Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Guitar Hero On Tour

Ok, I guess the GS->BB->GS combo has ended since the coupon officially sucks for at leas another week and the b1g1 should be over by then.

But there still is some good flips out there if you can find them at tru, warioware and DK BB. But I'm done...done I say. The itch has finally subsided and I got a lot of sh*t to do tomorrow since I'm transferring to Garden Grove. Can you f*cking believe that since my company assigned me a pc I am responsible for it. I have to take it with me to Garden Grove. So weird, but I guess it makes employees less likely to f*ck up their pcs if you pin it on them. Plus I dont mind taking the 24" acer monitor they got me anyways... :)

I hope you guys can still net some profit in the coming days, as for me I'll keep checking in and hoping for something to break in the new GS and BBs near my new work.

What is the best current GS promo if you can't use the xtra $15 coupon? Also, is BB taking in wii sports? I never could quite reach a conclusion by reading this thread. I will call tomorrow if I don't find an answer? Also, TIV please or I'll get that too tomorrow. Thanks!!!

GS is doing the trade 3/4/5 get an extra 10/20/30% bonus. Thats the only thing going on right now if you can't get the $15 coupon to work

I can confirm that Wii Sports trades in for only $2.50. This $36 non-sense is well just non-sense.

Flip History:

To long to post out, but I essentially turned only $50 in cash into aprox $500 GS credit...nothing better then having 3 GS and 3 BBV within a 3 mile radious!

Well, my trip tonight netted me a Patapon to keep, and a Manhunt 2 paired up with that to flip. I also got some Spyro's and a PS2 Manhunt. So now I have 2 sets of 5 games to take to GS - each loaded with an Iridium Runners and Golden Compass ;).

And so far from this second phase I've gotten Platypus and Patapon for the PSP to keep - not too bad for casually checking 3 stores.

Some more games:

:psp:
Platypus $6.99 at BB, sells for $8.99 used at GS (so probably $1.50 - $3)

:ps2:
Graffiti Kingdom $6.99 -> $2.50
Hitman Blood Money $14.99 at BB, sells for $14.99 used at GS
Jumper $6.99 at BB, sells for $7.99 used at GS (so probably $1.50 - $3)
Tony Hawk Proving Ground $9.99 at BB, sells for $17.99 used at GS

Well, I'm pretty much done -- I've ransacked almost all of the nearby BBV's and pissed off enough GS people trading back crappy games for ludicrous prices.

I had one psycho GS manager freak out and start accusing me of photocopying coupons in the middle of the store because my 20% off web coupon is black and white. I tried to explain to him how laser printers print only in black and white, but he was really freaking out about it and insistent. Wtf? Call corporate?

EDIT: Uh-oh! Is there another potential big flip here with Blast Works? http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191676

were you using multiple coupons at the same time? or like walking the stuff to your car & coming back w/ another coupon & using it again? or was it just cause it was black & white? seems sorta crazy. but gamestop employees are constantly afraid of being fired from what i understand. that's why i think they push pre-orders so high.

personally i've found the ppl at the local blockbuster a lot nicer & easier going; if BB starts carrying more games i'll end up switch most of my business over there. BB has like a 4"x9" framed print of the SC4 chars you get if you pre-order there btw. cooler than a keychain imo. especially since every1 w/ keys already has a keychain.

BB used prices -

$44.99 - :wii: SSBB
$14.99 - :gc: LoZ: TP, Pokémon XD, :ps2: FFX, :xbox: NGB

$4.99 - :ps2: GC, :xbox: SW: KotOR (or was it $6.99)

GS TIVS -
Traded in a whole bunch of games (55 total) on Thursday, mostly licensed titles. Anything with a TIV less than $3 I was too lazy to type up, sorry! Just think of more licensed junk and you'll get an idea of what else I traded in. Overall I lost some money in the process, but it was quite funny getting $0.25 for some games.

