Wow. Thirty minutes to a Gamestop store? I have about four of them within an easy 10 minute or so drive.
-For real, I live in Vermont and even I have 3 gamestops within a 10 minuet radius!!!

If I still lived in southern Illinois, it would be 20 minutes to the Marion, IL EB Games and 30 minutes to the Carbondale, IL Gamestop. If you lived in Mount Vernon, IL, you would have a choice of driving an hour to either Marion or Belleville/Richmond Heights, IL.
Not everyone hacks up their old IDs, so it could be stolen- or the info is out of date so you can use a different ID later and keep 'bad trade-ins' going.

Most places don't care if it's a few days, or even a few weeks, expired- but you will hit a point where no place that needs ID will take yours anymore becuase it's expired... sounds like you're getting to that point. Worry about your trade-in later, go get your ID renewed first before it really gets to be a hassle.
What does the expiration date have to do with being stolen? A current, non-expired ID could be stolen. IMO, they should really only need your name and ID number. None of the other information on the ID should matter.

Anyway, about Gamestop. I had a bad experience there today. They tried to sell me a "new" game with no original cover-art (generic GS cover-art), no manual, and a cracked, black case (it was a Wii game). I just walked away.

They tried doing that shit to me at one of my local stores (which I don't frequent for this reason). The employee swore up and down that it was new and unplayed, but that someone stole the case and manual. While I know it wasn't his fault and this was merely corporate policy, I let him have it (though he kind of deserved it for continuing to claim that it was new and asking if I wanted to buy it, while I was explaining how offensive it was to pass it off as new).

I have bought a few games for them but really I just do not understand how they love the screw over customers; also the video game industry is actually hurt by them because of used games. Although I do not mind a used game if it is in very good to excellent condtion.

I went to gamestop to take advantage of a deal, one of their trade 5 get extra 20 bucks back, it was almost over a year ago. Anyway the website had the deal posted going past the friday their ads usually start, through to the next sunday. Anyway I go there on saturday wanting to do it. The guy says they stopped doing that deal. I'm like, you sure? It's online posted for this long. He says he's sure, I rebuttal back with, well can't you check the website and see for yourself.

And the guy starts going off like I was the straw that broke the camels back. Anyway after nearly 10 min of back and forth, the manager comes out who knows me from being there so much, I clearly explain the situation to him. It took him a bit, looking through a whole bunch of binders and such but he found the code that let the deal go through. I thank him and tell the other guy to have a better day then he apparently had so far. Never saw that employee again really, lucky for me. It's what they get for not having all the code info on their computers back then, I think they've changed that since then though.
