ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are taking preorders for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Star Wars Force Unleashed, and possibly a few other games (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. Most still do not sell handheld systems (a few apparently sell the DS but I've never seen them there). As a result of not selling used hardware, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of your choice of new games (though, it seems, some stores have stopped taking preorders). On the other hand, some regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for a few select mega-release titles (recent examples: Halo 3, SSBB, Mario Kart, GTA IV).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Another drunk evening...huh!!
It's funny, because when I posted that I wasn't drunk. Right now however, I am distorted by some Disaronno.

I also got angry at the Flagstaff GameCrazy and rented MvC2 from the Hollywood Video with no intention of returning it. They can charge me the $29.99 rent to own fee if they feel like it.
Nah, all of the Blockbusters around me are corporate. I think it might have something to do with the condition of the games. However, the copy of Ratatouille I got is virtually flawless and came with the case and manual. Actually, out of all the games I got this one was in the best condition. My Tomb Raider Legend is gonna have to get buffed at Gamecrazy, but hell it was 7.50.
It was probably just lazy merchandizing. I've seen games stickered at different prices, and, upon having them scanned, saw they came up as the lowest one I've seen.

Occassionally, disc-only former rentals will be priced crazy low -- like the XenoSaga II that was $2.99. Got it with some Xmen game, considering credit is about $0.50 on the dollar and the BOGO, I turned it into 150 Goozex points the same day for $0.75 ($2 even after shipping/mailer). :D
Depending on how much HoV still gets, this might be a good flip. With buy 2 for $30 at CC.
Eh, I'm pretty sure I bought every copy B&M within 20 miles of me.
Yes.
Let me rephrase that... Has anyone traded in Eragon recently and if so what's the current TIV?

(you know what I meant Kunai);)
Let me rephrase that... Has anyone traded in Eragon recently and if so what's the current TIV?

(you know what I meant Kunai);)
Since I just picked it up with the BOGO as a $15 game, probably $8.

TIV's from today:

:wii:
-Manhunt 2 $23

:360:
-Two Worlds $28.50 (Tried before flipping...HAHAHA!!! I've played better looking Lynx games!!)
-Wireless Controller $22

:xbox:
-Burnout 3 Takedown $2.50
-Jade Empire LE $2.50

-saw a discount rack at one bb/gr location here that had Belkin IPOD Accessories 50% off. Got a headphone splitter for $2.

- Picked up Earth Defence Force 2017 (360) for 9.99 and got Mega Man Ann Collection (GC) for free. (Mega Mans 1-8 on Wii for ~$5)

- Wouldn't accept any 360 accessories aside from controllers

- Wouldn't take Wii Play without remote (GS offered $9! Sold solo for $30, no remote :shame:)

- One employeee asked the other if they take (obviously) printed out covers, the other said yeah, he (me) makes really nice ones too. (WORST COVERS EVER!- seriously. I was almost out of ink. I almost took game seperate because they were embarrising....scanned though!

- Had a bunch of OLD xbox games, cleaning house, and thought I'd try if they'd take them. Most notably, she took all the dual-disc not for resale discs at the value of one after looking up....i.e. Top Spin/NCAA Football -$1 & Tetris/SW Clone Wars. All Star Baseball 03 was 50 cents! Most misc titles were $1-2.

- Picked up Uncharted to try out my new shiny :ps3:

Just picked up the last two Blue Dragon in West Des Moines Target (100th & University) but they were 14.98. Flipped one at blockbuster for 22.00 plus tax.
NCAA 07 Football - $9.99
NBA 2K7 - $9.99
Madden 07 - $14.99 (Think I saw one at my local Target though so I'll check on the price of that one first)
Call of Duty 2 - $14.99
Tony Hawk Project 8 - $14.99

Seems that the Blockbusters around me can't agree on what prices to sell some of the games at. For example, Ratatouille was $14.99 at one blockbuster, but $20 at 2 others. Same with Tony Hawk Project 8
V. tennis 3 for the psp

1 store 9.99 got it
2 other stores 29.99

should take it over to one of those places selling it for 30 and see what i pops up for since i have no use for it .

should of grabbed xenosaga 3 for 9.99

PSP and DS games rarely get alot (I would say less then 10). I'm surprised people are going for Blue Dragon as a flipper as it doesn't get double the TIV.

