I just cant get enough BBC America. From Black Book and Little Britain to my new favorite ... Chef Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, I think this is my favorite channel (next to Cartoon Network). Who's with me? And what are your favorite BBC shows?

UKnova > BBCA
You know bbca edit most of the shows they have on? I dont mean just for language either. It takes them forever to bring over any decent shows as well.
get it from the source unedited the night it is shown in the U.K. from uknova. You'll realize just how crap bbca really is.

BBC America isn't offered by my cable company, unfortunately. I had it when I lived in CT and loved it.

The original Office and Little Britain were two of my faves. I can't remember the last time I got into an American sitcom (Newsradio, maybe?) but I loves me some britcoms.

Recently picked up the HEX season 1 set but I haven't had a chance to watch through it yet...season 2 is currently running on BBC-A, right? Life on Mars also looked great but, sadly, I haven't had the pleasure of checking it out.

Goddamn you, Cablevision!

wow life on mars is the greatest show to come out of the uk in eons. You really should check it out. It's unbelieveably brilliant. Unfortunately its also edited on bbca :( That is one show you cannot take ANY part out of without screwing up the storyline huge amounts.
Torrent it. Its well worth watching uncut.

Maklershed, if you like Little Britain, UKNOVA just put up the full series of Sir Bernard Chumley's Stately Homes. :)
Join us! :p

They are also making a series of LB for hbo but in the u.s.. Dont know when its coming out though. American steriotypes ahoy! lol

Is Life on Mars the one where the dude is a cop that gets sent back in time?

And by Little Britain on HBO, do you mean its gonna be Matt Lucas and David Walliams? Cause if its not I'm not sure I'd even watch it .. they're just too good.

Also, does anyone remember the name of the show where its two roomates and they show life through their eyes and you can hear their thoughts? I grew attached to that show very quickly but BBCA took it off rather quickly.

My favorite BBCA shows by the way:

Trailer Park Boys
Little Britain
Chef Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares
The Office
Black Books

I also love Extras but its not a BBCA show.

BBC Canada is okay, there's one real kickass show. The rest are "meh". My mom loves the channel though.

I fell in love with Robin Hood this year, very Hercules/Xena, but those damn brits always have such short seasons.

The Office is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Ya, Life on mars is the 2006 cop who gets hit by a car in teh middle of an investigation and wakes up in 1973. He then has to piece together why hes there and try to make it back to 2006. I can only describe it as incredibly depressing once you watch the ending and yet incredibly uplifting at the same time. It's so amazing its hard to describe. The acting is fricken top notch. This is easily a blind buy and you will have no regrets whatsoever gauranteed. Only 2 series ever made, but they are making a new spinoff without John Simm set in the 80s.

According to the bbc, its Lucas and Walliams still but they are making a "little america" kind of thing. Basically the same format only in america.

As for the other show, I think you are thinking of Peep Show. with Mitchell and Webb. They are quite popular comedians over there and have a few other shows as well. I think the last one just finsihed showing not to long ago. Haven't seen it though since I'm not too into them.

- and Spaced is also another blind buy/ Good call Sporadic: )

Don't want to reco Tortchwood at first cause holy crap its really bad for the first half of the series. I think I read its coming out here soon. Hyperdrive series 2 is also pretty bad so far.
Current shows im diggin right now are:

1.Indian food made easy - shows how noobs can cook indian food without buring the house down. me=noob

2. Guarding the Queen - docu following a few soldiers in the grenadiers as they just get out of boot camp. those are the guys who wear the bear skin hats and cant smile outside the palace. Its incredibly cool and makes you want to join up lol.

They are the kings of panel shows, radio and tv versions.
My all time favorite being I.Q. its just so incredibly educational and funny as hell. Its basically mostly comedians coming on and doing a quiz panel type game, but its hosted by Stephen Fry so you know its erudite and funny.

8 out of 10 cats is also quite good. same formate only public opnion polls and they have to guess correctly. The only downside is its hosted by Jimmy "top 100" Carr.

