Current Trade in Promos:

GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

All the interactions with a store, whether positive or negative, do actually make up the brand but we don't have to get into that. Hope you get on somewhere better before the full conversion from store front to distributed fulfillment completes and they shutter half the remaining stores or more.

They'll be bankrupt before that happens.  It's heading there faster than ever.

Have a few years left at least to spend those :p

Just trying to give info that's all, not defending stores/the company being shit about a bunch of things, that is what it is.

izembo said the store gets some sort of negative "ding" or whatever if they dont fulfill the order

so they fulfill it and let the refund people deal with it
100% that is correct. And that's part of the problem, there's no accountability at the store level for improperly filling an order either. It's viewed as better to fill every order by their bosses, regardless if it's correct.
That explains the problems I've had recently. CS was no help either and said contact USPS or your credit card company. Not sure how USPS would ever be of any help (especially when the employee didn't fill the order correctly... )

I would 100% never buy anything off gamestop.com ever.  I don't care how good the "deal" appears.  Their entire back-end is still from the late 90s and current team expects it to perform like it's Amazon.  It's not and never will be.  Nobody in leadership has ever invested in actually improving things the company needs, just short term patches to maximize profits and look like they're doing something.

/end rant.

My B3G2 used games order arrived today.

5 Xbox games:

5 of 5 with original cases and insert art.
4 of 5 with the paper nonsense that came with the games originally in those cases.
Of those 4, 3 games came with DLC codes
2 of 3 codes actually worked, including the preorder dlc for RDR2.

Nice.

can't,  it'll just mark down the most expensive item $10, if it becomes one of the 2 cheapest, it'll be a free one then, thus wasting the coupon.

While technically true, he can buy something that's $10 more expensive than the other 2 and the coupon won't be wasted.

Does anybody know if I can redeem 10000 points to get $10 off during b3g2 or because it's 2 free games it can't take effect
Worked on B2G1 a few weeks ago, and worked a few days ago with a $5. Took off from total amount.

correct, that's why i said if it makes it one of the 2 cheapest. if you have cheap items it'll work, but that defeats most of the purpose of saving on the deal considering all the items are already fairly low anyways with the deal since its only games $19.99 and under to begin with there isnt as much margin for picking other games unless you have 19.99 games and 2 of your games are less than 9.99.

That’s the sign of a poorly run company. When their policies actually are counter to making customers happy.

Of course, it’s entirely possible corporate has weighed the risk and said fuck it, most people won’t care.

Right, but that's against their policy, twofold.  they aren't supposed to stack price match with any promotions, and no stacking price match with coupons either.  so not everyone is going to get a store that will do that.

the coupon will stack on it's own with the b3g2 deal though yes, as long as the 2 cheapest items have to be $10 or more cheaper than the most expensive item in the deal.

Picked up my new game at Gamestop and he hands me a game without any shrink wrap. I told him I bought it new and he said that was the last one so I asked if I can go to a different Gamestop and if not, I will just get a refund so he checks and finds a sealed one and gives me that instead and says he doesn't know why they put aside a used game. Just a little info if you buy a new game online for instore pick up and get a used game you might be able to actually get a new game.

Regarding the coupon for renewing por, do you get 10k points per renewal or is it just for the first one? Thanks in advance.

I'm late to the +10 party - doesn't seem like too many games qualify that would be at or better than historical promo values. Seeing a lot of $8 base in my fodder. Anyone do a big trade stack got a list?

I never traded in games before, i have like 15 games i want to trade in (all old, no new releases)

Is now a good time? Or should i wait for some kind of bonus? Or is there a bonus going on now?

I have to wonder how much longer GS can keep going, even with the extra cash it built up as a meme stock. Heard Pat and Ian talk about GS on the CU podcast and that the company is bleeding about $100 million a quarter. That during the time of a new generation can't be good. Hope GS can find a way to thrive, but not sure what it's evolution has to be for an industry that seems hellbent on making as much of its products digital as possible, and as fast as possible.

I'd say get the Pro Membership for $10 now while you can if you don't have it and wait a little bit longer for the 50% extra on games. They had a 50% extra end fairly recently so it could be a little while until they have it again.

That's the big question, isn't it? I can recall as far back as the 360/PS3 era people anticipating the death of physical media and wondering how GameStop was going to survive. They bought Think Geek and it looked like they were trying to move into selling tchotchkes and whatnot, but that didn't seem to work out. So who knows? Seems there are lots of companies that keep going and no one knows how. I guess they are one of them? lol

They aren't.  3-5 years tops at this point, which is unfortunate if you are someone who likes the company.  Current leadership is running it into the ground faster than ever though because they don't understand how brick and mortar operates and keep trying things that failed 10+ years ago but they have no experience knowing those things don't work.

Ok so… has it been confirmed which games get the +$10?

I picked up cookstar last night for $20 and read awful reviews when I got home. Want to try it since it’s a profit with $+10. Or at least break even.

Gamestop will be around longer than that. The have very little debt compare to the cash they have on hand.
Except they're spending hundreds of millions buying product that has been proven doesn't sell in their stores. They're going to eat big losses. Look at their cash losses quarterly. All that excess cash is gone in 3 years easily. The other 2 are them scraping by while massively cutting store count. They don't function as an online retailer so that won't save them. It's 3-5 years and dead at the current pace, cash on hand means nothing but a few years lifeline.

Well that’s their big brain idea: move to online. That’s why they hired the chewy guy. Now I’m skeptical because I haven’t seen how their online selling is getting any better. And it seems like he’s just another empty suit.

I’m in the stock as a pure meme stock. The company is awfully run. But stockholders might get lucky with a moass.

You can't run a business selling used games and consoles online without storefronts to acquire used products as trade-ins.

Losing the brick and mortar locations forces shipping used products for trade-in, which will discourage a lot of trades from happening.

Many of us might gamble with online trade in, but you'd lose all the parents who want the convenience of just dumping their kids crap at the store to buy them new crap. I've been in store on multiple occasions where some parent is just trading in their kids old stuff with no concept of what anything is worth and clearly doesn't care.

Anyway, can't sell used stuff online without a supply of used stuff. Seems obvious to me.

I ordered a Halo Infinite statue on Saturday and received it yesterday. I’m still waiting for my Black Friday orders. Crazy right? Ah.. GameStop. Even me calling 2 times I haven’t received my orders.

Is that possible? I used a $25 cert to get it in store on BF as well
Normally, you can do a return rebuy as long as you're within the window. If their system has improved since the last time I did this, maybe they can issue a partial refund now.

I don't know how it works with cert payment though.
