Nobody home here. The trolls and the juvenile drama chased me away.

I thought CAG was a supportive community, but I was wrong, apparently.

You're free to let someone else man the thread now; I understand J7 has a lot of free time on his hands and has been trying to circumvent the thread from me for a few months.

I just don't have the patience for the children anymore.

Toys R Us Clearances & Markdowns

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

Um I hate to stop the good train of argument but the Toys at North Miami Beach, FL has all the clearance 9.99 PS2 games marked. Saw a good bit of KOF XI & Dragon Quest 8 non greatest hits. Went looking for Crisis Core for PSP but my they have a small selection of PSP games :cry:

Placing everything in a nicely organized post will only make hoarding easier for SD'ers. it's not that hard to follow the latest updates by watching the last few posts.

Now that we have 2 threads going we can all give up any chance of finding a good deal at TRU.

There is no difference these days between CAG,SD,FW,Ebayers, you can find just as much of the same type of antics here as anywhere else and most of it was spawned from the Blockbuster Flipper (Hoarders) when the TIV were good.'

I'll hop in and have my TRU contact verify these today after work. If they end in .99 though, they're either SRP or store markdowns. Regardless, I'll see what I can dig up.

I agree somewhat. CAG has taken a turn lately towards the hoarder mentality.

However there's a difference between making someone work for their deals -- i.e. following threads, and being part of the community versus spoon-feeding any lurker who visits the site and clicks on a TRU clearance thread with everything neatly organized.

Now with 2 threads it will only get worse.

All regular price items end in .99.

All store level markdowns have to end in .90 and are identified with a 2in x 2in square orange sticker with the items original UPC blacked out.
 
I agree with both daminion AND Derrick, in that CAG has become as bad as SD/FW and the other deal sites with hoarders at times.

But yet I agree with daminion moreso in that a neatly compiled and up-to-date list only helps people to go clean out a store of anything good before anyone else even has a shot at it.

The only way you may get a deal if the hoarders swoop in and start grabbing everything is if you buy at the much higher pricepoints and keep returning and rebuying as the items drop. Of course, this is not possible if your local TRU doesn't immediately put the items back out for sale and there is always the chance that the employee may see the price and grab it for themselves too.

I certainly don't mind doing the return/rebuy thing, but I don't make a habit of going to TRU unless it's something I really want, so I usually miss out by months.
 
I really, really, really hate the arguement against making lists on CAGs. It's absolutely insane. Someone who's out to get deals will read the last five or so pages of a thread because it only takes minutes to do so.

I just don't get it. It almost seems like this whole "Don't make a list because hoarders will read it and thendecide to buy everything" was invented by thread OPs who are too lazy to make the said list. It's an absurd arguement.

Well, I'm an OP of a thread and the list is well maintained on my thread. Of course, nobody really wants eleven billion guides sitting around their house while they wait for the flood of them that happens after each penny drop to subside from Ebay so they can resell theirs, so I know that most times there won't be any hoarders hitting every GS,BB,TRU and so on for guides by me.

But keeping a maintained list in the main store threads only helps the lazy asses who check it once a month. If you want deals, you gotta be willing to HUNT for them. That's my stance on this. Don't expect to be spoon fed the info, like everybody asking for trade values on clearance games in the store specific threads when there's a GS thread with TIV's regularly updated that they could just surf to.

then when you dont update the op you have people like J7 complaining. imo, occasional updates like 2 weeks after everything is confirmed is good because by that time, everyone (on cag) had gotten in the deals. if they dont read the thread at all, then its too bad. YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOOSE.

Updating the OP after all the stuff is sold out defeats the purpose of having an OP. What would be the point? "Here's what you noobs missed during the last drop"? Only hurts new CAG members.

If you really want to deter those from posting deals on other sites, the best way is to just have a brand new thread for each round of clearance. This would prevent lurkers from just subscribing to the permanent thread and waiting for new posts to arrive in their email. You'd have to be an active/daily user of the site to know about the deals if new threads were made. These lingering 100+ page months-old threads are a major part of the problem.

