Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
Do you mean the new chip will be out with the 60gb version? If so, lets hope BBV start carrying it soon!
Yes. The new 60 gigs are supposed to have Jasper installed but I held hope MS would confirm it and any other extras at E3. I know for a fact if they do though I'll definitely take a gamble and purchase one on launch if BBV doesn't take forever to carry it. >_>
I'm pretty sure that the newer 20 GB versions come with HDMI if that's what you really want. I'm not really sure if they come with the Jasper chip though.

Another one...
I don't think there is a new 20GB version. They are phasing out stock of current 20GB xboxes. The 20GB is at $299 for as long as supplies last. That's the "price drop". The $349 will have the 60 GB.

No price drop on the elite.
Please, go read my post again. I asked why do they matter. I never asked why there are exclusives. I know why there are exclusives.

@LampLit and Karuto - I really don't want to get at this because it'll end up being like the shitty gamespot forums, but really. You two sound like ignorant fanboys saying that the game is automatically watered down because it's also on the 360. In that case, Oblivion would have looked like total shit for the PS3 then? It looks better on the PS3 than the 360 version does. And guess what? It was coded for the 360 first. At the time being there's only one game that looks better than any 360 game. That's MGS4. Don't put the PS3 on a pedestal and say it's the superior console. Even then, graphics being better on the PS3 versus the 360 are controversial and opinion based.

I guess we'll go back on topic. Gona hit a new BB later on. Hopefully there are more games to flip. Trying to hit $600 in credit before the 20th so I've got a lot of work ahead of me. Currently at $220.
Wait time out... flag on the play...

First of all the "only" game that looks better? Really? Uncharted looks better then ANY 360 game that exists and that INCLUDES GoW. Heavenly Sword rivals most 360 games and Ratchet and Clank as well.

Sure every now and then a port over will turn out nice. But more often then not they dont. On top of that you simply can NOT argue that the 360 has anywhere close to the processing capabilities that the PS3 has. The problem is most developers dont(or havent) take the time to take advantage of them properly. The PS3 is the superior machine in just about ever facet. I dont know how that can be argued. The fact that a LOT of games have to be put onthe 360 is the reason nothing spectacular (outside of the aforementioned EXCLUSIVE games) has been released onthe PS3 to prove this point. MGS4 is just the beginning. By the end of this year there should be at least 5 other games that are exclusive and will show what the PS3 can do. And its STILL only the tip of the ice berg.

Anyways... I didnt want to get that far off topic but the comment needed to be addressed.
Are you sure that viking is only getting $23? Not $33?
Anyone confirm this? I just bought it today and was hoping to trade in for $33
Anyone confirm this? I just bought it today and was hoping to trade in for $33
I can confirm Viking got me $23, not $33.
I can confirm Viking got me $23, not $33.
Dammit, bought it for nothing..not worth the trade in then...and I took the sticker off so I have to keep it.

Might just give it to BBV anyhow, it cost me $23 so I'll net 0.

You can't return the game to GS even tho you took off the sticker? I returned the regular edition of Stranglehold (PS3) to GS without the sticker fine today.
On top of that you simply can NOT argue that the 360 has anywhere close to the processing capabilities that the PS3 has. Never said anything about the processing capabilities. The problem is most developers dont(or havent) take the time to take advantage of them properly. You're telling me that developers have taken 100% advantage of the 360 then? This comment applies both to the 360 and PS3. The PS3 is the superior machine in just about ever facet. But not "ever facet," right? The PS3 cannot do many things as well as the 360 and vice-versa. I dont know how that can be argued. Tons of articles on the web seem to contradict this sentence. Uhm, the 360 too... PS3 isn't the only system that's still developing games. And its STILL only the tip of the ice berg. How do you know it's the tip of the iceberg? Seriously. Now you're pulling these things out of your ass.

