The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

I'm wondering:

Is $35 too much for a SNES (bottom is yellow), 2 controllers, A/V cables, AC adapter and 2 games (SF2, Tetris/Dr. Mario)?

Guy posted 2 Nintendo DSes, 14 games for 60 dollars earlier today. He siad they were the originals. I was at work and sent him an email and called him. Told him I'd give hima n extra 20 if he brought them to me right now because I was at work and live 10 minutes away and could show me both of them worked. Animal Crossing (which I wanted) some pokemon, lego, mario, and megaman games. 9 good games. 5 dumb ones I won't play about cheerleading and stuff. Anyways he comes her.. they were ds lites. Freakin sweet.
Showed me they both turned on. His daughter went off to college and left a bunch of stuff she said he could sell. Woot I just wanted animal crossing and a ds to play it on. One of them has a large scratch on the outside of the case that is deep but doesn't affect the screen or controlls. The other is great.
Oh, I forgot, it's a sealed Super Smash Bros. Melee Bundle Set in mint condition.
I found a rock today.

Oh, I forgot, it's actually a diamond the size of a football.

Exaggerated obviously, but if you have a cool story tell it right!

Wow! Nice finds! I've been wanting a DS Lite for a while now, and the cheapest working condition ones w/o games I can find are $50 or so which I am now starting to consider if I don't come across one soon. For $10 extra bucks, a second DS Lite AND 14 games?? Seriously jealous. I would have been willing to pay like $40 for the games alone...I am not very cheap I s'pose.

I know, one is going to be my bathroom DS. Thats why I offered him an extra 20 to bring it to me then because I took a break and met him next to the bank because afraid someone would offer him something better. I contacted him like within 15 minutes of the post and had it purchased within the hour.
I'd try for $20. $35 isn't bad, though. Is it regular SF2, or Turbo?
From the picture, it looks like it is just SF2. There aren't many good SNES deals around my area unfortunately.

I got this lot for the Wavebird and one or two of the wired controllers. The only game I plan on keeping is Luigi's Mansion. If anyone sees something that might be interested in, feel free to send me a PM. Story in spoilers for those who like to read.

Listing mentioned Gamecube with 5 controllers (3 wired, 2 wireless) and 10 games (most of which were incorrect, ie mario bros 5 for Mario Party 5). After inquiring, I learned that the games basically all had their cases and manuals (listing said all the games were in 2 cases), and that the controllers were official Nintendo brand.

When I met up with the seller, I was both excited and disappointed at the same time. Despite having all the original cases, the games were kept in those shitty CD only holders that can potentially fuck up your discs. There was only one Wavebird, despite the listing saying that there were 2 wireless controllers.

On the plus side, there were an additional 7 games, some memory cards, and a broadband adapter. These don't go for nearly as much as they used to, but I should still be able to re-coup some of my money from it. The games and controllers weren't in too bad of condition after a good cleaning; the Indigo controller feels like it hasn't really ever been used.

There was a random Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay DVD included with the games; no idea why. The Nyko controller got left in one of the boxes for now; wasn't worth cleaning. Other odd things include 2 pairs of hookups, a manual for Sonic Adventure 2 and Crazy Taxi, a USB extension cord, and a metallic nameplate that says "Tommy".

About to go pick up the following for $140:

56 NES games
21 Game Boy games
13 N64 games
5 Lynx games (including a Chess game that is worth around $25 alone)
1 PS1 game

broken NES console
broken Game Boy Color console
Atari Lynx system
Playstation system

plenty of accessories for each system, except for the Lynx. Will post pics when I get home.

img3056c.jpg

He gave me a lot of extra manuals for games that he didn't sell to me...cool.
img3061w.jpg

Not pictured: Golf
img3062v.jpg

Not pictured: 1 more clear case, some sort of cord...
img3066.jpg

Not pictured: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero
img3067.jpg

Those things at the bottom are 2 controller paks and one jump pak.
img3068b.jpg

He told me he didn't have a power cord for the Lynx...I think he forgot about the car charger. Score. Haven't tested it out yet.
img3070.jpg

That chess game is worth around $25 by itself, plus this one comes with the manual so maybe more than $25!
img3071tm.jpg

img3073r.jpg

That stack of games is all back-up games the guy gave me. Around 50 of them. Are they illegal to sell on ebay? Also, the thing at the bottom of the pic is the PS Hacker, which enables the system to play back-up games.

I really, really hope he did just give you those backups, and didn't make you pay for them like other CLers. And no, you can't sell them.

Most certainly NOT

How much should I offer him? I just want an extra 1 to put in my office.. already got one from the Dell deal earlier...

Edit: That guy sold it apparently for his asking price. When I emailed him back to get a discount, he said it's already sold, and the ad's down too.

I paid $150 for a 360, and the games I got with it I can trade in to Gamestop for about $100. I'm pretty cool with that. I bought the 360 to play Lost Odyssey. After I'm done I'll sell it. This website has really helped me look at things in a more direct manner. I did some of this stuff before, but now I have help from everyone else! Thanks guys

wow, someone sanity check me here. on a whim I started looking around yesterday for a Nintendo Wavebird controller and I finally found one on Craigslist. The guy wants $20 for it, which I honestly thought was a little high but then I check out eBay and Amazon and see them going for $40 and up.

so my question to my fellow CAG's: is $20 for a Wavebird/receiver alright?

if it is in good condition it is fine

i've been looking around for one too, so i can play my gamecube games on the wii. i personally am just going to try and wait until i spot one at a yard sale, because $20 for a controller doesnt seem right to me. if i dont find one at a yard sale by the end of the yard sale season here (probably mid-november or earlier) i'll just go out and buy a wired controller for like 5 bucks.

