AMARILLO, Texas - Texas-based Hastings Entertainment Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Company officials say the reorganization filing includes its parent company, Draw Another Circle, and sister brands Movie Stop and SPImages.

A statement posted Monday on the Hastings website says the Chapter 11 process will help prepare the business for an intended sale, while providing protections and financing to continue operations. Further financial details weren’t released.

Hastings will no longer accept or honor deposits for movie purchases and will no longer rent games. Hastings gift cards expire July 13, 2016. The company’s buyback program has been suspended.

General
Question: What is Hastings / GoHastings.Com?
Answer:
Founded in 1968, Hastings Entertainment, Inc. is a leading multimedia entertainment retailer that combines the sale of new and used books, videos, video games and CDs, and trends and consumer electronics merchandise, with the rental of videos and video games in a superstore format. Currently there are 146 superstores. Hastings also operates www.goHastings.com, an e-commerce Internet Web site that makes available to customers new and used entertainment products and unique, contemporary gifts and toys.

Question: Gee, this is a really long FAQ. Doesn't Hasting have their own FAQ for customers?
Answer:
Hastings does have their own FAQ. You can read Hastings' official FAQ by clicking here. However, this FAQ goes into many details that Hastings' own FAQ does not. So be sure to read through all of this before asking a question!

Game / Item Condition
Question: What is the difference between "used" and "previously viewed" items on GoHastings.Com?
Answer:
"Used" games and movies are items that have been traded in to a Hastings retail location by a customer. "Previously viewed" games and movies are items that Hastings has rented out to customers at their retail locations but are now selling to the public.

When it comes to video games, most CAGs report no real difference between the two other than some ancillary stickers, but both "used" and "previously viewed" games are subject to being scratched, abused, or incomplete depending how well it was previously taken care of.

When it comes to movies, the "Previously Viewed" rental versions often lack features from the full retail versions and may come in different boxes, have different UPCs, have white barcode stickers around the center ring of the disc, etc.

You may encounter a situation where a customer has purchased a "previously used" item from Hastings, then traded it back into Hastings, thus making it a "used" item. This practiced is frowned upon by most customers, but Hastings has shown next to no incentive to change it. It mostly happens with movies.

Question: Do used and previously viewed video games come complete with the original case and manual?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com states as follows:

Due to the nature of used products; booklet inserts, digital movie downloads and manuals are not guaranteed in our used video games, movies and CDs.
However, the vast majority of CAGs have reported that a large majority of their games do arrive complete. Incomplete games are more of an exception rather than the rule.

Question: Are used collector's editions and limited editions of games guaranteed to come with extras like bonus discs, statutes, and other items?
Answer:
No. Hopefully the used CE and LE games would at least come with all of the discs, but this is not guaranteed. And there is absolutely no guarantee other physical items or "swag" will be included for these used copies. However, CAGs have reported that they have purchased used CE and LE games and received all of the extras. If you order a used CE or LE and it does not come with the extras, just contact customer service and ask about a return/refund.

Question: What condition do "used" and "previously viewed" discs come in?
Answer:
Mosts CAGs seem to get games in good, playable condition if not better. However, there have been cases of receiving a game so scratched up that it would not load/play. These games can be returned to GoHastings.Com at no cost to the customer for a full refund.

NEW!
Question: Are New condition games factory sealed or gutted and re-sealed?
Answer:
As of mid-2013, Hastings retail stores have adopted a policy of gutting games then storing the game discs, manuals and DLC papers separately. This is so they do not have to lock up games or put security cases on games yet still allow the customer to physically handle the boxes in-store. When a new game is sold, Hasting will either re-seal the game or they will place the game in a bag that cannot be opened if you want to return the game as new.

Shipping
Question: Why are my items shipping individually? Why does GoHastings.Com include a shipping charge for each individual item ordered?
Answer:
Hastings does not have warehouses for fulfilling internet orders. All items are shipped from individual brick and mortar retail stores. If your order contains multiple items, your order may ship from multiple locations at different times if one location does not have all of the items you ordered. Because items could ship from more than one location, GoHastings.Com charges a per item shipping fee. Yes this can be frustrating, so its best to either get over it if you intend to shop at GoHastings.Com, or if you can't get over it, shop elsewhere. Like all "deals," include the shipping price per item into consideration for the total cost of the game being purchased.

