How many copies of a game can I trade in?
​You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.
 
What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)
 
FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.
 
Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.
 
I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).
 
 
TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Item has to be in-stock. Pre-orders are not "in-stock" in this case. This is the reason I would be hesitant to say it won't work, but who knows. Their website is trash.

 
Bought Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS4 when it was DotD and it was the last copy at my home store. I hadn't checked the condition of it until a little while ago. It has the telltale signs of being "factory refurbished." Swirl marks on the back from whatever liquid they use and scratches in the disc art. Back I go tomorrow to return it.

In other news, it looks like they got rid of management at every store in town. Both of the stores I went to today have "Now Hiring Management" signs posted on the door. At my home store one employee normally works at the Coronado Center store and the other normally works at the Cottonwood Mall store. I didn't bother asking which store(s) the employees at my secondary store normally work at.
 
I did two B2G1 online orders on July 1st -- one arrived today.

I received 3 Switch games, of which only one came in the original case.  There is no packing slip.

If I opt to do the online return process, how does handle them now for things like B2G1?  Do they pro-rate returns?  Do they require all three items?  I don't want to keep all three, but I'd like SOME sort of discount.

I hit the "start return" link in the website, and it LOOKS like it's treating a single item as a "full price" return -- which can't be right.

Packing slip is likely behind the label on the package.

Otherwise, call CS and they will get you a return label emailed to you.

Why do you wanna return? Is it because they didn't come in the OG cases?

Pretty much. I bought most of the order for gifts later this year -- it's unlikely first party titles will drop below the effective $40 per game I paid. Without the original cases, they aren't quite as nice as gifts...

That's a crappy excuse to be honest. You got a 50% chance of getting the case. Why not shop around and see if the stores have any spare cases or pre-owned games with the OG Case, they can swap out for you.

Lol, you can't fault someone for wanting to return gamestonk garbage. Game will have like half the value without the original case. Stores don't have anything good in stock anyway.

I mean buying something expecting it to be IOB isn't something you should be expecting from GS. Like I said, I purchased plenty of games last gen from GS, and went in expecting no cases. I once ordered 10 games, and 4 games outta 10 came with the original box.

Really interested in two games I found on sale but don’t wanna deal with no og cases again. Ughh GameStop wish it was like getting games from gamefly

If you walk into most stores, they will most likely swap your generic case with a real one if you ask nicely. I've had no issue with doing that the few times I've done that. Call beforehand if you want to make sure you don't waste a trip.

Speaking of gifts - the GS website is now stocking Lego Mario kits - not bad if you have credit to burn and/or they qualify for the semi-common 10-25% off collectible/toy sales. ;)

Unless you were using credit, I wouldn’t say $40 is a great price for the games. We’re seeing them for $45 new with greater frequency. Heck Paper Mario and Pikmin 3 were $30 not too long ago at Target and those hadn’t been out for a year. We will definitely see a bunch of 1st party switch titles for $30 around Black Friday if you can wait.

 
Awesome when they use paper cd sleeves that don’t seal for a DS game and you have to dig through the packing paper and look under the box flaps to find the cart that got loose, kind of a fun little game of hide and seek in itself.

How low do yall ever see Astral Chain or Links Awakening going? Trying to decide if the current costs w/ 30% for buying a new game is worth it yet.

GameStop had some door buster games for $26.99 and Walmart had some games for $30

Some examples were new super Mario bros, Splatoon 2, Mario tennis, fire emblem, yoshi for GameStop and Luigi's mansion and links awakening at Walmart.

I stand corrected, probably don't really remember since those are games that weren't on my radar. I can see them putting Mario party at $30 this year since a new one is coming out. Would be really surprised to see smash bros go for $30

Astral chain has been holding steady so unless you get lucky with the walmart clearance you won't find a cheap copy and that game has been drying up by this point I'd imagine.

Does anyone have a link to where I can do an online return to gamestop?  When I go to "help center" now it just takes me to a FAQ page.  They sent me the totally wrong game for one of my orders.  I usually can do the return online but i cant find it anymore.  Thanks in advance.

Nevermind I found it. You have to go through a link in the delivery email. Doesnt seem like you can get to it from gamestop.com

The B2G1 sale was the best option recently, I'm not sure where you are located but I picked up a copy of it along with two other sets of games at the Germantown Commons store and it was in really good condition except for a few fingerprints. You can also go on eBay. I don't think anywhere else sells used games. Maybe Amazon, but that's it.

so is the buy any new game over $30 get a game for 20% no longer in stores? It worked a couple of weeks ago last time i bought some. I bought 2 copies of monster hunter but nothing happened

Sadly, I think a CAG confirmed last month that promo no longer works in-store. It still works online.

 
I thought it still did work but was super difficult to find games that works with it and that they changed it to only pre-owned under a certain amount making it useless.
