What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.

Would blockbuster and Gamerush have the same trade in values since they are essentially owned by the same chain?

Cause there are no gamerushes near me but there is a blockbuster

If not whats the 2nd best place to trade in games?

I wonder if there are any real good candidates for the EB/GS B1G1F on XBX games. Most of the high trades on the Wiki havent been updated in a few months. I remember Jaws XBX was worth $19, and sold for $12 (meaning $12 or less into $38), but i'm sure you'd be real hard pressed to find two copies at one store.
 
Arg just checked my CC for nba 07. nothing...the only cheap clearance game there was aeon flux (boo) gotta find an easy way to build credit so i can get a ps3 lol

As for the second best place, probably Gamecrazy.

Can confirm that Bullet Witch still gets 15 and NBA 07 is still at 23. I went to my local CC and the only games they had left were Eye Toy Kinetic & Lumines Plus PS2.

Funny thing is that I went to Gamerush first when I went out shopping to the mall and went to EB Games where I found a copy of the Forza 2/Marvel Ultimate Alliance Pack @ 20 bucks. So, I bought it and a copy of Madden 06 to trade tomorrow. Now, I need to find the cover site to print out the two covers because they always hassle me at my local stores about disk only games.

Also, saw Virtua Tennis 3 Xbox 360 for $8.97 at Sears but it only gets $19 in credit so it doubles your money I might stop by and pick it up because they had two copies left.

You can still fetch $47 in trade at gamerush for that Forza 2/Marvel pack. The GR at 24 and hayes NEVER gives me any problems (I saw that your from the Detroit area).

Just to avoid any confusion, its $37, not $47, after Forza's recent drop.

I know that Forza 2 dropped so I can't be mad because I already traded in a copy at $32. My only thing is I hope they take the trade with the covers that I printed out and the barcode on each of them scan.

Yeah the nba 07 is worth picking up almost triple your investment, also madden 06 360 is still worth 8 trade in...get it from GS for (3.99*.9*.9=) $3.23 plus tax, not too bad for more then double the price. Also im just starting at BB how many copies can i trade in over how long to not look suspicious? Thanks alot

It all depends on the area you are in. You can trade as little as 3 and get banned but then you could trade-in 30 and they wouldn't say anything these are extreme cases so you better hope you get cool with the employees so they don't get suspicious.

That's how I found out that the reason that my local stores outside of Gamerush won't give you a Value Card because people would steal games and then trade them back into BB so to prevent the movement of the credit they make you spend it off your account at that store.

I can confirm Jaws for the Xbox still gets $16 TIV. You can get 2 for $12.99 + tax using the GStoppo B1G1 free xbox coupon. I'm netting about a 2.5 ratio using my edge discount.

The coupon expires on the 17th

What system for the darkness? Also dont forget to use the new gamestop 10% (expires 1-25) off coupon when your getting games to flip...got MUA/FZ2 for 16.95 out the door...and looks like it still trades at 37 (22+15). Anyone know a good site to get the covers off of?

*edit* http://www.cdcovers.cc is a really good site found both covers I was looking for there :)

This is one of the Circuit City $8.96 clearance titles. I left it in the shrinkwrap with the original $59.99 price sticker on it, and the kid said "You know we don't give cash, right?" when I traded it in. I'm sure he assumed I stole it.

irish, I used that cdcovers.cc site for the Forza/MUA bundle, and the UPCs scanned perfectly. I printed them on shiny paper with a hp photosmart printer, and I couldn't tell the difference between mine and a factory printed cover when I took them in.

Just got rid of my last 3x Tony Hawk Limited editions.

I made an earlier post saying how the limited editions don't scan correctly, so i've been doing disc only trades or just take the slip cover off and use the instruction manual as "art" .

It dropped this Tuesday from $35 to $25 (don't know if it will fall further tomorrow) but I didn't want to take the chance.

If you're talking about the $8.96 clearance stuff at CC, those should be permanent. They just advertised it to get people to actually clear it out.

Jackpot!! Time to go to staples and print out some more covers for MUA and Forza :lol: Although i dont understand how they offer 8 bucks for both Madden 06 and 07.
