The Office - Season 3 - Discussion [possible spoilers]

Request:

It is my dad's birthday, and I am going out to dinner to celebrate. I will miss tonight's ep. If someone records it, please let me know.

Mods, if this sort of thing is frowned upon, please feel free to delete this message.

Also, Phyllis plays Phillis, Oscar plays Oscar, and Creed plays Creed...

Was Andy not in the bus during the flintstones scene?
That was a pretty good episode
My prediction
Karen gets the corporate job, leaving Jim and Pam at the Scranton branch without her, obviously Michael or Jim can't leave the Scranton branch.

He was on the bus. I think I saw him in the first close-up, but I know he was there.

And as for your prediction...

You're probably right, but remember that Jim did leave Scranton for a while this season. The writers might pull something like that again.

Damn tonight's episode ruled. It was a perfect blend of over-the-top goofy stuff (sumo suits, Andy floating away in said sumo suit) with real emotional stuff (Pam getting sick of Michael's bullshit, walking across the coals to prove to herself that she had courage, and then revealing her feelings to Jim). I can't wait for next week's show to see how they deal with that issue, and the matter of a few folks showing interest in the same corporate job that Michael will be interviewed for. Stanley was great tonight as well, and Creed had his great moment with the "We were having hot dogs?" line.

Pam - About 40 times a year, Michael gets sick without symptoms, and Dwight is gravely concerned.
Micahel - I wish I’d prepared something to say… May God guide you in your quest.
David - Yes.
Kevin - I just want to lie down on the beach and eat hot dogs. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.
Stanley - Oh sweet mother of God….
Michael - Stanley, if you don’t like it, you can go to the back of the bus…. or the front… or drive it.
Stanley - I’d rather work for an upturned broom with a bucket for a head than work for anyone in this office other than me. GAME ON!
Jim - I have never seen that look in a man’s eyes before… I thought I might die… on beach day!

The episode was great. Stanley saying he was "taking points from whitey", the whole episode was really funny. Dwight just falling on the coals, LMFAO.

i really thought pam was going to quit last night, but my guess was proved wrong. i think smalien has a pretty good theory there.

the singing on the bus was really good, but the best was stanley kissing ass for the first half and just getting sick of it after. he had the funniest facial expressions in that episode.

Even more Office next season...

from jsonline.com
Among the quirks in NBC's new fall lineup is the scheduling of 30 episodes of "The Office," including five one-hour episodes (they'll stretch into the "Scrubs" Thursday night slot, and that comedy will have only 18 episodes in what's sure to be its final season.

The normal number of episodes of a network series is 22.

That was my favorite line of the episode. You gotta love kevin.

You're entering the no spin zone!

Yeah, will be interesting to see how well they can handle several hour-long episodes - they're basically field-testing the possibility of expanding the show.

It's really great we're getting 30 episodes. Fewer gaps between new episodes of The Office makes me happy. Having 5 hour long episodes is just icing on the cake.

Great news. They should just pull the trigger make it an hour long. Most episodes this season seem to end abruptly and have a handful of deleted scenes anyway. I hate the recent feeling of the rush to cram so much into each half hour. This season there are a lot of "I wonder what happened" moments. I'd bet the last episode had some deleted lonely Toby scenes or some more floating Andy mishap. The writers have proven themselves, all the past hour long episodes have had great pacing. They need to fill the slots up anyway, fuckers not picking up Andy Barker!

^Well next season is the last season of Scrubs, and NBC will need something to fill that timeslot in the 08-09 season. Let's hope they make the Office an hour to fill it.

Oh cool. So whats left for comedies besides Earl and the Office? 30 Rock still there? From what I've caught of it, it seemed alright. I'll miss Scrubs after its gone, at least that lasted. I've been rewatching Arrested Dev and it hurts the brain to think of why theres so much crap is on TV and shows like that aren't.

30 Rock was good, took a while for me to get into it.

But now idiot Baldwin is taking time off from it.
And I hear Tracey Morgan is as well.

I love Tina Fey, but she can't pull off that show herself.

I wonder if the Office (and Heroes) will actually get 30 episodes next season. It looks like the writer's guild will be going on strike, so perhaps this huge episode order is to ensure that they have a normal 22-24 episode sized season (unless their writers aren't part of the writer's guild).

