The Mystery Limo Wrestling Thread

About 10 years back, I was working security at the Silverdome. When the Minnesota Vikings players walked out of the locker room, one of them looked at me and said "DAMN! We should get you a uniform!" I can't believe the Minnesota Vikings would have let me play that day if I went and put some pads on. What a missed opportunity.

Not stroking my ego, just don't like being called a liar.

Anyways, anything good on SD tonight? How long is the Undertaker supposed to be out for?

Ask Alicia Foxx, I'm sure she knows.

*edit* I tried to be vague and not give details or spoilers, but I will tag the post per the request of the other readers.

Watched tonight's Smackdown this morning thanks to the internet. Was a pretty good card. We got the final 2 MITB guys, and they really put over Swagger as a threat. Funny they couldn't do that when he still had the belt. Christian is getting a good build for the MITB match too.

Yeah, I try to avoid spoilers so I can watch it Friday mornings (again, thanks internet!) since I've been off work on Fridays lately.

Although, considering some people won't watch it til tonight or this weekend, you should spoiler tag your post.

BTW, love the sig and avatar. You know it.

Same here. Zack Ryder is the shit.

Impact was pretty damn entertaining, albeit strangely booked. I just finished watching it a short time ago.

Styles vs. Kazarian was good while it lasted. It was a good, fast paced match with lots of counters, and AJ came off more as a face. The finish sucked, but it made sense considering it helped set up the match for the PPV.

Angelina Love vs. Daffney was basically a squash. It's a shame that they aren't doing more with Daffney. She deserves better. I'm not saying that since she lost this week, but she just deserves better in general. And, while Angelina is an attractive woman, that shot of her in the locker room was kind of gross. She appears to be borderline anorexic. Not sure what the deal is with the career stip. I guess they're using it to build up Madison, but there was no reason for Angelina to put her career on the line. The way things were worded made it seem like a new BP member might interfere in the match.

You know, Brother Ray is so much of a dick that he's actually gotten me to care about Jesse Neal. I'm not sure where they're going with the match on Sunday, though. There would be no sense whatsoever in breaking up Team 3D, but having Devon simply turn on Jesse Neal would mean that the whole storyline was a huge waste of time.

Joe vs. RVD was a really good 10 minute match, but I'm not sure why they gave away their first meeting on free TV. And, of course, Joe has no match on the PPV. Not that there's any room left on the card, but he should have been a priority. It seems like one week they're booking him well, and the next, they don't know what to do with him.

Notice a trend of me being entertained by the wrestling but befuddled by the booking? I guess that's how it's always been with TNA. In keeping with TNA tradition, they had another gimmick match with very little reason behind it. The point was apparently to make known Douglas Williams' fear of heights. Okay then. So, they built the X Division title match by having Williams lose to one of the biggest jobbers in TNA, and Kendrick didn't even appear. Makes sense.

Speaking of the Bucks/Generation Me, why do they even bother with TNA? I guess, theoretically, they get more TV exposure than they would with ROH, but they're barely ever on TV so that's a moot point. Plus they are probably making a lot less money than they were on the indies, assuming they are paid per appearance, which is likely. They deserve better.

The 6 man was pretty nifty. Didn't do much for the Morgan/Hernandez storyline, but it did help build the Guns/BM feud. The Guns were #1 contenders for a long time but didn't wrestle on TV for about 2 months up until a few weeks ago. They lost last night, so I hope that means they'll take the belts on Sunday. Sadly, while I'd love to see them as champs, TNA has waited so long to give them the belts that it won't mean nearly as much as it would have a couple years ago.

Flair was even crazier than usual last night. That exchange was probably the weakest of the Flair/Lethal feud, which has been full of awesome promos. My guess is that Flair gets his first win in 2 years via interference from somebody involved in the "Fortune" angle (though I'm not convinced that stable will ever materialize).

The main event... I don't know. They've been starting their main events lately with 10 minutes or less left in the show, which is stupid. This one went 3 whole minutes. Yippee. It showed that Jeff could apparently trust Anderson, but that's about it.

So yes, it was an entertaining show, but it was kind of all over the place. The PPV looks good on paper, but you know how that goes.

In terms of MitB, it's like they've never really thought through what it means to elevate a mid-carder. Edge was primed, so that wasn't an issue, and RVD was basically there, too. Swagger suffered from the same issues that plagued Punks' first run, which is that they had a belt, but didn't receive a real 'push' with it.

