ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are taking preorders for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Star Wars Force Unleashed, and possibly a few other games (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. Most still do not sell handheld systems (a few apparently sell the DS but I've never seen them there). As a result of not selling used hardware, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of your choice of new games (though, it seems, some stores have stopped taking preorders). On the other hand, some regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for a few select mega-release titles (recent examples: Halo 3, SSBB, Mario Kart, GTA IV).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
$28.50 for 360
$30 or so for PS3 & Wii
I hope that lasts one more week. I have a few other GS's that I need to hit up for STT and Strangleholds

Used STT's are hard to find. I finally found one PS3 version and someone punched a hole in the UPC. I hope BB takes it by manually entering it into the system.
Traded in 3 Stranglehold last week. If you have a Microcenter nearby, get Narnia. $10 => $30.

I have found 1 Strangleholds and 2 STT so far (1 wii and 1 PS3) I might have to attempt to find the Microcenter, its not close to the house but work has me going that way. I found that my GS has a couple of more STT and another Stranglehold so I will have to snag them up today.

Two GameCrazies told me Cars is getting $3.30, guys.

Looks like THPG isn't worth it because its still $19.98 at my Target (unless it dropped today), I might flip a couple of $10 Timeshifts, though.

Bullet Witch and Monster Madness are both $4 TIVs here, right? They're the same at GS, so I'll be taking them there (woohoo, trade-2-get-$10 is back!) Is there anything else cheap that can be flipped to GS with this promo?

You are talking about used STT and Strangleholds right? the new ones are $20 each and after tax I'm not sure whether they are still worth flipping. Also, don't waste your gas to microcenter. I don't think there are still any Wii version Narnia left. You might want to call before you go.

Traded:

Condemned 2 (360): $35
Viking (360): $35

(Was quoted $2 for Project Gotham Racing 3)

Noticed Condemend 2 priced at $50 in the used 360 section... not sure what that's about. Also noticed Blue Dragon for $20.

Thay had The Incredible Hulk in for rental but not for purchase.:censored: Also picked up Dark Sector (360) for $40. There was no manual when I first checked the display box, but there it was when I got home. Now I've got an extra one that I just stole from Gamestop...#-o

Cabela's African Safari 12
Battlestations Midway 12
Tony Hawk Proving Ground LE (not in system so he entered it as regular) 12
FIFA 07 22

PS3
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 20
NCAA March Madness 30

Wait, is that really fifa 07 getting 22 or is was that a typo (fifa 08)? Thanks.

Fifa 07 :360: has been getting $22 for a while. I also saw Timeshift for $26.99 so that should be going down from $17 tomorrow I would think.

Yea Used of course with a gain of something close to 2:1 which is alright, not great but alright.
Two GameCrazies told me Cars is getting $3.30, guys.
Yeah, note that I did mention this yesterday or so ;). I think the first store might have given me the trade-in value for Cars Mater-National even though he had the game there to scan. Either that or it was $9 just a few weeks ago.
History Channel Civil War 15
Excellent, thanks! My store couldn't find this in the system. Note that this is like $4 at Gamecrazy. I wonder what it is at GS though?

Traded a PS3 Stranglehold and declined to trade GTA4 when they quoted the TIV as $28.50. Guess I'll trade GTA and something else to GS and get something better to trade at GR with the $10 bonus.

For those of you who don't have one, I highly recommend getting a phone. They eventually pay for themselves, and you'll always be one-up on the latest TIV.

Confirmed.

:360: Fifa 07 - $22

Hell, I might go as far as recommending a cell phone to call for trade-in values.
Plus, cell phones are mobile. :)

Well I had a decent day today.

Had a small plan.

Went to two Targets (they are within 5 miles of each other). Picked up COD 2 and Viva Pinata (only two xbox360 games they had on clearance) used two of the $10 off coupons (they wouldnt let me use the $5 off $25 one also). Got them for $8.50.

At the second Target they had 3 of the American Idol:KR on clearance still. I grabbed one and was allowed to use the $10 off AND th $5 of $25 coupon. The guy here I have talked to before and is cool. So walked out with that for about $21.00.

