Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
yeah, I think it is only my GS that do it. I'm lookinga t all my receipts. I've traded in at 4 GS. What do you make of this?

GS #1 (my local one) - 18 games - 10 refurb fees - $18
GS #2 - 8 games - 1 refurb fee - $2
GS #3 - 6 games - 2 refurb fees - $4
GS #4 - 2 games ( but lost one receipt) - no refurb fees
I think you should ask them why they are charging you if the games are in good condition. I've bought plenty of used games from GS that were in shit condition. One of them actually had a ring around it. Wouldn't play at all.

hmm, If they do it again I'll bitch about it. I think I'll go to #4 from now on. Its near a loaded BB, FYI they dont have any sign/ad for the b1g1, but the computer knows. So they are f*cking stacked with really good flips.

I got 2 battle for middle earths and other high TIV b1g1 games. I ended up spending all me BB credit there for the time being and got 14 games.

Also if anyone remembers the evil BB I talked about with the beast-woman. She wasn't there today so I traded in SST and got some more games.

If anyone has any of the following they'd be interested in selling instead of flipping for credit, hit me up with a PM with condition (I'm not picky but don't want really bad crap) and what you'd be looking to get.

Beautiful Katamari
Crackdown
Earth Defense Force
Flatout Ultimate Carnage
Saint's Row
Stuntman Ignition

Thanks!
Horaaay I think :whee:

btw at GS both managers said that EOJ never comes with the pseye and such. Weak, I thought this could be a good deal, but i guess my find was very very YMMV.

edit: I do feel guilty, but Gs has reamed me enough so I call it even.

All added up now they charged me 24 dollsrs in refurb fees. I didn't realize but nearly every time I traded in a pair of games, one of them was a refurb, wtf. Maybe its just my GS, anyone else getting excessive refurb fees.
Oddly enough I have a story about the bolded part from about an hour ago.

I went out to a different BBV to check for some trade fodder. Didnt find anything where they normally had the games but upon leaving I caught a glimpse of an "impulse buy" endcap near the registers. Flipped through the games there and scored a Beautiful Katamari, Chromehounds x2, and Lego Star Wars II. All $9.99 so great to flip to GS.

So I go to GS and trade them all in. Turned about $21 in BBV credit to about $38 in GS credit. Not bad. Then took a glimpse at their used PS3 stuff. Happily for me I found 2 HC: BotP and 2 EoJ. I also found a Turning Point and a RSV 2 but I think Ill hold off on those. So I see the price on EoJ is higher then what it is listed for on here. $29.99. So I asked the guy about it and he said well the website is different. I said ok and handed over the coupon and my EDGE card. He gets all 4 games then says hang on and goes into another drawer and busts out TWO PSeyes, TWO EoJ Stands, and TWO EoJ mats. So Im thinking to myself, no way am I going to be given all this stuff too maybe he going to try and upsell me. But he simply came over and threw everything into a big GS bag. I giddily walked out of the store.

Whether or not he was SUPPOSED TO, I dont know. But after coupon and EDGE card each EoJ WITH PSEYE,STAND, AND MAT was $19.49. Im going to trade in both of the games themselves, keep one camera, and either sell or just give the other camera to one of my friends. No clue what to do with the mats and stands lol. GREAT SURPRISE.

Anyways so between the flips to GS and the flips back to BBV I made about $75 in profit PLUS two PSEyes/stands/mats. All in about 20 minutes.

Not a bad night. :D
Does anyone know if the Buy one get one free under $15 games is true?
Have you been reading any post in this thread, especially the first on????

i think with EOJ, if someone was dumb enough to trade in the camera with the game, the person that buys one and if they still have the eye/mat/stand, you get it. But it seems like you gotta be lucky to go to a Gs where a idiot traded in EOJ with the camera.

today was a very good day indeed. That GS coupon is ridiculous if you can find the good flip games at your GS. Plus like you I still got a pseye, but also have EOJ, anyone want to try it out if you have it. I've never played it before.
You didn't hear this from me...

