Anyone's tilt sensor a bit busted and not working very well?
Well, you're flat out wrong, and yes, I am discounting your worthless opinion.

Anyway, yeah, mine's a bit wonky, but then again, my guitar is pretty darn beat up.

I care about as much as I care about Bono helping starving children in africa.

The fact remains that the game is not a 9.5. And that's not an opinion. You can fanboy jizz over it all you want, it won't change that fact. I think Guitar Hero 2 is a damn kickass game (That's an opinion, which you so want to discount... in your own words), but that's not gonna make me ignore how much this game is a ripoff or how they've overlooked some fundamental gameplay flaws.

The guitar hero series is perfect, enough replay value and challenge that makes you play it months and even years after. I rarely ever pick up a game more than twice after i beat it but ive been picking up guitar hero on and off every week or so.

So yes, it deserves the 9.5 in my opinion, and thats not from me being a fanboy. It's actually fun, and most games lack that.

I'll bite, and play the semantic game. What makes this a "fact" and not an "opinion"?

Why don't you explain yourself instead of coming here to start crap?

explain what, I'm pretty sure that statement was self explanatory. =p

though I love how evanft had to mention that he has me on ignore just to grow his e-penis ;), even though u know when you ignore somone, you don't even talk about it =p...

Does anyone here play guitar/bass for real and enjoy this game? I can't help but think to myself, why buy this when I could be playing the real thing on bass? My favorite song in this game would be John the Fisherman by Primus, but I can play that on bass. So why buy this and play this song fakely (if that made any sense)? So enlighten my on why to buy this.

BTW, I saw a video for Buckethead - Jordan and goddamn that song is played fast! The best part about this song is the track used in GH is a studio recording, Buckethead never recorded a studio track for this song, only ever did it live. Kudos to that!

Sorry if any of this has been discussed, but I'm not about to go through 28 pages.

Well... even if you play guitar or bass, you do not have a band at your disposal all the time let alone one that can play these songs... and it's addictive to try and get high scores and shit.

That and myke's question.
www.scorehero.com

Try it out. It's fun!
Pretty cool site. The only problem with it, though it's has to do more with the game than the site, is that I can't see the % and streaks from my previos high scores on the game since I didn't document them, but it gives me another reason to go through the game again to document what I can. Thanks for the cool link. It sucks that you can't use their little rank sig until you get a certain amount of contribution points.

Will the wireless controller only be available from RedOctane? I'd like to try to save a bit of money on it and get it maybe through Amazon or something at least (no shipping or tax).

I am REALLY torn. I don't NEED 3 guitars. I'd LIKE a wireless one, so I'm tempted to just get the GHII game only... (my GH1 guitar is fine) But then people have mentioned the GHII guitars are a bit better-- is there an explanation of the differences/tweaks made? I'd assume the wireless would be just as good design-wise, although I'm afraid if for some reason the wireless part sucks, I'd be out even MORE money getting a wired one later.

(I.e., if I buy GHII game only on faith, trying to save a few bucks, I'm afraid it's possibly going to cost me MORE if the wireless one doesn't pan out well)

also, does anyone have an ETA on the availability of the wireless one? All I can see anywhere is "November" which doesn't totally help- it'd be nice if it were later in the month to help out my credit card...

(sorry if these questions have been answered, I skimmed some of the thread and did a search but didn't see anything)

It was in the EB book of preorderable stuff, so I'd guess that you at least have EB/GS to get one from. Check amazon's website and see if they have it in their inventory and you'll have your answer.

As for improvements of the Cherry guitar over the original guitar, there was an explanation a few pages back but I can't find it at the moment. You can check if you want, just use the thread search at the top of this page or just look through the pages. Maybe someone else can post it again if they know where it is.

It should be out this week alongside the game, according to EB.

I'm really looking forward to grabbing this from Meijer Tuesday morning. Getting the game/guitar bundle for 60 will be amazing.

More responsive fret buttons, tighter strum bar and a stronger whammy bar.

If there's one thing I have to say that's missing for GH, and GHII from the screens I've seen, it's that there's no progress bar that lets you know how far into the song you are. It's all too common that I have SP to use and the song ends before I thought it would and waste the star power I saved up. This feature was in their previous games, so I'm not sure why they left it out here. Hopefully GHIII has that feature.

Speaking of GHIII, with the inclusion of fictional bands in GHII, I'd like to see Beck/Mongolian Chop Squad in the sequel as they'd fit the game perfectly.

Also, I have joined evan in my ignorance... err, something like that.

In this week's sunday paper there is an insert of Meijer coupons that are good one day only. There is one good tomorrow that is 20 off any game 49.99 or up.

