The NHL 2007 Playoffs Thread - 2007 Stanley Cup Champions: Anaheim Ducks
Alright Sens! Great job!
Amen. After all these years, and after that season where they only won what, 11 games? lmao. Yeah they have came a long way, and I hope they make it to the cup even over the Rangers, cause honestly that team deserves a cup more then anyone else. Canada hasn't seen the cup in a long time either.

Man, that DET/SJ game was ugly. I'm pulling for the Sharks, but what a flub by Nabby, who's been very solid up to that point. They seemed to unravel a bit from then on. Hopefully they can get back on track.

And congrats, Sens fans - I like any team that knocks out the Devils.
I'm sorry, I just am used to Holland/Redmond after all these years.
It's actually Daniels and Redmond. Redmond is great because he tells it like it is--he'll rip on the refs and any players when he sees fit, unlike the league shills that do the NBC and VS games.

REALLY sucks about Schneider, hopefully Lebda can come in play well. Regardless of who is in, I don't see them having much chance against the Ducks, unfortunately.

Well... Sharks do deserve a cup too but after a game like the last one. They deserve to lose. Sens on the other hand are just on fire.

edit: Darn... I applaud the Rangers for their effort though.

edit cont: I just realized what sucks about this round ending... less hockey on during the week.

Yeap Rangers lost and the Sharks will be next. Interesting Sabres versus Senators, should be a wild one considering both teams want a cup BAD.

And yet both will be very disappointed when neither team gets the cup this year. Should be an interesting series still, I'm liking the Senators right now.

Rangers really blew this series. If they could have finished the job during game 5 in Buffalo, I think they would have one the series. The last minute tie and losing in overtime had to be when the series turned in Buffalo's favor. Now the Sabres are riding on a high and the next series should be a classic. I think Sabres will win it in 7 games. I think my dream final right now would be Sabres and Red Wings. Hasek playing against the team he became an NHL star with.

I know, that does suck. I was hoping some of these series would last a little longer.
Rangers really blew this series.
Blew...? uh... no... did better than they expected? sure. It was more of Buffalo choking but then snapped out of it. NY never really had a chance.

Oops, I fudged. Was tired

And yeah, it sucks about Schneider.

I don't want to jinx anything but I have a feeling the sharks won't be playing hockey for a while after tonight....unless of course they play nhl 2k7 or something.

Schneider is big loss thats for sure. They are really going to miss him on the PK/PP. He just makes so many smart decisions with the puck. I sure hope they resign him this Summer.

Lilja has played far better than I've ever expected him to this playoff year. Also as its said many times Chelios even at his age continues to eat up important minutes. Hopefully Lebda is back in tonight.

I think Lilja has had a great post-season. It's going to be a hell of a game tonight, we all know who my pick is. If Detroit doesn't wrap it up tonight I think the Sharks will take the series... either way I want the team that wins this series to just punish the Ducks.

I still haven't forgiven Lilja for his piss-poor play last year against Edmonton. Maybe, just maybe I will after this year... if Detroit hoists the cup that is.
Why the fuck isn't this game on TV here? Seriously... what the hell?
wow, thats brutal. no vs or fsn? its on both out here. well you wouldnt want to watch anyway, its not going good.
wow, thats brutal. no vs or fsn? its on both out here. well you wouldnt want to watch anyway, its not going good.
I stayed out at my girlfriend's tonight, and since she doesn't watch much tv except retarded sitcoms, she doesn't bother to pay for more than the basic dozen or so channels. Yet, for some reason she does get the VS channel. Well, the awesome thing about that is at the last minute some fucking asshole decided to put the game on FSN, so the game is not being show in this market on VS.

The only remotely good thing about this is that it's game 6 of the 2nd round, I will make sure to be home for all future games.

Actually, I probably would've driven home had my truck been here, but I decided to get really, really drunk saturday night and my girlfriend drove me home with her... so no game 6 for me. :bomb:

Pisses me off that the retarded canadian channel doesn't have the game on either. Seriously, it's freakin' hockey, who cares if neither team is from Canada...

At least you're not in Cleveland... only time I get to watch hockey here now is when the games are on NBC... and they don't get preempted by the Indians. So yeah, I've watched one Wings game this year. Or the last half of the last period of the last game anyway.

