The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

Funny thing I've noticed about craigslist...

If you post an ad with barely 2 lines of text and minimal description, people can't wait to buy it.

Posting details and pictures scares people off. Using too many words confuses these buyers and pictures are just big colorful things meant to distract them. It's probably why my ads get no solid replies. I should start going minimalist to appeal to the baser idiot instincts of the local buyers, I might make more money.

I originally saw him selling these for $600, and I emailed him asking if he'd sell individual games. He told me he'd either do all the SNES games or all the NES games for $300. I wonder if he'd split them up for $150 each...

^ If it was $150 for all the SNES games, that wouldn't be too bad if you are looking for most of those games for your collection... if you are looking to resell, its probably not the best deal

Someone on CL traded me their Demon Souls Deluxe Edition with guide, art book and soundtrack for my Halo 3 ODST. Which I got on Amazon for 26.XX :D

Also is 100 dollars for a 360, two wireless controllers, wireless headset, Halo 3, Battlefield Bad Company and some other game a good deal? I'm guessing worst case scenario tradein on a 360 is still kind high. Gotta be around 70 bucks, right?

Haha, game must've whooped their ass.

I'd say that's an alright deal, if only for the controllers and headset. I doubt a 360 trades in for $70 though. You should probably be able to turn around and sell it with one of the games and controllers on CL for $70 however.

I traded in my 360 when the PS3 slim was released, almost two months ago, and GS gave me $90 credit, but $20 of that was a bonus for buying the PS3 slim, so it should still be pretty high.

Yeah, that's basically what he alluded to. Then he asked me why I was getting rid of ODST and it took everything I had to keep me from saying "BECAUSE YOUR GAME IS OOP AND IS WORTH 80 DOLLARS AND COULD BE WORTH MORE IN THE FUTURE NOT TO MENTION THAT I ALREADY GOT MY 1000/1000"

The fact that it comes with a wireless headset sort of cinches the deal for me. I'm going over to his house (I can haz rape?) to test it out-- I'm figuring the components that I can know for sure work (controllers, headset, power brick) will definitely ensure a break even at the worse.

Okay... not exactly on topic, but I thought some would get a kick out of it

This vehicle is the biggest piece of shit available on the market! This car would be great for an unappreciative bastard, step-child, or just anyone who you want to be embarassed everywhere they go. There is so much wrong with this car it's funny! Pretty much everything except the engine is broken--however it drives fine. This rusty road hazard has windshield-wipers that are operated by pull-string. The driver side door is rusted off the hinge(so the door is never fully closed), so entry into the vehicle is only available on the passenger side, making it an embarassing experience getting into and out of the car. Important! Do NOT fill up the car more than half way with gas (it leaks if you fill it up more than half way). That is a bad combination with the electric sparking power windows! BOOM! hahah just joking this car is great! but really it might blow up. This car would be perfect for driving off of a cliff or into a rock wall or ghost riding into the charles. Car has about 95,000 miles and will definately not pass inspection. It needs new tires, brakes, windshield wipers, driver side door, power windows, gas tank, and many many more! Will trade for motorcycles, helicopters, boats, or old-school video games.

Not the CL stupidity thread. But thanks for the laugh.

On topic, today I scored a copy of Forza 3 and Halo 3 ODST sealed for $85. I have no idea how the guy got Forza 3 but it was real. Sold it on Ebay already even though it was tempting to keep it. Auction is right here. Even shipped it out via Express Mail.

I saw this ad in the auto section a few days ago. Broke out laughing.

Everything, you take all for $100

Donkey Konga 1& 2
Zelda Wind Waker & Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Double Dash
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Mario Golf Toadstool Tour
Zelda Collector's Edition

Game Boy Player Start-up Disc
3 Bongo drums
2 Game Cube controllers
Audio Video Cable and power cord

Should i go for it guys?

Is this worth it? $100 for everything

Original XBOX w/box, 3 controllers and the following games:
Halo, Halo 2 Collector's Edition, Tiger Woods Golf, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Scarface, The Godfather, Ghost Recon, TOCA Race Driver 2, Fable,Buffy the Vampire Slayer (no case), The Matrix Path of Neo,Prince of Persia, Rainbow Six Lockdown

GameCube w/box, 2 controllers, microphone and the following games:
Mario Party 7, Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

Nintendo 64, 2 controllers and the following games:
Mario Kart, Goldeneye 007, Starfox

I'd keep the N64 and games. I'd probably just keep Fable, Halo and Halo 2 and sell the rest of the XBOX stuff, and I'm not sure what I'd do with the GameCube stuff yet. I'd probably sell it all off. Worth it or no?

well that's why i asked, just trying to get a second opinion

If he gets back at me i'm probably gonna try to talk him down, what do you guys recommend?

Is it really that rare? I know people were jizzing all over each other in the Amazon thread as the # of available copies slowly worked its way down. What was the condition like on Demon Souls?

Anyways, yeah be sure to check that all the stuff is working, and also see about the warranty sticker under the faceplate.

Also, lol @ Forza 3; it's mind numbing that people will pay double the cost of the game just to get it a week or two in advance.

Demon Souls was mint. Well, not rare per se, but ODST has definitely dropped in value while this game has increased slightly (till Best Buy had some in stock online) It remains to be seen if it will ever be rare, but it's supposed out of print and you gotta figure ODST is going to tank in value while this game may or may not.