1 more day to go!!

Sounds crazy, but I'm going to work at 6am to pick this up. My manager has about 3-4 hours of stuff to do before the store opens, and he said I could get the bundle when he came in at 6am. Gotta get some play time in before my classes and my shift at work that night.

on a sidenote, I miss Meijer.

Can any of you guys who get the bundle let me know if the game is sealed? I've got the game only version since I wanted GH2 early, but I need to replace my guitar... so I was planning on returning the supposedly sealed copy in the bundle and hanging onto my current one.

I fail to see how people can ALREADY be making the "fanboy" argument for this series...the second game isn't even out yet!

And I, too, would like to hear this explanation for "fundamental gameplay flaws"...I can't think of a game that this is a worse description for.

I actually agree with not including that. To some extent, they're trying to make you feel like you're actually in a band, performing these songs...and performers become familir enough with their songs that they just know what to do. Are you telling me, at this point, you still don't know when most songs in GH1 are going to end?

If its anything like GH1, its sealed, but it doesn't have the stickers on it that the standalone retail would. Just get yourself a new guitar...if you're lucky you may be able to find one sued somewhere...

Thanks for the pics EvanFT

So does this mean I have to play through all the difficulties this time around? (to get all the guitars). I hate playing on Medium :)

Saw a bum playing this at the Best Buy on Broadway, NY (not being mean, he was literally a bum, but looked like Jimi Hendrix). He was rocking "Free Bird" and that totally convinced me to want this game. I heard this was coming out for 360. Is it best just to wait for that version? I don't like getting major accessories for a system at the end of its life. Is anyone else passing on this to get 360?

For the songs I've really enjoyed and know very well, yes. For the rest that I'm not that familiar with, I get caught with a half bar or more of star power and wish there was some cue. Playing through the bonus songs last night, I did that way too often, considering I had never touched most of them before.

There doesn't even need to be a bar, just something that appears on the scrolling board that tells me I've played through 25%, 50%, or 75% of the song or maybe even smaller intervals. The devs have shown that they're all about helping people get better at the game with the practice mode and all, so this just fits right in to help them when they're trying to get to know the songs they're not familiar with.

I'd rather get the game now than wait 4-6 months more just to play it. Hell, I'd consider buying both depending on what they add to that version in the next few months. Then again, maybe by the time that comes out, they'll announce GHIII for the PS3 and PS2, or something like that.

If you just can't wait until tomorrow, I just picked up the Guitar Hero 2 bundle @ Gamerush (Blockbuster). The guy said the street date was tomorrow, but he was able to ring it through the system. He said the boxes were taking up too much space in the back and had about 5 of them out on the counter. Obviously YMMV. Good Luck!

Every ten completed CAREER songs (as in not bonus songs) in Coop mode nets you another bass guitar. I've only gotten one extra one, but I'd assume there are five new ones, making a total of six bass guitars to chose from.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunely there are no Gamerush's in my area, all are just regular Blockbuster Videos.

I'm going to hit up Target tomorrow at 8am when they open, hoping they have the game-only copies of the game.

Also thanks Z-Saber for the info about unlocking the basses.

Cool, my copy of GHII (along with my kickass free GHII t-shirt) came in the mail today. My friend and I rocked co-op for a bit (he mostly played Bass or Rhythm guitar, while I was usually playing Lead), and then we tried Trogdor on Expert. How hard could it be, right? Needless to say, we got our asses kicked by it. We're nubs.
Grow a pair.
Eh, there might be a legitimate reason for wanting a full unlock code. Perhaps he's running a tournament and cant use a memory card. Perhaps his memory card was banished to the abyss by a circle of evil druids. Perhaps the card slot has become the personal home of one Mr Demon McMakeYouNotSave.

But, yeah, he's probably just a wuss.

It is finally Tuesday.

I leave to go vote and then hang out in front of EB until they open in about 20 minutes.

I haven't been this hyped for a game in a long long time.

TROOGGGGDOOORRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

That's the worst song ever made, but damn.... I'm glad they put it in the game.

So is there any design change to the new guitar? I just busted mine out and it seems by holding down the strum bar it is registering as more than one strum?
Is it broken? =[
Read back in the thread, por favor.
Ok, so then does "tigher strum bar" design change = "holding strum bar down registers as multiple strums"

Thankfully not. Returned my copy to Gamestop and the new one doesn't have the problem.
So i guess watch out for the issue with yours.

On another note mentioned earlier, I can confirm that Hammer ons and pull offs are ALOT easier to get right in GH2, fer sure.