Let's get the popcorn out early!

I want to see Jim kiss Karen already. And I want Pam to see it and I want Pam to cry.

I'm so mean.

Whoever can post links of tonights episode (either youtubish thingy or direct dl), that would be great (once it's available of coarse). I missed last weeks episode and am watching them right now and after that want to see tonights as soon as I can (was going to record tonights, but came home too late).

Just look on mininova.org in about an hour or so. Since I'm on Pacific Time, the torrent is up before its even on TV. Usually I watch Smallville since the Office is only half an hour, then by the time Smallville is over, the Office is ready to be watched.

thx, I'll check in in a few min.
Well that was a terrible episode to start watching on...
No kidding.

If you're interested in the show, look for the second season DVD. The first season wasn't bad, but I think that the show didn't really hit its stride until maybe December or January of its second season.

Not to mention the first season was only 6 episodes.

Yeah, totally the wrong episode to start watching from. Lots of stuff ruined now.

It's cool though, pick up season 2!

Oh my God... that might've been the best episode yet. Michael and Jan getting together, Pam and Jim FINALLY getting together... and Karen lost the corporate job, while Ryan got it AND broke up with Kelly. Michael quoting Kim Possible was also greatness.

Andy - From henceforth, you will not be known as big tuna, you will be big haircut.
Pam - For the record, I’m not embarrassed… and it only took me three to summon the courage.
Karen - Pam is… kind of a bitch.
Michael - Convoys are really fun, we could pull aside each other… flip each other off… moon each other…
Stanley - I’ve never heard you talk so much… I thought it was Kelly.
Kelly - Pam, don’t worry, we were all so drunk that no one even remembers what you said.
Creed - I blogged the whole thing.
Ryan - Last year, Creed asked me to set up a blog. I opened up a Word file and typed in a web address to save the world from Creed‘s brain. I’ve read some of it, and even for the internet, it’s pretty shocking.
Dwight - Welcome to the Hotel Hell - check in time is now and check out time is never.
Jim - You’re not even the manager in your own dream?
Jim - So your biggest fantasy is to co-manage bed and breakfast in Hell… with the devil.
Dwight - Yes, but I haven’t told you my salary - $80,000.
Michael - DEFCON 20!
Michael - She made me do a lot of things I didn’t want to do.
Michael - Jan is in a different place right now, and it is a sign of maturity to give people second chances.
Pam - I’m sure that Jim was uncomfortable when Roy and I joked around… that one time.
Meredith - In my experience, men care more about the back than the front.
Michael - This is the opposite of shallow… this is emotionally magnificent.
Pam - I am what I am… that’s Popeye.
Michael - Here’s the sitch - two weeks ago, I was in the worst relationship of my life. Now, I’m in the best relationship of my life… with the same woman.
Pam - You will be your own assistant?
Dwight - Yes, I need someone I can trust.
Dwight - Do you accept?
Pam - Absolutely I do.
Pam - I learned from Jim that whenever Jim asks you to do something secret, say absolutely I do.
Oscar - Do you think he’ll get that job?
Phyllis - No, but he isn’t qualified for the one he has now.
Dwight - This is a Schrute buck - one thousand of these equals an extra five minutes for lunch.
Pam - What is the cash value of a Schrute buck?
Dwight - One-one hundredth of a dollar.
Pam - I literally cannot wait to see what Dwight has planned for us.
Dwight - Stanley, you have earned a Schrute buck.
Stanley - I don’t want it.
Dwight - You don’t want a Schrute buck?
Stanley - I’ll give you a Stanley nickel if you never talk to me again.
Dwight - What’s the ratio of Stanley nickels to Schrute bucks?
Stanley - The same as Unicorns to Leprechauns
David - This is off the record.
Karen - He would be a disaster.
Jan - YOU SON OF A BITCH, WHERE DO YOU GET OFF FIRING ME!?
Michael - David, I didn’t tell her…
Jan - So long, asshole!
David - We’re not giving you the job.
Karen - Wow, that was some serious, hardcore self destruction.
Jan - It’s just these painkillers I’ve been taking since the surgery…
Michael - Why is my office black?
Michael - Ryan, coffee.
Ryan - I don’t do that anymore.
Michael - I am never going to leave… I am going nowhere. This place is like my home, my hospital, and my old age home.
Pam - We never got the timing down. I shot him down, then he shot me down. If he’s gone for good, then… okay…
Jim - Excuse me, are you free for dinner tonight?
Pam - ..yes…
Jim - Great, it’s a date.
Kelly - Who was that?
Ryan - Nobody. We’re done!