Also good point about checking the warranty sticker, I hadn't even thought of that. Maybe I'll get lucky and it never got registered by anyone.

That what I was thinking. But who am I to judge lol. I am gonna get it eventually for like $20. I'm not in any rush

I'm so cheap, that I'll just wait until it shows up on Club Bing for free.

Just got a decent deal.. $ 30 for 2 WiiMotes, 2 Nunchucks, and 1 GameCube Controller. It needs just a bit of cleaning, but all works fine.

^nice find gi!

I may or may not pick up this:

DS Lite Console
Mario Kart DS
Mario Party DS
Super Mario 64 DS
Sonic Rush
Super Mario Kart (GBA)

Lowest they will go is $90.. not sure if I am going to bite or not yet...

Unless the DS is in excellent condition, I'd pass. IMO you could do better.

I saw that in Leominster as well, too far to make it worthwhile. Absolute steal in my book as it's an easy $100-110 for the DS Lite since it's complete (I just sold a pink one for $125) on ebay and you get the games for free.

Just picked up:
About 50 Sega Genesis games
about 10 or 15 empty cases and manuals for Genesis games (guess he forgot to check)
1 Sega CD game
Sega CD / Sega Genesis combo + hookups + controllers
Playstation 1 big version, console only
Steering wheel + pedals
Light gun

TOTAL: $30

Will post pics upon finding the camera!

EDIT:

games with cases
img3240.jpg

games with cases and some without cases
img3242f.jpg

cases and/or manuals for ones that there were no games in
img3245b.jpg

system/accessories and stuff. i forgot to picture the playstation 1 console but thats nothing special.

If you want to buy any of this stuff send me a PM.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, looking at the completed listing though they are going for around 80-90. So yeah, I would almost be getting the games for free.. but they are only worth about $40-50 anways, so
Unless the DS is in excellent condition, I'd pass. IMO you could do better.
They said it is in pretty good condition, minimal light scratches on the screen.. comes with box and stuff too. but yeah, not sure if it's worth it, especially since I have a DSi...

So I told him the most I would go is $80 (would leave me with about $50 profit), maybe if he doesnt sell soon he will take it.

Yeah, it's always a good idea to just give them a max and tell them to e-mail you if they don't get anything higher. Sometimes you hear back from the seller.

I'd take a Lite over a DSi though; from what I read it was a bit nerfed game-wise (no GBA slot) and it eats through a charge faster than the 2 earlier models. Never used one before though, so you'd probably know better than I would.

I don't check cl much, and first time I've ever seen this thread. But I just found a listing for Borderlands & NBA Live 10 for $60 total. Might have to bite.
$90
What kind of condition were they in? Maybe I'm thinking too low per game, but I only got $110 total from those; did you talk the seller down any?
What kind of condition were they in? Maybe I'm thinking too low per game, but I only got $110 total from those; did you talk the seller down any?
all the games were in exceptional condition. i didn't talk him down. he had no set prices and a list of games and we negotiated. at first i was gonna spend $45 and get Burnout Paradise, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, UFC, and Dead Space.

he added Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Saint's Row 2, and Left 4 Dead for the extra $45.

from my trade in math my $90 spent will net me $130 something if the values in the thread are accurate and i decide to trade all of them in. which i probably will by the 7th or 8th when the promo ends to put on my Modern Warfare 2 360 bundle. until then i'll play them.

Ah, didn't know you were getting them for flipping; I wouldn't know if it was worth it or not in terms of TIVs. Glad to hear they were in good condition though; sorry if it seemed like I was trying to shit on your deal, that wasn't my intention at all.

You gotta haggle though, haha. Never settle for asking price!

I need a quick answer, will these be worth it for $100?

2 nin 64 w/10 games, super nin w/ 8 or more games, super nintendo with 8 games, atari w/ 1 games, N television w/ 20 games, and a sega dreamcast

I dont know what the games are...
Thinking about picking up Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for $20

is it worth it?
It's one of the rarer gamecube games, if it's complete, maybe.

Just scored these 6 games on CL:
Halo 3
Orange Box
Forza 2
FIFA 07
FIFA World Cup 2006
NBA 2k8

All were disc only. Paid $20 for everything.

Kept Halo 3 since it was the only game I wanted (already had Orange Box). Traded the rest of the games in at Gamestop for ~$16.50 credit give or take.

Just picked up Metal Gear Solid for Gamecube, it's complete but the manual is a bit worn and the case was messed up. Good thing i have resident evil 4 for the gcn somewhere.
Just picked up Metal Gear Solid for Gamecube, it's complete but the manual is a bit worn and the case was messed up. Good thing i have resident evil 4 for the gcn somewhere.
those sentences are not relevant to each other.

had a guy agree to sell
Halo 3 ODST
Chromehounds
Call of Duty World at War
2 Live headsets

all for $65, I'll see if he follows through tomorrow. all in all it should trade in for close to $80 which will mean that about $85 of my Modern Warfare 2 360 bundle will have been paid for off profits from CL buy and trades.
My sentiments exactly.
Well, The Twin Snakes comes in a two-disc case, just like RE4. And my RE4 case doesn't look that bad
