The Official NFL Draft Thread

Great trade for the Patriots, they traded #28 this year for SF's 1st next year and a 4th. That pick could be top 10, certainly will be top 20. Plus, this is a draft where between 20 and 40 are fairly similar.

uh the greg olsen one wasnt hard dude, he had a bears hat on before the chargers even had their pick in, good call on Alex though

i knew it before the after the chargers pick and thanks for the props on Gonzo

Now that the bills traded up, im guessing houston since they didnt take a CB the first time around(thankfully :))

edit: they took paul. man i really thought chris would go in quite a few spots, i give up! lol

Im happy with results overall, a top prospect CB and Jones for what would have been 5th pick 2nd round. Ill see how the rest turns out later.

This day ended up great for the 49ers, i'm fine with giving up the next year's first, we would've drafted a OT anyways.

Willis, Staley, i'm really hoping for the 49ers to draft Sidney Rice, this kid has huge potential.

The Bills select Poluzsnkeyoaisdioasjdoiasdja from Penn St.

Don't sleep on Dwayne Jarret, speed doesn't make everything, he'll be a very good slot reciever.

i'm not too impressed with houston. I think he's a workout warrior and he's like Ahmed Carroll (who got lit up in the MNF game against the Eagles IIRC and got CUT the day later). He doesn't have much ball skills at all (3 ints and no FF or FR really) and he needs to be in scheme with press coverage. I think Houston needs to work on his technique skills as well. I rather have guys like Eric Wright or Marcus McCauley, which both are still on the board, than Houston.
I don't see how anyone can be a fan of the Redskins. They are like the New York Yankees, except without the winning.
I hate the owner (Dan Snyder), but I'll always be loyal to the Skins.

yea the owner is fucking dumbass but glad you're still loyal to them.

Eric Weddle is great pick for the Bolts. He just makes PLAYS and very versatile secondary player.

I thought we made out by trading that no 5 2nd round pick for Jones but Bears got the bang for it too

also houston finally picked for falcons

I think the Fins made a good move by taking Beck instead of Quinn. I still think taking Ginn with the 9th overall pick was a waste though.
Joe Staley to the Gold Miners (49ers). I love this kid as a LT for protecting Alex Smith

ROLLIN' WITH NOLAN!!!
A soon to be fellow CMU alum too! Not that I knew him though. I stopped hanging around Chippewa football players when they started killing people... the really f'd up part is Jerry Seymour probably would've been in the NFL now, isntead he's in jail.
I hope Denver picks up Michael Bush if he's still around with their next pick.
As long as he is healthy, he'd be a steal.
As long as he is healthy, he'd be a steal.
Exactly. Denver doesn't need him to be a big contributor right away, but he fits the Denver system and can be a big help as a third down back.

I hope Jason Hill is there for the Texans in the 3rd round. He has like 4 to 1 Catches to TD ratio. That is pretty impressive and he has good size and speed for a complement to Andre Johnson at the 2nd WR
With the Vikings picking Adrian Peterson and Sidney Rice, I think it's safe to say they will be playing in the Super Bowl within 50 years.
It'll be Cleveland v Minnesota, but by then, our neighbors to the north will have overthrown our government and they'll be playing Canadian rules.

Nice! I knew there had to be another Die-Hard Vikings fan here!
I'd LOVE to see us MAKE the NFC Championships within 40 years after last season :p

Props to the Bears for picking up another RB in Wolfe. Another hard-hitting back will be an advantage if Rex is going to be shakey again this season.

Who's this Arkansas OT the Colts traded a first rounder next year for and a 4th rounder this year? Quite surprising since Polian likes having draft picks.

He'll be the replacement for either Glenn or Diem. He's a sold pass protector but needs to work on his run blocking. Also, if you play a lineman position, you got to have some aggression and he doesn't have much if any. Plus the Colts 1st round pick is going to be low like bottom 8 low in next years draft.
Just want to let you all know that the 49ers are going to DOMINATE!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
i have the 49ers and the packers to be playoff teams this year. I like both teams improvements and especially with the 49ers. ROLLIN' WITH NOLAN!!!

I really hope the 49ers play good and capture the division title, which seems very very likely this year. Hopefully they get a steal at WR, not sure who Jason Hill is.

EDIT: Looks like a trade has been made to get Darrell Jackson, may be good opposite Antonio Bryant
Props to the Bears for picking up another RB in Wolfe. Another hard-hitting back will be an advantage if Rex is going to be shakey again this season.
Garrett Wolfe is a slasher, he's not a "hard-hitting back".
The Patroits will be a force next year....

might as well head to the 2008 draft now
Yeah, if the Patriots don't glide to a Super Bowl, I'll be shocked. The only thing that could stop them is a Brady injury, and even then, Belichick will probably fine some ex-pool cleaner to come in and be MVP. Honestly, it seems like every year, the Patriots find a way to outsmart everyone in the off-season, and all the other teams are powerless to stop them. Only the Raiders would have the balls to make an already dominant team so much better.

I dont think you can really say any team will glide to the Super Bowl.

Playoffs, sure. However once the playoffs start, anything can happen.

Im sure most people were thinking the patriots were going to glide into the Super Bowl with a huge lead over the Colts in the AFC championship game as well...

So the 110 pick the Pats traded for Moss, was the one that they got from SF for the first round pick.

So in review:

Pats Gave: 28th pick in 1st round.
Pats Got: 49ers 1st round pick next year & Randy Moss.
