Liar. What the fuck, are you like 12? You're a troll, fuck off and go back to WoW already.

I had my fears but the Priory, from the very first mission, is turning out to be awesome. Hooked me right away. Don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but if you were thinking it'd be going through libraries and such like I was, you'd be wrong!

Think Indiana Jones ruin exploring and looking for a legendary weapon rather than books and finding a hidden text that reveals a weakness.

Also their base is built into the side of the Shiverpeaks:

WvW is finally working and elle oh elle:

Is it too early to tell or is that lopsided? I mean, just from looking at that we're dominating so far.
When in a party, both of you go to the same zone, and right-click their portrait. There should be an option to "Join in *Name of Zone*". The name of zone part is new, so you might be able to do it from other zones now, but I haven't tried it.
Thank you. Will that make it so our home server is the same too?
Thank you. Will that make it so our home server is the same too?
No, so be sure to roll characters on the same server. In the event that you don't, World transfers are free right now, so you should be able to go into the Black Lion Trading Company and "buy" a transfer for zero gems.

Mind you, the only reason you "need" to be on the same server is if you plan to do WvW together.
ahaah holy shit you got ferguson's crossing in your wvw group

thats not even fair
Ha, are they just low pop or a bunch of droolers? We're now 240k points for this round but steadily losing a few camps/towers. Been doing PvP all day out there and there's some REALLY bad players lol. Did a 1v4 while they were trying to kill a sentry and killed them all. Obviously they thought the sentry was a bigger threat because none of them stopped to attack me until they were almost dead. Wish I got a screen but they all rage rezzed right away. Other than that, I'm still looking for somebody that can beat me in a 1v1. Nobody dodges or uses CC at all and they always run when they get low. As if you're going to outrun a thief rofl.

Oh yeah, can they read /say from you? I hate that you can't even see their names lol. Want to shit talk them but they never respond. :\

Lol where the hell do you enter your cd key? Litteraly no one knows, some say use the same link you did your beta code, some say enter it at Gem store..... course developer is keeping quiet, and ignoring on twitter on where to enter cd key.
End game PvP, how is it?

I do value your opinion Jodou.
Honestly, it's the culmination of what other games have hinted at but didn't quite get right. Imagine Alterac Valley from WoW (with a much grander scale) but with the siege system of Warhammer if you've ever played those games. Sieges are actually fun and the only downside is you might have to wait in a queue to get into the WvW zone (server pop pending obviously). I don't do battlegrounds or arenas, so I won't be able to give you an opinion on those but WvW is probably something I'd come back to for a couple hours here and there at 80.

It's well-done and there's plenty to do no matter what is going on. You can prep defenses by building stuff, escort supplies to nodes, kill sentries to take supply nodes, and obviously defend or assault wherever the action is. It is rather epic so I give them props for getting a system like this right. Personally I enjoy just ambushing people on the road if I can find them solo. The sieges can get a little too zergy for my tastes at times.

So does everything in WvW reset every two weeks, including the realm bonuses? I think it would be interesting if you kept them until your realm lost in WvW, just stacking the bonuses higher and higher.

I think the thing about Ferguson's Crossing, where I am located as well, is that they don't have many guilds on the server. We were sitting at under 20 on GW2Guilds.com prior to launch but most of the others were at 50-150 guilds.

So....unorganized in WvW doesn't spell victory...

I'm more of an arena style PvP, and the lack of a main healer is off putting for me.

Gotta say that the game looks beautiful.

Things I dislike about this game.

The 2.5 gb download you get when you do a fresh disc install on launch day. Also the arena net client has no you have x mb left to download.

I haven't even got a chance to play it yet, I had to let it run overnight to finish the updates and now it's updating again.

Can't wait to jump right in.

Great can't fucking login.

Took awhile to find out too. You have to re-register with the retail key (from standard or CE). Make sure you chose the option that says you already have a Guild Wars account and use the same email you used before.

PS - when you re-register with the new serial, you will get a new 4 digit number after your id, but everything stays the same like friends list/characters/etc.

