The Dark Knight: Heath Ledger to Play The Joker?!
If we're going by appearances only, I'd hafta say Vince Cassel is the man to be joker.

http://www.sneakpeektv.com/id300.html
Monica Bellucci as Harley Quinn? As much as I want to see Monica Bellucci in a skin tight outfit she would be horribly miscasted for that role. She would have made for an amazing Poison Ivy, though.

Nah, she would've made a better Huntress - she's italian, curvy, & raven-haired.

Uh, I hope Cheapy isn't planning a tip to Iraq anytime soon...

I think they just use primarily unknowns for casting. Cast a bunch of stars and you end up with Batman & Robin.

I have no idea who that is. But after a quick google search I totally agree that she has the look. The only thing is maybe because she's never had an action role (that I know of) that I can't picture her in one.

She works Gotham same as Batman though he doesn't approve of her since she would prefer to kill. Depending on which timeline you're looking at, she's also Batman & Catwoman's daughter.
What about Guy Pearce? He is a great actor, looks kinda creepy, and has worked well with Nolan before.
I think I read somewhere that Nolan wanted Pearce to be Harvey Dent.

There. :applause: I can totally see Guy Pearce as Two-Face. He's pretty enough to show his handsome side but w/ his display in Monte Cristo says he can pull off shady bastich easily.

Oh man am I going to get flamed for this one... But one person I kinda think could pull it off well with Nolan at the helm is...... Matthew Lillard.

I think they had the perfect Joker and wasted him as the Riddler.

Jim Carrey would be perfect. Think about the Riddler in Batman Forever... that wasn't the Riddler... it was really the Joker!

And Kevin Spacey should be Riddler if that question ever comes up. Hands down.

I think Carrey could pull off a great Joker, but I doubt they're going to use any actors attached to the previous series of films at all.

The guy that played shaggy from scooby would be great I trust that the batman movie will be great but this news worrys me a lil I havent seen heath ledger do anything actingwise that would support that he could handle this role...what if the entire movie is great exept he ruins it? I just dunno.

Not to mention he seems to young he coudlnt match up to christian bale at all.

Again, Matthew Lillard as previously mentioned in this topic.

Please no. God no.
You'd prefer Mark Hamill?
I'd prefer Heath Ledger or Mark Hamill. Hell, I'd prefer ANYONE- male or female- to be the Joker as long as they had more acting talent than Matthew Lillard (which would be anything greater than zero talent).

Oh I'd still like Paul Bettany. I think Lillard has more talent than has been shown. He's just been in shitty movies with shitty directors and scripts. However I could be way off base, nobody really knows I suppose.

The thing is, If you're going by most of the "canon" of the comics or even the Animated Series. Joker is a bit older than Bruce so someone who's somewhat older isn't a big problem as his age doesn't need to match Bale's. Otherwise I'd kinda like to see Christopher Walken at least screen test for it.

EDIT: Crap.... Totally forgot he was in Batman Returns

Johny Depp and Johny Depp only should play Joker. I mean cmon' the mother fucker is Jack Sparrow.

Johny Depp + Creapy Role = Awesome.

I never really saw Heath Ledger as Joker material, but if he really does have the part I'd like to have faith that he can pull it off. Personally, I would have liked to see Christopher Eccleston in the part, but I can kinda see Ledger doing it. Just because he hasn't done anything similar before doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't have what it takes to play the part.

I think it works except heath may be too big of a guy. And for those he say he can't show emotion check out his role in monsters ball I thought he was quite good in that and showed some geuine grief/angst

He's a good actor... I don't see why he couldn't pull it off.

The Joker is all character, and his appearance is certainly important... but that can be compensated for with makeup and movie magic.

Any time a "pretty boy" in Hollywood plays something different, outside of what people pigeonhole them in, the reaction is always the same: lol wut~ st00pid Then again, I hate peoples' opinions on film.

However, I was hoping the role would be passed over to Crispin Hellion Glover, for a darker Joker adaptation.

Jack Nicholson is one of the greatest living American actors... but I didn't like his and Burton's adaptation of The Joker. Too campy, too gangstery -- all in the wrong areas.

(Crispin Glover is an amazing talent, by the way. I wish more people would use him in roles. Go see "Willard".)

So we're going to have an ambigiously gay Joker?