UPDATED!
Question: How much is shipping per item?
Answer:
Video Games and PC software ship for $2.28 per item.

CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays ship for $1.29 per item.

Books have a per-order charge of $3.00 plus $0.99 shipping per book ordered.

Game Hardware, Electronics and Trends have a per-order charge of $1.99 plus $0.10 shipping per ounce for each item ordered.

Full shipping information, including expedited shipping prices, can be found HERE.

Occasionally, GoHastings.Com offers free or reduced shipping promotions.

Please note, books used to ship for $0.96 per order with no per item charge but Hastings discontinued that pricing scheme as of January 10, 2014. CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays used to ship for $0.96 per item, but Hastings raised that price to the current cost as of approximately May 25, 2014.

Question: How long does it take GoHastings.Com to ship my order?
Answer:
Standard Shipping:
Order processed within 48 Hours
Shipping time is 3-10 Days

Priority / Expedited Mail:
Order processed within 48 Hours
Shipping time is 2 - 3 Days

Question: What service does GoHastings.Com use to ship items?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com primarily ships items using the United States Postal Service (USPS). Video games ship via USPS First Class Mail. Books, movies and music ship via USPS Media Mail. Larger orders may ship via UPS.

Question: Will GoHastings.Com give me a tracking number for each shipment?
Answer:
Every shipment usually has a tracking number associated with it. If you did not see a tracking number in the shipping confirmation email, check your order history on GoHastings.Com.

Question: What will GoHastings.Com ship my items in?
Answer:
It will vary. Hastings might use a yellow paper mailer with bubble padding on the inside. They might use a white plastic envelope with bubble padding on the inside. They might use a stiffer paper/lighter cardboard envelope with no padding. Hastings will try to jam as many items into any of the above envelope options as possible, resulting in frequently damaged books, broken game/movie/CD cases, etc. On rare occasions, someone at Hastings will have the common sense to put larger or heavier items into a box for safer shipping, but even then they will neglect to use padding. Hastings used to ship items in a white plastic poly-bag with absolutely no padding or protection, but after numerous complaints, the company claims these are supposed to be phased out and no longer in use. They still pop up from time to time.

Order Cancellations / Out Of Stock Items
Question: Why was an item cancelled out of my order? Why is that item back in stock right now?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com fills their stock from their Hastings brick and mortar retail locations. Additionally, GoHastings.Com sells items on Amazon and eBay. Their online inventory system is antiquated and does not update stock instantaneously across physical store locations, GoHastings.Com, Amazon, and eBay. Therefore if someone bought the same item first in store/on Amazon/on eBay, their order will be fulfilled first and your item will be cancelled if there is not enough inventory to go around, even though you thought the item was in stock. Yes this sucks, but now you know about it so you can simply choose not to shop at GoHastings in the future if you can't deal with it. No need to endlessly complain about it in posts. Consider writing a letter to the president of Hastings, whose contact info can be found below this FAQ.

Because Hastings' physical store locations accept trade-ins for the used items that they sell, an item that was out of stock may quickly come back into stock if someone trades in the same item, or if someone returns the same item. However, as stated above, GoHastings.Com has an antiquated online system, and they will not be able to fulfill any items on your order once they have been canceled. You will have to re-order the item, at which time the promotion you initially ordered under may have expired. You can try to contact customer service to see if they will create a new order for you with the price point your originally ordered under.

Question: I just ordered something and now it shows as out of stock, either on my order history page or on the item's page. Will my order be canceled?
Answer:
Probably not, but it is still possible. GoHastings.Com updates its inventory count immediately when sales from the website are made. Therefore if they had one item, and you ordered it, it will now show up as out of stock on GoHastings.Com. However, if someone ordered it off Hastings' eBay or Amazon Marketplace listings first, they may fulfill that order first and cancel your order. Also, if someone walks into the store and purchases the item before it is pulled to ship to you, your order will be canceled. Additionally, store employees may not be able to locate the item and thus cancel your order for that reason. Hastings also has a problem on their website where items in your order history show as out of stock, sometimes regardless of the actual stock. Your best bet is to take a deep breath and not worry about it.

