The Official Fry's Clearance Thread

Update 11/01/09: I have been filtering out a lot of games that do not exist on the website anymore and removed many of the games that have jumped up to a normal price again. Many of the clearance games are starting to make their way out of Fry's system and some are making them back in but at a more standard price, for example $19.80 now. So if you don't see a clearance game on this list but you have seen it before, and if you go to the store and see it marked up at a much higher price now, it would be appreciated if you can post your finds and let me know. I am just trying to get an idea how the pattern works because as of right now, it is very inconsistent, and every little bit of help is great. Thanks everybody

Update 10/23/09: Lot's of the clearance games are beginning to get phased off the website in order to make room for the upcoming games coming in for the holiday season. I will leave them on the list for the time being, and if they still aren't there next week, I'll start taking off games that aren't listed anymore to keep the list cleaner.

After getting the okay from Guinaevere, I present to everyone the official Fry's clearance thread.

I just wanted to thank sinksand as well as others who put forth the work the previous Fry's clearance thread. Thanks everybody.

This list is just a preliminary list. Most of the games that I picked out from the list, the majority of them are listed on the website. There are also many games that are not listed on the website that I have seen in stores that are also on this list, so if you find a game on your receipt you got from Fry's that was on clearance and it's not on this list, it would be appreciated if you can post it here (and the locations for the benefits of fellow CAGs),and I will do my best to update the list.

You may also notice that this list does not include most of the previous gen console games yet nor does this list include pc games or accessories yet, so I will try and get them up as soon as possible.

Nice thread OP.

I passed by my local Fry's a couple of days ago and didn't see much in stock. I did see Enchanted Arms but it was tagged at $34.99. It also had a shelf tag in front of it with the $34.99 price. This copy of EA comes with a comic book so I'm unsure if this is the version that is on clearance. I would've tried to have them check the price at the register but the line was pretty long (as it usually is).

Also, I tried doing an in-store pick up but it is "unavailable" at that store. Does anyone know if it would ring up at the clearance price? Any help would be appreciated.

I frequent the Alpharetta, GA location, and while there are some good deals, the clearance shelf usually has higher sticker prices. I'm not one to take a bunch of games up and ask them to check the price, so my question is this:

are some stores just slack in marking the games down, or are the stickers fairly reliable?

I'm going to make a Fry's run today, so if I see anything else, I'll post.

I've been to the Milton/alph Fry's a few times, make sure to not just look in the clearance section-I found tons of clearance DS games with all the other games.

Yeah, I don't trust Fry's to honor most of the online prices, unless you got it online. I've been in the situation multiple times, where the store price was higher than the online price, and when I went up to the register, I had to pay whatever the store price was listed at.

Also, this entire thread is YMMV. Because by the time most of these games hit $10 or under, they are gone, completely. And, as far as I can tell (I also shop @ the Concord, CA store), they never restock games that are on clearance, and once they are gone, they are gone for good. A few months ago, they actually shifted all the mechandise in the game section, and actually made it smaller. Now PC games, and PS2 games have the most space on the shelves.

I shop at the SF Bay Area Fry's. For me, usually the online prices do match the store prices. Some Fry's mark their games the current drop prices some don't. Therefore, you gotta check the prices online before you are at Fry's or check it on your phone while at Fry's.

If you really want a game that is on clearance, it is better to just buy it and price adjust towards the end of the 30 day return period.

D'oh! I thought the price drops had stopped at Fry's because I didn't see the clearance threads pop up in my subscribed threads. But then I just realized I never subscribed to this new one .

It is painful to see all the drops I may not be able to get price adjustments for. But perhaps I can get a few for the console games. They seemed to imply specifically it was just the DS games that were "one of a kind" and thus excluded from price adjustment .

Of course I tried to go there Sunday night to check on things but the dufus who answered their phone earlier on Sunday told me they were open till 8pm. So I got there at 7:30 only to find they were closed. Bastard .

I am also from the Bay Area, and the Concord Fry's is my local Fry's and I also have been to the Fry's in Fremont too. Both of them the prices were set in the system, regardless of it was marked correctly or not. I know Fry's in the past before for me had a very hard time matching online prices since it never changed to reflect the in store price, but as of the last month and a half, all the online prices have been ringing up in the system in store as the same price, so it doesnt matter if they want to honor the mistagged price or not, if its ringing up at that price, they have to sell it at that price.

