HBK just said he could very well win the belt via submission... hmm... sharpshooter victory. Yowza.

You know, the funny thing about the pole stip is that Bill Watts used that stip a ton, and yet did so in a logical manner AND drew a great deal of money with it (including selling out shows with Barry Darsow vs. Duggan in a coal miner's glove match). It's amazing what a great booker can sell people on. Then there was this match
Ted Dibiase vs. Jim Duggan (No Dq, cage match in tuxedos, loser leaves town, coal miners glove on a poll) (3/22/85)
- another big Mid-South money-drawing match.
Oh, bollocks. Not this again.

It's called a fucking flat iron.
Yeah, I know. She just appears lighter to me as well.

I'm pretty sure they didn't just beat us over the head that Jericho is coming back next monday or anything... They did everything but put him on the screen saying "I'm back bitches!" And you know the saddest thing? I honestly basically forgot it was happening. Its been so long, they had better use him on something good.

Oh well, off to watch HHH vs. Umaga XLVIII.
It's been so long? They've only been running these videos for two (maybe three, tops) months - that's hardly a long time.
Hell yeah, it's long.

Even longer, since they've been wildly deceitful.

No, they've been smart - they've drawn it out for just the right amount of time, and if all goes well, Jericho will return on Raw to a massive pop. I'd have more faith in that pop if it wasn't for even something like DX's return getting a tepid reaction, but fans still seem to be into Jericho's return, which is a great sign for next week's Raw.

Let the specualtion begin. "OMG FAKE??!?!!?"

By the way... since I see people still talking about how long they're dragging it out... remember that you KNOW what it's all about. You know the promos are Jericho, so the mystery isn't there.

For the people that don't know, they're still excited. I was talking to a guy at work last night who knows nothing about the IWC, which was sort of refreshing, and he mentioned that he was still excited to find out what the promos were for.

I still maintain that reading wrestling news destroys roughly 50% of the enjoyment. Might just be me, though. I can't help but feel think when I'm watching 'man, that would've been great if I hadn't already known about it'. ;)

Really...at this point even trailer park dad with infant wearing soiled 15-year-old Hulk Hogan diaper cover knows it's Jericho. If they didn't figure it out from the promos, they figured it out by the crowd screaming "Y2J" at every event over the last 5 weeks.

Exactly. If you've watched WWE/WWF at all in the last 5 years, you knew it was Jericho after promo video number 3. It wasn't exactly a case for Columbo.

look whether or not we all know its jericho, everyone on this forum is going to mark the fuck out next monday. just like we all figured (for the most part) that it was going to be booker t on sunday at genesis, but still flipped the hell out when we found out.so yes its been obivous, but im still insanely excited about it, ya digs?

on the subject of booker t, he seriously hasnt looked THAT exicted in a very...very...very long time. glad to see he at least appears to be happy now.

I had thought, too, but you'd be surprised.

I sat and listened to a 4 people talk about who it could be, and not ONCE was Jericho mentioned. Then again, they also thought ECW was actually a seperate federation, so hey.

All I'm saying, for a lot of people, is that you're giving them too much credit.

I agree. It would probably be way more exciting if I didn't know things were coming, but then again this way I don't have to sit through a bunch of crap if I know thats coming too.
I really dig Beth Phoenix's theme music. It's just so original in this day and age. It also lets you know someone important is coming down the aisle.
Agreed, I'm loving her music. It has a real classic 80's wrestling sound to it. Very similar vibe to the Jake Roberts and Jimmy Snuka themes IMO. It also sounds like the music from "Epic Pinball" for PC, from way back.

Heh, it's kinda funny. That women's match represented both the best and worst in wrestling theme music, as far as I'm concerned.

Maria's music isn't bad, bad (it ain't "Real Man's Man" after all), but it's stock nondescript pop punk.

Way to blow Jericho's return, WWE. We all knew it was Jericho, but lawd a'mighty, your right hand should talk to the left one more often.

I'm more surprised that someone subscribes to the WWE magazine.

regarding that jericho magazine, maybe they printed it early because jericho was supposed to debut last month but they delayed it..

is this magazine out in the wild? if so then wwe REALLY dropped the ball
New tag event

Just announced: The Hardys do battle with MVP & Mr. Kennedy, live tonight on ECW on Sci Fi.

Seriously.. they are just dumping people on ecw from raw and sd
Watching last night, it felt like they merged the rosters. Guess it's going to feel like that this whole week.

It's supposedly the January 08 issue. So I'm guessing he comes back next week & the issue comes out a week or so later.

Question is who will he feud with? There's 3 possible ones I see.