They've added a new column to the trade screen now that says cash price. Thus, it's looking like corporate is tinkering with the idea of giving cash or credit.
If that happens then i will become an unofficial employee of BBV. I will show up at 9:45am to greet my fellow co-workers. Walk in promptly at 10:00, collect my paycheck, and clock-out at 10:15.

Id say lets go try and play it right now (not that I know ANYTHING ABOUT IT lol) but with all the stuff they DID give me... cards for the game was not one of them. haha

indeed, if this happens, holy SHITTTTTTT!!!!!! I wont have to wake up at 3:30 am to go to work anymore.

oh, I got cards, I dont know if its the full amount but its some. Thats odd, they traded in everything but the cards, wtf?
I could find any at my GS, but I'll keep looking. But I think Condemned and Viking are better flips, right?
Correct. Unfortunately since I bought and flipped around 6 - 8 copies of each title during the 25% 360 coupon it wouldn't be in my best interest to start buying and flipping the same game all over again for a different system so soon. I only have 5 GS (one of which I can no longer use the $15 bonus trade in coupon in and therefore a location to be temporarily overlooked) and 7 BBs (one of which I never trade in because of management and the fact that one employee from another store works there) within reasonable driving distance.

Not to mention those two titles are nowhere to be found except for 2 - 3 Viking which just so happen to be in the same store where the manager is almost always working and ringing me up to chat about the titles I bought. =\

So in my case aside from Time Crisis 4 (which I may have already cleaned the area of today + a pain in the ass to flip regardless) another $30 flip is a godsend for me. 8 more of those (provided I can find more $15 trade in bonus B1G1 fodder) and I can comfortably achieve my goal (360 Pro w/ Gears of War and Bioshock) without touching more than $20 - $25 of my original $553 credit.
If you can find Halo 3:LE at Sears for $4.97, it trades in for $25. Not as good as FF:ROTSS but pretty good.
And now I have a reason to stay in the mall for more than 15 minutes.

I love you guys.

what is FF: ROTSSSSSSSS

and holy shit halo 3 for $5 I'd keep that.
Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer.
WHAT!!!! I saw that a few days ago, whats the TIV on that. It looked so shitty I grabbed 2 blue dragons instead.
WHAT!!!! I saw that a few days ago, whats the TIV on that. It looked so shitty I grabbed 2 blue dragons instead.
For the Wii at TRU. $4 to 30.
WHAT!!!! I saw that a few days ago, whats the TIV on that. It looked so shitty I grabbed 2 blue dragons instead.
It was for the Wii and used to be $30 until it dropped somewhere between $20 - $5. I'm not sure. The only copy I flipped was just before the drop so I got the original TIV.
For the Wii at TRU. $4 to 30.
Why didn't I know of this, ahhhhhhh. They're probably long gone by now right? uggg that sucks hard.

nvm the tiv dropped right so no go.
still nothing as good as stranglehold gotta love that one! that was how I started out with BBV credit
man I just missed that one, I only started few days ago. wish I started months ago, this is great.
anyone know if the Club is still netting 30 for PS3?
I'm glad you mentioned it because it is yet another used game in plentiful supply here and I haven't seen the TIV posted yet.

dear god, EOJ is updating holy shit its slow. It download all the files, but now it has to upload them on my ps3. I guess each file is a new card or something so since i have it when its old it has to do 1374 files at once, and each file is taking at least 4-5 seconds to complete. I dont think I'll be playing anytime soon.

I've done pretty good so far this week. Started with $44 in cash ($60 if you count that I had to renew my edge card). Turned that into copies of MGS4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Heavenly Sword. I also have $10 left in GS & $120 ish BB with 3-4 BB's left to check out.

PS. I got a complete used copy of MGS4 for like $35 in credit with the coupon and edge!!!!!

tiv would need to drop more than 2/3 (below $10) to really not justify it at an initial cost of $4.

If I could find BF: BC I'd buy that, but everything else I either have or dont want. But if I didn't have MGS4 or MLB 08 I'd be on that fast as hell.

