ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are taking preorders for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Star Wars Force Unleashed, and possibly a few other games (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. Most still do not sell handheld systems (a few apparently sell the DS but I've never seen them there). As a result of not selling used hardware, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of your choice of new games (though, it seems, some stores have stopped taking preorders). On the other hand, some regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for a few select mega-release titles (recent examples: Halo 3, SSBB, Mario Kart, GTA IV).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
Well, I cashed out last night and got a ps3. For right now, I'm really only getting it for the Blu-Ray. I've promised my wife I wouldn't get any games for it for 2 months.
What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her...

I play too many games online with my friends to sell my 360. But I feel guilty every time I look over at my Wii and realize how many good games I'm neglecting.
What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her...
I don't see any possible way I could pull that off. All she has to do is walk into the room and see the PS3 controller in my hands without a movie on the TV and I'm done for.:D

Tell her you modded the controller to work on the 360? Or tell her you pirated the game(s)* ;)

*don't actually pirate games :D

So, I think I may be cut off from any more Darkness...or at least, the supply is drying up in my area.

Are there any other good flips other than the Target clearance?

And does Madden '06 still get $8 or did it drop? GS seems to have raised the price to $6 from $4, and there's no more 10% off coupon, so that ship may have sailed...
The 10% off GS coupon lives until 3/28, check the thread :). Used it on a ps2 memory card yesterday.
What does it have to do with BB/GR?

It has to do with flipping games from GS to BB/BR, unless flipping isn't the point of this thread? Last post on the previous page said the coupon had died, i was reassuring that it lives.

Scored Pikmin 2 (no manual) at BB today. They had nothing else I wanted, so I got Table Tennis & traded it for $8. Also used $15 of my credit at one BB to buy Tomb Raider & Flatout: Ult. Carnage & flip them at another BB where I had $40 in credit (they wont give me a value card cuz they said they want me to use my credit at their store).

The new GS Coupon seems decent for flippers trying to get GS credit...

I will try and check how much GS gives (base) for Madden 08... Plus, it also depends on how much Madden costs at GR.

Obviously it looks like it won't be a 1:1 flip, but maybe it will be close.

EDIT: Looks like Madden 08 (Xbox 360) only gets $14 base. Very weak, scratch this idea.

:360:
Fatal Inertia $35 (TIV)

I don't think BB/GR is taking Spider-Man Friend or Foe :360: any more, I tried traded one into a store that didn't even have any sitting out to buy and the system wouldn't let them take it.

Foolishly used up some more credit today. Foolish since I wanted to save some of it for Mario Kart Wii if they take preorders, but oh well. Probably throw some of it on Goozex.

14.99
The Guy Game - PS2 (lol, remember buying these up 3 years ago when I worked at BB to sell. I believe they never pulled it from shelves) no cover insert, doh
Street Fighter Anniv Collection - PS2
Full Auto - 360 (no manual, doh)
Valkyrie Profile 2 - (no manual, doh)

9.99
Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol 1 - PS2 (no manual, doh)
2x Chromehounds - Xbox 360
Perfect Dark Zero (no manual, doh)
anyone have a coupon for a blockbuster game rental?
MyCokeRewards is the best way to get free rental coupons. I think it's 80 pts for a game rental now, but if you drink coke, it won't take much time to get that.

Just to clear up confusion, the coupon only gives you $20 flat (does not stack with their normal tiv) GS credit ONLY towards the pre-order of Madden 09 or NCAA 09
Wait....GameStop gives $14 for Madden 08 or GameRush?

What does GameRush give?
Not sure what GR gives but it doesn't matter since I was planning on buying Madden from GR then flipping it to GS. But if AC GS only gives $34, I highly doubt GR has it for remotely close to that. Probably $39.99 at the best.

re-reading the coupon, this is true.... nowhere does it say additional $20 or bonus.

Well #$%^, no wonder everyone is saying its a horrid coupon.

I tried...

Picked up RSV:2 at my store....yeah!

Not much for $14.99 games. They had Scarface and Katamari for PSP, but I passed. Flatout for the 360 was tempting also....I may get that eventually here. We'll see.

picked up:

wii avatar (suppose to be 16.99)
360 prey (probably gonna flip it back to them or gamecrazy)

hoping my bb gets rsv2 today

As of today 3-21-08 TIV's for the following Wii games:
SSX Blur 16
Sega Bass Fishing 16

Mercury Meltdown Revolution 9
Cars 9
Avatar the Last Airbender 9
Spongebob Creature from the Crusty Crab 9
anyone happen to notice if BB got condemned bloodshot for ps3 today?
I saw that 3 days ago, rent and to buy.