Sale Pricing
NEW!
Question: How can I tell if one promotion or discount is better than a different commonly offered promotion or discount?
Answer:
The following guides are only for video games since they take into consideration the $2.28 per game shipping price. You will have to do your own math for music/movies, books, trends/electronics and other shipping sales.

Remember, stock and prices fluctuate constantly and may not be the same by the next sale.

The math in the Buy 2 Get 1 For $1 deal assumes you choose three equally priced games to maximize your potential savings.

Question: GoHastings.Com totally raised their prices prior to the sale! OMGWTFBBQSauce! Should I call the police / attorney general / president of the United States?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com claims to not raise their prices prior to sales. Their pricing is based on algorithms that consider things like supply, demand, competitor pricing, market rates, etc. If a game was $10 before the sale and $15 24 hours into the sale, chances are there were only a couple of copies of the game and someone bought one when the sale started, thus affecting the supply and demand. You are not the only one monitoring a Wish List on GoHastings.Com. However, there have been some clearly documented instances of raising prices right before a sale, especially with books rather than games.

Promotional Deal Codes
Question: Why is the promotional code not applying to my order?
Answer:
Certain M-rated games carry the disclaimer that "This item is only available for purchase by customers age 17 and older." If you have such a game in your cart, be sure to check the box by the "Check Out" button that says "I am at least 17 years of age" before clicking the "Apply Promotion Code" button to apply the promotional code.

Additionally, some promotional codes only apply to select qualifying titles. Be sure that your order only contains such titles. Occasionally the GoHastings.Com programmers miss something and games that are supposed to qualify do not work with the promotional code. If this is the case, please contact GoHastings.Com. Contact information can be found below this FAQ.

Question: Can I use more than one promotional code at the same time? Can I stack promotional codes?
Answer:
No, you can only apply one promotional code per order. This prevents code stacking. If there are two promotional codes valid at the same time that you would like to use, you must place two or more separate orders.

Question: What time do promotions normally begin / end?
Answer:
GoHastings.Com operates based on the Central Time Zone. Weekly promotions usually start on Sunday and usually last the whole week. Various other promotions may have different start times and durations. Promotions usually begin at midnight Central time. However, sometimes the new promotions take a while to go "live" on the website, so always double check your order that the correct discounted price is shown.

Order Problems and Contacting Customer Service
(Including Returns/Replacements for Wrong Item or Damaged/Defective Item)

Question: I am trying to place an order and have entered my correct shipping address, billing address and credit card info. The check out page says there is a problem with my information and I need to correct it, but nothing is incorrect. What is going on?!
Answer:
This is a random error that seems to affect some people and not others. There is no known cause for it. People have reported it occurring with different credit card companies (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.). Some people think it has to do with what web browser you use, so perhaps try a different one. Some people have reported they can't place orders from computers or IP numbers located out of the state where their billing or shipping address is located. The bottom line is there is no fix for this problem from the customer's end. Your only attempt to get it resolved will be to CALL Customer Service. Contact details for Customer Service can be found below this FAQ.

Question: GoHastings.Com sent me a defective game or the wrong game. How do I return it? Can they send me a replacement/correct item?
Answer:
Contact customer service to initiate the return process. Customer service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ. GoHastings.Com will not charge you to ship the game back, and they will give you a full refund, including what you paid initially for shipping. In some instances, they will simply refund the cost of the item and let you keep the defective or wrong item for free. GoHastings.Com will not normally send you a replacement item if you received a defective or incorrect item. They will usually tell you that you must place a new order, at which time the promotion you initially ordered under may have expired. You can try to contact customer service to see if they will create a new order for you with the price point you originally ordered under.

Question: Something went wrong with my order. How do I contact customer service?
Answer:
Customer service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ.

