The Official PlayStation Vita Thread - 11/4: FW 3.00 Coming Just in Time for the PS4 Launch!

Two more Vita games that Sony forgot to list: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. JAW will be posting a bunch of screenshots for both tomorrow.

Saw it somewhere yesterday.
Thanks for the information--
I'm really hoping that this is the GOOD version of Need For Speed: Most Wanted coming to the PS Vita, and not the awful PSP-exclusive version that was complete garbage. I loved the original Most Wanted game, as it was one of my favorite games for my original Xbox when I owned one.
I'm hoping it's more like the original and less like Hot Pursuit.

I want to be able to buy my own cars and customize them, etc.

I'm glad to finally see something coming out of E3 in regards to Vita. I was a bit worried after the Press Conference. I absolutely love the system and hope for it to do well but it didnt seem like the case when it was ignored during the show. At least this continues to give me some hope as there are several of the games listed that I will be picking up.

As a Vita owner, the news coming out of E3 thus far is mega-fucking-underwhelming, to say the least. "Hey, FFVII is coming!" shouldn't be a *highlight* of the event.

Piecemeal compatibility is a problem of consoles, not a feature. The trickle of PSP games and minis each week isn't something to crow about, it's a problem they need to step up and fix.

Though the lesson learned from Xbox 360 is "consumers simply won't care after awhile," I suppose.

It's just pitiful that the best news about the system is that a game from 1996 will soon be playable on a system from 2012, in the same style and format that it can currently be played on *right now* on the system's 2005 predecessor.

People getting stoked about this is remarkable, to me at least.

Yeah I feel the same way.

Wish there were more games to play on the system.

I'm taking solace in the fact that Sony said there are 60 games coming "within the year". Naturally, as we get closer to Gamescom they'll be announced/previewed. E3 has slowly been dying...too much hollywood. It's a known fact that it costs developers and publishers a good chunk of money to be in E3, then there's the time spent working on builds solely for this show.

By the way, from Tretton himself:

“The great news for the Vita fans there’s already 40+ new games for a platform that’s four months old there’s 60 new games coming so we’ll have over a hundred new full-blown games within the first year.”

Another quote, this time from Shuhei Yoshida on Vita:

"We have 25 new games on the show floor, playable during E3. And many of them are fantastic-looking games. We could have shown more during the press conference, but I observed that the PR team’s one big focus was to make the conference shorter this year. We have been criticised for having a long conference in the past. So this year’s focus was let’s make it very compact and impactful. If you really look for new information for PS Vita games coming out this year and early next year, we totally under-represented that."

Obviously Sony is trying to save face with the Move, but I would have demoed that for 2 minutes and then went onto the Vita...regardless, reports are coming in that the Vita has a large presence on the showroom floor.

Software sells hardware. The problem with Vita is there is not one single game that is a MUST play, or cannot be enjoyed more on a big screen and PS3. Even Asassins creed and COD will obviously be better on the PS3

The Assassin's Creed game looked jaggy as all get out. I hope they can polish that up a lot. I'm really disappointed at this point, should have waited to buy. Sony needs to step up and give something to early adopters, I can't believe there's still no mention of remote play when hackers have the capability already. I'll be happy when the holiday season rolls around, but until then, what a drag.

Personal opinion. I thoroughly enjoy HSG, which I didn't enjoy nearly as much on the PS3. Unit 13 was interesting, but the lack of online multiplayer turned me off. Gravity Rush releases next week, and that is DEFINITELY an experience that can't be had on the PS3...

For me, the Vita can get all the ports it wants, so long as they are solid. That was the sole purpose of me purchasing a Vita; to play console games where ever I want. Naturally new and unique IPs will be nice, but I want to enjoy those console games in the palm of my handle and not be tethered to my living room/HDTV.

The AC3 game isn't the same game as the PS3 version.

I agree. They really needed to show a must-have title. Bioshock would have been nice. Sony seems to be focusing on quantity which is only helpful if you have some AAA titles in the list.

I'd like to see:

Monster Hunter Vita
PSO2 (US version)
God of War Vita
Ratchet Vita
Jak and Daxter Vita
Burnout Vita

Hopefully within the next year we'll get some of those titles.

It would be nice to have PSone support and remote play. Remote play feature could be used as a critical marketing point to sell the vita. It's just the the Wii U... but better!