TIVs
:360:
Need for Speed Carbon $15
Ratatouille $8

:Wii:
Alien Syndrome $16 (still)

I can't find Flatout :360: :( Almost bought one at Game Crazy today for $16.99 used but then I slapped myself.

I bought a few PS2 games yesterday from BB/GR....80% had no instructions. Couldn't pass up B1G1 free though.

TIV's from today: 360 - Juiced 2 $22, The Darkness $25, DW5 Empires $19, Live 07 $12, Bee Movie $22.

Wii - Avatar: TBE $23

Anyone have a list of 360 games that are 14.99 and under? Mine is horrible at keeping prices updated. Still had Prey marked 24.99. All the games are just thrown in a bin.

I just had a semi-negative experience with a BBGR employee today. I guess this must be what most of you face all the time. I asked the employee if I could preorder Wii Fit yet and he told me the only preorders they are doing are Mario Kart and GTA IV. He's not a manager and I didn't see any of the regular managers around. The other managers can preorder me basically anything as long as I ask a week ahead of time.

If all the employees were ignorant like this, I would want to stab my eyes out.

Moral of the story: Ask for a manager and ask them if they could check the system.

Picked up some more today:

MGS 2 Substance (PS2) $14.99
Devil May Cry (PS2) $9.99
Mario Gold Toadstool Tour (GC) $14.99
Zelda Four Swords (GC) $9.99

OK, by going through the last few pages (seems you could have done this ;)):

$9.99
Chromehounds
Earth Defense Force
Kameo
MLB 2K7
Ninety-Nine Nights
Perfect Dark Zero
Prey
The Outfit
Top Spin 2
X-Men

$14.99
Cars
Eragon
Flatout UC
Full Auto
King Kong
Lego Star Wars II Original Trilogy
Quake 4
Ratatouille
Shrek the Third
Tomb Raider Legend

I'll add these to the OP. If I missed any let me know and also I'd like confirmation of the prices on Quake and Prey as it seems people reported both $14.99 and $9.99 prices for each without clarifying if the $9.99 were price mistakes that needed to be overriden.

I just saw Quake at 19.99 at one bb, and saw it recently for 14.99 at another. I think the first is lazy on pricing though, as there was a Flatout UC used for 44.99!!! Also saw that at the 2nd for

I went to 2 BBs today and picked up these games:

$6.99:
Custom Robo (GC)
Avatar (GC)
Arc the Lad: End of Darkness (PS2)
ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails (PSP)

$9.99
Just Cause (PS2)
Metal Slug 4&5 (PS2)
Fatal Frame 2 (Xbox)
Psychonauts (Xbox)
Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 (PS2)
Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 1 (PS2)
Mercenaries (Xbox)
Darkstalkers Chronicle (PSP)

$14.99
Ratatouille (PS2)
Guilty Gear Isuka (PS2)

Cost around $80 total.
OK, by going through the last few pages (seems you could have done this ;)):

$9.99
Chromehounds
Earth Defense Force
Kameo
MLB 2K7
Ninety-Nine Nights
Perfect Dark Zero
Prey (possibly $14.99?)
Quake 4 (or $14.99?)
The Outfit
Top Spin 2
X-Men

$14.99
Cars
Eragon
Flatout UC
Full Auto
King Kong
Lego Star Wars II Original Trilogy
Ratatouille
Shrek the Third
Tomb Raider Legend

You can add ...
Sonic the Hedgehog (360) $14.99
Viva Pinata - $14.99

NCAA 07 Football - $9.99
NBA 2K7 - $9.99
Madden 07 - $14.99 (Think I saw one at my local Target though so I'll check on the price of that one first)
Call of Duty 2 - $14.99
Tony Hawk Project 8 - $14.99

Seems that the Blockbusters around me can't agree on what prices to sell some of the games at. For example, Ratatouille was $14.99 at one blockbuster, but $20 at 2 others. Same with Tony Hawk Project 8

Could be franchise locations.
Could be franchise locations.
Nah, all of the Blockbusters around me are corporate. I think it might have something to do with the condition of the games. However, the copy of Ratatouille I got is virtually flawless and came with the case and manual. Actually, out of all the games I got this one was in the best condition. My Tomb Raider Legend is gonna have to get buffed at Gamecrazy, but hell it was 7.50.

I am sure you meant other way round