:gc:
Ice Age 2 - $4
LoZ: TP - $15
MtR - $4
Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island - $5
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness - $10

BB/GR has been selling Blastworks new for 29.99 since it was released so I doubt there is much (if any) flip potential.

What a terrible coupon for this week. I was half suspecting a 25% off Wii games. Oh well! Let's hope next week goes well. I'm going to try and get my driver's license then, so I hope to really be able to get out and about to the different stores before the head upstate for college. :D

They were for a while, but then they raised it back up to $39.99. I think they must not have gotten the memo on what MSRP was supposed to be. Having said that, I still doubt there's much, if any, flip potential.

I mentioned this in the Gamestop ad/coupon thread, but for all of us who flip games from GS to BB, this will come in handy. Maybe its old news, but I just noticed it this morning.

When Gamestop overhauled their website, one big complaint we all had was that you only saw the 3 closest stores that had an item in stock. Looking at other areas required trying other zip codes. Well, it looks like they heard the complaints because now there's a 'view more' link that shows a more fleshed out listing of stores further out from the zip code.

Just called...Blast Works BB/GR TIV is $9.

Can anyone give me a link to GS game stock locator please? Also, say I trade in SSBB (original TIV=$30) with 4 other games at GS (5 total) and with the promo and edge stacked together, I'd get 40% more trade in credit which would mean that SSBB would yield me $42??? Also, I just noted that the TIV for Boom Blox is $20 at gamestop which with the promo would yeild $28 if you dig what I'm gettin at.

Too bad it still doesnt list quantity.
Well, my trip tonight netted me a Patapon to keep
I can't stop playing Patapon! Any of you who own a PSP (or will be getting one soon), definitely nab a used copy at BB if you see one. It's fun.
Too bad it still doesnt list quantity.
True, but at least this latest enhancement is a step in the right direction. Makes it a little more convenient, then you can always call to double check and/or ask about quantity. I've had some GS clerks refuse to tell me quantity a couple times for whatever reason. I've even been denied when trying to buy all the copies of a used game before once or twice. "You need to leave at least one for other people". Dude, isn't the whole idea of Gamestop to sell as many used games as possible? Baffled my mind.

.
NOPE. I did try using an extra $15 coupon, was told I couldn't and asked why I had a copy, told them I just found it online. So I just traded my stuff with the extra 30%, and he wouldn't let me use the other coupon only because it was black and white and therefore a copy. I only put it through because the manager was doing stock or something behind the counter and another employee was ringing me up...and he had forgotten to yank the pennied Mario Galaxy CE Guide out of my hands. So, I'll just return them to the shitty store in the mall that I have a grudge against.

went to bbv today to return Mario Power Tennis for GC (the disc wasn't in the case) and they just refunded me $16.08 in cash back o_O pretty awesome...

Also traded in the following:

Octomania (Wii) - $23
WarioWare (Wii) - $23

Here are a few more TIV's at BBV for today:
Fishing Master (Wii) = $16
Puppy Love (Wii) = $23
Blacksite Area Area 51 (PS3) = $33
Heading to Blockbuster soon(No gamerush), any games that I can grab from GS that have a high trade in cost??
Here's a list of some great flips (mostly 3 to 1 in $!):

You know. I feel kinda bad buying an Eye Of Judgment w/ starter deck & booster pack for $9 shipped off of ebay considering i'm flipping the game for $36 and can get $20 cash just from 3 of the cards in the deck. Ah well, Gods & Clods I guess.

I got myself another 2 Fatal Inertias for $20 total. I also got a 360 version of Kane & Lynch for $12 (by mistake, no idea if the 360 version gets the same amt as PS3).
A quick question... Has the 20% off EB/GS expired yet?
Yes it expired.

