Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
What does GS do if a game doesn't have a manual? A little fee I suppose? Sorry if this has been answered, I saw something about $0.50 for cases but didn't really understand
Depends on the store, some charge you a fee, others dont care at all ;)
A little suggestion for those with Eye of Judgment and worry about being able to trade it in. Rip off the part of the cover that says 'Includes PS Eye'. As a test, I did this at 3 stores, they looked at the tear (the back of the manual is visible, so the color kinda sticks out), but didn't even ask about it.) If they do ask, just tell them there was a sticker on there and you accidentally ripped it when taking it off.
that suggestion sounds an awful lot like the one i made a few pages back but i guess no one saw it :( sad.
I hope no one posted this yet, want to add something.

Gamestop.com shows Blacksite Area 51 for PS3 used dropped to $24.99
With coupon and edge it's $16.25 ----> 33 at BB.

Hook up the printers and burn some coupons today and tomorrow.
Beat me to it. Traded in 4 of these today. Thought the price was 34.99 and would not have known any different except for a copy at the register had just been traded in and tagged 24.99.

TODAY: $70 cash >> $254 GS Credit.

BB TIV:
History Ch Battle of Pac (360) >> $25
Turning Point (PS3) >> $30
Blacksite (PS3) >> $33 (only $16 and change at GS) - $16 and change after using edge. No tax with edge card.
Rock Band (PS3) >> $33
Time Crisis (PS3) >> $30

And get this. I go back to the store where i have traded in 9 Eye of Judgements. He asks me what i have been doing with the cameras. Im like oh damn he knows. He then says "i know you trade alot of these just wanted a camera for myself." I tell him i buy them without the camera. He says no problem. Tells me i can still trade them in cameraless. :D

does your TIV receipt say anything on it next to the game? For example, my Rock Band TIV receipt says "software only", so maybe they would give more if you traded in the extra EOJ stuff with it (like 2 options pop up when the barcode is scanned). If it doesn't have that "software only" comment, then I guess no go...if he's a cool GS EE, I would have hooked him up with a camera on the side.

All of you finding copies of Blacksite must have the luck of fuckin' irish. I couldn't find one new copy of it in stores. Disgusting. I'm seriously jealous. But regardless I can finally take a break on flipping with $901.20. It would have been $910 but I had to sub Unreal for Sigma. A new store manager I hadn't met got a little snippy with me questioning why I had so many Lynch (only traded in the third copy at that store) even after I explained what happened with my account.

Needless to say I let it go. I'll just continue to trade there just with less frequency. There's nothing he can do to me with receipts to back me up.

Ugh. I'm so exhausted. I need a steak and a beautiful woman to stare at while I'm eating it which translates to a BK Steakhouse and my daydreams. Tch, later guys.

Oh, and I agree with Jorge. Hook him up with a camera on the side King. I would have done the same.

Most GS stores will not charge you anything for missing manuals or even missing cases. Some do, though. While I've only done one disc-only in the 100 or so I've traded there in the last 2 weeks I've done plenty without manuals and plenty in Blockbuster cases. This is across 6 or 7 GS stores - they usually don't care. And I have yet to be hit with a refurb fee. I'm guessing that the areas where people get multiple refurb fees it must be something pushed by the district manager.
Hit a goldmine of a store last night. Picked up 13 Spider-man 3 and 5 Spider-man FOF since I only had $110 on my value card, flipped them all this morning before work for $234 (the best manager in all of GS is there- I've given them over 30 copies of Spider-man 3 and he still scans the $15 bonus without hesitation). I'm going back tonight to swipe another couple $hundred of games and call up Hawaii in the process to make sure the deal is still alive. Then I'll eat some cake.
. Once again the normal rules do not apply to kunai. Congrats, though. I was just glad I was able to use the $15 coupon 5 times last night out of my 6 different transactions (and only had to "lose out" on 3 of my 14 total games - that is traded 3 $5+ games with only $10 bonus, or $5 per game instead of $7.50).

So, the BB promo might be extended till 7/28 and the GS promo might be extended till 7/31, eh? Wow... I can see BBV extending their promo because I'm sure it has been more wildly successful than they imagined. Surely they've made tens (or hundreds ?) of thousand more dollars just from the combo of these two deals alone than they would have otherwise.

I actually found a Rock Band PS3 last night so I'll be trading that today. Why the heck does the PS3 Rock Band only cost $29.99 at GS but the 360 one is $49.99? Since we got GHIII I wanted to pick up the RB disc at least so we could play more songs. After getting the PS3 one for $19.xx I thought that would be cool to get once the 360 coupon returns. But no, it would be $32.xx .

Guys two questions about multiple trade accounts.

First I live on the border of two states, but the two closest BBV's are about 10 minutes from each other (even though they're in different states). What are the chances the District Manager is the same for both?