Game is registered now. Although every time I go to launch it it says I need to validate my e-mail yet when I try to click the validation link in the e-mail, it fails .

Game is fun, except for the 8,000,000 people in the starting area. I will give it a day or two in hopes it dies down.

Have I mentioned how jealous I am of all of you? I bought a new PSU because my computer kept crashing and that didn't fix it. My fans (sounds like GPU fan but could be CPU) get really loud while trying to play a game and BAM, PC shuts down...

Really wish I had the money to throw at it but alas, I don't.

Pushing for 80 tonight so I can go stomp in WvW. So glad this grind is almost over because I'm starting to lose my mind mashing 3, 2, 2, 2.

Yeh, lots of people have that issue. Just hit play.

Endgame is when the game starts for me, always has. I would PvP to 80 except it's not efficient leveling sadly, especially when we own 100% of the objectives as of this morning (not even joking). And sadly the reason I'm grinding hard is because gear makes an obvious difference. I've almost got enough karma now to buy a dagger right off the bat from the T3 vendor and I plan to stick it in a ton of player's backs.

decided to try to run for the ruins of orr yesterday to try to recapture the fun of doing droks runs. made it to the straights of devastation and about 30 silver later determined that anet has pretty much all their bases covered there. i don't think its possible to make it farther, solo, as an engineer. too many ranged guys and not enough skills to survive.

however, i did get a ton of higher level crafting stuff from the karma vendors and an ass load of exp from hitting the high level waypoints.

Had some lag issues earlier, and honestly this is the first time I've ever had lag issues in the game. Not looking forward to the weekend playing this as everyone and their mom will be on being the first weekend where everyone has the game. It's probably going to be rough times.

Only level 33, having too much fun just prancing around and 100% each area. Granted for all the hours me and my wife put in I think we are only at 18%.

Bunch of people got banned from a karma weapon exploit. I think it was some expensive weapons for really cheap karma that you could then sell to merchants for LOADS E MONE.

Anet then said that they'd change it to a 3 day ban if those banned sent an appeal and promised to delete any items/wealth gained though the process.

Interesting. I don't like the feel of it. I personally feel like if you discovered something like that to make money, good on you. I fear they are going to take the same approach as ToR where people got banned for "exploiting" by running through higher level areas than their character for chests. With that sort of precedent you could get banned for finding a bit of terrain you can jump on to bypass some enemies or find an alternative way to get to a point of interest and thats just stupid. Finding ways to do that are all part of the fun of exploring.

It rubs me in a very wrong way. Especially since runners and chest running were a huge part of what made Guild Wars so fun.

Asked them on facebook if they were planning some sort of confidence boosting message after they dropped this bomb of negativity on the community...

I posted a follow up as well citing running like the run to Droknar's Forge from Guild Wars 1 since that could be seen as an exploit. No response yet.

That zone fucking SUCKED. Seriously, if you can make it to the 80 zone is some much nicer. The waypoints aren't all locked because that's where all the 80's are and overall it's not overpopulated with risen. Straits of Hell is more like it; I'll never set foot in that shitty zone again.

Only for select people while they test their beta. I've never been able to use it.

As for the bans, there was also some cooking exploit that got Kripparian banned as well because he publicized it on his stream from what I heard. However, I think the Gendarran Fields champion event exploit flew under the radar fortunately. I know I abused the hell out of that grinding 25-35 in about 6-7 hours lol. Gotta love having a keyboard that can loop pressing 1 over and over.

It's been 2 hours since they've recognized that people are not getting the emails from their email authentication system (which they enabled for everyone). I really wish they would just disable it, and continue to test it privately so we can play. It was already bad enough last night they brought black lion trader up for everyone but it just took everyone's money and items.

lol. guess they saved the failure for post-launch.

cannot login myself. bummer.

i also have a shit ton of password reset requests in my mail... wonder if i'm going to log on to find my shit stripped.

