anyone here who's listened to the show since before he went to Sirius and can say whether the show has gotten worse or not?
My first exposure to the show was in the early 90s when Stern debuted in the Los Angeles market. At the time I was in 6th grade and my dad listened to the show when he took us to school or if I was working with him. What I remember is tons of

ing bass, Jackie's laugh, and them talking about things I knew nothing about. At the time, it was Howard Stern in the morning and classic rock all day. I didn't really get the show and wasn't interested at all.
It wasn't until that particular station, KLSX 97.1, flipped formats to FM talk (and actually put on good talent, which took some time) that I became interested in talk radio in general. It was probably a combination of the format change and me growing up. When I was in high school I liked a show called Conway and Steckler. They were funny guys and I could actually listen to it since it was on at 7PM. It wasn't until after high school that I started listening to Stern in 2002.
By 2004 he made his announcement that he was going to Sirius and by then I was definitely invested in it and listening to every second of every show. I felt that the Sirius shows during the first contract were the best I've ever heard, and that's based on everything I know now. I've gone back and listened to the "golden age" and although there's some hilarious stuff with Jackie and Gilbert and all that, I think the Artie years on Sirius were even better.
I started listening less and less throughout 2012. I would let myself lapse in shows but I would always catch up. At some point I let my Sirius subscription lapse but I obviously did not feel bad pirating the show (which I was doing anyway even when I was paying for Sirius). The absence of Artie left a huge hole that they never managed to fill, and this allowed the worst of Howard and Robin's personalities to shine through. Artie gave it that everyman feel even as Howard and Robin dove deeper into insanity. He seemed to turn the show into things he used to shit on other personalities for, like having his wife on for what basically amount to infomercials for her projects and charities.
By the middle of 2013 I was not listening at all except to hear key interviews or developments on YouTube. I also caught up on Robin's cancer diagnosis. But other than that, the changes in the show and the three-day weeks left me disinterested, and now I listen to, dare I say it, Opie and Anthony.
I'm not listening to every second of every O&A show like I did with Stern, but I do download each show and listen to the first hour at the very least. I also love the VideOandA channel on YouTube. I would subscribe to them but they keep saying the Sirius app does not work so I don't.