Question: Should I call or email customer service?
Answer:
CAGs have reported mixed experiences with both calling and emailing Hastings Customer Service. It is up to your preference. If you are contacting them regarding credit card issues, it may be best to call rather than put highly sensitive information in an email. If you call during business hours, your issue may be resolved right then over the phone. You might also have to wait on hold for a long period of time during peak hours. If you email, you may have to wait up to 48 hours to get a response, especially if you email over the weekend. Often the email replies fail to understand your entire issue with your order. Customer Service contact information is located in this post, below the FAQ.

Question: What is GoHastings.Com return policy?
Answer:
The GoHastings.Com website states their return policy is as follows:

All items purchased through gohastings.com may be returned for a full refund of the purchase price, if they meet the following criteria:

 • All new items are in original unopened packaging.
 • Return of product is within 30 days of shipping date.
 • Returned product(s) must be in the original packaging and include any manuals, cabling and accessories in saleable condition.
 • Video Game Systems that are found defective within the 30 day window must make a return using the manufacturer's warranty.
Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.
Note: Products purchased through goHastings.com may not be returned to a physical store location for refund.
However, this can be confusing considering used items, such as games, come in opened packaging. Normally GoHastings has no problem with returns for defective or incorrect used game shipments that are promptly requested. At the very least, if a game item was found to be defective within 30 days of the shipping date, you would have a good argument toward customer service that you should be able to return the game item. Abusing the return policy to replace your own broken items with items from GoHastings inventory wouldn't be a good idea.

Question: Where are Hastings brick and mortar retail stores located?
Answer:
Question: Are the online prices the same in store? Are the online specials valid in store?
Answer:
Generally speaking, no. For used items and for some new items, GoHastings.Com uses algorithms where prices can change multiple times in one day. Hastings retail locations have their own set prices. See your local store for more information. Additionally, online special sales and promotions are not valid in store. Sometimes Hastings runs the same pricing online and in store for certain items.

Question: Are the brick and mortar retail location advertisements valid online?
Answer:
Generally the prices in the retail location advertisements are not valid on GoHastings.Com. Sometimes Hastings runs the same pricing online and in store for certain items.
Mine too! Almost everything on my wishlist dropped in price. I wonder if its a glitch but I wont question it lol.

no, thats not AT ALL what the guy said to you. You have a *better* chance getting a complete item when you buy used (in my experience), but hastings does not guarantee condition of anything, or the existence of manuals, etc. They only guarantee that the disc works. If you are so picky you need to get everything in perfect condition with all original everything, then hastings is not the place for you. In fact, the used market in general isnt really the place for you....
Which guy? I was told two different things by two different "guys". And while I appreciate your advice on what markets I should be avoiding, my question had less to do with the used market in general than with GoHastings in specific.

Ok, does anyone know how to change the email associated with a GH account?

I changed my login email and figured that would be it. But all that did was change my login ID; all of my order and shipping confirmations are still going to my old email address.

You quoted tsel, and i quoted your response to tsels post, so not too hard to figure out... Also i answered your question in regards to gohastings before mentioning the used market in general. You admitted to being very picky about condition and completion, and therefore gohastings is most likely not for you. Chances are you will only be happy with about 50% of your purchases if you care that much.
this place and estarland, nothing ever in stock:roll:
Damn those people who have what you want and won't trade it into those respective places!
with this being 40 percent when you buy 4 how does that matchup with 20 percent w freeship
whats the free ship code?

Skyrim $17..time crisis $8 metal gear hd $17 NFs hot pursuit $7 total $50 all for ps3. But I cancel the order finally because lack of money.
whats the free ship code?
there is none right now, he just wanted to know how it would compare if there was one.

Got my final OG Xbox game in today. Arrived complete and plays, unlike the ones from yesterday. That puts them 2 for 5 on that order of games. Considering 1 was a DS game, that puts them 1/4 on two generation old games. I probably wouldn't go down that rabbit hole again on another sale.

