The NHL 2007 Playoffs Thread - 2007 Stanley Cup Champions: Anaheim Ducks
The network's Saturday-night coverage of the NHL Stanley Cup finals between Anaheim and Ottawa equaled NBC's lowest rating ever—1.1—for a prime-time broadcast.
 Sucks....
I'll preface this by saying I'm not really a hockey fan, though I do like the Avs and the Ducks (back when they had Selanne and Kariya): What makes them "lucky" by winning games by only one goal each time? Can't it be seen as just there being great parity between the teams? They went into a game missing their best player on the road and came away with the win.

Thanks in advance for the explanation. (BTW, what's the news on the rating for NHL on NBC the past few games?)
Because you are not a hockey fan, you may not see all the lucky bounces they've got and questionable calls that have gone in their favor. There were plenty of instances against Detroit that they got so lucky, it made me sick.

The goal they got despite pushing Hasek into the net. They won that game in OT.
The late game no call where the Ducks very clearly had too many men on the ice, but the refs didn't see... the Ducks scored shortly after. They won by 1.
The strange bounce off Lidstrom's stick to tie game 5 in the final minute. They won in OT.
The list goes on...

I'm just glad Ottawa didn't win the Cup. They're such a dirty bunch of players. I've always hated them, so I'm glad Anaheim won it.

Yeah, and Alfredsson shooting the puck at Niedermayer at the end of the period wasn't? fuck that. Who cares if the Ducks are one of the dirtiest teams? I'm a Flyers fan, so I get to see Ottawa's dirtiness all year. Ottawa is easily as dirty. Just look at the fact that one of the team leaders of Ottawa, who shouldn't be doing things like shooting the puck at the other team's player's face, doing that. Sure, Pronger is an Alternate Captain, but you expect that out of him, and all he did was elbow the dude. Ottawa is just all-around dirty while Anaheim has at least some classy players like both Niedermayers and Selanne.

I feel for you, being a Flyers fan and all.

say it aint so! the ducks are champions... ugh, ill just take solace in the fact that they didnt win the cup under the disney corporation.

It's about effing time SoCal won something again. But Hockey? Sheesh. At least Dodgers and Angels are looking solid this year too. Now if we could get the Lakers to not suck we could have something going.

Haha, I heard about how hockey fans in SoCal were a bit sore about the Ducks advancing in the playoffs and making it to the finals, because they wanted the Kings to win a Stanley Cup first.

I don't know all the details, but I found it interesting. I did love the one replay that made it to the news where the duck player checked one of the Ottawa guys in the back about 6 times in a row XD

Damn another year the Canadian team doesn't win the cup. The Hurricanes beat the Oilers, and now the Ducks win. fuck.

Well nothing to see here, heres hoping next year the Ducks don't win again.