I'm trying to play EOJ but the updating is taking forever!!!
Hey, I was wondering the exact ammount on my edge card so I googled it and you can check your balance on gamestop.com. I'm sure you guys know this, but for those who dont.

http://www.gamestop.com/profiles/valuelookup.aspx

edit, just copy and pasted the link, the link gets all messed up.
LOL I just did that before coming here. I spent 10 minutes trying to find out how because I wasn't looking at the sidebar.
I wish you could use this coupon online. :(
yeah, but seeing as we are racking up so much credit and with cag16 + saver + edge, its still 26% Off. So if something is cheaper online than at B&M, or B&M doesn't have it, its not bad.

You can use the edge credit online right?

I remembered reading about Zelda Tp and SMB for GC but what is their base trade at GS? I can't seem to find it in "the sea of posts."
anyone know if the Club is still netting 30 for PS3?
I'm pretty sure its still $30, I traded it in real recently, but I can't remember if it was before Tuesday. I'd call if you want to be certain, but I'm fairly sure it's still $30. But don't hold that against me if I'm wrong. I traded in my own personal copy to get the ball rolling on all this. Might re-buy it with the GS coupon now though.

Ok soooo looks like TRU is having another clearance price dop on some games..... we should prob get the full list (ill copy and paste it in a minute) and then get all the TIVs for the games at BBV. Maybe we will get lucky and there will be another F4 type gem. :D

sorry if this has been answered but anyone know the tiv at BB for MGS4 and MLB 08.

My GS has both, I'm tempted to trade them in at BB for 30+ each in b1g1 games, and get 45ish at GS and then rebuy the 2 games for 35 ish and gaining some credit. Anyone?

Can a GS hold games? or I can just buy them since I have a lot of credit at GS.

I'd only do this when I've traded in too many of the flippable games at BB, like viking, condemned, SST, and so on. So for now I'm fine, but for future.

I would say that you should go around the "shift change" time, and hope whatever employee you traded into will be gone and replaced with another. Of course, it might be supsicious to ask them to hold onto games you just traded in. Then again, you might want to find a store that has copies of the games you want already so even if your copy is bought, you can get another. I saw a copy of MGS4 traded in the other day, and the coupon is extended till next week, possibly more people who beat the game will trade it in.

Got rid of :ps3:Rock Band and :ps3:Viking for $66 at BBV today. The cashier was incompetent and somehow changed the house address and phone number of the base account.

No I mean this.

- ask them to hold 2 used games at GS, MLB 08 and MGS4. I can just say that I'm going to go home and get some games to trade in for them.
- trade in my copies of MGS4 and MLB 08 to BB for lets say $60, buy lets say 8-10 games
-trade those games into GS, and buy the holded copies of MGS4 and MLB 08 gaining some GS credit in the process.

Of courese I'd only do this after I've tapped out my BB trades, i.e. viking and others. A last resort to flip

Ah, I thought you wanted to rebuy your traded games at GS. You could ask them to hold the games, but why not just bypass this step? You could buy the games at the time you trade in right?

So today I planned on just building up a bit of credit but I ended up going to 2 BBVs that were pretty untouched and loaded up on PSP titles. I got:

360
Virtua Tennis 3 (Finally have my own copy now)

PSP
Family Guy
Crash of the Titans
Socom 2
Mercury Meltdown
Brunswick Bowling
Luxor
Lemmings
Untold Legends Warrior's Code
Justice League Heroes
Ape Escape On the Loose
Coded Arms Contagion
Ys Ark of Napishtim

I have $114 in GS credit and $113 in Blockbuster with 8 titles to trade into GS for $80, so after four days I still have yet to use any credit, but I keep buying too many games to see any profit. Oh well, can't argue with 12 360 games, 33 PSP games, 1 DS game, and 6 DVDs for free plus the $300 in credit. I've only spent $36 plus gas to get it all.

Kinda sad that I didn't find any DS titles at any of the Blockbusters I've been to save one, but oh well. I think I may try to find a few new Blockbusters to head out to this weekend, after loading up my value card of course. Making the lists for GS now thanks to their online location system. Looks like I'll be moving quite a bit of credit around tomorrow. Lucky for me I have most of the PSP games that are on sale now so I might actually see some profit.

