Yes, yet another indie bundle, but like the Humble Bundle, you can set your own price and donate to charity as well. The games only register on Steam, but that won't be a problem for most here. You get a key for each individual game, so you can gift whatever you do not personally want if you feel like it.

Happy Hour guidelines:

*Happy Hour happens at random times: sometimes as early as 4 days after the bundle going live, but most often during the second week of sales.

Happy Hour! Double Gifts! During Happy Hour time New buyers for every gift purchase get a 2nd bonus gift for free (2x1)! All gifts are doubled! Remember to check 'IS IT A GIFT'! *If you have not purchased the current Indie Gala yet, you can buy two for one during happy hour

And if you are an early buyer the deal is EVEN BIGGER!

Yes! If you already bought the current indiegala bundle, you get 2 bonus gifts for free for every gift purchased ( 3 x 1 ) *If you have already purchased the bundle, but you did not purchase it in the first week, you can buy three for one

And if you bought it in the first week you get 3 bonus gifts for free for every gift purchased ( 4 x 1 ) *If you already purchased the current bundle and did so in the first week of the current bundle going live, you can buy four for one

Remember to check 'IS IT A GIFT' ! if you want to take advantage of Happy Hour. You have to check this also if, after purchasing a bundle for yourself with your own email address, you want another additional bundle for you. If you don't, transactions amount will sum on your original email account and you can upgrade your purchase, obtaining more bonuses if you previously didn't unlock it, or more galapoints.

REMEMBER: (Gift purchases are not upgradable and don't contribute to upgrade your personal account for unlock new content.)
***For Happy Hour, you MUST use the same e-mail you used when buying your first bundle, and you MUST check the gift option below the payment method. You have to buy again during Happy Hour to receive gift copies.

CAG Group Buy Hosting FAQ

Q: I see all of these CAGs hosting group buys for people. What's that all about?
A: It's a way for CAGs to help each other get the best deal. One person will buy the bundle during the first week, then they will buy four gift copies at the highest tier during Happy Hour. This person is referred to as the host. They then try to sell these to participants for a fraction of the price of buying the "beat the average" bundle individually, plus some extra to distribute the cost of the initial bundle purchase in the first week. The host gains money back, and the participants get the full bundle for a fourth of the cost. Everyone wins.

Q: How do I host one?
A: To host a CAG group buy, you must first purchase the Indie Gala full BTA (beat the average) bundle in the first week (this has been changed since the previous bundles). This will allow you to purchase four additional bundles for the price of one during a Happy Hour, as stated in the Happy Hour post above. Now, it does matter how much you initially spend, as you must purchase the full bundle in order to purchase full bundle four-packs during Happy Hour. Then, once Happy Hour starts, you buy a gift copy for the current "beat the average" price, which will be listed on the Indie Gala page. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK "IS IT A GIFT" TO GET FOUR GIFT COPIES.

Q: It's asking me for multiple e-mail addresses. What do I do?
A: Just skip that part. The links to the gifts will be added to your account page (which is another reason why you must always use the same e-mail address when ordering from Indie Gala). Most hosts will send out the gift URLs to their participants in a PM.

Q: Is it hard to do?
A: No, it's very quick and easy. Just keep track of which gift URLs you have sent to which people, and you will be fine.

The price now is likely to be the lowest buy in price for this bundle. Indiegala doesn't use true averages, they manipulate the price.

If you buy in now for $6 then you will be eligible for a 4x multiplier during happy hour. So every gift bundle you buy during HH you actually get 4. Also, group gift packs qualify for HH so you can get them even cheaper by buying 5 gifts at a time at a reduced rate.
Excellent explanation, thanks!

Suuuuuuuure, they will never recycle these games in another Gala Bundle/GalaStore Bundle ever again!

A fair amount of repeats, with a bone (Teleglitch) thrown in to try to convince people to buy it.....ass.....er....pass.

And while I'm at it: fuck you Bundle-In-A-Box for your stupid high BTA. Really? People are paying $8+ for their 27th copy of Cognition 2?!?!?!?

