The CAG weight-loss challenge - Week 1 weigh-in NOW! (until 23:59 9/18)

Just coming in to remind people that losing too much weight too fast is as unhealthy as gaining it (and you're likely to gain it back), so you shouldn't lose more than around 2 lbs a week, try not to go over 10 lbs a month or so. If you're losing more than that you're losing muscle. It's best to make a gradual and lasting change.

It's pretty hard to lose weight that fast, but don't kill yourselves trying to make yourselves healthier....

Good advice. Don't make your heart crazy like I did five years ago.

If I missed anyone in the OP, let me know. It's hard to tell who wanted to participate and who just wanted to let people know how much they weighed.

When you weigh in this weekend, be sure to put your new weight in bold at the beginning of your post. It would help me out. (And you can weigh yourself anytime this week, that's just when you need to post it)

Well eight now for the past three weeks I have been sick with what could be Newamonia. I can't really stop going to classes or stop looking for work or anything right now. Losing weight would be the worst thing there also.

i was curious as how you all are going to lose weight. i am in the process of trying to lose 30 lbs myself and i just started jogging in the morning (started 9/11/06).

I have a Y membership, and am going to try the following:

Elliptical machine 10-15 mins, weight machines 5-10 minutes, water running 35-45 mins.

Newamonia? I hear that's deadly.

I want in on this. For the past year I have been living a healthier lifestyle. In July 2005 I weighed 200lbs at 5'8...now I weigh 160.

However, I may end up gaining weight in this thing as I have been lifting a lot more.

*slaps head* Sorry I cant read, I didnt make the cut off obviously.

Your brain turns to mush when you've been running over zombies all night in Dead Rising. ;-)

6'6" 306 two weeks ago.

After starting work I am now 296. I think 245 is an attainable goal for myself, but I'd like to get back to 225-235 which was my basketball playing weight in college.
I'm down to 289 since my last post! I've lost 17 pounds in less than a month so far.
Awesome!! How are you going about this? I've got about 25 lbs. I could stand to lose but I just can't get into a routine. I lose 5-10 and then gain it back. Too bad they made ephedra illegal - that shit really works.

Congrats on the weight loss so far - it's one of the hardest things in the world to do.

I have a temp job while I am looking for a good job. I'm on my feet eight hours a day except for two 20 minute breaks. I work in the shipping department and move a lot through the warehouse. I am either scanning boxes into the computer system (and satcking them all day) or I am physically locating them in the warehouse via hand trucks. It's killing my knee, but the weight is coming off. My previous job I did have to move much at all. I actually wish I could be losing it in a less painful way, but I can't argue with the results right now.

Also, all that movement is killing my appetite but increasing my thirst. I drink so much water during work that I really don't want to eat much when I get home. I also, have gone to skim milk in the mornings. At first I hated it, but now I love it. I have cut most cheese out of my diet. I do try to have one day a week where I eat what I want though. That kills any daily cravings I might get.

Just bought a scale last nite so now i actually know what i weigh.
Whats the best time to weigh yourself, nekkid in the morning? I guess that way you are consistent and can notice results.

At 5'11 and 184 this morning, I think my goal is more along the lines of keeping the same weight, maybe a little less - but losing fat and trading it for some muscle.