Anyways... I didnt want to get that far off topic but the comment needed to be addressed.
This is why I hate arguing about video games. We both end up looking like blind and ignorant fan boys and the person I'm arguing with always tries to put words in my mouth. My comments are bolded and I won't respond again. Gona try to stay on topic now.
But enough talk, back to the flipping! I hope to work for either BBV or GameStop next month. I'll let you know how it goes, animemaniac14. I won't need to flip if I finally get some disposable income. ;)
No, no, no! You have it all wrong, my friend. Disposable income merely gives you more fuel for the flipping fires ;).

OK... Let's cut the chatter about FF 13 and the PS3 vs 360 crap, OK? I'm going to go back to delete most of that stuff. There are plenty of other threads where that would be more appropriate. Though I have to admit I hadn't heard it yet, as, of course, this was the first place I went when I got on CAG today. I need to go check it out (in the appropriate thread!).
Guys I just traded in Condemned 2 (360) a little while ago. The TIV was only 22.
Ah that sucks, I was hoping it would stay at $32 so I'd have time to finish it this week and still get the full flip value. Guess I'll be completing it anyway and dumping it at GR on the weekend. I got it for $17.xx with the 25% off coupon, so I'll still be profiting a little!

I got $52TIV for both Condemned and Kane & Lynch, one was $22 and the other $30, have to check my receipt after work to see which was which.

I had gotten $33 for Condemned over the weekend, so I guess my local BBV does TIV value changes on Monday's =( I'll have to remember that going forward.

Yeah, this is kind of a big deal.... trade-in prices changed on a day other than late Mon / early Tues? I wonder if that's the case, or if some clever store clerks just noticed that the current trade-in value was higher than the used selling price and manually adjusted down. I just kind of made that up, I dunno.

Okay, this was bugging me, so I ran out to my car to check the receipt. total was $53 TIV, $23 for Condemned 2 (PS3) and $30 for Kane & Lynch (PS3) in So Cal.

I made a small flip/purchase today at BB/GS. I started with $265 Gs credit $0 BB. I got time crisis and Kane and Lynch, two of the few games I've yet to flip. The guy at GS, who is usually a dick said that it was the last time I could use the ps3 coupon, whatever, like I care what you say. Too bad the GS .2 miles down the road loves me. I then went 1/2 mile down the road to a Bb that is so f*ckin stupid when it comes to games, I give them a break since they dont have a GR and are very limited. All the games are mispriced, but I cleaned that one out of what little it had. I could tell no cags had been there, because there were no Beowulfs, Condemned, SST,History channel, PES, or anything flippable, just the ones I traded in a few days earlier. It was just their old rentals. I got what was left, 4 14.99 and 2 9.99 games, spiderman was one. All priced at 14.99 and above.

The I took them to the GS thats pretty tight with me. I brought in the 6 games and the guy that recognized me said, more games. I said yeah... It was a lot of credit, more than expected, although I'm used to 6-8 refurb fees. I tlked to the 2 guys working there for a while, about upcoming games and the 360 drop and leak on GS.com They got a memo the morning that GS was putting the 60gb model for preorder. They also just got some memo about an after hours thing for Gears, I dont know. They had no idea, they just got it. It said it aws some exclusive video and blah blah, no early play of the game like the guy was hoping as he read it. The mexican guy, like you know, was just Fallout crazy, he predordered 2 special editions, so that should say it all. I preforderd fallout, PS3, they guy was really convinced the ps3 version was way better then the 360 one. I also preordered Mirror's edge, for the bag.

As a question, can I buy the game and pick up the bag on release day, but then return the game sealed, and keep the bag? He also said I'd get a bobblehead for Fallout, that I like. I also reserved the blue psp bundle, I asked what the tiv on madded 09 would be and he said like 25-30 on release day. He convinced me to predorder it after I said I like the blue color, he sai no silkscreen on the back ( big + there) and to just trade in madden and keep the 1gb mem card. So I think I will. Thats pretty much what I've been flipping for, a big market item, like a console or a psp.