Another show that is a blind buy if you like dark comedy is blue jam. Radio version is the best version. Some people think its kind of sick but its funny as hell. Torrent it!
If you like satire, brasseye, the day today, - anything by Chris Morris. He's a genious, except for Nathan Barley :p He was crap in the IT crowd as well : P

If you like sketch shows, Fist of Fun, This morning with Richard Not Judy, big train.. It's not british but Shaun Micallef is a genious at sketch as well - he's australian but is right up there with the best of british stuff.

Another genius to chek out is Derren Brown. If he had a cult, I'd be a member. Hes a really great illusionist/mentalist kind of guy. He blows away anyone you have seen so far. A good starting point for him would be the Russian Roulete episode. He picks 1 person from out of like 500 to load a gun that he shoots at his head at the end, and you get to watch how he picks them and how he is able to tell what they are going to do by watching them. hes amazing at reading people.

And my favorite educational comedy Look Around You 1, 2, featuring the infamous "maths" youtube sketch.

Enjoy my wall of text and go torrent Life on Mars and Blue Jam! You won't regret it.:bouncy:

Some quick skits from blue jam..

I wish BBC America had Ready, Steady Cook! maan i loved that show. "Ramsey's..." is awesome as well. Posh Nosh is great too, catch it on YouTube (saw it on the public station once).

Hey Mak, check out an old show from the 70s called "On The Buses"... pretty good. There are episodes on youtube periodically.

Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and Ramsay's other show "The F Word" are money in the bank. Ready, Steady, Cook is fuckin' awful and shitty. It sucks both ass and dick.

Kitchen Nightmares is coming here to Fox in the Fall with him doing American places. I doubt it will be as good.

Has nobody mentioned Hustle yet? Shows like that never get picked up over here it seems, and it's aces. As is the Real Hustle, not a spinoff but a kind-of reality based version of it, is also aces.

Havent seen The F Word yet. I've heard about it though. And I love that Kitchen Nightmares show ... it's amazing the shit that some of those restaurant owners will put out. Especially that gravy at The Wilshire Arms pub (I think thats the name of it). It looked like mud. And thats cool that the show is coming to the U.S. although part of the appeal for me is seeing the British pubs / cuisine. I'm sure it will still be good though. Ramsay will flip the hell out, the people he's trying to help will flip out, etc.

And thanks for the info Noodle and Scobie a.k.a. "The Professor"
fucking Top Gear, i've been watching this show non-stop since last friday. fucking LOVE IT. holy shit.
What channel are you watching Top gear on Ashes?

I'm from the UK and I love Top Gear, but I've not seen it on TV over here for months.

I'm pretty sure BRAVO shows Hustle, and the real hustle is getting kind of old. They just do different takes on the same scams and it feels like they are straining to make a full series now.
I also always wonder if the real hustle is just showing more unscrupulous people how to rip others off instead of helping people to spot a scam.

Trailer Park Boys is Canadian, great show btw. If your a fan of British TV check out The Office, The Mighty Boosh, and The IT Crowd.

Yaaaaaaay!
[whistle, ball approaches from off-screen, completes header]

Indeed. I have so many favorites but I'd probably have to go with Vicki Pollard, the puking lady, and the guy that thinks he's a woman ... and the Fat Fighters leader too.

Dust? Anybody? Dust. Dust. Anybody? Dust.

Hey- I had a account last year then I went away for 2 months and never checked in and they booted me :( when did they change their website? I have been trying to get back in for like 2 months. It sucks cause I had such a good share rate with them thanks to British Big Brother last year. Thanks for the tip about registration though. Cheers

@ Veedubkid, Yeah it sucks but they have such a huge amount of people wanting to get in, that they have to purge inactive accounts quite often. Thats really the only way to get back in. Sign up again. Also make sure you log in at least once per month.

They just redid the site so it runs smoother and has more options available.
They also use a numbers system instead of ratio. Don't ask me how they grade it though since its not a straight up conversion of up to down. It's based on other factors as well that they havent listed yet.

