The NHL 2007 Playoffs Thread - 2007 Stanley Cup Champions: Anaheim Ducks

It's going to be amazing if the Wings can win this series. I don't even have time to come in here and post "Let's see if they can hold a 1 goal lead for 15 minutes" before they've blown it.

Blame the refs for that last goal, that was fucking ridiculous.

CBC and VS are carrying the game tonight. I just assumed most people got the Canadian channel, you may want to investigate!

Well, had the refs actually followed the stated rules of the NHL, that game would never have gone into overtime.

You can't push a goalie into the net with the puck. It's in the rulebook--Rule 78j--"In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck after making a stop, the goal will be disallowed. If applicable, appropriate penalties will be assessed. In the event that the puck is under a player in or around the crease area (deliberately or otherwise), a goal cannot be scored by pushing this player together with the puck into the goal. If applicable, the appropriate penalties will be assessed, including a penalty shot if deemed to be covered in the crease deliberately (see Rule 55(c) -- Falling on Puck)."

That goal was BS, and if I was Babcock, I'd sit down at the post-game press conference, pull out the rulebook, read the rule clearly, close the rule book, and get up and walk out.

That's what I thought too... looked screwy to me. My friend that doesn't even follow hockey was asking about that one. Then he said he regrets not playing hockey after he saw (was it Lebda?) punch a Duck right in the face and not get called for a penalty in OT.

Thats one thing the Wings organization hasn't done since Bowman was coach. Babcock doesn't ever say anything controversial, ever.

Wings were back on their heals the entire overtime. Missing Kronwall & Schnieder really showed last night towards the end. Lidstrom and Chelios are playing a ton.

Oh and it also pisses my off the Wings aren't taking advantage of opprotunities to really hit someone coming from behind the net or gliding through the nuetral zone. The Ducks aren't holding back of going after Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

Oh damn! Another great win Sens! Only one more to go!

VipFREAK... you're a Sens fairweather fan... eat a D.

I'm still holding hope for a glorious comeback.

Funny... since I've been following them for at least half the season when I wasn't watching the Sharks.

I can't help it if your team can't take out the #4 seed.

While dissappointing... they did what I said they'd do. Get to where they got last season, like I said I never expected them to go all the way, but everyone else here did.

I'd also like to hate on the VS announcers.... fairweather fans & the VS announcers are not what the NHL needs right now.

Sabres are toast.

The only question left is will Alfredsson still get hated on if the Sens lose the cup?

Man... just saw highlights of the game. I regret not being able to see it when it was on. :(

Good News! Kuntz has a broken hand. Now if that could happen to the rest of the Ducks...

Well that's 1 and 1 then. Not that Anaheim broke Schneider though.

I remember back in college how my friends would be such wagon riders during the NHL playoffs. While my team has only made it to the finals once in its 30+ year history and got swept by Detroit. I love the playoffs and it seems like forever since my team has made it.

Anyway, Ottawa looks like they will make it into the finals, but how close have the last two games been, a lucky bounce here or there and Buffalo could also have won those games. I have a feeling that the Ducks will meet them in the final. The series with Detroit has turned a bit in their favor now that it heads back to Anaheim.

Hooray for the Wings putting together a solid first period in Anaheim... can't be worse than the city's other playoff team tonight.

MOTHERfuckING DUCKS.

What Pronger and Rob Neidermayer just did to Holmstrom was fucking dirty. Two players checking a guy's head into the boards at the same time is fuckING BULLSHIT.

Neidermayer's gone for the game, though Pronger should have been - hell, they both should have been for that hit. The series has been getting more and more physical as it's been going on, but that just crossed the line.

I hope Holmstrom's okay. He was conscious, but he had a nasty gash visible. Let's hope there wasn't a concussion... :whistle2:?

They should both be gone... If that wasn't intent I don't know what is. Lame...

Soooo... does that mean the Wings are screwed for the series if Homstrom is that important? At least they got this game in control, for now...

I don't think the Wings are screwed if Holmstrom's gone, though I can't say for sure. If Bertuzzi stepped up to take over some of Holmstrom's role in front of the net, we'd probably do just fine; even if that wasn't the case, we've survived injuries before and I'd hope we'd be able to do it again.

The Ducks are falling apart - the five minute major for the hit just ended, and now somebody (Pronger?) got called for roughing. Here's hoping this doesn't mean more cheap hits...

Holmstrom back in the game is nice to see. Man, that guy really does make a HUGE difference, since he's come back the Wings are 4-1, probably 5-1 barring an Earthquake opening a hole in Anaheim and swallowing all the Wings.

I hope this momentum carries over into game 4.

Man the Sabres can't catch a break. I know It's been so long, but the ten win Senators (I'll never forget it. Alexander Daigle rookie card anyone?! Or how about Radik Bonk! LOL!) are putting on a show compared to those golden years ;) Looks like the Sabres are still going to be cupless.

I'm pulling for the Senators to win the Stanley Cup. They are really hungry this year.

Great game by the Wings tonight. Dom played fantastic again. That hit on Homer was pretty shitty, but he came back as the tough bastard almost always does.

The Ducks looks lost and frusturated. I love it.

Hopefully that stick to Getzlaf wasn't serious. Never like to see a guy take a stick in the eye.

I didn't watch the 3rd period. I'm glad Holmstrom made it back. Will he miss the next game, do you think? I never did hear what his status was after that fucking dirty hit. Pronger should have thrown out, too.:bomb:

What a trooper. 2 goals, 1 assist and 13 stitches? Wow. And no concussion?! What a machine! The only thing that would have made his even better would have been a fight.

What do you guys think--suspend Pronger for the hit? It looked on the edge to me, but if I were the league I'd suspend him just to get a message across.

Is there any way to stream the Wings games online? I don't get Versus, and since CBC hasn't been broadcasting the games I've had to resort to the radio or watching the games elsewhere. Going somewhere Thursday night won't be an option, so I'd really like to watch the game at home if possible.
I'm shocked he actually got suspended.

thatstoobad~ Check out some thing called sopcast http://www.myp2p.eu/NHL.htm
Thanks.

I checked CBC's site, and I guess that even though they didn't show game 3, game 4 will be on CBC. Game 5 will be be on NBC Sunday afternoon, and game 6 will be on CBC if necessary. So as long as this series doesn't go seven games (and I'm guessing it won't), I should be good for the rest of the playoffs.
This just in--Pronger has been suspended for one game because of the dirty hit on Holmstrom.

Eat it, Ducks.
That is awesome. I really hope Detroit takes advantage and sends this series back home up 3-1.