I am now down to my last $13 in BBV credit. I currently have 8 games to bring to GS later on and I'm thinking of buying 2 more later on. I've sold 2 $9.99 games and 1 $14.99 for $10 cash to people I know :). I would have told them that BB had those games on sale, but I cleaned all the BBV's around here of those certain games. I was also watching my friend play Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony that I sold him and I regret not keeping my second copy>_
does anyone have any luck pre ordering Madden PSP pack at GameRush or BB?
A couple of people have confirmed that they are taking orders for the Madden PSP. I would go get it at GS to avoid $14 in taxes though.
A couple of people have confirmed that they are taking orders for the Madden PSP. I would go get it at GS to avoid $14 in taxes though.
BB charges tax because they give you sales tax on the trade-in...so its kind of six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Oh, but for pre-orders at BBV, though, you only pay tax on the final price. I put 88.99 down on Wii Fit (max amount is MSRP - $1) and paid 1.08 to pick it up.
Are you saying GS doesn't charge tax?

My GS charges tax...
Different tax laws for different states. I never get charged tax when using store credit.

What do you mean they already pay you tax? If the $33 TIV already has taxes put into it, I understand. But does your BB give you $33+tax or something?

i want to get it in GRush or BB cus i have tons of credit at GS that i can flip to BB.

Yes. Every BBV in a 25 mile radius except for one gives sales tax on top of the $33 TIV...so its actually about $35.XX TIV ;D
i want to get it in GRush or BB cus i have tons of credit at GS that i can flip to BB.
Then pay it in full if you have enough credit; theoretically, you should be able to save on the tax, but YMMV.

for my BB trade in, they give you tax. For Example $10 TIV and plus tax that is my total value at my card, but when you use it, it charges tax. so it is all even out.
for my BB trade in, they give you tax. For Example $10 TIV and plus tax that is my total value at my card, but when you use it, it charges tax. so it is all even out.
You see, mine doesn't do that. I get the $30 TIV and then when I buy something I get charged tax. I always lose money because of tax.

I just got back from BBV to use my remaining $13 in credit and I bought dead head fred in hopes that it would be a good flip... Sells for $9.99 used at GS. Crap flip FTW!

Oh, boy - here we go again with the different tax issues ;). This comes up without fail about once every 3 months or so. Just to add to the mess: when traveling for work in the past I would sometimes trade at BB's in MD and VA. In MD I would not get tax added to my trade-ins while in VA I would. You actually make more money in places where they give you the tax, of course, because chances are you bought something much cheaper to flip so you gain on the sales tax. I thought that was pretty weird. I only ever bought one thing out there though (a 1600 points card when my local stores were completely devoid of any new games or accessories) and paid tax on it of course (in VA - didn't try buying in MD).

Woot! I'm finally done with the flipping until August 26th when I come back from vacation.

My running totals for this month are:

$220 in GS credit
$40 in cash
and a $130 gift card from BB that got stolen/lost.

Not a bad month at all considering I started with $40 in BBV credit on the 2nd or so. I had to gradually work my way up and was always short GS credit when there were a lot of good flips around. If that first gift card hadn't mysteriously disappeared into an employee's hand I would easily have had about $300 in GS credit.

And for the OP I have;

:psp:Dead Head Fred $9.99->$4.20

I also bought Afterburner: Black Falcon and it is a fun game. If any of you have a PSP, I suggest giving it a try. Afterburner back in the Sega Genesis days was such a fun game. This game was definitely worth the $10 my cousin paid me for it ;). And if you guys have ever played a game like Runescape or Diablo(who hasn't?) give Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony a try too. Surprisingly, it is a lot of fun even though it only has a 7.4/10 on GameRankings.
$4.20 sounds like a GS TIV of $3. Is that really BBV?
No idea what you are trying to ask me.

It's $9.99 at BBV and it trades into GS for $4.20(base of $3.00).

Happened to be in Toys R US and there was a HUGE supply of super monkey balls and Fantastic Fours (wii). This was strange because they were sold out during the whole flip thing some weeks back. So i still figure ill grab one of each to keep for myself and what do you know they BOTH scan $20. And BOTH rung up $20. Guess they thought the certain surge in demand for these games were because people wanted them to keep and not flip.
