No, unless the team member at Target is willing to lose their job over it. And even then.......I don't think so. I work electronics, saw the same thing in my store, presumed (rightfully, I think) that it was part of the morning team that doesn't know Nintendo releases don't follow the usual 'comes out on Tuesday' release date schedule and put it out there. I did my job and took it down, covering the price sticker because I didn't want a perspective guest (what we call them) coming in and asking/demanding to purchase it. The computer won't let us sell it anyway so it'd all just be a big hubub and we don't want that so..

Probably going to get the first one on Friday though. I wish I didn't want a failing, dying console so much for a slightly updated, HDR enhanced (pretty much only) rerelease but I do.

Gonna be interesting trying to forgo the COD/Battlefield/Killzone shooter phase for me this Nov. but the only one I really need is Halo and hopefully, the console will be kinect-less and 399 or below by then (probably wishful thinking but one can dream, right?)

 
I got antsy and bought an 8 GB Wii U off of Craigslist for $235 (with NSMBWU and Skyward Sword!!). Couldn't pass up that bargain, although now I'm kinda bummed that I don't get to unbox the Zelda bundle. I originally wrote off the Wii U, and I realize now I was off base. My daughter and I have already spent hours on just the Donkey Kong levels of Nintendo Land.

Man, I can't count the number of hours I sunk into that. Mario Chase is amazing too if you have 5 people together for it. Anyone who's counting the Wii U out is forgetting the PS3 and 360's numbers in their first year, the Wii U is behind, but not too badly, and that's considering the state the economy is currently in. I'd be surprised if it doesn't top at least 5 million by November worldwide.

They were in the case with a 299 price tag, I didn't ask because I was in a hurry but I assume that I could purchase one if I wanted to.

 
I really wish the console was $200.  I'd definitely bite at that price.  I'm holding strong for now even though the critical mass of games is almost there for me... even though they are mostly games I've played to death.

You realize that's a bit of a ridiculous request at this point in time, right? Consoles that have been on the market for 8 years are just now rolling around to the $200 price point.

I don't know - the PS3/360 are almost as powerful as the WiiU and in a few weeks a $300 WiiU is going to look way overpriced next to a $400 PS4. Maybe $230-$250 is a good price point? I guess you could argue it is $250 now with a $50 pack-in but it still feels overpriced. They aren't really delivering anything new other than the controller screen (which I'm not sold on at all) to justify the price. The exclusives look like fun but we've all pretty much played them to death at this point in some form or another.

There have been only 2 other Pikmin games in 10 years and no one has really been close to the formula. Wonderful 101, good or bad, is pretty much one of kind right now. The pad is very debatable as useful I agree but, again, it is something that you don't get anywhere else. I think the Wii U will end up being kinda niche like the Gamecube but if you want the exclusives, many of which will be new and unique, it's the only way.

IMHO spec doesn't equal to fun level.
Sold my ps3 n exbox 360. Havent touched in 8 months or so....

Ordered wii u zelda bubdle.
 
It's hard to convince anyone if you don't enjoy Nintendo titles.

Truth is the Wii had a lot of variety even with the graphics lacking when it came to Nintendo titles.

However, third party wise there wasn't much to brag about. It didn't help when House of the Dead Overkill and the RE on rail shooters got PS3 HD ports. So far we only have Lego City, ZombiU and Wonderful 101. If your not buying a Wii U for Nintendo titles chances are you'll always be set up for disappointment. Then again It's not fair to remove the Sony exclusives from PS3 and MS from 360 (especially the 360, man that system would be a wasteland without the MS exclusives.)

Pikmin 3 would probably be my first purchase - but I've played the first 2 a lot. I own them both on Gamecube (my favorite console from that gen) and played through them again on the Wii (multiple times). I doubt Pikmin 3 is that much different but it does look like fun. Same thing can be said for most of the Nintendo IP like Mario 3D, NSMB, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Zelda, etc. Great games but nothing new.

I agree but Nintendo needs to sell consoles, not try to charge a premium for fun.