Man, I can't imagine her staying in Scranton.

I totally saw that coming with Jim showing up mid interview.
Really didn't want it to happen.

Haha, Ryan, what a bastard.

I thought the finale was pretty good overall. I thought the ending was kind of dumb. Ryan dumping Kelly right away was funny but him getting the job when he wasn't even interviewed? I mean I know this is a comedy and everything but they could've set that up a little better. I guess it just kinda sucks for me since he was one of my favorite characters and I'm just assuming he won't be on much anymore. I was also a little disappointed with how Jim and Pam got back together. It didn't really feel like an important moment in the show. Look at how they handled the end of season 2 with Jim and Pam kissing and compare that to how the show tonight ended.

But who am I kidding really...., the show is great and had an awesome season. Bring on next year already!

I didn't like this season as much as last season, but it was a good ending tonight. Glad to see Ryan getting the corporate job--hopefully that takes him off the show for good.

ryan was friggin awesome at the end.. that was hilarious.. plus how funny is it that he was the intern..now he is scrantons boss..all that shit they put him through... hilarious..

I liked that the show ended the way it did. I don't want every season finale to end like Casino Night, since that would end up hurting how special that ending was, and this ep had its big, significant Jim/Pam moment with the interview cut-in right before it. Season 4 is sure to have plenty of stuff where Ryan FINALLY gets revenge on Michael for years of putting up with his bullshit - it wll be glorious.

I don't know...last season's ending was great, but I liked how they did it this time around.
Having Jim break into the middle of Pam's interview with the film crew was a nice touch. :)

Really great episode tonight. It had tons of funny lines, especially Ryan breaking up with Kelly right at the end.
Next season with Ryan as Michael's boss is going to be hilarious.
Also, with Jan moving in with Michael I get the feeling she's going to be hanging around the office quite a bit like David Brent was in the UK version after he got fired.

I will be fine with Ryan getting the job as long as there is a storyline with him doing shit to get revenge on Michael. That will be hilarious if done right.

This episode really capped off a great season. I really didn't expect a lot of the things that happened to go down the way they did and it was amazing. I don't think I've ever watched a better TV series than this one.

wow, i guess people forgot about the spoiler tags, because ya know, everyone watches tv eastern time.

anyway, itll be interesting to see wheret hey go with karen & jan now. i think ryan being michaels boss is going to be great. i also dont think jim and pam are going to get together this easily. i think well get to see karens bitch side quite a bit in season 4.

Bingo. That's the highlight for me of the next season, not this annoying lubby-dubby stuff.

Fantastic episode, love the way they ended it. I was afraid of another cliffhanger similar to last season's w/ Jim/Pam. Glad they gave us that moment.

The Ryan thing at the tail end was a great surprise. I didn't really care for where his character had went, being really bitter & pissed off all the time. But if he's over Michael now, then that could be a very interesting scenario.

As for spoiler tags - c'mon. If it's a thread dedicated to a show, then you know on the day the new show airs it's going to be discussed. Don't read the thread until you've seen it! If we spoiler tagged details about the show, the entire thread would be spoiler tags.
wow, i guess people forgot about the spoiler tags, because ya know, everyone watches tv eastern time.
That's why I never look at this thread before 9PM Pacific Time.

I loved how this season ended, particularly with how things went with Jim and Pam. Nothing major or overly dramatic, just sweet. I think I felt as giddy as Pam when Jim asked her to dinner.

Aside from that, I think my favorite moments were the Creed-blog, the women huddle to comfort Michael, and Kevin's comparison of Karen and Pam. In fact, I'm kinda disappointed we didn't get a final decision/report from him. And the twist with Ryan at the end was pretty good. I'm also curious to see if Karen is going all-out bitch next season, and how Jan and her big boobs are going to deal with unemployment and living with Michael.

I think we need some nudes.

I haven't watched the full finale yet cause I was flipping between Smallville, but with the Ryan thing, did they say anything about Business School helping him secure the position? That would be great.
