The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!
not the cheapest deal, but still not bad IMO(especially for the first game):

-Harvest Moon
-Super Mario RPG
-Mega Man X *CIB*
-Donkey Kong Country *CIB*
-Donkey Kong Country 2 *CIB*
-Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
-Power Instinct
-Illusion of Gaia
-Mario All-Stars
-Mario is Missing
-Mario's Time Machine
+One more game I can't remember

All for $65 - I've dealt with the guy who sold these before, about 2 months ago he sold me the SNES with some 28 games(mostly filler, but some goodies like FF III) for $60.00. He's an intersting fella: certainly not the kind of person you would expect to be a collector.

Not a CL deal, but the next day I went to the pawn shop and picked up two more copies of Mario All-Stars, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, and a spare controller for $12. Unfortunately the guy working there was also a gamer, and he told me there was a copy of Super Metroid in the box that he snagged earlier.... I guess you can't win them all, eh?
Are you in NY? I was just talking to someone about similar games, though, he didn't mention them being boxed (and no Harvest Moon). Good find, regardless!

I had a fun little find while doing some Xmas shopping on Thursday; met someone between BBV runs with the BOGO madness:

Kube, I briefly skimmed your list and the guy's asking prices, and they are pretty ridiculous. Not sure about the 32x games, but just do a brief check of real world values at www.videogamepricecharts.com

I certainly wouldn't buy the lot at $400 - there are far too many garbage games and sports titles in there, not too mention too few quality games that wouldn't come close to being worth $400 in the real world.

And $40 for a cart only copy of Phantasy Star 3? $20 for a cart only Genesis Six-Pack? This dude is on serious crack. It looks like this guy took the real world values and then gave them different multipliers based on his own personal feelings for the games.

This guy just has a decently big but mostly shitty hodgepodge Genesis collection that he is trying to rip someone off with.

EDIT: I'm just now looking at Sega Genesis games on videogamepricecharts. Phantasy Star 3 is listed at $7. I'm not even sure if that's the value for cart only or complete. Hell, even Phantasy Star 4 has dropped to $14 thanks to the PS2 and PSP Sega Genesis collection.

Strider is $5.87 versus his $20...Gunstar Heroes is $16 versus his $30...LOL Eternal Champions he's asking $10 for, cart only? That game is listed at $.75, it's like Shaq-Fu in value.

ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron - $30 (cart only) LOLOL, that's not the ToeJam and Earl game that is valuable...this one is only worth $8.50

Contra Hard Corps, cart only, and he wants $35??? $10 value.

Kube, if you really want some of these games, I would send the guy an email with a link to the VGPC Genesis game value page and ask him why his prices are so out of line with reality...

On another note, I can't believe how many of the higher value Sega Genesis games I had, some I still do, but unfortunately a lot I very foolishly sold. Doh!

Yea after I made the post I checked digital press' online rarity guide and ebay, most of his stuff isnt worth it.

Yeah I wish I could tell you that some of his prices were remotely decent, but man they stink. I'd love to get a complete copy of Strider or Gunstar Heroes among a few others, but no way at those prices.

As far as I go, the other day I posted a Wanted ad for Dark Knight on Blu Ray, asking for the lowest price someone would sell me a used complete mint copy for, since amazon has it for $24 new and free shipping no tax, and had it for $22 for a few days. Got a couple of offers to sell it to me for $20 sealed, I said I'd give 'em $15 if I have to pick it up, no dice. So yesterday a guy emails me that he has an extra copy from Christmas and wants $15 for it, I tell him if I pick it up it will have to be $10, take it or leave it, he takes it.

And it wasn't more than a few blocks out of the way on my way home, and it's still sealed, 3 disc digital copy set with the outer cardboard stock cover. Score.

checking prices on this now but what would be good for the following lot which also includes a snes system 2 controllers, power cord works but all taped up

Super Mario World
---Super Mario All-Stars
---Super Mario Kart Monopoly
---Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?
---King of the Monsters
---The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
---F-Zero (cool racing game!)
---Primal Rage
---Home Alone 2, Lost in New York
---Madden NFL 97
---Super Bases Loaded

About what I thought a couple good games rest garbage. I suppose offering $25 would be good. That's about all I am willing since they are all cart only

Start at $20, if even that. The power cord is damaged "all taped up", and the game lot is pretty "meh". Couple decent fighting games, the 3 Mario games, and Magical Quest are the only standouts.

May bite on this a local ad was advertising an xbox with a wireless network adapter its the official MS one. I emailed her she said $30 for just that, should I counter with $15-$20? I'll either use it myself or sell it.

