Welcome to the Official CAG Gamerush/Blockbuster video game deal thread.

First and foremost, please check out the
GameRush Trade-In Prices Wiki.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals, of which there are none currently).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
There will be absolutely NO DISCUSSION of the recent doctored coupon. Do not discuss what you bought, what you traded it for, or anything else - all such posts will be deleted. Any discussion of that should be done here.

Also, it is bad form to discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arrive (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell new and used video game hardware, with the exception of the occasional new controller/memory card spotted at regular stores. (Edit - Some recent exceptions have cropped up: many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and a few stores have been reported to sell DS Lites).

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of new games (though, it seems, many of those have even stopped taking preorders).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later.

Looks like a good plan, there, hotwls13. I would stay away from SMB unless you can get it dirt cheap. Pick up Mercury Meltdown Revolution (MSRP $20) instead. Also, Excite Truck is nice (I rented it) but it is due for a drop sooner or later so don't spend anywhere near $50 on it. There is a Rayman 2 coming out - so either wait for that or get the first one cheap as a result.

Zack & Wiki is a great choice for a Wii-specific type of game. I have it but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I can only assume GR never gets games like that, but if they do, snag it with your credit ASAP (to keep this thread on topic ;)).
West Coast gets their consoles on Thursday and new games on Friday.
It depends, I live in Los Angeles, and they got their shipments in on Wednesday. They had a Wii fresh out the box this Wednesday.
Well, I did it....I picked up a Wii. Now, do I keep it or Ebay it to turn my credit into about he same amount of cash?

I'm leaning towards keeping it, just something to have. I only have $120 in credit now....but I need another controller, so that is an issue. I passed on CoD4 for now, but Iwil eventually get it (none of my friends have it yet....but if they get it, Iwill).

So, what do I need for a Wii now?
Sell it on Craigslist.com You can sell it a lot faster (even same day maybe), don't have to pay fees, and get more than what you got it for.

Personally I'm going to sit on mine and wait a few more weeks before listing it on Craigslist. Just in time for the holidays when parents are gonna be desperate to get their hands on one and when I'll happily sell mine for an even bigger profit :D

Haha, gotcha. Thanks for the info. I may have to trade some more 360 games in. I will check the Wiki and see what the rest of my games are getting.

First, thanks to everyone who replied to my previous post regarding the game rental schedule....

Anyway, they looked like they had plenty of copies of COD4 (360) for rental- at least 20-25, judging by shelf depth. Unfortunatly, they won't let me rent 360 games because my credit card info hasn't been updated in 3 years, I'm I'm not getting a credit card anytime soon. DAMN THEM!!! (Of course I can still do movie rentals and trade-ins, they've been pretty nice about that, though.)

Would anyone be able to tell me - an employee perhaps, if they would accept a debit card to update the info? I'd be able to get one from a relative.

Also, I noticed they had a few copies for sale of the COD4 Collector's Edition (36) for sale; I couldn't tell exactly how many since they keep their new games now in a locked display case.
No Fire Emblem for sale at two local gamerushes. Several copies for rent. I am very frustrated.
It's almost tempting to rent to buy Fire Emblem from them, if I knew I could get them to give it to me like-new.

I signed up with a debit card. Technically, I think I wasn't supposed to, but they processed it anyway.

Well, I think I may actually keep mine. I just ordered a Wii component cable from Monoprice andpicked up a Nunchuck from Best Buy...had a $20 RZ coupon. I will pick up Wii Play at my local GameRush also. That should hold me over for a while I would assume....mainly something for my wife to play at times and friends.

I still may get CoD4...but that would basically wipe all my credit out....which scares me ;)

Just used up some GR credit to buy two Halo 3s. Took them over the EB and with the 30% Rock Band preorder, it was pretty much an even trade. I tried to preorder Rock Band at GR, but they had no idea if they were getting it in. Seems like something I'd really want to make sure I had. I've been burned by GR before.
Cincinnati area stores get consoles on Tuesdays.
Northern KY I was told wed for systems when I was trying to track down my Wii and fri off course for games...

I haven't been following the thread real closely lately (mainly 'cause you guys are blowng it up:)) but CC just dropped Hour of Victory to $29.99 so a drop at GR is probably coming soon. If anyone has anymore copies to flip you should probably do it before Tuesday.

I picked up Wii Play at my store...down to $72 in credit now after my Wii and Wii Play purchase....oh well. What to do next?

I may trade some games I have in, not sure yet.
Play the darn wii thats whats next.
Hmmm, I suppose I could do that....I was waiting to get my component cables in the mail, but I guess I can just hook it up with the cheap cables.

I want more credit....I feel bad when it's almost gone. Although, I haven't really flipped anything in a while....oh well.