Total spent: $29.50

Went to Gamestop and Traded COD2 and Viva Pinata (wish I had found something other then COD2 but whatever). Got $2.00 for COD2 and $5.00 for VP. Plus the $10 Next gen bonus. Total of $17.00.

Then I bought the used Stranglehold PS3 for $17.99. I think after tax I ended up spending about $2.00.

Total spent: $31.50
Games in possession: AI:KR, Stanglehold PS3

Went to BB/GR and trade in AI:KR and Stranglehold for a total of $71.00

So I turned $31.50 into $71.00 in about two hours total. Not bad.

I have MGS4 on preorder and with my trade in of NCAA08 March Madness for $30 I have $101 on my BB/GR account by spending a total of $34.00.

Thanks CAG!

I went to gamestop and got Stranglehold PS3 and Sega Superstars Tennis PS3 for $32 total

walked 2 doors down and trade them both at blockbuster and got $70, 10 mins worth of work

I decided to preorder and payoff Metal Gear 4 with my credit, and they recieved MGS4 from UPS while I was trading in

Haha nice. At least they will have it on the true street date for you it sounds. I hope mine is like that and not behind lol.

fuck ing epic trading day for me, day to end all trading days (for me):

Hit up target and picked up 4 of the triple packs for 20 bucks, and began my adventure to the 5 gamestops to start flipping.

The triple packs balanced out into: Fusion Frenzy $10.50, Open Season $10.50, and Cars $9.40 (after bonus and edge card) Threw in some Madden 07's I've had sitting around (2ps3, 1wii) and pro evo soccer 360.

After all the GS trips I ended up with 150 in GS store credit. In the last store there were signs for b2g1 (which is suppose to start on the 16th according to the manager) so I used 30 in store credit to pick up 3 strangleholds.

Flipped the 3 strangeholds to 3 different BBs (all very close together) for 108 BB store credit.

In the end I walked away with 108 BB store credit, and 120 GS store credit all from 20 dollars spent at target whoohoo. :) :) :)

The 360 version of SST is likely going to drop tommorrow, as the used price is now $39.99.

Also, if you are looking for some BB to GS flips, I found some.
First number is the BB price, second number is the GS trade in value after the $5 bonus. (Before Edge bonus.)

Meet The Robinsons(360)- $6.99 - $10
Spider-man 3(360) $9.99 - $10
Pirates of the Caribbean(360) $9.99 - $10
Monster Madness(360) $9.99 - $10

Awesome, thanks. Too bad I bought both Spiderman 3 and PotC using the infamous 5 for $25 coupon back when (I was trying to be "nice" and buy some cheap stuff along with Bioshock ). I'm not sure my local store has any more but I'll definitely check it out. I'm pretty sure they do have a MTR though. No matter what the opportunity for GS->BB flipping I simply do not need any more Blockbuster credit. I'm up over $800 now with nothing to buy, so I need to get rid of it and if I can convert it back to GS at even or better (MTR) I'm all over it.

I'll probably save enough for a PS3 at Blockbuster (hoping for a new slim model/price drop before I do so though). And maybe a bit for a few games though after that brief flurry of good new stuff (SSBB, Mario Kart, Wii Fit) they are devoid of any good titles for the forseeable future. I plan on renting Star Wars Force Unleashed and that is just about the only new game coming out between now and the Fall that I want to play (that BB is likely to stock). Hopefully they'll pick up again with Fall/Winter releases that have yet to be announced. So, really, I don't see myself spending any of this credit before Oct/Nov - except to pick up a few GS flippables I guess!