Just to share my own experiance with hastings thus far, I ordered 12 X360 games from them over their CYBERMON sale and this one (Afro Samurai, Singularity, TC:GR Future Soldier, Amazing Spiderman, Bionic Commando, Homefront, Force Unleashed 2, WET, Game of Thrones, Stoked Big Air, Lollipop Chainsaw, Quantum Theory) This was my first time with the site, I'm generally anti-used. But I was really excited at the result, all the games arrived a lot faster then I thought they would (about 2-4 days total), and all were in great condition. The copies of Quantum Theory and Singularity I ordered and paid for as used were actually FACTORY SEALED with MS seal still unbroken, all others were in perfect working order, manuals and cases in great or good condition. Actually, Afro Samurai had some old price sticker residue in the corner and the manual in Stoked looked pretty used, that is all I can say negatively. All disks in great condition, no scratches and working great. 12 titles for under $60 with the 40% off 4 deals. Love this site, will continue to buy from them for a long time I hope.

Ordered:

All on blu:
Amazing Spiderman blu/dvd combo
Scream 4
Final Destination 5 blu/dvd combo
The Thing (Winstead)

All for $27.91 after shipping. :)

Wanted to get Avengers bit they are out of stock. Surprised Amazing Spider-man wasn't. Hopefully all of it ships

Updated the first post with some stuff from the email they sent tonight. For those wondering, the 5 for $25 book list is still gimped. I think you might be able to get some good deals on those LEGO sets, even though I think Hastings charges shipping for those by weight.
How's it gimped?
A ton of books across all categories that normally worked on these types of promotions haven't been working on the promotions for the past few weeks. The main area where this seems to be affected is graphic novels, where they've removed anything worth buying. I said it in an earlier post, but the number of graphic novels that qualify lately is just a small fraction of all of their in stock used graphic novels. Usually some books randomly didn't qualify but the vast majority did. Now its like the opposite.

Oh man, I was hoping it was a good kinda gimped. There goes the chance of ordering $150 worth of books for $25.

Thanks for the reply, though. Much appreciated.

This was months ago. Something like three used books for 33% off, but it was working on any books, even pre-orders, and you could get brand new books for like $10 or something crazy like that. I have terrible memory, but I do remember it being a steal.
Anyone got any thoughts on

Star Ocean is pretty good if you like jrpgs. not as good as say Tales of Vesperia but I still enjoyed it. Venetica i havent beat yet but it seems somewhat decent. I got it for $8 and I'd say its worth $10 or less. havent played the others. if you are getting them for the 360, I'd download the demos.

It was supposed to be new books under $9.99 for $7 if you buy three but it was including any new book from the site, so I got a ton of $20+ books for $7 new. I got in on it, but only as gifts for my family, I know other people here ordered tons of books with that.

Back in May there was 2 for $12 on new books, and Hastings included a variety of high priced graphic novels in that sale, possibly intentionally but likely unintentionally. I ordered stuff like The Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1, Deadpool and Cable Ultimate Collections, and volumes of Ed Brubaker's Sleeper, all of which were a steal for $6 each. I don't remember it working on pre-orders and I've never personally pre-ordered from Hastings.

Edit: Also, lol. Hastings wants me to send back that book I posted pictures of a couple of pages back. I'm tempted to put it (still in the shredded poly bag) in a zip lock bag and show them the same considering in shipping that they show their customers.

i really wanted to like divinity 2 but i couldn't get into it at all. the graphics were pretty bad even though I don't care much about graphics. I didn't like the combat either, I even like skyrim better and I hate skyrims combat. The only thing that was interesting was exploration, but don't stray too far from your appropriate level enemies

I wonder what I can find to order later. Got a ton of Iron Maiden dvds and some seasons of American Dad for the 4+ for 40% off sale. Bound to be a lot of things on there I will find later and debate on all night.

Though Hastings has stopped posting end dates to their sales, which is an annoying marketing tactic, you probably have all week to wait and see what else wanders into stock tonight.

And don't forget, this sale is good for New items in all categories, many of which often never get their own discount codes.

Unfuckingacceptable. You do not shove that many things into one polymailer. Of course the Blu-ray case is broken and the Star Wars box set outer box is beat to shit, but that could have been the condition to start with. I also received a lone Blu-ray separately in a bubble mailer and what do you know? It's in mint condition.