Owning none of the games except Hacker, I dropped the cash to be in an exclusive bundle!!!1!!1!

edit: ok, this is weird, I checked my IG library, and apparently for IG5 I have 2 gift links listed. If they have been redeemed, will it say so? Both just says 'bought on ' with a link and a field to put in an email address.

Also tempted to get it for Teleglitch, but already have most of the rest. Will recommend A Valley Without Wind, surprisingly engaging roguelike platforming game (+ cards).

Has any of Indie Galas sold 10k?

Most of them, yes, but that's only because of Happy Hour sales.
What the moss said, but I will say they tend to sell 10K at least pre-HH and then after HH it jumps to the 20 to 30K region depending on the bundle.

They didn't initiate the email address system until after IG5 so I assume they retroactively added that to all bundles. If you're 100% sure you didn't buy two and sell the other one to anyone else then you can go for it. Someone should have used those keys buy now if they wanted to is what I want to say, but reading some lists in the trade forum I know some people hang on to them for quite a long time.

Hacker Evolution Duality was in 2 bundles just last month and now we are seeing it again. Funny thing is when you click on the image of Hacker Evolution Duality, it shows you Teleglitch...now is that getting hacked or a real glitch or just genius tempting marketing move?

Hmm... The only thing I don't own from the BTA level is the Flashpoint* games... which I should have gotten in the Flashpoint Bundle.  Not like I'm raging mad about that or anything...  Still can't decide...

Kinda amusing about the FUEL inclusion since it just got persona-non-grata status with Gaben.  And the whole, tied-to-a-large-block-of-GFWL-and-dumped-off-a-dock-in-Jersey...

*which both have 45 userscore and haven't actually peaked my interest... well outside of *not* being included in the Flashpoint bundle.

Same here. I'm only missing the Flashpoint games.

I didn't like FUEL, it's lacking in every category for a racing game. Tries to be a jack of all trades, but fails at everything.

^_^

It was fun enough in the few hours I spent with it. Imo, avoid the open world bit. The racing bit was still competent, and had the interesting tradeoff of different speeds on different surfaces so you could make more than one route viable. It's the racing game to own when you already own all the decent ones. =D

The Indie Gala Limited Bundle is lowered to $3.99 with 6,600 copies left.
And yet still Teleglitch has been cheaper ($3.24 @ GMG, before coupons).

There's no way codemasters would bundle Dirt 2 and Fuel and not plan on fixing the DRM.
If this were a Humble Bundle, I'd agree with you.. but this is Indie Gala we're talking about. I would almost bet that the reason they went with Indie Gala was because they didn't care about removing GFWL.

I can picture a scenario where Humble rejects Codemasters due to them not wanting to remove GFWL from all games.

I agree. No news about removing GFWL from any of their games aside from DiRT 3 and their poor CS record leads me to believe that they're being bundled because they're not going to be removing GFWL.

I'd also be surprised if Humble would - at this point - let in a game with GFWL still present (even if the dev claimed that they were going to remove it.)

I thought I saw a day where those two games were removed from Steam and then in a couple hours new app IDs popped up. People thought it was new GFWL-free versions. No explanation if all previous owners get them for free or whatnot.

Could get a slightly expanded explanation on that... or a link? Not sure I'm following but I am curious.

As for them going indie bundle over humble...

I'm sure those GfWL codes weren't generated for free so if you know the service is going to go offline and/or become even more unpopular than before... Well, its smart business to clear out your inventory for whatever you can get for it.

It's been removed from steam for purchase, and that never bodes well.

Ah, yeah, not good at all... Steam isn't too high on protecting their customers so yeah I would consider that confirmation of both Codemaster's desire to NOT remove GfWL and also MS's plan to close GfWL (which last I read still hadn't been confirmed after they remove the orginal information on the AOE page.)

I feel like the real question here is this: is Fuel any good?