So right now after 2 $5 reserves, and a $25 reserve for the psp (lowest I could get) and a GC mem card ($10) I'm at $237 GS and $16 BB. It'll probably stay that way for a while since I think I'm done with flipping for a while. At least until the next big thing drops, b2g1 or whatever. Thanks again for the help in this thread, i would have never known to avoid x-men and go for spiderman if it weren't for the thread. Just please take it easy on the flipping, I know for a fact that 4 GS and 2 BB are on to it, they just cant stop it, ATM!
Guess whoever said that TIV changes on Sunday a few pages back was actually correct.
Yep. And whoever called him out on it has egg on their face.
anyone know tiv @ BBV for res4 and zak & wiki both for wii?
Somewhere in the neighborhood of $8 each, considering they sell them for $16.99 used.

Today's haul completely sucked. I went to a new Blockbuster to see what they had. I walked in and everything was on the racks against the walls. The middle of the store was empty. My reaction to that was "Yes! They're closing down! Everything must be on sale!" I proceeded to pick up a couple of $9.99 games that have very good TIVs at GS(Beautiful Katamari(which I picked up 2), etc...)

Then an employee comes up to me and tells me that the only games for sale are the ones with stickers on them. I look at the stack of 6 games I have and only one had a sticker. They were just remodeling the place. THE HELL MAN! I wanted those games.

In the end I left with 2 Spiderman: FOF's, Soldier of Fortune and CoD3.

Update to the OP though: Call of Duty 3 rings up $14.99.

The only good thing about today's visit was meeting a competent cashier who hit total after scanning 2 games.
In late 2004/early 2005, I noticed that Blockbuster had a B2G1 and also Trade3GetPreowned for $10. I quickly noticed that I could spend $23 on 6 cheap games, trade them in and get 2 expensive games for maybe $2 out of pocket, trade them in and get an expensive game +$50 in credit. I instantly did this to purchase the game I wanted (Star Wars Episode 3) for -$25. I then repeated this buying countless SWE3 and NBA Ballers over the next several weeks.

Being proud of my acomplishments, I did a google search and found this forum. I then learned how to convert my thousands in BBV credit to Gamestop Credit and preordered 5 XBOX 360's in the early Spring. Come launch, I sold 4 of those XBOX's for an average of $700 each and kept one for free.

While it is true in the last year the art of flipping has becoming closely associated with you, ie to some, flipping is synonimous with "kunai," using it as both a verb and a noun, some of us have been at it for longer.

I can still remember hearing about some guy driving a van across Canada with thousands in credit....
The trade 3 get $5 per game bonus is the only time I really went into full flip-abuse mode. It fell during the buy 2 get 1 GS sale and the trade 3 get $10 GS bonus. Flipped back and forth for over a grand in trade credit. Got 2 DS Lite systems at launch and about 20 DS games, including a ton of Phoenix Wrights which were rare at the time and made good trade bait for games I actually wanted but couldn't find locally. Also picked up several DDR Marios with credit. Then came the GR clearance, which was a great chance to use all that credit and move it to GS or buy stuff worth popping on Ebay.

I had to have come out a couple grand ahead at the end of it all. It helped that I was self-employed and working at home at the time with lots of free time on my hands. These days, I actually have to go to the office 3 days a week and work from home two. Ah well, I pass like 9 Blockbusters on my 1 hour drive to work.
Stupid bitch at blockbuster today wouldn't give me a tiv for Eye of Judgement because they "didn't carry it"
Don't call her a stupid bitch....it is their right to refuse ANY trade.
Ah well, I pass like 9 Blockbusters on my 1 hour drive to work.
Nice! If I take the long way (stay off the turnpike) I'll only hit about 5 in the hour drive.

TIV as of about an hour ago:

EoJ(x3)= $36
Kane & Lynch= $30

So it does seem the TIV drop day has changed. Do we have full on confirmation it changes on SUNDAY now or does it change on MONDAY? Sunday makes the most sense.
He also said I'd get a bobblehead for Fallout, that I like.
In your mega post this caught my eye. So GS has a preorder bonus for this, eh? This was one of the games I preordered at my local BB but I may have to switch it. I gotta have some use for all that GS credit, after all! Thing is, I'm not even sure I want the game. People are comparing it to Bioshock and I just can't get myself to even get that one started, so, meh...