I have never even had a problem bringing any of these back to get it adjusted when it drops online because the system in store automatically drops with it. I used to hate shopping at Fry's because I ran into the same situations you did, but all of the online prices I have found have been the exact same in the store when I went to pick up the games. So no problems with these two stores at least.

YMMV normally means that specific stores may not be offering you this price, not if its in stock at your store. And as far as all the experiences I have ran into shopping at different Fry's as of recently and everyone else who have been in the previous thread and this thread, these prices are not YMMV but are the same prices for every store.

Yeah, I am currently working on the previous gen list still. There's just so many of them on clearance...well, pretty much the majority of them listed are on clearance, so taking some time. And they dropped again this past weekend, so making it harder, lol. I'll get it done though soon.

I am pretty sure this thread is making competition much tougher for these games than they were a couple of weeks ago. I don't have a problem with it, I just have to get there pretty quickly after the drops to make sure I can get them. My point? The 20 some copies of Code Lyoko and Showtime Boxing suddenly disappeared after hanging around for a while. This thread is definitely getting the word out. And a thanks to Squarehead for being so on top of keeping this updated.

The sticker prices are most likely outdated and haven't had the correct prices applied. Take the games along with the price list in this topic up to the checkout stand and have them pricecheck and verify.

Well, you must be a very lucky boy, because whatever price the game says on it, is the price that they quote me. I even asked to talk to a manager about it once, and he told me that even if it rings up as a different price, that his employees are required to sell it at the price on the package, unless told otherwise by the management. So, I assume that their system still has bugs in it. Because I tried to pick up a copy of Eternal Sonata for the PS3 which is supposed to be $20. And, it rang up as $45, and that is what I had to pay for it.

Whats with the hostility here. I tried to tell you my experience and how it has been for me, so not sure why you are responding like a jerk about it. Ive worked in retail for many years, and I have never even heard such a thing where if it was mistagged, they can't sell it to you if it rings up for that price. If it was priced lower, and came out higher, I could understand that, but not sure what the manager you dealt with logic was. And if you actually read my post, I have had the same issues with Fry's in the past as well, but since then I have never had any problem, and nor have any other person who have been in these threads, except you, so not sure why you are trying to single me out. I've been visiting all the Fry's regularly now because of these great clearance prices. Depending on which Fry's you shop at, the games can be mistagged with a higher price, you should just check this thread for the drops so you don't miss any clearance games you wanted. Since we now have this official Fry's clearance thread and endless lurkers, go and get those games ASAP once they hit your target price!

Picked up Suikoden Tierkreis from the Austin, TX Frys for $17.14. They had 2 copies left and I bought one of them.

A few others I remember seeing are Dawn of Discovery DS and Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.

I also saw about 5 copies of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World for Wii on clearance for around $29.

Their shelves were pretty empty since the last time I had been there early in the summer.

There used to be good prices on PC games, but this time I really didn't see any except for Xpand Rally/some other racing game two pack for 6ish bucks. There were alot less choices than in the past as Fry's used to be a good place to get more obscure games when they'd hit a cheap price.

Fry's in Duluth has clearance guides, however, yesterday they were all in a cart by the door with a sign hanging on it which said something like store #38 to #82 from section 32. The clearance guide section was completely empty. I had glanced at them before and most were labeled around 9.99. I was going to go back and look more thoroughly, but not now I guess as I guess they are transferring them to another store.

How often do clearance prices drop? It's funny as I rarely paid attention to Fry's clearance because most stuff I saw would get a small reduction and NEVER drop again. Did something change? And what's up with all the random numbers? I can't tell what's clearance because of all the .xx variations. I like how with GH:WT that the PS3 version is 9.90 and the 360 version is 44.40!

My copy of Socom finally came in from the other store, so I picked it up and also did an adjustment on my receipt. Almost paid for the Socom in adjustments, and I'm happy I got in kind of late to the 20.XX price point. Most certaintly will be able to adjust it at least once.

I'm wondering if I should do a pickup of Suikoden now that it hit 17. If I can adjust it down to 12.XX by the end of the 30 days, I'd be happy with that price.

EDIT: Speaking of Socom, the site is showing the mic bundle to be at 14.XX
