Time for me to hunt down some of those.
That's a coincidence that you say that since I just passed by Barnes & Noble today & I saw the trade for DC 1 Million in the comics section.

#1 is going to be VERY hard to find. Nobody had any faith in the book when it first came out (add in the $7 cover...), We had 10x as many copies of #3 come in as #1

I've lost track of the new Flaming Carrot. I think I left off at three... Gotta get on it.
I just read IC 6. That was jacked up.

I also bought nightwing a knight in bludhaven. It seems so gritty. and REAL.
YES!

Get all the rest of Chuck Dixon's run on Nightwing. I think there's another 2 trades that cover it. I know he went from 1 to 70 in the books.

Also get Nightwing: The Target. It's less of a Nightwing story and more of a Dick Grayson: Supercop story.

EDIT: Post #500!

I have to say, through Volume 1, I'm really enjoying New Avengers. I love Bendis' writing so far. Like Whedon, he's very good at injecting humor into the story, like some of the exchanges involving Spiderman and Spider-Woman. Definitely can't wait to read Volume 2 later tonight and order volume 3 later.

My local comic shop was sold out of Nightwing 119 this week, DAMN! Oh well I'll probably be able to pick it up elsewhere this weekend.

I picked up Battle for Bludhaven instead and I wasn't really impressed. Actually, most of the comics I picked up this week were less than fulfilling. ultimate Spider-man was kind of a let down with the plot twist, hopefully there's something else in store for the story. Ultimate Extinction didn't do much for me but I'm looking forward to where it might be going. Uncanny X-men was alright I suppose but it seemed like a lot of build up regarding the revelation of Psylocke's rebirth only to have it be a an overly simplistic explanation.
Yeah, Battle for Bludhaven did almost nothing for me except it explained a bit about Superman 151's last pages
I'd say of all the IC tie-ins its probably the worst so far. Its not just that I'm not interested in it (that was the case with Rann/Thanagar War) but it just feels amazingly underwhelming. I didn't care when the characters died nor when major plot points occurred. Not only that but the story was incredibly difficult to follow, maybe I read it too fast but I was really just bored by the end.

I have a habit of reading things too fast (SOOO many comics) too...but this one just felt like an Ultimate Spidey comic in length (short). I'll of course keep reading for bits of info, but thats mainly because I dont have to pay for it. Im sure as hell not suggesting it to people... Id rather put a Superman or even Aquaman comic in thier hands

I usually speed read comics as well but I only have about 5-8 on an average week.

Just read Ms. Marvel #1 & 2...and it was pretty good. It had a few small laughs, some tie ins with other Marvel stories without weighing down the story with them, and lots of pretty good art. I think I may pick it up for my GF.

How are the books that lead up to Infinite Crisis? ( such as Villians United, The OMAC..., etc.)

Also, I am slightly interested in the following, are they worth my time?

The Runaways
Green Lantern Rebirth (atleast getting the books caught up)
Superman/Batman (ditto)

And can I get some more recommendations, already made a mental note of Avengers Illuminati. And these are the books I have now or plan to get soon:

Inifinite Crisis
House of M
Astonishing Xmen
Marvel Zombies

Green Lantern Rebirth actually made me care about Green Lanters...which I never did before.

As for the pre IC mini's, Villians United and Day of Vengeance were great reads, Omac was important but just ok to read, and unfortunately Rann-Thanagar kinda suckd...but the Adam Strange series before it was awesome (excluding the end that flowed right into R-T)
I liked Villains United, for some reason I always like it when they take a bunk character and make him awesome (Catman in this case.)
Thats the one set I was most thinking about getting.

Alright, looks like I am going to hunt down what I am missing in quite a few sets. The Batman/Superman one will probably take me the longest to get ahold of, as I don't even know where I put the ones I bought last year.

Villians United always sounded interesting to me, then I realized it was part of the Pre- IC mini's. I may have to give OMAC a try as well, to try and understand more about it. The Rann-Thanagar didn't sound too interesting to me, so I was most likely to pass on it anyway.

Time to catch up on these and get some more books to read. Suggestions are always welcome.

So I picked up a few titles yesterday that I had missed or my local shop didn't have.

Nightwing 119 (I had to go to 3 stores to finally find it)- This is just a great story. I never found myself much of a nightwing fan but now I'm getting into this title bigtime.

Cable Deadpool 26/27- I normally get Cable/Deadpool but I recently stopped because it didn't feel like it was going anywhere. Wow did I stop at the wrong point though. This Apocolypse return prequel in these two issues was AWESOME. It gives backstory and cable and apocolypse and manages to be a pretty damn good (and seemingly long) story for just 2 issues. If you like Apocolyspe, even in the slightest, make sure you get this because it finally explains his origin beyond just the "he's 1000s of years old" that we normally hear.

Blue Beetle #1- I was hesitant at starting a new monthly title to pick up so I passed when it came out. I dunno, its an alright read but it did a lot of jumping around so it was difficult to follow. I think I'll pick up issue 2 and see how that is before I judge this new series as a whole.

If you want a better version of Blue Beetle, buy Invincible from image.

How many comic shops do you have in your area? I have exactly one, and I'm hoping it doesn't go out of business.

And is there any plans for a solo Deadpool title anytime soon? I remember hearing rumors about it awhile back, but I haven't heard anything since.

Well here's the thing. My town only has 1 comic shop (which is where I normally purchase at), however, I spend every weekend at my parent's place in the Minneapolis/st. paul area (I live about an hour outside of the twin cities) because its more convenient for work (I only work weekends). In the twin cities there's quite a few comic shops and one chain of newstand type stores that carry comics. A lot of times on weekends when my local shop is sold out of something I'll pick it up when I'm at my parent's place.

I'm not sure if we're making a new thread soon, but I have to say, after reading some of Runaways, I think I may have another title to start picking up. It's fairly interesting so far (I've read the first 8 issues).

ARGH!!!!! I have been out of the comic book loop for a really long time. I have been looking over some of the newer stuff coming out and its really well done..plus with this marvel civil war coming about it really seals the deal for me.

How should i go about getting back into comic books? Any series that i should look into inperticular? I really want to get into this marvel civil war..so i am going to need to find all the comics related to that.

Coming back to something is always so hard.

Civil war is just starting. Find one of the free copies of ther Civil War skeetchbook and it has a list of all the tie in comics, or just read "Civil War" as it comes out and forget the side books.

Start listening to our podcast on my website for one thing LOL! Seriously if you are trying to see what this Civil War thing is about, just check out what SpottedNigel suggested the freebie mag and see if its your cup of tea. To me right now DC is rocking my socks! Civil War doesn't seem like its going to be anything to me, but hey everyone has an opinion.

I realize I'm dragging up a thread that's been dead for 5 daays, and I'm commenting on something from weeks ago, but RvB, did you seriously like Nightwing 119? It was a steaming pile of sophomoric crap. None of the characters were in character. Jones is a hack. NW 119 ranks up with Blue Beetle as one of the worst books in the OYL lineup.

On a lighter note, who else can't wait for the YA/Runaways crossover? This will be glorious.