*Double Post* I know but its got a good reason,

MGS4 Limited Edition, as posted in the MGS4 thread, anyone who works at BB/GR know if they are gonna get the LE? That would be freakin sweet!!!

Picked up in TN:

Tomb Raider Legend (360): $14.99
Pikmin 2 (GC): $14.99 (free)

Both were complete, discs in perfect shape.... sweet.

I'll check tomorrow, but if it is like GTA IV if you preorder it we will make sure that we get a copy.

I know alot of people share your view, but i dont look at getting double or triple my money(ok maybe i do on a small scale) but the major driving force for me how much money total profit i am making. I would rather flip Blue Dragon and make 8 dollars than buy a 3 dollar game and flip it for 9(6 dollar total profit) and make triple the value. That just my 2 cents.

I was just saying any of the clearance ps3 games are more profitable, also Avatar/Bee movie are both 12.48 and trade for the same as Blue Dragon (22)...also don't forget the target coupon :)

TIVs given by phone today:

Stranglehold (360) $25
Rainbow Six Vegas (360) $15
Viva Pinata Party Animals (360) $15
Folklore (PS3) $36

went to a couple bbv/gr's in my area...no good games worth spending my last $25 of credit..oh well...got one more place i will have to look tomorrow. Will report my findings then

I went to Blockbuster and was a bit surprised by their selection. I only grabbed Burnout Dominator for PSP (missing its manual unfortunately) and Earth Defense Force for the 360. After B1G1 free, it was 10.76. Thanks OP.
BTW, OT, but they had Burnout Dominator and Burnout Legends. Is Legends a better game or did I make the right choice?

TIVs 3.23.08

NHL 2k8 (PS3) - $23
Assassin's Creed (360) - $35
Avatar - $22
Juiced 2 - $22

Sadly, they didn't have any Kingdom Hearts II to sell to me used.
Just a heads up, BB has House of the Dead 2 & 3 for Wii is available for sale...I picked it up yesterday...
Same for Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and Condemned 2 pick them up yesterday as well.
bioshock was stickered 34.99 but rang up 29.99
Sounds like the Bioshock TIV will change on Tuesday...

Hmmm, I wonder if I should dump RSV for $15 now....I have part 2 and I doubt I'll go back to part 1 now. Thanks for the value also. I may dump that and Madden 08 tomorrow.

Do it man. You don't need Vegas 1 now that you have 2.

Tomorrow will be focusing on target clearance games! Anyone have any trade in prices for games that might go way down tomorrow at target? Simpson, PGR4 etc...

I still cant find a folklore!

io, I don't know if you're planning on keeping up with the list of games available for purchase at Blockbusters, but I saw House of the Dead 2&3 and DQ Swords for Wii, and Bully for 360. Still no DQS for rental, but I did rent HotD and Bully Wii. Been a while since I could put my coupons to use.

Question. Has anyone seen the standalone RB drum kits at BB or GR locations? I'm wondering what the chances of them getting in the standalone guitars are.

Does anyone know the trade in value for Madden 08 for the PS2? Also does BB take games without the case and manual? All I have is the disc.

Anyone want a copy of Elite Beat Agents before I trade it in? They'll give me $8 for it, so if anyone want to trade a $11 BB giftcard or $11 paypal (the extra $3 being shipping), let me know.

DQ Swords just got transferred from retail to rental, at my store this past sunday. Depending on when your store does transfers (and if DQS was never sold) that may be happening this week.

Just got back from GameRush in Grandview, MO. TIV for the wiki:

:360: MLB 2K6: $6
:360: NBA Live 06: $6
:360: College Hoops 2K6: $2

Up to $205 now, saving for a PS3.

Ugh Blockbuster....tried to switch my reservation from the regular to the special edition of GTA, guy said they weren't getting any in but there is a chance at there being some 'freebie'. Oh well...maybe more luck with MGS4.