You are getting burnout vita. Supposedly criterion just made most wanted into the spirtual sequel to burnout paradise

whoever it was ranting like a crazy man that Sony.would make us buy PS1 games we already own just for vita, again you are wrong, now confirmed by IGN.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/08/e3-2012-introducing-escape-plans-newest-dlc

Details on the new Escape Plan DLC that will be out next week:
PlayStation Vita has only been on the market for a few months and doesn’t yet have a robust catalog of games. But when you examine the great titles that are already out there, from Super Stardust Delta to Uncharted: Golden Abyss, another game quickly joins the conversation: Escape Plan.

Fun Bits Interactive delivered a quirky, enjoyable but slightly flawed puzzler with Escape Plan, and the small team there still toils over its flagship Vita product to this very day. Patch 1.01, which launched some time ago, fixed some common complaints about the game, from the finicky nature of the “gesture” system to some more subtle balancing issues. Free DLC was also delivered, giving gamers some more puzzles to mess around with.

Now, Fun Bits and Sony are prepared to launch new epilogue DLC in the form of The Asylum. 18 brand-new stages complement a variety of new additions, including seven fresh Efficiency Challenges and unlockable costumes for Lil and Laarg. A new patch – version 1.02 – is also on the horizon, which makes additional fixes to the core game, previous DLC and the experience of playing Escape Plan at large (no pun intended). The DLC and the patch go live on the same day.

The Asylum DLC adds new enemy types called Shock Minions that prove to be a different sort of enemy than Escape Plan fans may be accustomed to. The padded walls of the Asylum muffle the back touch pad used to distract enemies, meaning that you often have to put Lil and Laarg in danger to coerce them into positions where obstacles around you can lay the killing blow. Shock Minions’ innate electrical abilities can also be used to charge special items in the environment.

Though the DLC levels start out slow and easy, things will crescendo significantly, and the Shock Minions will continue to be a part of the puzzles as they get more and more difficult. All of this is in addition to the typical Minions you dealt with in your campaign against Bakuki, so prepare for some tough enemies to both avoid and slay in equally tough puzzles.

What’s most notable to me, however, is that when I sat down with Fun Bits Interactive’s CEO Chris Millar to talk about the new Escape Plan DLC, I was refreshed by his approach not only to crafting DLC, but to patching his game. Fun Bits keeps a careful eye on metrics that are sent to them when you’re playing the game with your Vita connected to the PlayStation Network. If they see spikes in, say, deaths on a certain puzzle or an unreal amount of gestures being used on another, they go in and tweak things until those spikes disappear. None of this takes away from what makes Lil and Laarg’s adventure so special. It just makes their adventure better.

That’s worth noting because when Fun Bits Interactive learns lessons like these, it evolves its collective philosophy which shows through in its Asylum DLC. And though The Asylum is being announced for the first time right here, right now, it’s very close on the horizon. On Tuesday, June 12th, you’ll be able to download the game at a steep discount off of the PlayStation Network. Following that, the DLC pack will be adjusted to its regular price of $4.99.
So is the DLC being discounted or the game itself?
Yeah, that was ambiguous to me, as well.

On a related note, it's about time Sony started dropping prices in the PSN store. LEGO Harry Potter 5-7 on Vita is now $19.99 MSRP in stores, but still full price online. Get with the program, Sony.

I generally agree with that statement, but that specific title actually *did* get a price drop to $19.99 on the PS Store this past Tuesday.

My guess is that they want the ammo to "leak" news about these titles in burst that way there's always something new coming to vita.

If true, that's a bit disheartening. I was hoping for a reboot of the original Most Wanted.

My vita may be dead. I left it on charge for an extended period and then it was taken off for a few days. Went to use it today and it won't power on. Been on charge for hours and nothing. Ideas?

I've noticed my Vita lock up once in a great while. Try holding down the power button (on the top left) for 10-20 seconds and let go. If it doesn't turn back on, try pressing it again for ~10 seconds and hopefully it will restart.

Tried that. I'm on a different outlet now, will try again in a few hours.

Yea- make sure the PS logot is facing up on the charger. Sounds dumb but I plugged mine in backwards the first day I had it and experienced a similar issue.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012...ape-plan-the-asylum-dlc-released-for-2-cents/

The Escape Plan sale is actually just the new Asylum DLC for $0.25, so the IGN writer's article was just poorly-written.

It’s an insane time for Escape Plan, as we have a ton of new content launching for everyone this week: The Asylum DLC arrives for just 25 cents, Patch 1.02 goes live, five free Avatars are coming for PS Plus members and the Escape Plan Demo will be available for all PS Vita players – all with today’s PS Store publish!