Second, if asked why you're opening a trade account at a BBV that's not close to your home address or why you're opening another trade account, what's the standard BS answer you're providing. Thanks in advance.

I'm out here/up here for work all the time ;).

Seriously, I had to answer this for why I was opening an account in Virginia when I live on the other side of the country. Though they really didn't seem to care that much - were just curious I think and wanted to make sure they had the right address (like I didn't move out there or something).

Just checked gamestop.com and Blacksite seems to be available used in most stores around me unlike most of those other PS3 titles. But damn, I wasn't planning on going out again before Friday...

I actually bought one EOJ from GS that had the mat and cards. Still traded it in cardless and matless. The deck of cards had about 50 cards in it and a little birdie told me you can get a few bucks on ebay for em (especially the RARE ones---go see for yourself) so off they went to ebay along with the mat. Nothing on the receipt for Time Crisis or Eye of Judgement.

Talked to a GS store manager and he said they are NOT supposed to take in EOJ or Time Crisis without the camera, cards, mat for EOJ or the gun for TC but they do anyway. I have no clue about the trade policies at BB. Dont want to ask because im scared of the "well you know..." Then there goes EOJ.

BTW does anyone else load up there edge card before making a big purchase. GS doesnt charge tax when you use your edge. I save $25 everytime when i buy a system.

If i can find a EOJ with a camera then ill definately give it to that guy becuase he really looks out for me. Most of the notes on my account saying "let this guy continue trading" have come from him.

Almost forgot, went to 2 new BBV just to purchase. Got a lot of strange looks. Apparently ppl have been stealing them in case and all. Im thinking outside of CAGS looking to flip them who really wants these crappy games.

Not sure why but I have been charged tax with every purchase using credit on my Edge card.

And oh yeah, none of the GS around here sells EoJ with camera, cards, etc. Just stand alone game. I wish camera came with it.

i am so fucking sick of gamestop employees. just went to 2 different stores trying to use the ps3 coupon. first one said i had used too many of the coupons and i wouldnt be allowed to use them anymore. said it is one coupon per customer. the second said after scanning my edge card that my account shows i have used the coupon already this week and i cant use it anymore. i dont think thats true that it said that, cuz i have not had a problem till today and that guy was there the last time i used one. they have been gradually getting more and more rude around here lately as i trade in more games and buy more with coupons. and unfortunatley the same 3 stores have all the good used ps3 games in stock so i cant go to another one. im trying to just get all my credit back to bb so i can be done with gamestop and buy my 60gb 360 there.

I'm in Northern California and they always charge me tax on my purchases, even when I pay completely with EDGE trade credit !?

Xfactor

wow, today was a very good day for me. On the way home from work I was f*cking tired as hell, I've been in since 4:30 - 1:30pm, but I decided to stop by the street off the freeway with 2 GSs and a BB. I grabbed 2 games at each GS, And these I thing are the best flips out there GS-->BB Since history channel and rock band are impossible to find. both $30 before cpn and edge at GS

Turning Point $30 BB
EOJ $36 BB

With my remaining $130+ Bb credit I grabbed every last 14.99 game and under they had, except 2 but they are only $1 tiv at GS, xmen and something else. They had out 3 SPiderman FoF out from rentals, so i got those for sure.

All in all I started with $230 GS.

At GS I talked to the manager for a good 45 minutes again like yesterday. He was giving me all the e3 info I missed, he still thinks Fallout 3 will be better on ps3, so I kept my preorder. I also predordered Little Big Planet since theres finally a set release day, November something. I also got...

Wii component cables, and Fable: lost chapters. And payed off my blue psp bundle preorder.

So as of now I got $126 GS and $2.xx BB With a fully paid psp bundle at GS and 3 preorders.

I am officially done with flipping for the time being, at least until my blue psp bundle comes, 8/12. Mainly since I've cleaned out all the BBs that had anything worthwhile left.

Oh, also the manager at GS was talking to me for a while about the Gears or War 2 night they are having. Its on July 25th at 9:00pm after closing. 17 and older only,

Even on your receipt? The no tax when you use your edge card has to be national. Next time you guys look at your receipt see if it has tax on it. I have NEVER been charged tax.

lol, i hope those are for Goozex, you cant sell the ps3 version of Gh3 at BB

And shame on me, i went and bought another 14 games at BB to flip. My body was telling me no, but my *racial slur* was going "money money money!" so i had to go with the smarter sense. I'm gonna be hitting up a Gamerush later for hopefully another 30+ games. I think it'd be better if I had all of my credit at GS rather than BB. I've already put enough credit on by BB account to pay for my Force Unleashed & Soul Calibur 4.

you get charged tax on refurb fees, huh?

I also forgot to mention I told the manager at GS that my local GS charges me refurb fees all teh time, he just said "That's bullshit, I only charge if theres a ring around the disc or its chipped." So I think that GS does it knowing they can get away with it.