In some ways, I get it. Just because a guy 'steals' the belt, doesn't make him different, he's still the same guy that was (in Swagger's case) doing nothing but jobbing for 6 months beforehand. The problem is, you need to make it look like they can at least hang with main-eventers, or it's fairly useless. With both Swagger and Punk (1st time) it came off like they were handed a belt, and received no backing whatsoever. You don't want too many fluke champions, so they need to commit to guys that get the belt WHILE they have the belt. Weirdly, both Swagger and Punk got real pushes after they lost, which seems completely counterintuitive. Then again, even though he wasn't a MitB winner, they did the same thing with Sheamus, so that just seems to be a theme.

It's as if they put a belt on someone, assume it does the work itself, and washes their hands of the person for a few months. Makes no sense.

I don't follow actual sports whatsoever, but my FB was ablaze with news of this LeBron fellow the other night. I'm assuming he pulled a similar mega-heel turn?

My roommates didn't understand how the media could be mad at Lebron for what he did last night.

So I played that video a few hours ago.

It all makes sense to then now.

Hogan = Lebron
Nash = Bosh
Hall = Wade

I wish LeBron had done an actual pro-wrestling style heel interview on TV last night. He should've ripped off his shirt to reveal a Miami jersey and talked about how Cleveland didn't deserve him. I would've died.

If he would have done that people wouldn't be shitting on him as hard as they are right now. They would be calling him the realest mother fucker in the league and a straight up pimp.

Brak got me to watch some of TNA last night and I still hate most of the changes that they made. I haven't watched anything TNA has done since Hogan showed up and it reminded me why I quit watching.

Yes, especially if he ended by doing his famous powder toss thing, but flipping off Cleveland during it.

The fact that they filmed the whole thing in Connecticut made me think that WWE would be producing "The Decision"

I loved the comedy of seeing Swagger ankle lock Rey from the trainer's room to every other major part of the building while Rey fights back like a valiant babyface by throwing shit like Gatorade containers and cookie sheets in his general direction. Also, Swagger's "EVERYBODY MOVE" was TV movie bank robber-a-riffic.

It's a shame he got his balls cut off by Kane and was left crying by the end of the show, because until then, they did a decent job making him seem like a killer. Oh, and Cody checking himself out in his titantron mirror was great. Would have made more sense if the surface had some reflection on it though.