1) Orton- HBK loses sunday & has his last shot. Orton asks monday for a new challenger & out comes Y2J.

2) HBK- After losing sunday, needs a new feud. This is the only feud where Jericho would be the heel.

3) Santino- Desparately needs a new opponent. Comes out next week complaining, Jericho comes out after minutes to tell him to "please shut the hell up". Feud continues with Y2J making Santino his bitch.

I hate when WWE blows a good surprise. Even if said "surprise" is totally expected by the Internet crowd. In the era of the IWC, they need to relish every chance they get to genuinely surprise people.

The worst was when they had a promo for Goldberg's debut during Wrestlemania 19. Couldn't they have just waited ONE more night and shocked the hell out of the casual fans? I'm sure they did that for the short-term ratings boost, and it probably worked. But it would help ratings more in the long run if they created the impression that ANYTHING could happen... and you only really get that if you let a few rating points slip through the cracks and allow a genuine SURPRISE, without any hype. The people who miss it will be pissed, and thus more likely to tune in next time!

Until the ratings come in for Jericho's return, it's impossible to say that they've "blown it" just yet. As for the roster split being reduced, I have no problem with it. It's leading to the possibility of three MVP and Finlay matches per week, which is a very good thing.
so who else thinks tna did a much better job with their "surprise guy" than wwe did?
Yep.
What if they played Jericho's theme and Edge came out saying "Who the fuck did you expect?"

Now THAT would be something.
It would make sense, since - character-wise - Edge is a bootleg Jericho.

I'm not saying they're similar, but you can tell Edge apes the shit out of Jericho.

That would be an incredible swerve, but it doesn't make much since since Edge is plastered all over the Survivor series promos. Speaking of which, why has Edge been out? I don't even remember.

Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to ECW tonight, featuring no ECW wrestlers in action. haha

Injury.

... I can't remember what it was, though. I want to say it was something with his bicep.

How can TNA have done a better job with their mystery when WWE's hasn't even concluded yet? TNA did a great job of showing that Hall can still draw ratings in 2007, unfortunately, he had nothing to do with the PPV, and angered some fans who bought the show expecting to see Hall since Nash said on TV that Hall would be the partner. Since TNA didn't advertise him as the guy, and he didn't fit the profile Sting had set up on Impact (and what was said in ads), I find that to be odd.

New 2nd coming video - 5 days, 23 hours, 30 seconds. I wouldn't mind seeing Jericho come back to have a verbal showdown with Edge, although I wouldn't have either man's first matches back be against each other since Jericho hasn't wrestled in two years, and Edge is coming back from his latest serious injury and should just be put in a 'safe' match for his return.
About time! Next Monday is going to be excellent.
Yup. WWE's hype is clearly still working.

ECW's been a damn fine show so far. Way better than Raw. Great opener, sick ending that had me very worried, and now we've got Punk-Noble on ECW, which has been good so far, but both Miz or Morrison are at ringside, so I doubt we'll see a clean finish. If we get one, I hope it involves Noble pinning Punk, then getting added to the ECW title match.

I skipped a lot of Raw. I've been "under the weather" so to speak the past week, and spent a lot of time watching my WWE dvd collection. You really realize how bad things are now when you go and review tapes like WM7 and WM8, the Ric Flair dvd set and the UT set.

Don't get me wrong I think the Hardyz, Rey, Mr. Kennedy, and MVP are doing some really special things out there and show promise for the future, but they just can't compare to matches like Bret Hart & Roddy Piper, Savage & Flair, and Sid Justice giving Hogan the shock of his life by kicking out of the planned finish all on the same card! I didn't recall how quickly Hogan back peddled to get as far away from Sid as possible! Hilarious, just hilarious.

I missed some of Raw due to car troubles (damn horn wouldn't stop honking), but what I saw was largely boring, except for the six-man tag. The Coach-as-Khali thing was just boring as all Hell. I love a lot of what's going on in wrestling right now, as every major company (and many minor ones) have great stuff going on. ...like Morrison calling himself a "kung-fu Jesus". Excellent ECW show from start to finish, with two really good matches, and some incredibly funny banter between Miz and Morrison on commentary.

Morrison - Look at me - imagine if Jesus could kung-fu!

My friend and I were *trying* to watch the show, but the only match we watched almost in full was the Hardyz & Rey vs Finlay, MVP & Kennedy. Instead we were playing the classic SNES game Gemfire and flipping back to wrestling every now and then just in case something interesting happened.

OH, we did make sure to watch the entire Santino segment and most of his match with Lawler. Pity Santino never comes out on top in any of his encounters.
