ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are taking preorders for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Star Wars Force Unleashed, and possibly a few other games (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. Most still do not sell handheld systems (a few apparently sell the DS but I've never seen them there). As a result of not selling used hardware, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of your choice of new games (though, it seems, some stores have stopped taking preorders). On the other hand, some regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for a few select mega-release titles (recent examples: Halo 3, SSBB, Mario Kart, GTA IV).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki

I can confirm that Sega Superstars Tennis for the Wii is getting $26.
Sega Superstars Tennis for the PS3 is getting $30. I traded that in today, so in MD, that's the price.

Not too shabby, considering that the NEW prices now are 19.99 for both of these titles. Use 10% off coupon for 17.99 new, or just buy them used if the Gamestop has them.

I've been moving credit from BBV to GS and getting some added bonuses by trading in Strangleholds/SSTs.

Total earned in the past two days is $200. $100 moved to GS from BBV.

Well they dont have any for the PS3...they do for the Wii though but 17.99 x 1.07= $19.25---->$26.00 is only a $6.75 gain. After the gas it takes me to get to both places Im probably looking at a MAX of $3.00 gain. Just not worth it lol.

Ill just sit here and wait for my Spiderwick Chronicles for the Wii to come from Amazon tomorrow and when I got pick up MGS4 tomorrow Ill trade that in for an easy $15 profit. :D
I can see djkunai buying 8 Strangleholds.

Guy: You know you are buying 8 Stangleholds?
djkunai: I am kunai.
hahaha kunai must LOVE all this attention :applause:

Just came back from GR two hours ago and noticed they had the regular MGS4 guides up behind the counter on a display. Asked to see if they had received the bundle in today but they had not have it in stock. The guy was shocked and even told his co-worker, "hey man, we're getting the metal gear bundle" and well hopefully when I go pick it up tomorrow morning they will have them in stock and not sold out cause the workers had bought them already.
so Stranglehold CE gets $33 only or is this also good for the regular Edition?
Lol come on I JUST answered this not even a page back. BOTH get $33.
Lol come on I JUST answered this not even a page back. BOTH get $33.
on top of that has anyone tried trading a regular edition and CE of Straglehold at the same blockbuster? any problems or what not?

Well 15 copies of Spider-man later, and I'm still going strong.
on top of that has anyone tried trading a regular edition and CE of Straglehold at the same blockbuster? any problems or what not?
I traded 3 copies of both versions to 1 store yesterday- ykmv.
on top of that has anyone tried trading a regular edition and CE of Straglehold at the same blockbuster? any problems or what not?
Different codes. Never had a problem. I just said I bought the regular a while back and decided I had wanted to Collector's edition later.
My reg edition gets like 13.50 but CE got 35 on Mon
If by regular edition you mean the 360 version, then yes, that gets 13.50. Both PS3 versions of Stranglehold get you 30.

I was up at the GR near Antioch Mall north of the river in Kansas City. They have two Wii bundles in stock as well as at least 2 of the GoW PSP bundles in case anyone is looking to unload some credit on them.

Can you trade in multiple titles? I could flip like 15 2k8s from 2.50 to 8 but I'm not allowed to buy more than 1 after attempting to purchase 10 at the same time

WOW, you can banned from BB for that. No matter how legally you are doing it. I would watch your self.
Ah I R such Noob haha. Flipped my 7.50 CE for 35 and flipping the other this friday after it's beaten.

Does anyone know if they will get the MGS4 system?
one of my local GR had the 80GB MGS4 bundle had them in when I went tonight.

Here's my haul for tonight:

2.50 a pop at my Best Buy (Vernon Hills) Part of a YMMV Clearance
25 copies of Spider-man later... still not done.
Spiderman Friend or Foe I assume? I'm sure Blockbuster, for once, appreciates you for clearing out their stagnant used game stock ;).

I scooped up a few games to swap from BB over to GS to have some credit there as well.

A few of my game boxes we're sealed with a security sticker and the game disc wasn't actually inside but under the cover art and it fell out as i was opening the box lol.

Also does GS care they aren't in retail box? Just wondering all mine are 360 and Wii titles and they're all in the BB boxes.

nope they dont care. just make sure if there is artwork in the bb boxes to look behind the artwork. i noticed that most of my bb games had the blockbuster rental display behind the actual artwork

I got a call today from the manager of the GR where I preordered the MGS 80gb PS3 bundle. She said that they had received my PS3 today but couldn't sell it until the street date. So I can pick it up tomorrow when they open. :D

Also, started picking up some games to flip to GS. Good to hear that GS doesn't care which case the games are in. Found some games that were in BB cases but still had the artwork. Will use credit at GS to preorder Fallout 3: CE. :whee:
I am a little confused what games are you guys buying from BB and flipping to GS?
Um, look in the OP near the top...

i heard that they are giving free hdmi cables and remote with the MGS4 bundle, can anyone confirm this? I didn't pre-order it at gamerush but I'm sure I can find one since everyone seems to be going nuts over the walmart GC thing.
Um, look in the OP near the top...
Sorry, i missed the discussion(I hop in every now and then) and I usually go to the "Last page".:wall:

So let's see i've been away, working way to much for awhile... From reading back the last several pages I see just Strangehold CE $18 GS -> $30 GR and Sega Superstar Tennis PS3 $18 GS -> $30 GR..

Anything else decent i'm missing? Sorry but all the talk lately seems to be of flipping credit back to GS. Wish i'd kept up with all you flippers i've been away since the later beowulf/darkness days... Couple new games out I want now and i'm to cheap to pay retail! :D

gas prices have stalled me as of late..... so I haven't been Kunai'ing very much lately..... But I've been saving up for the MGS4 bundle and have 400 store credit at BB, and probably gonna get rid of some more games etc.
has anybody kept the movie that comes with the CE Stranglehold?
It's on the game disc.
It's on the game disc.
oh my bad, I thught it was on a seprate disc. As you can tell I havent come across any used strangleholds yet.

Friday...
Going to Gamestop Howell: Spider 3, MTR, MM, VT3, Kat, Viva: should be about $65
Getting Xbox 360 LCD screen!!! w/ $155 in credit left over!!!
Just need a couple good flips to Blockbuster to clean out all their 9.99 games to take to gamestop.
Blockbuster employee was scratching his head...i trade in wii and ps3 games and get 5 9.99 or less 360 games.
Was waiting for a question on why I was buying those cheap games, and most were mispriced, so how did I know which
were cheaper?
Dude, you have no idea.
Quick question. I know this has been answered before but do stores get shipments in on thursdays?
Damnit, DJ Rage, you are 27 noobs.

OUR district gets consoles on Thursdays and most non-street dated titles on Friday. Your bundle should be in store by noon.

These streets are like tampons, 'cause bitches bleed on them.

Sorry I'm getting excited for my first PS3, how was the lines over at GS?
... From reading back the last several pages I see just Strangehold CE $18 GS -> $30 GR and Sega Superstar Tennis PS3 $18 GS -> $30 GR..[/QUOTE

Also Sega Tennis for Wii $18 GS -> 26 GR

I don't think anything else worthwile has been reported. I need to change $54 GS credit to GR, just waiting for the next B2G1 to happen.

Anyone know the TIV's for MLB 07' The Show for the PSP, Virtua Tennis 3 for the PS3, or NHL 2K7 for the PS3?

I'll probably ask this afternoon when I stop by to get MGS4 but I thought I would ask here in case someone has traded them in recently. I found them very cheap at Sears and I'm wondering if they have any flip potential.