EDIT: Two things I noticed:

1. Flatout came up 9.99 for me when I found it at a store, making it actually a good trade. Need another to confirm this to make sure.

2. If you have an odd amount of games to trade in and your store still has the game days display set up (50/50 for those around here) Command and Conquer is 12.99 NEW and trades for 13.80 with EDGE. Depending on sales tax you may lose or make a few cents, but at least you won't miss out on the bonus for an odd title.

Perfect. Thank you! I've been looking for another game to trade in. I have one extra game and it's bothering me how I can't get rid of it. Also going to make $0.81 on the trade :). Store credit FTW.

I'll also check up on the Flatout thing tomorrow. Hopefully it is $9.99. It sucks that there aren't many $10 trades around here. They would practically double my credit from BB->GS. Currently at $140 BB and $30 GS. Got 5 games to trade into GS. C&C3 will make it even.

I just caught up reading all the posts in the thread, but haven't been able to find anyone that's been picking up Transformers for 14.99. Has anyone picked this up? I've seen it at a few BBVs but it's always marked 19.99, even at the stores that are on the ball with pricing. I haven't checked it myself though, so they could be wrong.

If it's in the OP as that price, it is most likely accurate. I didn't even notice that trade myself.

NP. I picked one up to replace my beat up copy which I expected to get around $10 for, but was surprised when my receipt said it got 13.80. Of course that was before the little twit hit me with the highest refurb fee I've ever gotten: $3! Oh well, got the $10 I was looking for, and know to avoid the ladies when trading in. They love to hit me with unknown refurb fees, but when I traded in 20 titles to this one guy, half of which I knew were beat up, he didn't charge me any fees at all. He's my second favorite Gamestop employee now.

I love going on flipping trips, but I'm definitely gaining notoriety in my area at BBV as "The guy who trades in all the games" primarily because the staff at one blockbuster also work at another and one of them is ALWAYS there when I go. I hope people around here start trading in there, because right now it seems like I'm the only one.
Flatout came out at $9.99 for me when I found it at a store, making it actually a good trade. Need another to confirm this to make sure.

Confirmed. :360: Flatout is $9.99 at BB.

I hit up two more BB's in the area that I hadn't checked yet, but they'd been cleaned out (likely by edavis). The usual Fullerton BB on State College actually had all of their 360 games pulled aside and stuffed under the counter (including previously noted B1G1 games), and all that was up with signage was a bunch of XB/PS2 games and Stranglehold CE (PS3) at $14.99 (which was $64.99 a week ago). It's funny noticing which stores have been visited by CAG's - they're full of History Channel, Fatal Inertia, Viking, and Beowulf. I've been noticing a TON of converted GTA4's as well.

I swung back to the stores I'd hit a few nights ago to see if I'd missed anything. Aside from a few copies of Spidey 3, I'd gotten most of the good stuff at one - but at another, I found a number of $9.99 games tagged at $19.99. Good news for me, and I finished off the rest of the Value Card I'd loaded last night with BFTP and Fatal Inertia.

Bought (all 360)
Golden Compass
Flatout: Ultimate Carnage x 2 (9.99)
Spiderman 3 x 2
Spiderman: FOF (tagged $9.99, rang up $12.99)
Bullet Witch (tagged $19.99)
Smackdown '07 (tagged $19.99)
Virtua Tennis 3 (tagged $19.99)
Top Spin 2 (tagged $19.99)

I've got those along with copies of LOTR, Meet The Robinsons, and another Virtua Tennis to get rid of, plus the copy of Katamari I'll probably end up keeping. :)

Between myself and edavis, I think we've got everything in my area worth getting at $9.99.
Ah, I thought you wanted to rebuy your traded games at GS. You could ask them to hold the games, but why not just bypass this step? You could buy the games at the time you trade in right?
I'd have to go to BB to get the games to trade in, so I'd need them to hold them until I trade in my copies and buy some b1g1 games.