Wait, they refused to sell you the BK's? Aren't you a regular here - you ought to know they will just ring up B1G1 automatically... Or are you talking about some other discounted games you didn't mention by name?

Also, about the CoD3 - well, someone else "corrected" the $14.99 I had originally to $12.99 a few days back. Either they keep bouncing the price of that one around or one of you is wrong. Is it actually $14.99 on your receipt? If so, I'll change it back.

I have bought about 4 of them over the last week and ALL of them have been $14.99

I made it a bit confusing. The BK's they had were rental copies. I initially thought they were for sale because the for sale games and for rent games were all mixed up. Ups and downs to remodeling... Easier to find the games, but harder to tell the two apart.

The receipt says $14.99 for CoD3.

If not already posted, I got quoted for Viking to be 23 for Trade in today and Kane and Lynch took a few bucks down it get only 30 now, looks like I will be returning these

Just a suggestion for post # 2, can we get dates added on new BBV TIV price drops? I saw the updated price on K&L, but Condemned 2 at $23TIV is not worth flipping anymore with the PS3 25% coupon.

I update when I see 'em. Did Condemned 2 drop? I really didn't think any of them were worth the hassle so I haven't paid that much attention. If someone wants to repost the list with all the current pricing I'll add that in.

And even though it looks like trade-in prices drop Sunday now, I still think we need to clear Tuesday to be sure any pricing is "current".

One BB I went to had Turok mislabeled as "Major League Baseball 2k7" for a price of $10.

I pointed it out to the cashier and she didn't care so she let it slide.

I swear, it must really help the cashiers if you appear nice and smiling.
yea, what's with this Monday-TIV-dropping talk?

i thought the original day for TIV drops was tuesday?
It was. But I heard it from my own BBV as well, that dump day has changed to match price change day.

Condemned and Viking dropped to $23 I believe. That's all I'm aware of right now.

Confirmation on the $23 on Viking. I don't know if it was mentioned, but X-Men only gets $1 at GameStop.

I ended up driving for a couple of hours today, ended up with no net profit in credit, but OMG SO MANY BR/HD DVDS between the 3-for-$20 at BBV and GameStop stores either having B2G3 or B2G4, I must have gotten at least 20 movies in addition to a handful of games to keep, currently at $50 BBV credit and $360 GS credit with only a few games left to flip to GS.

Zack and Wiki dropped to $9 TIV at BBV, it was $16 the other day. Graw 2 and splinter cell for the PS3 still getting $16 TIV

You ought to pick it up. I saw the video during the Microsoft Press Conference and the live demo on G4's XPlay, and it looked like a hell of a lot of fun. Over 100 hours of gameplay, with the ability to actively build your own weapons. Todd Howard was shooting a rocket launcher full of lunch boxes and teddy bears! Not to mention, it's kind of like Soldier of Fortune, in that you can commit these gruesome acts of violence that rip limbs and heads from your enemies. There's even a mini nuclear bomb launcher. That sold me right there! I'll definitely be buying this game. :D

OH GOD YES. Fallout 3 gameplay =:drool::drool: I simply cannot WAIT for my 60 gig.

Ugh. I'd better shut up here and now. I just realized I'm one of the main off topic contributors in this thread. >_>
This PS3 coupon is really sucking. Going to pick up a Rock Band tomorrow. Only game that's actually worth it...
yeah rockband is really the only game that i've been flipping from gs back to blockbuster. Only 2 copies flipped so far and I think i'm done with the following prizes from 2 week of not too active flipping:

15$ out of pocket (F4, and some 5$ games traded in @ bbv)
about 10-15$ in gas i guess (All my BBV and GS are close to each other within 5miles)
100$ GS credit
Edge card + 12issues of GI
Limited Edition MGS4
BBV Combo Pass

All these total in about 200$ gained which was my main goal. Now I'm going to stop until another big flip happens that can turn my credit at least double or something close.
Good luck to everyone out there continuing your flipping journey.
Thanks to IO and every one with inputs in this "little" thread. Where have I been without you guys!
