The Critically Acclaimed Abraham Washington Wrestling Thread

KaneRobotron, what would be wrong with a Truth Commission thread? Don Callis is great. ;)

I watched the latest iMPACT!.

Two days ago, TNA took huge step in the right direction. The iMPACT! on April 19 showed good--if not solid--direction and well-booked matches.  They chose a streamlined delivery for stories and, for the first time in a long, damn time, the show felt well-paced.

My favorite parts of the show? No creepy Orlando Jordan and they actually promoted the show for next week. Forward booking in TNA?  I almost jizzed in my pants (jizzedinmypants, jizzedinmypants...).

I know to temper my excitement when dealing with TNA, but I tip my imaginary cowboy hat in respect to TNA for such a big and unexpected improvement.

Actually Orlando was on Impact for a short time during the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair match. He stood at the top of the ramp staring at Rob Terry like he wanted to fuck him in the middle of the ring.

Orlando Jordan was shown during the Team Flair/Team Hogan match.

ROH's awesome 40% sale, that resulted in me getting the new TNA 3-pack for like $10, has been extended until Friday morning due to their site crashing. I had my second order (the one with the TNA 3-pack) in limbo until yesterday due to an issue on their side, and they made good on it by sending stuff out overnight resulting in me getting my order today. That was a very pleasant surprise.

Well it would certainly be easy to fit Joey Mercury into Punk's stable now. Pic from his dark match at the SD tapings.

He's back? I thought his eye fell out of his skull or something.
Saw it on another forum, regarding Truth's appearance on NXT.

"He no sold death. Take that Cena."

EDIT: Looks like the joke is on Wikipedia, too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Killings#Return_to_WWE_.282008.E2.80.93present.29
:( must have missed it.

I always thought Cade and Mercury would become SES members. It sucks they endeavored Cade, but Joey Mercury totally needs to be in SES as long as its not a build to putting Morrison over Punk once Rey takes a break.

he had the injury a few years back at a ppv where he caught a ladder to the face which was sick.

Yup, that's what I was referring to.

"On April 19, 2010 Ron Killings was kayfabe killed in an explosion on Monday Night Raw.

On April 20th, 2010 Ron Killings no sold death and made his triumphant return on NXT."

It's certainly not the first time someone edited something like this on Wiki. For the longest time, Randy Orton was under the list of "Apex Predators."
Yup, that's what I was referring to.
Actually, it wasn't the injury. It was the fact he got hooked on painkillers again after the injury.

I guess he cleaned up his act.

That actually made me laugh a bit.

That's great:lol::D:applause: I've heard of these wiki edits, but I've never personally come across any in my internet searches. I like that Randy Orton one.

The Randy Orton DVD set is coming within the next year or so. Kinda makes you wonder how they're going to handle his first title win over He Who Must Not Be Named.

Should be interesting, yeah. I had always assumed that's why we didn't already have a DVD. There's a ton of things that are easy to edit out... someone's first title win? Not so much.

I don't know how it'll be handled, but a lot will also be based on how the DVD is. Will it be a 'long documentary w/ supplemental discs of matches' or the 'short segment, match, short segment, match' type... that's going to change things.

Still, bottom line is that they didn't edit Benoit out of the Summerslam set, right? Maybe there's some hope.
Still, bottom line is that they didn't edit Benoit out of the Summerslam set, right? Maybe there's some hope.
False equivalency. With PPVs, those events happened and WWE can produce those discs without much fear of backlash - they're not retroactively putting him on the card, after all.

I seem to remember Orton getting the title push so they could take away Brock Lesnar's "youngest WWE Champ" mantle. They may try to frame it that way, focusing on Lesnar turning his back on WWE, and pulling the trigger on Orton, then quickly moving along to the feud b/w Triple H and Orton.

Benoit won't be handled much.

To clear this up... myke, that's exactly what I expect to happen. A quick glossing over of it with the focus on the win, not Benoit.

There's no way that the match itself will be on the disc, but I figured that the Summerslam non-edits would at least open the door to even one line of 'Orton defeated Chris Benoit at SS04 to become... etc'. One throwaway line is better than him beating nameless guy. Plus, wasn't Benoit even on the packaging (a namecheck or something) of the SS set, or am I totally insane?

So, yeah, I'm not trying to say that we'll get the match, or even a retrospective... really more just saying that there's hope of mention that Orton beat an actual person, not, uh, nobody.

I think we actually about 99% agree here, I might've just stated it poorly.

Sad thing is, FCW's arena is about 30 minutes from me, yet I'd still rather drive to Orlando which is a hour and a half away to watch TNA....oh and to ride the rides as well :D

Did you play Smackdown 2010? They had the Red and Green dummies in the game to wrestle. WWE is working on the Summerslam 2004 match to replace he who should not be named with the Red Dummy.

I think it's obvious what they are going to do. Refilm the entire match, but with Kane instead. It makes the most sense!

WWE has released Jimmy Yang, Funaki, Mickie James, Shelton, and Ray Gordy. Shelton and Mickie are surprises, especially Shelton, but Mickie less so given their burial of her over the past year.

WWE and Vince can go fuck themselves over the lack of Respect/Push Shelton got. Guy deserved 100 times better. Guy got stuck with Thea 6 years ago after they tried pushing him the first time. Bullshit.

Katie Lee Burchill was released too. Why is the Great Khali still on the roster?

WHY OH WHY WOULD THEY RELEASE SHELTON BENJAMIN? WHAT THE fuck IS WRONG WITH VINCE?

Come to think of it, why would they release Mickie James, too? All of a sudden like that. She's been in the spotlight lately. Then again, they did almost the same thing with Maria.

Unlike Carlito, however, Shelton has had offers for pushes and turned them down (which is why he's never won a MITB match, but almost always ends up stealing the show). He's great, but unmotivated.

Khali is still on the roster because he's a draw (say what you will, but the Punjabi Playboy angle was crazy over with the fans), and he can put people over when needed (see: Dolph Ziggler).
Funaki got dropped?

Maybe WWE is serious about stopping drug use among wrestlers for a change.

Not really a TNA spoiler, but under a tag just in case.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that TNA has informed Homicide that he and Hernandez will reform the LAX tag team when Hernandez returns to TNA from Mexico. It should be noted though that Homicide is reportedly skeptical of TNA's plans as both Homicide and Hernandez were against the idea to split the tag team in the first place.

For those unaware, Hernandez is currently working down in Mexico, and he is expected to return to TNA TV in 2 months.

This is just heartbreaking...
The Pro Wrestling Syndicate is reporting that TNA star "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero is currently sidelined with torn ligaments in his shoulder. There is no word at this time concerning how long he will be out of action.

Okay, you can now reunite TWGTT in TNA. vs. Beer Money? Yes please. fuck it, reunite LAX (Homicide ain't doin' shit anyway) and go against them.

Followup question to the WWE releases: who do you let go from TNA to make room for these guys? My #1 picks? Amazing Red and Lacey Von Erich.

Oooooh, good choice. I'd be okay with getting rid of Rhino too. I like the guy, but I have to be frank: I would watch TNA for 9 months before wondering why he wasn't on the air at all.