Well, its not as great of a deal, but Darkness PS3 is $18.90 after coupon/edge card. It trades for $36, just under a 100% gain.

For a moment I thought last night that my GR had taken out all of the video games! They still have the GR trade in counter in the corner but that whole area has been converted to movies. I found out late that they moved the game rentals and the new/used game racks into the middle of the store near the regular registers.
Hey guys, thanks for all the great advice on the Wii. I need to be careful. I usually end up going crazy when i get a new system and before ya know it I have like 20-30 games and no time to play them all.

I'm thinking of going with the following:

- Wii system (duh)
- extra nunchuck
- Wii Play (for the extra controller and $10 game)
- Mario Galaxy

And probably 2 or 3 of the following:

- Excite Truck
- Zack and Wiki
- Super Monkey Ball (though we already have a couple with our GC)
- Rayman
- Mario Strikers Charged
- MLB Power Pros

I will keep my eye out for any super cheap clearanced Wii games and grab them as they come up.
My Family and I had a lot of fun playing Mario & Sonic Olympics. I'ts nice to have a lot more diverse types of mini games, as usual I got my ass kicked by my sons :)

A debit card is fine, so long as it has a major credit card logo on it (MC, VISA, AMEX, DC, etc.). Also, it has to be an active card that has at least $1 available on it when you go to rent or it will not process as a valid card. And since it is not your card, but a relative's... YMMV about getting them to put it on your account (unless said relative is with you) since they may think it's stolen.

Skip Monkey ball. When it launched there was a lot of frustration with control... plus you have a few. The others all seem to be great choices. You know Excite Truck is on clearance at Target right?

Anyone trade in WARHAWK at GR? I'm wondering if you have to trade in the whole box, or just the case and game. The case says NOT FOR RESALE on it. I want to keep the headset though.

If so, how much does it fetch?
Do they sell new DS Lites at blockbuster/gamerush?
They do at GameRush stores. That's where I got mine.

All trade in values for 360 games:

All Pro Football 15
Splinter Cell DA 12
Command & Conquer 3 22
Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer 15

APF is 7.50 at Target now, FRotSS is 10 and C&C3 is 15. Only APF seems worth it to me.

MotorStorm and Need for Speed Carbon both get 30$

I tried to trade Rise of the Silver Surfer for PS3 today and they couldn't accept the trade. It was not in the system.

Darkness still holding steady.

Well I was finally told to stop trading in copies of The Darkness, Hour of Victory, Madden 06, and LOTR:TT last night. It's all good. The drops are imminent (except Madden and LOTR). Besides, how can a store expect to sell 35+ copies of the same game? Either way, I'm far from banned from trading, and I'll agree I flipped an exceptional and irritable number of games.

Interesting note, though: I bought the ESA 3-pack (well, 6 of them) and Fuzion Frenzy 2 trades for $15, but they sell it for $14.99 used. The $5 bonus doesn't work because of that, but it's still funny to see they make absolutely no chance of profit from taking it as a trade.

:360:
Open Season $15
Cars $8
Fuzion Frenzy 2 $15

Today is dump day. Good luck with number 2.
ESA three pack?
It's a three pack of those games for 30$ with profits going to some charity. They are no worth tradin in my opinion, only a very small profit on a 30 + tax outlay.

FYI for those who just bought a 360 and don't care for the pack-in games....

Forza 2 gets $32 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance gets $15 in trade = $42 total in trade.

I preordered Mass Effect for $16 after trading these in. Nice!

sorry to nitpick, but does MUA get 10, or is the total 47?

Guessing that total is 47 based on the balance for ME.
Anybody know of any PS3 money makers (Other than The Darkness), I'd like to make use of the EB/GS 20% of PS3 games coupon.
I checked the trade in price for Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom and NBA 07 on the PS3 and they both trade in for $23 each. These are pretty good flippers for the Gamestop 20% off deal running through Thursday of this week.

We need to check these prices tomorrow to see if they still hold.

Thanks,
vgc

Hey get off me! So what if i flunked math!! :) My bad.

Just traded in Digaea 2, Far Cry, and Chromehounds from the K-Mart Clearance - 30% off for $50 total (on about $16 spent). The manager at BlockBuster said some sweet deals on used games will be coming in December, so I'm saving the rest of my credit until then...

Not bad. I've got a copy of Untold Legends gatherin dust. EB sells it for $12.59 after coupon/edge card. Not quite as good as the deals from the 25% 3 games, but its still almost double what you paid. NBA 07 for PS3 is $14 after coupon/edge card.

Anyone know of any decent trades in reverse from GR --> GS. The Only 35$ trade I know off is Halo 3, I thought COD4 would get the same but, it trades at 30.