Nah, it was just phishing bots hammering their system. They disabled password resets for a while to access the situation I guess. I had two spammed to me as well but no issues here with hackers.

Also, forgot to post my level 80 victory pose:

Beat the game tonight and man, they suck at instances lol. One of the boss fights had us zerging back to turrets naked because there was literally nowhere to stand without being hit by shit and after two dodges you're pretty much screwed. I'm just glad to be rid of that damn quest in my window.

For whatever reason, WvW got switched to new servers already (thought it was two weeks? w/e. . .) and we got Northern Shiverpeaks lol. It's actually a decent matchup this time though, looking at the pie chart it's split 3-ways almost perfectly equal. Good stuff, time to kill folks for karma and pimp myself out with set bonuses. Not sure why my set looks like witch hunter gear though. . .

Heh, well hard to say who's winning since Anet keeps resetting it every night. Right now, it's more of a who can zerg the map first and take the most in the early hours because you can fight all day and never make up the lost points.

So I've run into probably the biggest flaw with this game: it's not melee friendly at all. I'd say I'm using my bow 95% of the time in PvP and any scenario where there's aoe potential. This is simply poor design in the fact that I can't play the class the way I'd like to. In a 1v1 situation, melee wins hands down but since both the WvW and about 50% of encounters in PvE have multiple targets, it's foolish not to take advantage of bows for the strong damage output. I didn't pick thief so that I could kite all day with a shortbow, otherwise I'd have just played a ranger.

That said, aoe feels way too strong right now and I can't even dream of getting into the thick of a fight because projectiles are just bouncing off everyone and I'll end up flat on my ass in a matter of seconds. Being forced to play it safe at a distance is just boring the shit out of me and no, the dodge system isn't the answer when the entire battlefield is nothing but red reticles. I've never really been a fan of zerg games and this is the reason why: because there's no skill in it. I like a lot of the concepts in this game, but right now there doesn't seem to be a perfect place for me in PvP. Having finished the game, I can see why true world PvP would never have worked but I guess WoW will have to fill that void later this month.

One, you haven't "completed" the game...really.

Secondly, zerging is what this is all about in PvP and I assume WvW right now. That's what is the "easiest" thing to do (run forward, hit a couple people, die, repeat) but you can rack up a lot of points if you know how to work the battlefield to your advantage.

Zerging is tough though because if even a two man group runs around and preys on 1 guy at a time its going to be super difficult to avoid that. Forget about trying to stop an all out assault that has the whole PvP team blitzing the middle of the map objective or 50 people trying to kick down a wall in WvW.
how is beating the last mission of a game not beating it?
Has he completed every single heart and gotten every waypoint/POI in every map? I don't think he has.

Well, we beat NS last night since they came in 3rd place. Didn't get a screen because Anet was like 'derp, new build' and booted us all out immediately. We're also fighting Henge of Nerds or w/e, so I'm pretty sure Anet made this a clash of the titans server week lol. I swear, that server has only one guild because PRX is EVERYWHERE. They're really oldschool, but I hadn't realized what a zerg they turned into. We already beat them the first day though, because it's just a matter of who grabs what early in the day that wins.

So are we expected to run with power/toughness/vitality gear for PvP? Was checking the vendor at there's absolutely no customization, which to me sounds terrible. All my stats are power/precision/crit damage because to me a thief should be high dps and damage mitigation comes from blind/dodge/daze (read: skill). Maybe someone should clue Anet in on how their classes work? I am curious to see how much difference it would make versus aoe, though. Then again, pretty bad to balance aoe around one stat but it wouldn't be the first time devs got something wrong.
Has he completed every single heart and gotten every waypoint/POI in every map? That's more of completionist, than beat the game. I'm at 61% though and might finish off the lowbie zones if I ever get around to crafting. It wouldn't take more than a few days anyway, but it's boring as fuck.

Oh and actually it's impossible right now because a skill challenge in Straits of Hell is bugged. Could be sitting on two more exotic items which are selling for 1-2g right now if not for that.