It's not complete in box nor does it have the cd that comes with it. I need an answer fast my fellow CAGs

Finally found something to put here.
I was in need of a dreamcast, so I found someone selling a bundle for $30.
I wasn't going to get it until I saw that he had Project Justice with it.
I knew that game was kinda rare, so I offered to buy the bundle.
He also had Garou: MOTW too, but there's bad news for that...(see below pics)

Anyway, we meet up, and he shows me everything.
He was talking about how he burned all his games with the broadband adapter(which IIRC, is rare), but sadly it was not included.:bomb:
Most of the stuff is kinda beat up, but nothing that a few replacement cases and cleaning won't fix.
Here's what came with it. (The noteworthy stuff anyway)

Dreamcast, hookups, memory card, rumble pack, 2 controllers and the box
Samba de Amigo complete
Project Justice complete
Jojo's Bizzare Adventure complete
Space Channel 5 complete
Chu Chu Rocket complete
Garou: Mark of the Wolves complete
Spindle of burned games

0113091936.jpg
And here's my poor copy of Garou...
:bomb:I'll try it out tomorrow, but I doubt it'll work. I think he included a burned copy, but I'm not sure...
0113091940.jpg
Not too bad of a haul, if I say so myself.
I even got everything delivered to me.
If I don't like Project Justice, I'll sell that one and make back my $30.
I'm just glad I can play Marvel vs. Capcom 2 again.(And hopefully Garou...)

Eh- still a good deal :)

Alright guys, need your suggestions here. This isn't game related, but I want to learn how to play guitar, so I've been looking around for a cheap basic electric guitar. I've never bought anything off CL before, but I found a guitar that looks good for a beginner like me who just wants to learn basics and mess around. He's asking $25, how much should I counter with? Obviously I don't want to offend him because I'd like to snag this, but if I can get it cheaper obviously that'd be ideal. Thanks!

Hoooooo, boy, did I make a score tonight. There's a long story behind this, but skip ahead if you just want to see the loot. The story though shows how to make these magic craigslist/flea market/yard sale scores happen, but especially craigslist, where the competition can be fierce.

So, to begin, I'm perusing craigslist late this afternoon when I came across this ad:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/tag/1000845004.html

LOL, they've already changed the ad around, but as you can see from the pics, they had more games listed originally. Also of note is that they've upped the prices on a bunch of the games now. Originally, they had Earthbound listed for $5, along with Breath of Fire 2 (also $5) Lufia 2 (also $5), Super Mario RPG (listed at $10) FF3 (listed at $10) and a bunch of others listed at 5 to 10 dollars. They didn't have anything but Super Nintendo games listed and pictured, originally.

I immediately called the number when I saw the ad to see if it was legit, and sure enough there was a girl selling them and she was legit.

I tell her I'm looking for a bunch of games I don't already have for the Super Nintendo system, and start off with something other than what I really want (Earthbound, Lufia 2, etc.)...I ask if she still has Mortal Kombat 2 and Donkey Kong Country. She says she does, and lists off all the games. I proceed to tell her I want BoF2, Earthbound, Mario RPG, Lufia 2, FF3, and she mentions she also has some Sega Genesis and Nintendo NES games she just found while cleaning the garage some more.

I tell her I'd definitely be interested, and for the 5 Super Nintendo games I originally list she agrees to $25. I am at that point about to piss my pants. I get the address, she wants to meet at an In n Out right off the 10 freeway at Francisquito, which is a bit far from my location of Culver City at that time (4:30 pm). But I tell her I will leave now, give her my cell number, and be there in an hour or so. I know I have to seal this deal as fast as I can, or it's going to fall apart, no question about it. I also try to use every IP address at my disposal in my office before I run out to flag that ad off of craigslist so that I'll have as little competition as possible. The competition can't screw me out of it if they don't know about it, which they almost do since I couldn't get it off and didn't want to waste too much time trying.

Anyway, I haul ass out there, fighting through traffic and get there about 5:30, when I call her on my cell again as I'm exiting the freeway. Sure enough, other people have been calling her and after she has told them Earthbound, Lufia etc. are already spoken for, these people are telling her that she is selling certain games too low (apparently only Lufia 2 and Earthbound she is getting too little for, and she claims to have gotten offers of $70 a piece for those). I play dumb, and ask her how much she wants for the games I wanted.

She doesn't know what to come up with, so I ask her if there is a Citibank or 7-11 close by I can get money out, she gives me the location but tells me just to come to her place and see what deal we can work out.

Her boyfriend is much more open to negotiate and accept anything, because they are pretty desperate for cash. It ends up they have a bunch more stuff that they didn't even list or photograph, including a Genesis with a bunch of games, Megaman 5, Kid Icarus, Ninja Gaiden 3, and extra copies of Earthbound and Final Fantasy 3. I tell you, the quality ratio of this lot is so high it's radioactive.