For the people that just signed up, be sure to read all the faqs before you post anything or they sometimes get snippy :p Posting requests of stuff not allowed or in the wrong forum will get you a "read the faqs" warning and your topic banished to the dead topic forums(room 101)

Also they are really BIG on being nice to everyone else. So dont insult flame, or otherwise say anything rude to other members or you will get a warning and then booted. It's worth it though since they have the most delighful forums in there and disagreements are handled in a very civil "British" way. If only the rest of the internet could be run like that.

They also have the best dr. who discussion on the internet imo lol . People are allowed to dislike stuff and discuss it without the draconian Outpost Galifrey rules and powerhungry mods.

Another big rules is not to post any torrents to other trackers. They like to keep off the radar and if you post anything that is not allowed to be uploaded elsewhere, you will get banned. The reason they have survived so long without trouble is that people respect this rule. So no boosting your ratio epenis on another site with shows you found on there.

I also reco that you introduce yourself in the new people's forum. It will get seen and you'll meet some very nice members who can help you out with suggestions and technical advice. Its not one of those places where you post a "hi I'm new" and no one replies or looks at it.

The best way to get the most use out of that site is to ask for a reseed of an old torrent. People love to boost their ratios and will be glad to reseed stuff that has been up previously. You have a massive selection of rare possibilities as long as it isn't commercially available elsewhere.

Some possible suggestions are:
Meet Ricky Gervaise
Waking the Dead - the last few series I dont think are out on dvd yet.
I.Q. in mp3 or video form
Fist of Fun
This Morning With Richard Not Judy

Those are some of the more popular shows that I can pull off the top of my head . Theya re also good ratio boosters.
Mr. Guile, are you free?? :D

AYBS is my all-time favorite Brit Comedy :)
That show is the main reason I still watch PBS. Great stuff. John Inman (Mr. Humphries) died earlier this year. I didn't even realize it until well after it happened.

yeah Guile, I was really saddened by that fact, but I did get to meet him before he passed away at a event KERA did in Dallas several years ago.
Trailer Park Boys is Canadian, great show btw. If your a fan of British TV check out The Office, The Mighty Boosh, and The IT Crowd.
Where can I find more of this The IT Crowd (If there is a way to get it in the states legially), the you tube videos has me laughing so hard I want more, lol.

Can't say I love it as the majority of British shows I've seen (and by that I mean the ones they don't even broadcast here) suck.

However they usually bring the cream of the crop over when they do decide to reach an American audience.

As such, I enjoy all the classics.

Extras was the last show I got into. And I just bought the complete series of Chef!.
Where can I find more of this The IT Crowd (If there is a way to get it in the states legially), the you tube videos has me laughing so hard I want more, lol.
You can either torrent the uk version or wait for the us version to come out. I doubt there will be much differnce in the story since they are copying it over here. Moss is the only reason to watch it and they are bringing him over to do the us version too so I dont think it will matter which version you go for.

At the moment it's only showing in NA on the Canadian version of G4 called G4TechTV, you can stream the episodes off here though. The first season is finished with a total of 6 episodes and season 2 is going to air before the end of 07 in Britain.
The Office is one of my favorite shows of all time.
the only british show i've seen, and probably my favorite tv show period. i bought the boxset, something i've never done for any other show.

Hex is money IMO. It is kind of a guilty pleasure type of show. But it really felt like a Buffy the Vampire type show to me. I really like how one character in particular shows some growth by changing froma total prick into a decent guy. They also pulled a plot twist that most american shows wouldn't think of here for fear of losing their audience

oooooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

It looks like the world's highest production cost car show, Top Gear, is coming to America. BBC America that is. That's right -- Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May won't just be stopping by to hoon around a bit like they did last time, instead it looks as though they'll be coming stateside to a local cable operator near you -- at least according to the BBC America site. They're showing off air times starting on August 20th with "Episode 1." No idea what season that means they'll be showing although the Top Gear BBC America page does show the guests for this season include "Ewan McGregor, Ray Winstone, and Sir Michael Gambon as well as celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver."
UPDATE: We've spoken with a person at BBC America who tells us that yes, this is official -- BBC America will be airing Top Gear UK starting August 20th!