Er, Ashes?
I don't know if she's posted a full review for it, but she did post about it here:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/276219-the-indie-gala-bundle/page-319#entry11330890

I personally didn't like the game. I think she's right about it being the racing game to own when you have all of the good ones. IMO there are so many better racing games out there I wouldn't bother with it.

The vehicle designs are horrible, handling is crap, open world in the game is extremely empty making free roam very boring, which makes getting all the collectibles in the game a pain. I could go on, but I didn't see any redeeming qualities in the game. If you want a good open world racer, go with Burnout Paradise.

A long time ago (June) in a place far far away (CAG 2.0) I posted this:

Okay, so I got sick of not being able to answer inquiries about FUEL... so I spent several hours with it yesterday... I'm only a few hours in so this is a little provisional, but I doubt more time would change what I have to say.

Fuel is not a bad racing game. It has a fairly standard arcade physics model. Racing includes dirt bikes, quads, cars (and possibly more). There are two bits that are fairly unique to Fuel. (1) Most races are checkpoint races, but there is no set path you have to stay on, you can take any path you choose. Which leads to (2) there seems to be three basic types of surfaces you can drive on: asphalt, trail, & wilderness. Different vehicles are better (faster is seems) on different surfaces, driving through wilderness is definitely speed-penalized. This means that it's up to you to choose how much to shortcut though wilderness and how much to stay on road/trail. I like this mechanic.

Open World: Yes it seems to be huge open world (without a much variation in the areas I've been to). However getting across the open world is slow and uninteresting. Fortunately you don't have to, races & challenges are all menu accessible (enter and leave a race to shortcut across the map). There seem to be discoverable stuff like liveries in the open world bit. I however believe atm that the open world bit is best skipped, if there were vehicles/performance parts I could put up with it. I now understand why some optional parts of the Refueled mod seem to be cheat-like discoverable unlocks... I'd be tempted... I hate cheating, but if the alternative is sh*t it's on the table.

Technically: Well it's based on some engine I've never seen before. Technically the graphics are okay, not deplorable, not likeable. 4x MSAA doesn't help with aliasing as much as it should (but it does affect performance), I turned off in-game AA and used SweetFX to add in SMAA to my satisfaction. I'm running at 1920x1200 on a Phenom II X3 720 BE OC'd at 3.2 GHz and an OC'd GTX 660 (overkill for any 2009 game). While my framerate is acceptable, it sometime dips to the low 50s without being at 100% CPU or GPU load (I never seem to hit 100% CPU or GPU load in Fuel).

Other tips: You can try any Career race at three difficulty levels: LOL, Seriously?!?, and Putting up a Fight, each level rewards more fuel (currency). "Challenges" are races in different formats that don't have a difficulty selection but aren't any more challenging... but they reward a nice amount of fuel.. don't pass them up.

TL;DR Decent arcade racer. Avoid the open world abyss.

Edit: I'd also add that I'm tempted to try some SweetFX filters to spice up the visuals... I'm not generally a fan of such filters.. but it might give Fuel some needed visual pop.

Edit2: SecuROM + GFWL fyi.
I feel like the real question here is this: is Fuel any good?

Er, Ashes?
It's not bad if you ignore the open world. It's the racer to own when you own all the decent ones. I'd hope anyone buying FUEL (normally, not accounting for indie bundle) already owns DiRT 2 (or 3), GRID, & NFS:HP 2010.

I don't know if she's posted a full review for it, but she did post about it here:

I personally didn't like the game. I think she's right about it being the racing game to own when you have all of the good ones. IMO there are so many better racing games out there I wouldn't bother with it.

The vehicle designs are horrible, handling is crap, open world in the game is extremely empty making free roam very boring, which makes getting all the collectibles in the game a pain. I could go on, but I didn't see any redeeming qualities in the game. If you want a good open world racer, go with Burnout Paradise.
Thanks. I didn't feel the handling was as bad as you, but then again I also decided to write-off the open-world-failure and just ignore the (big boring) open world.
