Hey Linkin, has the camera flash on your fascinate given you any trouble? After trying everything I can with software, I think my led flash is just dead.
Nope, no issues here, I was just using it yesterday for X-Mas and its still kicking.

Guess I'm going to visit the verizon store tomorrow then. Sad thing is I never use the thing, I only realized it didn't work because the flashlight app I tried wouldn't work. Even after getting rid of that it wouldn't work.
Does anyone have this app?

Xbox Live Statistics from Nicolas Ortiz?

Really good app IMO, I haven't heard much about it but downloaded it, put my xbox e-mail/password in, and it tells me my acheivements and friends online, which is what I was looking for.
youre email and password for your acct i bet is sent to this guy. youll be hacked eventually i bet. i wouldnt trust anything unless its from microsoft for xbl

Due for an upgrade soon. Should I stick with my HTC Hero (running Cyanogenmod) and wait for something better, or splurge on the Evo now?
I didn't pay for the one I mentioned. They have a paid one, and a free one as well. I just use it to see what friends are online before I decide to get on or not.
Did not see the free one. I will have to double check this.

I would not buy a phone right at this moment, CES and the mobile world conference are coming up and new phones are supposed to be out within the next month or so. What is currently referred to as the HTC Incredible HD is supposed to be coming to verizon soon and will have 4G support. Think an EVO 4G for Verizon.

Thanks for the headsup Clak!

I'm currently on Sprint and plan to stick with them, but when I was in the market for my Hero I was scouring the techblogs daily for endless info on phones. Now I don't seem to have the time to keep up!

I have unlimited text on my plan so I mainly use the default text, but I do use Google Talk with some of my friends and that one is pretty sweet too.
wound up ordering the Droid X from Amazon for $50 on friday...my first smartphone - weeeeeee
Newegg has it for free today.

So is there a good search applciation for local business? I used Places a lot but to be honest it has nothing on the old Instinct live search function. Places misses stuff all the time, I could search with my old instinct other cities, etc and it always seemed to pull up... I dont even see a way to change the search location on places..

I imagine there is an application out there that does this better? At least I hope...

I have the EVO.

You might try Yelp, it does local searching I think.

4G is offically on tomorrow here in the bay area. I've been leaving 4G on to see what kind of coverage and batt life I can expect...

Anyway, have to admit it is fast.

It wouldn't matter if I had 4G or not, here at home I can barely get decent 3G speeds. In fact I'd be happy just to have full speed 3G.

Yeah, that's why I use wifi at home usually. This area must be a bad area for radio signals anyway, can't get OTA TV signals either.

Any way to still have my phone connect to face book but not list everyones email and phone numbers? Every time I try to call someone or send a text I'm not sure if it is the number they use. I tried to call a friend of mine and on their face book they have 2 mobile numbers listed. I called the one and it was now their moms number. This issue has also happend with my yahoo mail. All I want are the numbers I put in the phone and not the ones people have on their face book.

I so wanted to wait for their 4G but my using my iPhone 3G was so damn frustrating. Hopefully we'll get the option to upgrade early, I'm hoping for at least 1year early upgrade.

@ Sendme - Go to Settings and then Accounts & Sync. From there you can select which services to sync the phone book. At least those are the options on my Fascinate w/Android 2.1.

Some time after posting I was able to get it so that only the people on my contacts showed up and not everyone on my facebook. I was also found out how to change it so it was not synced to my yahoo email. The issue is now some of my friends have more than one number on their facebook and the ones that are on my phone still show up with all the numbers linked on their facebook. The issue with this is I try to call them and they are numbers they no longer use and are for a land line. I tried to call the one and his mom picked it up. Sad thing is they don't even know the numbers are like this and all say mobile so unless I know what number to pick I don't if I'm calling their old number or cell phone.

Also I know I should not mess with my phone when it comes to rooting it seeing how I'm asking about how to set up the contacts however I was just wondering if anyone could tell me some of the must have apps for a rooted droid? I downloaded one so I can use the wifi on my evo. That one app is really why I rooted it. Also I wanted to delete some of the stuff I will never use and have an app that I can do that with but was wondering if their was some sort of back up that I can load onto my PC incase I do something I shouldn't have. That way I could just flash my EVO and it be working the way it was when I backed it up.

I'm on my phone so getting a link is a bit of a pain, but verizon is changing their upgrade window to every 20 months.

In a 2 year contract with sprint when can you upgrade? is it at the end of the 2 years. Also what is this Sprint Premier? I tried looking up online about the upgrade but all I saw was a discount after so long. Thought I would get a free phone out of it or be able to get a new one with out another contract. All I see for the premier a page that talks about it but when I click on stuff it takes me to sprint.com. I could call and talk to someone at sprint but with my hours of work it really isn't that easy to do and I can't stand talking to them because most the time I find that the employees no little to nothing.

I could've swarn I saw some where saying all you have to do to get Premier status is be with Sprint for 6mo. or something making it pretty pointless. I think Premier people can upgrade a year early too. I have that status. I've been with them for like 6 yrs. (that sounds painful) though.

anyone see the Infuse 4G?

It sounds super awesome-o, except the CheezWiz UI and AT&T.

Those are like someone crapped onto your expensive dinner out.

:whistle2:(

There are a lot of stellar phones coming: the infuse, thunderbolt, atrix, inspire, LG black, optimus 2x, xperia arc. Unfortunately, many of them either have craptastic UI, last gen overclocked CPU, or outdated android version.

Still, they'll be great devices rooted or non-rooted.

I don't want to just repost a bunch of cES news here, so here is androidcentral's coverage.

Those Asus tablets are interesting. The plain tablet I was kinda disappointed with since it isn't 10 inches, but there is the one with the dock, which supposedly is optional. Without the dock it's a normal 10 inch tablet.

Between that, the Inspire, and Atrix, ATT will finally have some decent Android phones. Now if they could just fix the real problem, that it's ATT.

The fact that it will have 2.2 pisses me off though, if it's basically a supped up Galaxy S phone like some say, why the hell don't the other Galaxy S phones have 2.2 yet?

Better 2.2 than 2.1 like some SE x10 owners...LOLZ. :(
I'm hoping Samsung makes an announcement on the status of the update for the current Galaxy S line up.
There is supposed to be some sort of update coming on the 10th according to the document I've seen. Probably just another maintenance update though.

So apparently Nvidia has some big plans for ARM architecture. From phones to PCs, Microsoft is even rumored to be developing a version of windows for ARM.

Oh this is absolute bullshit ..so these great new every 2 plans they had where you get 100/50 off is now gone by the middle of the month?!?!?! Shit I am not eligible for an early upgrade until next month.

I'm starting to want that phone from Vizio. I think I only want it so I can use it as a TV remote. I'm sure I can have a lot of fun with that if it works with TVs that are not Vizio.

I can do that remote thing with my phone right now. Well, I do have Verizon FiOS and the Verizon app to do so, and it only controls my cable box but its something...

I have the Droid R2D2, but its now part of a seperation agreement. My husband is "willing" to let me keep it, but I'd prefer to get a new phone with a new plan =)