Quotes -
Teddy - Drew, what are you doing out here? Last time I saw you, you were being deported, dawg.
Drew - Two weeks ago, my visa expired, but I’m here now and all my citizenship issues have been resolved. BUT, what hasn’t been resolved is the relationship between you and I., Mr. Long.
Teddy - So it’s Mr. Long now?
Drew - Yes sir. On my flight back home, I realized that I have wronged you in so many ways. And I know it’s not too late - it’s never too late to say… I’m sorry.
Teddy - Well Drew, it’s never too early to say YOU’RE A LIAR, PLAYA. It’s obvious what’s going on, you used to have Mr. McMahon in your back pocket, but now that he’s gone, there will be no more special privileges for ya. For the first time, you’re gonna be on the same playing field as everyone else on the roster.
Drew - I c uoldn’t agree with ya more. But I didn’t just come out to apologize, I also came out here to let you know that I am nominating you for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011! WrestleMania 27 is gonna be a huge night for Atlanta, Mr. Long. Imagine it, sir, receiving your HoF ring in your hometown, while Drew McIntyre main events as the World Heavyweight Champion!
Teddy - Well, one thing ya got right - WM 27 will be a big week in HOTLANTA! And ya know what, I would love nothing more than to be inducted in the HoF, and yes, you could be world champion, bit the only way that could happen is If you win the SD MITB match. And honestly, I think that if you were in it, you could win.
Drew - Thank you very much, Mr. Long.
Teddy - There’s one little thing I’d like for you to do for me. It’s to get down on ya knees and beg for it!
Drew - You can’t be serious!
Teddy - You seem like you got a problem with it. Here’s how it’s done (clip airs of Teddy being forced to beg in front of Drew) If you wanna be in the match, then get down on ya knees playa! Come on, Drew. It’s all right, playa. Now, repeat after me. I want you to say I am the most handsome.
Drew - You’re the most handsome.
Teddy - Devonaire.
Drew - Devonaire.
Teddy - Sharp-dressed, high class, and intelligent.
Drew - Sharp-Dressed and intelligent.
Teddy - You left out high class.
Drew - High slass.
Teddy - It is an honor to have Teddy Long as your boss.
Drew - I’m so honored to have Teddy Long as my boss. So tell me I’m in the MITB match now!
Teddy - Not by a long shot, playa! If you want to be In, you’ve got to earn it by beating a man you don’t have much luck with - Kofi Kingston!
(to Vickie)Striker - Hi cougar, hi baby!
Swagger - EVERYBODY OUT! (puts Rey In the ankle lock and drags him around the arena)
Striker - MATT HARDY IS THE INNOVATOR OF THE LADDER MATCH!
(after Christian flips Matt over the top rope)Striker - A little Papa Shango voodoo from Christian - no one saw that coming!
Striker - Drew had to sit in the Embassy for TWO HOURS to fill out paperwork to get back here in time for MITB.
Striker - If you want to know what it takes to be a superstar, look at the Sinister Scotsman!
Striker - Vicious aggression from Drew McIntyre.
Del Rio - stuffing instead of potatoes of a superior education - Alberto Del Rio.
Luke - Last week, you saw a side of the SES you weren’t supposed to see. And it’s due to one person - Serena, if you have a shred of dignity left, get out here right now!
Serena - This has been the hardest week of my life. Punk, you mean more to me than just my leader. You… are everything to me. YOU ARE MY WORLD. Last week, I made a terrible mistake. When I allowed myself to get drunk. And I made a mistake when I defied you. You have to know why I did what I did - I did it to save and protect you. Kane is a monster. HE’S CRAZY, HE’S OUT OF CONTROL. If I hadn’t saved you, I don’t know what would have happened to you. I HAD TO PUT A STOP TO THAT. Punk, please. Please, please forgive me.
Luke - YOU’RE THE MOST PATHETIC PERSON I’VE EVER SEEN. HE’S NOT GONNA FORGIVE YOU. IT MAKES ME SICK TO THINK THAT I EVER CONSIDERED YOU A SISTER. WHEN WE FOUND YOU IN THAT BAR, I WANTED TO KICK YOU OUT OF THE SES, BUT IT’S NOT UP TO ME. It’s up to Punk. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SET AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL WOMEN, BUT YOU RUINED IT.
Serena - I’m sorry - how many times can I possibly say it?
Luke - If you’re sorry, you’ll leave the SES forever.
Punk - The only good thing you’ve said so far is that it’s not your decision, it’s mine! And I forgive her.
Serena - Punk, I can never explain what you’ve done for me. But please, I promise, I promise, I will never fail you again.
Punk - You’d better not.
Striker - Sometimes forgiveness is right where you fell.
Grisham - Digital mirror for Cody Rhodes.
Grisham - The ankle lock came from amateur wrestling.

Add in a little Lohan by having "fuck u" in the Miami Heat colors on his fingernails too.

Cody is just so damn goofy that the entrance works for me. I love the Zoolander blue steel look and saying "dashing" into the mirror before walking off.

I dig it. I think the "Dashing" character is one of the more entertaining WWE characters.

On a related SmackDown note, I dig the Gate Crashers (Tramp Stamp and other-guy-whom-once-blew-Edge). Archer/Hoyt has perfected his execution of the Scoop Reverse DDT--and I usually hate that move. Hawkins is slowly coming into his own as a WWE character. I expect decent-sized things from him in the future.

I turned to SD and saw that entrance...and it was so....weird

It works for him...but that music seems a bit too soft I think. But that mirror part was like "whoa"

Watt White - Smoke and Mirrors is the title for the new theme. Same guy who does Zack Ryders. I think they'll do some editing on it - at least have Cody say something at the beginning.

DASSSHHHHINNNNNGGGGGGG...CodyRhodes..Music starts

Good entrance though, almost as good as Morrison's slowmo entrance.

Bosh's faces at the camera totally reminds of when Hall would get super close to the screen.

They're doing an outdoor impact somewhere? I love the outdoor shows, whether it was Wrestlemania at Ceaser's, the Spring Break Nitro's, or even the tribute to the troops, the atmosphere is always awesome.

I dunno but when I see...