So she doesn't want to sell the really good stuff to me, or at least not as cheap as she originally quoted me, but she had mentioned on the phone with me that they need money but don't want to get ripped off selling the valuable games so low, so I tell them I will take Breath of Fire 2, Final Fantasy 3, Mario RPG, Ninja Gaiden 3, Kid Icarus, a few other unimportant games and the Genesis set they have for $50...basically, everything except for the Earthbound copies and the Lufia 2 since they want too much for them. They agree to this.

So I tell them I will run to the 7-11 and come back with their money. I pull out $100. It's much more than I'd want to spend, but I figure, let's see what I can get with a Cash in Face.

I go back to their place, and the boyfriend has the games in the garage that I wanted, and he throws in a few games I don't really care about (Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, and the 2 NBA Jams and NBA Tournament games). I tell him, "look, I know those guys may offer more, but I've been buying and selling on craigslist and at least 90% of these guys are flakes with no money, won't show. Here I am, with money in my hand, ready to buy. So how about all this, plus those copies of Earthbound and Lufia and the extra Final Fantasy 3 in case this one's batter doesn't work, for this hundred?" I wave the twenties in his face. He agrees, and goes to get them and tells the girl, who reluctantly agrees too. I would have taken the Megaman 5, but she wanted crazy money for that game as well, saying someone told her it was the "rarest NES game", LOL.

So here's what I got for $100:

Sega Genesis Model 2 or 3 (came with 2 controllers and all plugs, not pictured because I didn't pull them out of the bag), with:

Cart Only

Mortal Kombat
Road Rash 2
Gauntlet 4
Sonic 2
Strider
Strider 2

Complete

NBA Jam Tournament Edition
Fifa Internation Soccer
NFL 94 Featuring Joe Montana
Mutant Hockey League, which is apparently worth some money itself

NES, all Cart Only:

Ninja Gaiden 3
Kid Icarus (stickered, but I've already cleaned that off with Goo Gone)
Battletoads

Super Nintendo, All Cart Only:

Earthbound x2
Final Fantasy 3 x2
Mario RPG
Breath of Fire 2
Lufia 2
Super Mario All Stars
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Final Fight
NBA Jam
NBA Tournament

25 is honestly cheap enough, any lower and the guy would just as likely go outside and bash it on the concrete for kicks.

that's a model 2 genesis. now i know why some of my stuff gets flagged off craigslist. it's pretty annoying to relist stuff, but i'm pretty sure it's done by my competition, not by people flocking to buy.

It's a nice haul you got, but this is a really crappy thing to do. Not only are you being completely selfish, you didn't intend to buy everything in the listing. Thus, even flagging it under the notion that "this is spoken for" hurts the seller, because I'm sure they wanted to move the rest of their items as well.

But for an epic find that would've been more so if he had been quicker in flagging it? I think we can forgive him this one time simply because of the quality. I agree that under normal circumstances flagging is very crappy but this was clearly not normal circumstances.

Wow. Two copies each of Earthbound and Final Fantasy VI? Wow. I wouldn't have believed it if you didn't have the pictures. :) Amazing story dude.

Hey I'm definitely not arguing with you - totally a crappy thing to do on my part, absolutely, but she is the one that was listing Earthbound, Mario RPG, etc. for $5 (!!!!!!!) a piece, and I knew that whoever got to her first would be the one to take advantage of it, no doubt in my mind. I wouldn't try to flag it off except in some insane case such as this, where all bets were off. Besides, it's not as if I was successful in getting it flagged off anyway. But it is a tactic that is out there and available and MANY people will use it. I've sent an email via the craigslist response system to some deal, only to have the email bounce back because the posting has been flagged off.

Considering she was a good 25 miles away, and I had contacted her first, it was done in an attempt to hedge my bets for the long drive that I was about to undertake and I knew that MANY MANY people would be after this one, especially in a city as large as LA. Besides, unlike so many talkers and gawkers on craigslist, I wasn't just talking, I had the cash and made the drive. It's easy for others to be calling them and telling them "oh I'll give you $X more for game Y, just don't sell it to anyone else and I will come and get it in a year or two...", blah blah blah. I was there to make a deal, not play on the phone and bullshit with them.

But again, I agree with you...very lousy of me. But I'm going to hell for a lot worse than that, so no skin off my sack...
I must say karkyco, that's an amazing haul. Who seriously just has 2 copies of Earthbound and FF3 laying around?
Apparently they just had them boxed up in the garage, probably for years, and were cleaning the garage out. Unreal. But there's no shortage of stories of people discovering priceless artifacts and historical treasures in the least expected or most mundane places...attics, basements, behind false walls in homes when remodeling...