 
So... I'm picking this up tomorrow, but I'm starting to get paranoid about the Wii U Game Pad getting damaged / dropped, etc... I don't think I would be normally, but since this is a limited edition gamepad I wouldn't want it to get scratched or broken. My wife is a bit of a drop-o-holic (probably dropped her iphone a dozen times) and I wouldn't put it past myself to drop it either.

Should I get the Nerf Armor? I haven't had a Wii U up to this point so I don't really know what the best way to go is. I imagine that the Nerf Armor isn't going to look very good on the black / gold game pad...

Hori Screen Protector yea / nea?

I'm getting the Skinomi full protector for the gamepad. It's clear so I can still see the design and will provide scratch resistance.

Eh, the problem is that some people are way too focused on specs. Like you can buy the ultra slim PS3 for $199, which the Wii U is comparable to (though much more powerful). So if we assume the MSRP for that is fair (lets not argue about how the bundles are a better deal, because that isn't the point), then the Wii U is probably a $199 system too. This is where most people stop and act like that $100 dollar difference in price is Nintendo over charging. However, the Wii U uses that gamepad, which isn't exactly a cheap piece of tech. Nintendo is selling placement ones for $150, so that explains the missing $100 dollars easy. However, Nintendo also threw in the charging cradle, normal cradle (something they were selling for $20 separately and something Sony has tried to sell for a similar price), 1 game (Zombi U / LoZ / Nintendoland) and yet people still call it over priced / asking for a premium.

Yes it's weak, but it's not like the price was absurdly high like the 3DS at launch.

I broke down and got a 32 GB Wii U off Craigslist for $200 today, came with the box and Nintendoland plus a Wii Mote Plus with nunchuck and Animal Crossing Wii.  I'll probably leave the Zelda one boxed.

 
I'm really paranoid that is why I'm getting the Wii U. I do not like how the PS4 and X1's connectivity to social media networks and how Microsoft willing gave up people info to the NSA. Even my next PC will run on Linux because the German government said aren't using windows 8 because it has a back door for the NSA.

I 100% recommend the Hori Screen Protector and PDPs gamepad silicone cover. With the Hori screen protector, make sure you're getting the one that's just a screen protector. Hori has another one that comes with an extra stylus, but the screen protector on that one is of lesser quality.

The only thing about the PDP silicone cover is that it covers up the Zelda design. Seems like it would defeat the purpose? Or does it even matter? Does the PDP silicone cover leave scratches or anything? Also, would it protect it at all if the game pad dropped to the ground?

I guess if you don't want to cover up the Zelda design you can go with the a clear cover that's offered by other companies. For me, I have the cover on so I don't have to worry about fingerprints, dirty hands from other people, and the extra comfort from the rubber cover. It won't protect the gamepad from a drop though.

 
I just came from my local Walmart and they has them on display and on the floor. I picked one but when I went to pay It didn't appear in their system so I couldn't buy it. I guess a few more hours wont kill me.

Can you guys provide a link to the "best" wii u controller protector.  I tried looking for the Skinomi full protector on Amazon but there are alot of different choices.  I want to buy one that will protect it but still feel nice in my hands.  I was going to go NERF...

 
Can I buy this system and simply keep the Wii U pad, take my old Wii U pad and trade it in? Are the downloaded titles stored in the wii u pad or in the system itself?

Basically trying to get that wii u pad as cheap as possible.

It can be annoying to place on for those inexperience with wet application skin/screen protector but I much prefer them over dry.

And the answer is yes you can sync the new pad with an old wii u. And you should since there is absolutely no way to transfer data from wii u to wii u. Keep your current system and sell the new system and old pad


And a good economy case is te nerf armor. Had it almost a year now. Screen protector is 10 bucks for a wii u branded one and ones with extra stylus (3 or 4) I think.

Basically ill trade in the wii u once it crosses into the $200 mark at gamestop with either a coupon or promo. Making the Wii u and zelda code about $100. I can live with that.