Not surprising that you're sitting on real great items considering you are level 80! As far as PvP, it is able to be customized in a way based on your playstyle. Since you're a damage type of guy, roll with a glass cannon build. I personally use a long range, passable survivability guy.

So what do you guys find is the best way to gear out your level 80 characters?
The karma and gold prices on legendaries are ridiculous.
At first I thought dungeons would be the way to go but the loot drops there have been trash for me. Although I haven't done any of them on explorable mode yet.

OK, so where do I get 80 gear with my stats for karma then? See the problem? They put the same stats on all the PvP vendor gear and the temple vendors in Orr are even worse because the stats are all over the place. I'm using 70-78 gear that I've got from quest rewards or drops because I can't find anything better without spending gold. Good thing they can keep the TP up for more than 15 minutes, oh wait. . .
So what do you guys find is the best way to gear out your level 80 characters?

Karma is easy, just WvW or do pub quests all day. I could buy two pieces of gear right now but the stats are such trash that I haven't bothered. Instances are mostly worthless except for AC where you can farm gold fast (something like 1g/2 hours). I haven't done explorer mode on the last dungeon yet, but the loot we were getting from story was awful. Probably better to just farm gold and buy what you need at this point.

Can you really beat a MMO?

Anyways grats. Heres hoping they release a expansion every 2 years so I never have to get into WoW. I just can't really see myself paying monthly ever again after this game. I realize theres more content in WoW but that doesn't justify the $15 a month for me when I have a backlog of games anyways.

From the sounds of things, the game is good, but the items and drops aren't. Perhaps waiting a few months for some patches to sort things out (i.e. balance the game more) is best...

Its playable and if you like PvP you could probably have enough fun to last till they fixed the problems (which are almost entirely PvE related).

But yea there are some pretty annoying bugs. Could have done with some more time in the oven.

So World v World is really fun. But does anyone else have issues with the ques? I'm on Henge of Denravi and I realize that there are guilds that just live in WvW but I had over a 3 hour wait the other day.
The thing is, sometimes I'll que before a group of my friends and they'll get in first. I'll wait another half an hour and nothing. So I relog and que up and I'm there in 20 mins.
It's not the waiting that annoys me, it's the fact that I might not even be qued. They need to show you your position in que.

yea i haven't been able to wvw yet. i've queued up twice for 2 hours each never got in. friends got in within 20 mins.

i've been doing some sPvP though instead. pretty fun stuff. me and my lads even came in second in one of the tournies! of course rewards are bugged so we didn't actually get anything but it was cool just to make it that far.

You won't get in because PRX owns your server's WvW. We're fighting you guys this week and I have not seen a single other guild in there from your server. My queue time is either instant or not very long on Blackgate since a lot of guilds transferred off apparently. Now that they've nerfed the yak farming in WvW, I might actually try playing again because before I'd be trying to fight 10v1 everywhere I went while our server leveled off escorts.

Hate to say it, but I'm already getting bored with this game. For whatever reason, perhaps the absence of a monthly sub, there just doesn't feel like any drive to keep playing. I think it's the fact that you can 'beat' the game that gives it that finality of "I'm done". WvW is nice, but I just can't get behind the zerg mentality. There's a few balance issues that need addressing and I'm finding it very hard to find good 1v1's, because that's where I can really challenge myself and find good players. That and who I'm facing are all nameless nobodies thanks to their boilerplate server name stamp. How am I supposed to call people out for being bad? ;)

Come play Swtor again Jodou, see if you are Rated worthy :D

Sucks that GW 2 is starting to get to you though, maybe you need to slow down your gaming?

thats actually what the big appeal of guild wars was for me. a mmo-style game that had a story with an end that you could beat.

once that was done it was the fun of all the different kinds of pvp and farming for skins/trying to amass as much wealth as possible.

pretty sure its going to end up the same with gw2 for me. once the game is beat, i'll play it like i would DotA, a match here and there.

if you want 1v1 fights play sPvP. people try to one man cap all the time which leads to some fun fights.