For anyone interested, Hastings has a used copy of Absolute Batman The Long Halloween in stock that you can get for $32.68 shipped after the $10 off $40 code. If it arrives without much damage that's a pretty decent price.

Updated the first post with their Skylander offer from today's email. No idea if their shipping rate for those kills the deal.

Hey Gamers-
Allow me to vent for a moment regarding my 2nd experience w/ GoHastings (Hastings).
After a great 1st time purchasing experience back in October, I decided to "roll the dice" again and take advantage of their "Buy 4 or more & get 40% off used games, movies, etc" from this past weekend.
Well all my items have shipped, coming from various locations......I've gotten just about everything in great condition.....UNTIL today when I was expecting to receive "Dynasty Warriors 6" for Xbox 360 based on the tracking info.
The flimsy, gray plastic baggie is addressed to me, with the tracking # referenced for the game.......but when I open it up, it's a totally different game (Resident Evil 6), for someone else who lives @ 30mins away.
Shocked, I called and after a 15min wait on the phone, spoke with Kirsten who apologized, told me she was refunding the cost & shipping of "DW6" back to my credit card, and I would have to reorder the game at the current price within 30 days, and after it ships, they would refund the difference in price of what I pay if it's higher to the promotional price from this past weekend.
Talk about a "roundabout" way to do business......especially when the game is still currently in stock, I questioned why they either couldn't just send the game out to me while it's still available, or process the order on their end now with the price that I paid this past weekend. Of course I was told, "No, they're not set up to do that. They can only refund"
CRRRRRRRRAZZZZZY !!!!!!!

She then mentioned she would send a pre-paid label for me to send "Res Evil 6" back to them...........that's when I questioned her about whether they were going to provide me also with a mailing envelope/plastic as well. She stated, "No"...that I would have to use the "plastic bag" that I currently have or purchase one on my own.
I then started to lose my cool a bit, because even though a mailing envelope for this wrong game would be no more than $1, it's the whole principle behind it.
Here I am taking time out of my evening to call them out on a mistake they made, in hopes of rectifying the problem in a matter of minutes, especially since the item I should have gotten is still available. And they want me to spend extra money to repurchase it, and spend money on a BETTER shipping envelope than what they sent me. I even told her, I couldn't believe she or the company would expect me to reuse this crappy plastic bag to send anything to anyone now that it's cut open and ripped badly.
She then places me on hold for several minutes, to come back and tell me that they would really like for me to send the game back if possible, but I didn't have to if it was going to be any trouble. But the refund has been processed, and the "roundabout" way of purchasing what I should have gotten is still available for 30 days based on the reference # she provided.

GEEESH !!!!!

I even offered her to contact the person of the game I have, and see if it would be ok for the two of us to exchange phone #'s so we could perhaps meet up, as we're relatively close.....and of course she says, "No" to that.

I already have "Resident Evil 6" & have no need for another copy. I had no intentions of "trying to get something for nothing".

Good Lord..........can I get the hour of my evening that I've spent messing with this back ?!

Thanks for letting me vent and get this off my chest Gamers............

Game On !

( I just know now after a successful and great 1st experience back in October with Hastings, the honeymoon phase is officially OVER ! )

Seems like you are trying to make a bigger deal out of it then it is.

They will NEVER give out another persons info. Also, you aren't force to send the game back so you can basically just trade it in some where for credit.

And you are still going to get your game for the price.

I don't know why you expected them to send you a new mailing envelope. That's never ever happened, ever.

Even if the plastic poly bag is ripped, slap some tape on it and send that shit back to them. If that's how they want to ship it to you, then that's how they should receive it back. Recently I received a book absolutely manged in one of those poly bags. I didn't even open the bag because I could see the book was destroyed from the huge rips in the bag. Hastings asked me to send it back to them. I laughed and even mused in this thread that I should send it back to them in a sandwich bag. In the end I just stuck the still technically unopened package in a padded envelope I saved from another purchase from them. So I guess the moral of the story is try to save some padded envelopes or be prepared to tape back up a poly bag and send things back that way.