Except that's not the policy of this site. The whole purpose of the site is to provide information to everyone who visits about what is actually on sale. The easiest way to do that is by updating the OP. Failing to do so results in multiple posts for individual games outside of the main thread which clutters the board and makes it even harder to figure out what's on sale. I could care less if the list gets spread or not. For most stores, it's not like the deals are so amazing that everyone is going to rush down there and buy them out. In fact, except for that dollar Best Buy sale a few years back, I have never really run into any hoarders and certainly not any hoarders who cleared out every TRU location in town.

No doubt, thats kind of the impression I got when I came across this site and joined...what's the point of telling me what other CAG members were able to snag...sounds kind of greedy to me and not what I'm sure the official motto would consist of.

My initial impressions of this site was that it must be a ghost town, because NONE of the OFFICIAL threads appeared to have been updated.

It appears as if the OP of this thread removed the most recent dates as a cop-out of future updating...if someone else wants to do it, by all means let them.
 
I have held off for a whilebut since everyone else is putting in their two cents I might as well. As some of the other posters are mentioning, the general atmosphere of CAG is to share the wealth as easy as possible. I don't know what benefits go with having your own thread. I am just all for ease.

This thread gets a bit confusing at times because nothing happens then things blow up and get lost. There are people on other sites doing the same thing.

On Topic:

I picked up Blast Works today for $0.35 after error from the cashier. He didn't ask for my rewards zone card so I go $5 back on my $5.35 purchase.

Will people keep record of TRU trade in values in this thread as well? Lastly, what is the benefit of being the OP of a thread like this?

The whole point that everyone seems to miss is that jaysapathy dared J7 to do the thread, and when he did, he chickened out. If Jaysapathay would just ignore him, and kept his stupid mouth shut, this would have never happened.

The pathetic thing is that jaysapathy can't man up, say he fucked up, and let it go. Instead, he gets everyone, and mods to try and have him save face. The only person that needs to say anything is him, and all he needs to say is one of 2 things.

1. fucked up, I want my thread, and you can't have it. Too bad, soo sad.

2. I replied under pressure from constant attacks of my thread updates, and never should have done so. My mistake. When I am ready to let it go, if you still want it, it's yours, and I will always update the thread as best as I think it should be updated in order to reward both the loyal followers of the thread, and the noobs coming in to CAG for the first time.

Is that so fucking hard????

J7's list has the same info mine does, and jdawg's original thread before it. The only difference is that it's "new" and it's formatted differently. So why's everybody so butthurt about it?

Pick a thread, get your info, and stop trolling other people's. If you don't like the way I do business here, please go to another thread and leave the rest of us without the drama.

It's getting to the point where I wish a mod would lock both threads, just because of the constant whining. Grow up, people. It's a message board.

I don't think all of us are whining. You told J7 to make a thread of your own and did not expect him to actually do it. Then you got mad-- clearly, you did not want to turn over the reigns to J7. You were wrong to do that.

But so is J7 for making an "unofficial" thread. He is taking it too far, and should drop it, and that is wrong. So you're both wrong, at one point, during this ordeal. Is that a fair assesment, Jaysapathy?

look im not here to defend either jaysapathy or J7. at their current situation i think theyre not going to get along anytime soon. both have their strong points. but i just feel like J7 took it too far and started his own clearance thread. theres a reason why we nuke the same exact thread, its redundant and you want the conversations and comments onto one.

I think that complaints against lists is pretty absurd and paranoid... I'm for lists, but I'm not going to complain if they aren't maintained. It really isn't that hard to keep tabs on a thread that you have an interest in.
 
For what has happened with this thread, is the reason why I gave up on the Kmart thread. I learned that you're not going to make EVERYONE happy no matter what you do. I had the same issue with not updating the OP because of no new info, then I got the complainers that the thread was too long & they wanted a new one when my thread was just fine. So what if it was long? Look at some of the current threads about other stores right now...way overdue for a new thread if you go by thread length. Bottom line is this: If you want to maintain a thread for deals all you have to do is keep it updated. If there are no updates/price drops for a month or two then just be patient & wait until there is.
