Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

ok so is everyone gearing up for one lat big flip day?

I'm gonna try and build as much BB credit as possible and still keep my GS credit where it is. Hopefully I'll have enough BB credit to switch some preorders over from GS and pick up a 2000 xbl points card, for geometry wars 2.

Also bust tonight as Capcom vs SNK 2 eo is NOT BC. Man, I guess I'll try and return it to BBV. Its in perfect condition if anyone wants it before I return it.

Also is Jedi Knight II worth keeping, its disc only and not in the best shape? Is it worth more to keep it/sell it or to trade it in at GS?

and can I return BBV stuff at any BBV? I'd rather not go back to a BBV that I checked and didn't have any flippable stuff. They did have a Fatal Fury collection 1, if that interests anyone?

Normally yes, if you have the BB barcode sticker and the receipt.

If you mean :ps2: Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 1, TIV at GS is $3 FYI. I dumped that yesterday, should have picked another game at BB to buy instead of that one... ;)

picked up final time

Sega tennis for ps2 kept ringing up at 24.99 though and took 24.99 credit off

SMACKDOWN 2008 ps 2

both for 16 bucks...

The tennis dont work and it will be interesting to see what happens when i take it back later this week. It be nice if they would either give me another 24.99 game

if they just give me another 15 buck game i pick up another copy of smackdown and sell it to gamefly for 11.50

Anyone have a good alternative to Babelfish? Its not finding anything here.

Wow... so it seems like Octo held today at BBV? I hope I can flip my last one this afternoon during lunch.

Thanks everybody for helping me.

I know it seems like TIVs have been changing on Sundays, but for some reason I would find it hard to believe if Octomania doesn't drop today or tomorrow. A manager I know at one of the stores caught my flipping yesterday saying I must have found one of their "glitches" that trade for more than they're now selling them for. I honestly didn't know at the time that they dropped their selling price. Lucky for me, he's a nice guy and told me I should go find some more to trade in!

Even though the B1G1 is supposed to exclude Wii games, I wonder if Octomania will now work since it's the only Wii game that I know of that is $14.99 now. I've been spreading mine out so I don't know if there's two copies at any of the stores that I go to.

Octomania will almost certainly drop tomorrow. We aren't sure what happened when a couple values dropped on Sunday a few weeks ago. Hopefully we are back to Tuesday drops.

Yup gotta make the drive today to get rid of my last two Octo's before the drop tomorrow to aid the CEO of BBV ;-)

Anybody make trades today for $23?

A couple of GS TIV's for the list.

Test Drive Unlimited (ps2) 4.00 base --> 5.60 with bonus and edge.
Shrek the third (ps2) 4.00 base ---> 5.60 with bonus and edge.

Used my extra 50% coupon from the mail & the Edge & flipped these games.

Tonk Hawk's PG (PS2) $6->$9.60
Rogue Galaxy $7->$11.20
Mario Tennis $12->$19.20
Manhunt 2 (PS2) $6->$9.60
Mario Party 7 $11->$17.60
total=$67.20

paid off Yakuza 2 & gonna pay of Silent Hill Homecomming & Sonic Chronicles. Thanks CAG & special thanks to Berzerker for helping!

Edit: At one BB I went to, they had Zone of the Enders 2 for $15, but it was disc only so I passed. Another had Zelda: TP, Mario Baseball & Mario Tennis, but they were all for rent and the guy said I could not buy them :(

Octomania trades in to bbv for 9.00 today. Just checked my receipt and kane and lynch and history channel traded for 30 and 26 respectively

Another one bites the dust. I'm gonna go see if I can buy it back for $15 and get something else free.

Yep. I too can confirm this. Traded it in a couple minutes ago. The manager did the transaction, so I didn't bother since I don't want to get on the black list.

The mania has died out. Thanks and RIP.

Do you guys use more than 1 value card? I'm asking this because I'm curious whether trading to more than one store is negated by using the same value card. I only have one but I keep the balance fairly low to avoid detection.

Some $14.99 games

:ps2:
Shadow of the Colossus $9.8
Metal Slug Anthology $11.20

I wanted to keep the Metal Slug but BBV couldn't find the disc :(

Hit $100 and start a new card. BBV doesn't know how many cards you have.

I have one with 6 something on it. I traded octo today, but she wouldn't put it on that first card. Made me put the 9 on a second for some reason.

Traded in 15 more games today, only made about $65 total profit - but interestingly enough the one manager at GS that works next to me was the one that was the first to tell me I couldn't trade anymore copies of X game. Traded in Iridium Runners, Spiderman FOF, Psychonauts, Golden Compass, and Bee Movie. Had already traded 3 of those once before and he told me it comes up flagged as possible theft, and they get audited every month to see if people are moving stolen merchandise through their store.