Im looking for TIV for any of these games(dont want to call and ask about 10+ games)

They are for the Wii:

- Ghost Squad
- Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
- Williams Pinball Hall of Fame (yes, the one Ship is always talking about)
- Alien Syndrome
- Indianapolis 500 Legends
- Pool Party
- Sonic and the Secret Rings
- SSX Blur
- Sega Bass Fishing
- Cars
- Winter Sports The Ultimate Challenge
- Mercury Meltdown:Revolution
- Spongebob Squarepants Creature from the Krusty Krab
- Avatar:The Last Airbender
- MonkeyBall:Banana Blitz
- Code Lyoko:Quest for Infinity
- Arctic Tale
- Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2

So if anyone has any recent TIV for any of them Id love to hear. Thanks!

Anyone trade THE BIGS in for 360 lately? I picked up a copy for $5 at Target....but the Wiki said $12 about a month ago...not a good return on investment...oh well.
^ Most of those games are pretty old, might be better to trade them in to GS wth the extra $10 deal going on.
Well that is the list from the Costco 10.99 sale going on. Was wondering if any of them were worth picking up. Also does the $10 deal at GS include Wii games?

Just called GS and asked about some trade in values. (Values are after $5 bonus.)

Meet the Robinsons (Wii) $11
EDF2017 (360) $10
Beautiful Katamari $11
Chromehounds $8
Bulletwitch $9

All of these games are $9.99 at BB.
I'm losing track of all these deals and flips, etc.

Stanglehold PS3 is on sale for $10 at Gamestop and the TIV is $30 at BBV?
$10? No.......$30 TIV at BB? No, $36, now your informed
$10? No.......$30 TIV at BB? No, $36, now your informed
Wait... how much is Stranglehold at Gamestop? $19.99 online. Is there a deal I'm missing?

Also, how the hell is GS giving 22 for FIFA 07 when their website has it on sale for $19.99?

$15 or so after EDGE, trade in for $36 at BBV, thats $20+ profit

Gotcha. From an earlier post, it sounded like he got them for $10 each.

thanks
Gotcha. From an earlier post, it sounded like he got them for $10 each.

thanks
He did due to the B2G1 Free SIGNS being up to early at one gamestop, so the manager honored it

It'd be great if someone could post the current best flips from GS to BB/GR. I plan on heading out tomorrow to pick up my copy of Metal Gear Solid IV, and want to start flipping for the games I want in the future. There will be a Target right next to these two stores, so I just want to know what makes the best profit. You guys have been great thus far, and I hope you can do me this favor. I looked through the last 10 pages and believe I have things together, but there were also a lot of doubts as well. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Wow, thanks so much! A stable way to transfer credit is awesome, as I'd much rather have GS credit than BBV credit. No Gamerush's exist here so selection is always pretty dry.

Saw a bunch of Mass Effect copies marked down to $19.99 used. Great deal if you didn't pick it up free from the target deal this week.
Today while at BB, saw new signs for B1G1 ($14.99 and under) behind the counter. So be on the look out.
Hmmmm Id love to know when this kicks in. If it happens while the Gamestop promo is going it could turn out to be pretty decent!

2 at $14.99 Trade in value at GS wold almost be guaranteed to be at least 100% if not more...which would be a great thing to do.
Today while at BB, saw new signs for B1G1 ($14.99 and under) behind the counter. So be on the look out.
Seems like they just left the signs from the last sale lying around.

First Bioshock now Mass Effect? BB is coming through with the cheap used games, I saw a ME, but it was tagged at 44.99 or something I didn't even look twice.
Seems like they just left the signs from the last sale lying around.
Nope, they were in a new box. They had loads of boxes that just came in. Unpacking movies, systems, etc.

Damn, I was just there flipping some games I picked up at target with the coupon. I'll have to go back and use my credit tomorrow.

How long does it take to get games from gamestop online? I'm thinking about ordering a couple strangleholds since there isn't a gs here.
Also, how the hell is GS giving 22 for FIFA 07 when their website has it on sale for $19.99?
It's getting confusing with all of the GS quotes being mixed in here, but FIFA 07 gets 22 TIV at Blockbuster/Gamerush not at Gamestop.

If Blockbuster drops Mass Effect to $19.99 used and does another B1G1, I will be a very happy guy. I've got $90 in store credit wasting away on a gift card and a bunch of older games I'd love to pick up cheap.