Them even offering to let you order the product at the current price then refund you the difference of what you paid was already a huge YMMV. The vast majority of customers never get that option. It's not company policy to offer that and quite frankly I'm surprised it was offered to you. The usual policy is to ask for you to send it back if it was worth over $5, and then they'll fully refund you when it is returned to them. If you still want the item you can pay whatever the new market price is, no difference in price refund offered. So you shouldn't be annoyed at what they offered you - yes its an ass backward order management system they have, but you actually got a better than usual result out of it.

It also shouldn't be surprising that they didn't give you the other customer's information to pass on the game to them. It's none of your business to complete their transaction, or to try and fix their screw up. No (sane) retailer would give you another customer's information.

Furthermore, if you spent an hour on the phone with CS, you're doing it wrong. I have no idea what in that conversation could have taken you an hour unless you were sitting on hold for 45 minutes.

Otherwise, welcome to the club. Things with Hastings either go great or they go really wrong.

Because speaking of which, I got a giant padded mailer today with some LEGO sets in them. They were the cardboard box LEGO sets. The prices were so cheap I thought they'd make great gifts for the holiday charity collection at the local fire station. (It used to be Toys for Tots but they've got it named something else now.) Instead of grabbing a box, some dimwitted associate shoved three sets into a padded mailer and shipped it out like that. The end result? One box was beat to shit because padded mailers don't provide protection when they're overstuffed and the item is somewhat fragile like the thin cardboard boxes LEGOs come in. I think the fire station will accept the toy despite the mangled box, but if these were for collecting purposes or something, I'd tell Hastings to shove that set back up their ass and refund me the money because they were too cheap and too stupid to spring for a cardboard box.

Dude. I've never had to return a game to GoHastings, and I probably would have been able to "rectify" the problem in the time it took you to write that post.

You should consider returning the game to familiarize with the process. It could save you some hassle if you encounter a similar problem.

Talk about overreacting. They let you keep the game, refunded your money, and offered to let you re-order at the sale price.

And you're still upset. GH return policy is spelled out completely on their website. It is what it is. You should know the policy of whatever business you are using before purchasing from them and order accordingly. Instead, you do no research and get all huffy and puffy when their policy doesn't match the policy of other businesses?

The other day I had to return 9 CDs for various reasons. I spent 2 minutes on hold, 2 minutes talking to the CSR agent. She very nicely told me to include the original invoice for each CD and write the reason for return on there. My prepaid label was waiting for me in my email when I got off the phone. I grabbed a spare box from some other random order, wrote the reason for return one each invoice, slapped the label on, and sent it off.
blah blah blah
You sound like a whiny little bitch, crying over one dollar, they gave you a refund, free game and yet you sound like they have fucked you over somehow. They made a mistake fixed it and then some but yet still make a fuss like your entitled to something more.

wait he got to keep the game and got the refund so basically he's complaining that he got dw6 for free at gamestop + some gamestop credit

Got 5 books in the mail today that I caved in for with the $10 off $40. All of them arrived fine. No poly bags. Two bubble mailers. And finally... two special BOXES! These boxes were pretty thin - they could hold 1 or 2 books depending on the thickness of said books. They're basically designed like envelopes with a flap on one of the broad sides you cut open then find the book sitting in the internal pocket. I don't know if anyone else has received these yet but they're an awesome option for graphic novel sized books. I wonder if they're part of the shipping material for actual floppy comic books since they've started selling those online, and you definitely can't ship unbagged-and-unboarded single issue comic books in bubble mailers or poly bags.

My success with gohastings has been hit or miss as to quality of the product or if they even send you the right thing. I got a pretty crappy response from their CS rep about a return, it was kind of a 'take it or leave it' attitude. Sounds like more people are having success with them now than in the past though.

What a generic post. Everyone's experience is hit or miss considering the quality of their used products is completely up in the air and you never know what type of person the previous owner was or how well they cared for their possessions. That and the response you got from their CS rep is their policy. They don't offer exchanges. You either keep it and deal with it or you return it.