Man, I ALMOST had this one today:

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/tag/1001887966.html

1. BRIGANDINE
2. CIVILIZATION II
$2 EACH.
3m73of3la1111381gc91l6a934a057bcb1278.jpg

...until the lady's husband called me and said that he wanted to keep those two instead of selling them. Apparently she already sold his Final Fantasy VII, so at least that was a little believable. :bomb: Man, Brigandine for $2.00 would have been SO sweet.

....and it's good to see you around Karkyco!! Your CL skillz amaze me ;)

No pics as I just picked it up on the way to and from running a couple of errands, but I just got a Turbografx 16 with 7 card only games, $20. Guy wanted $40 originally but he didn't have the power supply (damn it) and he included some RCA cable with only the video and the red lines, it definitely isn't the right one but I can't remember what the original looked like.

It slightly helps make up for the TG16 and Turbo CD I sold many years ago, along with all my complete (jewel cases AND outer boxes) games for it :)bomb::bomb::bomb:). The unit is dusty and could use a cleaning. Now I have to see about tracking down a Turbografx 16 power supply and AC cables or the RF box, maybe one of the other systems' RF boxes will work on the thing.

The cards are all in perfect shape, and one of them is Air Zonk (hmmm, I should go down to the car and double check that it's not Super Air Zonk....it's unreal how valuable some of these games are). Here's the list o' games:

Air Zonk
Bonk's Adventure
Legendary Axe
Devil's Crush
Gunboat
Kieth Courage
Hit the Ice

That reminds me of the one story of a family who was planning on replacing their roof on their house. Before the contractors came in, they went up in their attic to check out the roof themselves and found a genuine conquistadors' helmet(big ass metal one) wedged up in one of the roof supports.

They had no idea how long it had been up there because they weren't the original owners of the house, but could you imagine finding something like that in your attic?

Even better was the one where a lady bought an old painting just for the frame from it from Salvation Army for $2 and when she was ripping out the original painting to salvage the frame, she found a copy of the Constitution or Declaration of Independence underneath.

It turned out it was one of only 20 copies made back when it was written. I think they valued it at $250k.

I got lucky yesterday and scored a 60GB PS3 along with Tomb Raider Underworld, GRAW2, and Blazing Angels. The dude also gave me the Blu-Ray movies he had, Casino Royale, A Scanner Darkly and The Queen. All for $200.

The games were disc and manual only but I'll probably just trade them in at Gamestop anyway. I was able to dump TRU on Goozex as disc only for 1000 points.
That reminds me of the one story of a family who was planning on replacing their roof on their house. Before the contractors came in, they went up in their attic to check out the roof themselves and found a genuine conquistadors' helmet(big ass metal one) wedged up in one of the roof supports.

you got some of the facts wrong (man not woman, flea market not salvation army, etc) but it was one of the best deal.

Heh, I only learned that because there was a commericial for some product, and it involved that story. And in the end a people started punching out framed art in hopes to find their own copy. Anyone else remember this comercial?

EDIT: Ah, the link does mention the commercial.

Just scored both Suikoden 1 and 2, complete and in good condition, for $20. Best part was that I did not have to haggle or flag her ad or anything of the sort. I love Craigslist!

Monday i ended up grabbing 2 Dreamcast, 1 NES, 1 XBOX, 1 PS1 and 1 Gamecube with gameboy reader attached. The PS1 had a PS2 dualshock controller and all wires while the others had none. Guy didnt know if they worked or not. I also got 4 xbox games and 1 xbox360 game. Not really valuable but part of package. I load up the dirty machines in back of van, bring them home and 1 by 1 i verified they worked!...Grand total for lot was $40 plus $2 for magic eraser to clean them up real nice!

Oh hell yeah. You could try to bring it down a little but it already has some really tasty bits (quality to crap ratio of the games is extremely high, plus it's a PS2 slim) and you could easily make your money back provided the game discs are in excellent shape and complete outside of the FF7. As far as the FF7 with no case, my thoughts would be to try and track down a double CD case but with 3 slots (inner grey piece should have CD holder as well), then see if you can find scans of the black label inserts online, and print out high res color copies of them, and put them in the case.

^I'd go for it, It is worth it, personaly I would try for something lower atleast 120, but if you have to spend the whole $140 it is well worth it if you dont have a PS2.

P.S. I think I found a prototype Xbox on Craigslist here, everything looks normal but the controllers are in a weird X shape. and they are Microsoft Brand controllers.

My opinion of the Loose FFVII, sell it on Amazon for $55-$60(I just sold a loose copy) then use that money to buy a minty one from a local retro game store, or Ebay.

You don't want that SNES.. That's not a good deal...

..because I'm going to buy it first! NYEAH! :D

Yes, that is a damn good deal. Those are all great games. Killer Instrinct, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Mario could turn around enough cash to triple your initial investment.

And they're also great games to actually play.
