I'm not gonna bother having a big board here, because I won't be able to update it through the day tommorrow, since I'll be working it. If someone else wants to do that though, that would be awesome.

So, I was listening to the radio today, and every year, the morning show around here does a Mock Draft, and they have Mike Morris, former Vikings longsnapper, pick the Vikings pick. Well, he's been right like, 7 years in a row, and this year, he has them taking LaRon Landry. At first, I was kinda peeved by that, since the Vikings need offensive help, and I wouldn't mind seeing Adrian Peterson in purple. But I checked out a couple Landry highlight videos on Youtube, and the guy is an absolute stud. I knew he was a great player, but I had no idea he was such a ferocious hitter. He looks like he has Ed Reed's cover skills, with Roy Williams hitting power. So basically, I'll be happy if my squad takes either guy. I also wouldn't mind them trading down, getting a second 2nd round pick, and picking up a DE like Carriker or Jamal Anderson, then using both 2nd round picks on wide receivers.
 
What's the line on the Browns taking someone who lasts more than three years in the league in the first round?

I'm ready to see what round the middle linebacker Patrick Willis from my school, University of MIssissippi, will be drafted.

he's supposedly the #1 middle linebacker in the country
 
I was hoping that STL would take Ted Ginn Jr in the middle of the 1st and then take Troy Smith later on. Smith is severly underated as a QB and in my opinion is going to be a steal for someone.

They picked up Hall from KC the other day though so that pretty much wipes out the Ted Ginn choice.

Calvin Johnson's considered a can't miss and many think he has a chance of being one of the best WRs ever. Obviously the Lions don't really need another WR, and given their past success with WRs in the first round, it sounds foolish. But, in reality, it would be foolish for them to pass on him. Plus, they can always trade him after they draft him... if the offer is right.

I'm a Browns fan and I'm not 100% sold on either Quinn or Peterson. I would actually prefer if they pick Joe Thomas personally.
 
I originally had the Browns picking Peterson, but with the recent injury concerns, I changed it to Quinn.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if they go with Thomas. Quinn's not guaranteed to be great NFL quarterback, and they still have Frye.

texans will trade down tomorrow but if they don't i expect them to take darelle revis. I like him better than leon hall b/c of his ball skills/size/return game. But, Hall has better coverage though.
 
I HATE it whenever someone says something like "Well, Mike Williams and Charles Rogers flopped, so why would the Lions take Calvin Johnson?" What does the talent and ability of those 2 stiffs have to do with Calvin Johnson? Absolutely nothing at all. You don't just pass up on the best player in the draft, because you took a weed smoker and a fat flake in previous drafts.
 
Well, if you keep taking WRs in the first round every year, you're not addressing other needs. It doesn't matter how talented Johnson is if they don't have a QB, RB, O-Line, or any defense to speak of.

Anyway it's all a moot point since the Bucs will most likely trade with the Lions to move-up and get him.

I agree, but I think most people who don't want Detroit to take another WR is because that's one of the few positions they're relatively strong in already. They NEED a young QB or defense, not a WR.

Of course, I'd still take CJ in a heart beat. Apparently Detroit is getting really good offers for that #2 pick, assuming CJ is still available. From what I heard (take it for what you will), the Steelers offered their 1st and 2nd this year AND 1st and 2nd next year. Detroit asked for more and the Steelers dropped out.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surpised at all to see Detroit make a move with somebody who really wants CJ (Tampa, Atlanta, ect.)

Yeah good point. Even though Detroit's bunch of first round WRs are (comparatively) considered flops, they are still pretty strong. Another factor is the reaction from the Detroit fans and media who (I assume) don't want to see them take another WR.

It should be interesting to see how everything plays out tomorrow.
 
Drafting for need, and not taking the best player available, is dangerous. The Vikings did that in 2005, after they traded Moss. They drafted for need, took Troy Williamson, and he has been a colossal bust. I'm not saying the Lions should take CJ, but I wouldn't second guess them if they did. How good would their offense be with Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, and Mike Furrey in the slot, with a decent QB like Kitna? Plus, I think the Lions still believe they can build up Dan Orlovsky into an NFL quarterback.

I just hope the Bucs don't give away too much to get him. I mean, he's got tremendous potential, but Tampa is an old team and their two second round picks (which would probably be part of a Detroit/TB trade) could go a long way.

If I were the Bucs GM, I'd really consider my 1st and both 2nds for the #2. Though, like you said, those 2nd rounders would be really useful. I'd try to do my 1st and higher 2nd or 1st, lower 2nd, and 3rd/4th.

I really love what the 49ers are doing on both sides of the ball. Carriker is great fit at the 3-4 DE position as he's very stout against the run and some pass rush ability as well. i think they're playoff team next year and you heard it first. 49ers are ROLLIN' WITH NOLAN!

What pick did Denver trade up to? And I agree if they get Jackson that is a great trade but I disagree with the love you give or Nolan I think the front office is doing a good job but if you watch every Niner game they had serious play calling issues last year and Nolan is way to conservative.
 
I really hope the Skins don't f this draft up. Either take Okoye (or Adams if he falls to 6) or trade for second and third round picks or a later first rounder. But it's the Redskins so I'm sure it won't be that simple...
 
Oakland is dumb. They should have taken Johnson as Russell looks like he has Akili Smith written all over him.

There are a lot of good QB's out there they could have gotten to tide them over. Plummer and Bledsoe immediately come to mind. Plummer probably would have jumped at the chance and TB probably would have given him up for cheap.