LOL. That receipt was from the 25% off Xbox 360.:) The ps3 version doesnt scan at BBV.

SoCal GS charge tax too no matter what you use.. so it depends on state law.

Wow!! How many times do we have to remind people that different states charge tax differently!!

P.S. Most GS workers around here are douches and will chagre a refurb fee on all trades, the old manger here wouldnt, and the hot chick that works here never charges me when i trade.

No shit. But the fact that one GS store charges no tax and one does is interesting cosidering that all states have some sort of sales tax.

Wooh! Blacksite is going to be fun. Hopefully my Local GS has 2 of them so I can trade in two tomorrow.

My trip to GS today sucked though. It was just freaking horrible. I walked in and the very cautious employee is like "we don't take discs with rings in them." WTF? That's never stopped them before. I'm like fine and I whip out a different game from my bag to make it 4...

He inspects all my freaking discs for 10 seconds each. WTH? What a fucking dick employee. In the end I got charged $4 in refurb fees for what should have been $1. Only one disc was scratched. Considering how I've traded in over 30+ games there I didn't say anything, but just walked out the door.

Now I know of one employee I should ignore.
am I the only one who hasn't tried to press the issue with that coupon? I used it once (legit cause I preordered NCAA for my friend).
I haven't used any at all. Granted most of the games I traded in wouldn't have qualified. I didn't want to push the issue since the GS guys let me trade in duplicates and use multiple coupons. Because the NCAA preordering ended, I was rewarded with a handful of the preorder bonus cards and the promise for more. Now I just need more BB price drops so I'll have more trade fodder.
I would love to know how much time it took you to do all that. I took $200 out of pocket and turned it into 1,000, and that was with hitting 3 entirely different cities in 6 days.
It took me 12 days
5 days to get BB store credit then when last tuesday came 7 days to buy the games at BB and trade em at GS. Haha on top of that i was still at my job: 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, haha yeah so dont think i dont have a life, I was a pretty busy bee these past couple weeks. Haha the prior week before all this, I had no idea BBV let you trade in games. Thanks CAG. ;)

Got Blacksite for $16.24, went right to GR and flipped for $34.

:D;

I noticed at the BBV I traded in Blacksite that they have the display of B1G1 games, and then in another section they have the rest of the games, but a lot of the games were ones listed in the OP (Call of Duty 3, Smackdown 2007, Just Cause) but listed at $19.99......I did see a few Wii games at $14.99 and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground PS3 was $14.99

My local GS has..

4x BlackSite PS3 (Used)
6x Rockband PS3 (Used)
12x Kain & Lynch (Used)
2x History Channel BOTP PS3 (USed)
10+x Time Crisis 4 USED

Im going to go ahead and pick up a majority of them games besides Kain & Lynch

also, if you just take in the discs, not only does it save you time with the stickers, you get all the cases to keep... I got about 50 since I started just taking in the discs to GS. I like the wii ones the best, but the MUA/Forza 2 double one is cool too since it has the extra disc flap.
No shit. But the fact that one GS store charges no tax and one does is interesting cosidering that all states have some sort of sales tax.
Wrong!

Anyway, I remember in the few times I ever bought stuff at EB in a sales tax state using the old Edge card I always seemed to get charged sales tax.

Back to BBV: traded in a :ps3: Rock Band (still $33, surprise, surprise).
I also saw that my little local store had DS lites in stock. If they have 'em, then I'm sure most do. I probably ought to get one, but then I don't really need it and my BBV credit is running low...

Oh, also I was perusing the B1G1 rack and noticed they put the Marc Ecko's Getting Up Collector's Edition tin I traded a long time ago in there with a $6.99 tag ;).

I have MUA/Forza double pack whats the trade in value at GS if I take them in DISC's only?

How much for Marvel Ultimate alliance?
How much for Forza 2?

Was able to find 3 Blacksites, a Rock Band, and a HC:BFTP in my area; flipped them and was able to get a Wii today for about $20 less credit than I started with today.

So $205 ---> $1142.52

I tried to preorder Madden 09 at the employees request at GS (for the 20% extra credit) but no matter what he tried, it didn't go through. I still got $108.85 for the trades, but throwing down a $5.00 preorder to make about $15- $20 extra seems worth it IMO (if you dont like to push the NCAA 09 coupon like me). And just to clarify, it goes toward your trade, NOT the game. Only $5 goes towards the game. So if you plan to trade 10 games at a time like I do, this is definitely worth it.

Oh, also I was perusing the B1G1 rack and noticed they put the Mack Ecko's Getting Up Collector's Edition tin I traded a long time ago in there with a $6.99 tag ;).
I bought Overlord (360) at BBV yesterday during the B1G1 sale so I could flip it to Gamestop, I notice the disc was in perfect condition, then I see a receipt tucked away behind the manuel which was my old receipt with my Credit Card Info :) awesome stuff (this was the same one I traded back in March at BBV)