Just had to quote mine. The guy called me yesterday and said he found another game and I could have it if I wanted to pick it up. Nancy Drew.. I actually went and got it. Felt weird going out there being a 26 year old guy going to get Nancy Drew but not going to pass up a free game.

yeah, I'm with you there. $20 for a last-gen controller, wireless or not, just seems crazy to me. of course, Vintage Stock sells them for $35 and that seems to be the going price on eBay so who knows.

I do believe I'll scour the local thrift stores around here prior to settling on one though.

Okay...I'm trying to sell RE5 on CL, I said no sports games please. This kid offers me the following in no particular order or combination: (I have no proof if some of these items are legit but I suspect they are fake)

- a coach keychain
- a coach necklace
- a tiffany silver ring
- a pink tiara pinata
- 2 playboy magazines featuring baywatch babes
- madden 07, nba live 08, and $20
- an energy drink picture frame (wtf)
- glasses...
- a clock which they took the price tag off a pair of glasses and put on for $128
- call of duty 3
- farcry 2

...wow. (i'd show pictures but...why gum up a good thread)

I told the persistent bugger to sell the tiffany ring and just buy the game from me.

Seriously, they took the sticker price tag off a pair of new glasses and put it on the clock to try and trick me into thinking it's $128? LOL, if anyone's been to a Lenscrafter's before and saw the animated Kiosk that says EYEWEB? where you can virtually try on glasses? I designed that...wonders never cease.

The demand for them has sky rocketed ever since GC backwards compatability became widely known. Plus, they're wireless. Alot of people are already used to wireless controllers for this gen.

An Atari Lynx model 2 with 2 games and the box for only $20.

http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/vgm/1394250868.html

I briefly considered inquiring, but to be honest, I can't think of any reason I would want this thing. Games for it via Amazon are too expensive to sink money into this and it'd probably be a $20 paperweight in a week. Still, it beats the $80 price tag the local used store wants for one of these(as if they'd ever sell it for that much). I'm sure one of you in the Cincinnati area might want it, though.
youre comparing a wavebird to the Wii mote... most controllers are worse than that dumbass wiimote.
lol?

Wiimote > You

100xp, how much are you trying to sell Resident Evil on CL for? The guy offered you a couple old sports games plus $20, so I'm thinking it's over $30 at least.

I got a nice gamecube lot through craigslist yesterday.

Gamecube Console
3x Controller
Wavebird Controller
2x Memory Card
Zelda Twilight Princess
Zelda Ocarina of Time/Master Quest
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Mario Golf: Toadstool
Mario Power Tennis
Resident Evil 4
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Sims, Bustin' Out
Tony Hawk's Underground 2
Fifa Soccer 06
MLB Slugfest 04
Spiderman 2
Metroid Prime

All for a total of $50!

I ended up trading in everything but the Wavebird and two Zelda games to gamestop and got $60 cash, so I got all of my money back plus the money spent on gas. So I essentially got those for free!

leftwing, you could have gotten so much more for that stuff! (although it would have taken more time/work)

really? I didn't think the games I brought to gamestop were worth much (i compared TIV to amazon, BB, and TRU) and even ebay prices werent very good for them. Unless there were games in that lot that are worth more than I thought..

I still have the Wavebird, Zelda TP, and Zelda OT/MQ which if i put on ebay would get $60-70 total.

Well I think you could have sold the console with 3 controllers/mem cards for around $35 or $40, Super Smash Bros. Melee you could have gotten another $5 to $10 from. And around $3 for each of the remaining games, $30. So somewhere between $70 and $80. Sorry I guess I didn't really think out the math...

Just got the following Wii games:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mario/Sonic at the Olympic Games
NBA Live 08
Wii Play
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Mario Party 8
Mario Kart (no wheel)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Super Mario Galaxy
Resident Evil the Umbrella Chronicles

TOTAL: $70

All complete with manuals/cases. Barely any scratches on all disks. Like new condition.

^nice

I had an epic find today...

A PS3 Console (complete with hookups and controller) for $50!!

It was broken.. but after a few hours with it open, I fixed it and it works perfectly!

I think Backwards compatibility has always been known, They were a dime a dozen untill smash brothers came out, no one wanted to play that with a wiimote.

Leftwing is on a roll. Saw something that piqued my interest, but I dunno if I should bite or not:

Nintendo DS in "Great condition" with 10 games: "The games are hotel dusk, sim city ds, age of empires, tony hawk american skateland, tony hawk downhill jam, feel the magic, mlb 2k7, shrek crash crat and mario kart ds"

I e-mailed the seller and asked what kind of DS it was and if the games came with cases. Seller says it's a Grey Phat and no to the game cases. I offered $60 and he said he'd take it.

I don't really care about the lack of game cases as I'd just sell them all off anyways; I could make $30 bucks back off them easily, right? I'd be fine with a DS for $30...

Yeah, I would go for it. If you're lucky like sleepydumbdude it might turn out to be a DS Lite, which would definitely make the deal. And if it's an original, still a pretty good deal - and I think you could make back around $40 with the games, so $20 for the system is good.