He was ok though, he just told me if I have any more copies I need to take them to other stores, but I found it ironic that in my quest to 20+ gamestops the only one I knew was the first one to mention anything about theft. Good thing this sale is over :p

Our world is in Chaos. TIVs are changing on Mondays now. Maybe they are doing it on a case by case basis. Some manager realizes that he is getting a lot of Game X trades that are above the used price. He cals it in and they adjust it.

I'm pretty sure they only adjust once a day. I know they have to log in to the BBV servers each day (saw them do this at Halo 3 launch). Perhaps they realized the error on Sunday then made the change Sunday night so that it would be reflected today?

Looks like BB is finally getting their act together. TIV drop on a Monday?

I guess I'll return the Octomania I picked up yesterday to GS. I can still make a little over $1 profit but it's not worth it.

Most definitely.

Kane & Lynch should have been dropped more a long time ago during the "Perfect Storm" period of flipping. I'm honestly surprised they didn't address it when UT3 dropped. Anyway I'm going to call up Blockbuster corp and see if I can get them to speed up the back ordered MGS4 bundles. I just got word that the new 80 Cores might drop as early as the 27th of this month.

Rumor or not I can't afford to find out. >_>

I'm going to calm the flipping down until a real good one comes around and/or BBV gets more stable with their price changing policy. Don't want to risk too much atm.

Didn't Condemned 2 and Viking just drop to $17.99 each at GameStop? Could these be decent flippables ($14.XX after edge and 10% off coupon) if they're still getting above $20?

Might be. Just waiting for someone to confirm this so to see if it is worth it. At least gas is dropping in the market. :)

Condemned 2 and Dark Sector are getting $9 TIV at BBV (so I'd imagine Viking is getting the same). I had them scan rental copies from the shelf just to find out what the TIV was. I know SST (PS3-used) is listed as a good GS to BBV flip, but even new copies at $15 aren't bad.

Today I was able to score a Metal Slug Anthology and a copy of .hack//Infection (no idea what the TIV at GS is but it was a nice find).

Thank you guys.

Any updates would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I cannot do any sort of flipping until tomorrow afternoon maybe. Hope TIVs hold up until then.
Does anyone know if the TIV of Sega Superstar Tennis (PS3) dropped at BB? I'm heading to the local BBV later today, so I'll post an update later on.
It's still $23, I just traded 2 today.

Decided to spend lunch by taking a ride to 1 of 2 BBV's which are in opposite directions. I chose to journey to the one I had never been to before. Found Power rangers, two Iridium Runners, MeetTR, and a few of the normal trades (bee movie, tony hawk, manhunt 2). I chose wisely.

Well, I ran by my BBV for one final hurrah, and found they put out 3-4 more copies each of Proving Ground, SOF:payback and a few others, all 360. After doing the math in my head, it would have only come out to a small profit. I ended up passing on one final flip. It just didn't have the appeal without the coupons of several weeks ago, or even the $10 bonus.

Shoot. So, aside from SST, is there ANYTHING that's a decent flip from GS to BBV? I am completely out of credit there and want to do one last BOGO raid.

See when I went out yesterday I only found one each of SoF and THPG. I would have bought several if I could as they are good for Gamecrazy flipping. But it isn't worth going out today to check for more for so little potential profit. I think I'm done...

Sega Superstar Tennis - $23
Kane and Lynch - $30

Bought Super Smash Bros for $45 - Will trade to GS with my 50% coupon for $48. I like keeping my credit in GS. :)

When you use the Gamestop site search for Sega Superstars Tennis, does the PS3 version even show up? The results of the search for me show every other version (new and used for all the systems) except the PS3 version.

I bought Kane and Lynch and History Channel BftP both for 19.99 exactly and traded them in for 26 and 30. I call that decent

Found another Pikmin2 today, this one has the box, manual, even the registration card, and the disc is flawless. The other copy I found is the disc only. Going to make one last trip to the westside of town tonight to hit the last 6 or 7 stores.

Decided just to trade in what I had instead of picking up any more flips. Thank god I did that because Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the Wii is now $24.99 at BBV. Good thing I traded my last copy in yesterday for $26 :D. I also traded in at a few more Blockbusters and heard nothing of the supposed flagging of my account I was told occurred. I also picked up one of the Octomanias I traded in for B1G1, but it didn't come off automatically so the cashier just added the credit.

Also while I was out at one Blockbuster I noticed they had changed the prices of some of the new games. This was only at one of the Blockbusters I went to, but the price changes should be universal.

All Wii Titles
Battle of the Bands $19.99
Blast Works $24.99
Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian $34.99
House of the Dead 2 & 3 $19.99
Super Mario Galaxy $39.99
We Ski $19.99