I'm not sure how to handle the Wings getting to the conference finals. They haven't showed promise in the playoffs in years.
\\:D/ YESSSSSS! Detroit came on strong at the right time, next stop on the revenge tour: Anaheim.
It's almost sad to think that I hate San Jose as a result of a first-round playoff series 13 years ago. But I do.
It's almost sad to think that I hate San Jose as a result of a first-round playoff series 13 years ago. But I do.
That was part of the revenge! Although, we did get them back the following year sweeping San Jose out of the playoffs. Out-scoring San Jose 24-6 in the series

Detroit was PISSED!

well theres not much you can do when hasek has a game that solid. we had plenty of chances, more shots on goal, but he stopped all of them. the wings got two sloppy goals early and the sharks just couldnt get past hasek, it was a very mild game, i was expecting a much more physical game. but that seemed to run out 10 minutes into the first period.

theres really only 2 things you need to look at to know why the sharks lost. first patrick marleau, the captain, had 0 points this series, which is not like him at all, i wonder if Joe is going to wear the C next year. and the sharks power play, 22.4% in the regular season and only 7.5% in the post season.

at least we have a nice young team and im 100% confident well be barking at detroits door next year in the post season too, so kudos detroit and my you slaughter anaheim into humiliation.

Was Holmstrom really the difference in that series? After he came back Detroit didn't lose...

I definitely think San Jose will be back next year, hopefully Detroit can avoid them until the conference finals next time. Furthermore, I hope all the injuries don't catch up with the Wings against Anaheim.

Detroit has some crazy momentum right now, they need to turn that into a 2-0 series lead against the Ducks.

Anaheim may have won the series 4-1, but a lof those games were really close, and the goal that ended the series was really crappy.

Could we finally see the Detroit-Ottawa Cup Finals that so many people were predicting for the past few years? I think so.

Wings in 6
Senators in 6

I'm going for the Senators, and it's more then just because Buffalo beat the Rangers :) Should be an interesting cup this year.

Well the Dominator put on a show tonight, with a little help from Captain Nick. The defense played very, very well. Sure hope they can keep it up and continue getting that good back checking from the forwards. Scott Niedermayer is a nightmare to cover with his almost rover style of play. All three Norris candidates will be on the ice. Thats pretty sweet.

Both conference finals series should be very entertaining.

Good article on Homer over at NHL.com http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=303174

"I remember this one pretty raw looking rookie showing up at training camp wearing No. 96," Bowman said, kind of laughing at the thought of a rookie even picking his own number. "I asked; 'What's with the number?' He said; 'It's for the year that I came to the United States.' I remember telling him; 'Why don't you take '98 for the year you go back to Europe?' "
I tell you who I hate is the guy who covers the Wings on AM radio. He's the most annoying PBP guy ever.
Dude, don't speak ill of Ken Cal and his girlish "SCORREEE" squeal whenever someone puts one in. Don't mock his terrible commentary or dull personality. Obviously this is one of those guys that sucks so bad that they rule.

THAT'S what I'm talking about  That stupid SCOOOOOREEEEEEE thing he does.
At least the Wings struck first tonight, that's better than I expected. Still have nightmares of Giguere from 2003.
I hear that. He just always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Even tonight the Wings scored two garbage goals, but they held up. Great start by the home team.

I was watching the highlights from VS. and well. I don't think there's ANY team every that I've absolutely hated more. Even those Asshole Oilers don't compare. It's literally a whole fucking team of assholes. The Wings better fuck them up the whole fucking series.

Definitely wasn't the Wings best game, but they got the win anyway. Now to come out in game 2 with all the intensity they lacked for most of game 1, and head back to Cali up 2-0. That would be tremendous.

Yeah, the Wings looked pretty bad at times, but still got the win. They took too many penalties. It appears that it will be a physical series, so that should be interesting. Game #2 should be good....a nice 2-0 lead would be great. I applaude the NHL for putting the West Coast games on at 9:00pm EST also....makes for less of a late night during the week....no more 1:00am finishes.

Unless we get some serious OT... which I wouldn't mind seeing at some point, when Detroit is ahead 2 games or more in the series. My heart has pretty much recovered from previous Wings' OT games.

Same here TC... same here.

This is still a series and I still have faith the Sabres can pull through. Damn that bouncy ass wild puck at the end.