Since launch, our fans have chipped in to provide feedback and thoughts on Escape Plan. All of these little nuggets of advice and tips have helped us to improve and change the overall experience, and so for a limited time, we’re giving back to fans by dropping The Asylum DLC from $4.99 to a just a handful of change — $0.25, to be exact.

The gameplay of The Asylum picks up right where Lil and Laarg left off at the end of Escape Plan. Lil and Laarg travel through a sewer pipe, only to find themselves in Bakuki’s Asylum. This latest conundrum is filled with padded walls, shocking minions, gruesome blades of mass destruction and even more helpless sheep.

The Asylum delivers a ton of crazy content, including the Lil and Laarg Dressing Room where fans can check out the God and Luchadore Super Pack costumes, with the Poindexter and Super Hero costumes unlockable by playing through all of the 18 Asylum levels.

We are also introducing seven new Challenge Modes and four more Trophies!

Everyone will receive patch 1.02, which will give them the first two Dressing Room costumes for Lil and Laarg and a handful of gameplay improvements, but only The Asylum DLC will open up the new levels, trophies and remaining costumes.

After the limited two-week 25-cent promotion, Escape Plan The Asylum will be available in the PSN Store for $4.99 on June 26th, 2012.

For those who have yet to pick up Escape Plan, we are happy to announce the release of the official Escape Plan Demo! This teaser gives fans a taste of 16 puzzling levels from the original game. Be sure to give it a try and, as always, we’d love to get your feedback in the comments below.

Q: Will existing services like Remote Play, Skype, SenseMe, and Comic content for PSP be available for PS Vita as well?
A: We are evaluating the opportunity to offer non-gaming applications/content and will announce details at a later time.

Interesting, I wonder if Remote Play in reverse would work for tv output? Instead of a hardware revision that would allow for tv output.

I mean, with the aid of a PS3, turn your television into a Vita screen using the Vita itself as a touch screen controller. PSP games, possibly controllable with a Dual Shock 3.

Just exploring the possibilities of more reasons for me to get a Vita. The main reason still being Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward.

Another reason just being if my PSP 3000 dies, at least I'll eventually have an option to play my digital PSP games.

I personally have 0 interest in playing my vita on TV (same as a PSP). If I'm home and want tplay a game on the tv, I'd likely play a ps3/360/PC game. I have the Vita mostly for travel or for when the TV is being used.

I guess I'm the opposite when it comes to PSP games on a bigger screen. I enjoyed playing Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines connected to a TV. I play my PSP at home more than when I travel.

My PSP 3000 is becoming more and more sensitive, the UMD drive gets disrupted easily when I move/play. I'm looking for more options to playing my games again.

Is the Comic Book section of PSN still available for the Vita? I don't have a Vita to check this feature.

Still wondering why that section isn't on the PS3 storefront, will check google soon.

I bought a barely used Vita on Ebay that included Mod Nation Racers, Uncharted, Little Deviants, Hot Shots Golf, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, and an 8 GB memory card for 298.00. It finally came in today and was in perfect condition! I also bought MLB 12: The Show, Wipeout and a 32 GB memory card. What are some other good games to add to my collection? PSP games are welcome also.

I heard that Rayman is pretty awesome on the Vita with the touchscreen controls. I skipped the Gamefly sale on it today, because I feel like I may enjoy it more on the Vita. I didn't like Gravity Rush very much when I tried it. What do you recommend?

Gaiden is good if you didn't catch it on xbox or ps3.

edit: I am interested in the metal gear solid hd collection but I don't think I'd play it without the first being available to play on the vita via PSN. Looking forward to hearing more about which PS1 games will show up on the device.

It's not anywhere near the same thing, but if you buy MGS 1 on your PS3, you can play it over Remote Play on your Vita. (And eventually, it would presumably work on the Vita natively.)

Picked up one of the cheap modnation racers from Best Buy and it showed up today. That game is waaaay more fun than I thought it'd be - never played it on ps3. I can see why folks lament the lack of online play, seems perfect for it.

Are there specific patch notes for the 1.69 firmware? Updated for kicks tonight after running in to a HSG crash.

Just played a race of wipeout HD, then the same track in crossplay on the vita in 2048. Pretty cool feature. Are the greyed out bottom four tracks in crossplay track select the upcoming DLC? Or will I unlock those eventually?

There isn't a wipeout thread so I defaulted here
