The One Smith Is Better Than Four OTT

There's always that one guy at work who sort of forces you to talk and listen to him, and he never says anything remotely interesting.

Exact conversation:
Guy> So how have your calls been today?
Me> Ok, pretty usual.
Guy> No one getting really mad?
Me> Not really. Nice and slow day.
Guy> My wife sent me that commercial.
Me> ....?
Guy> You know, the one with David Spade?
Me> ....
Guy> Yeah, and he keeps telling the guy no?
Me> Oh right, the one about the bank card or something...
Guy> Yeah! And the customer gets all mad and comes up and David Spade goes 'I'm not scared and I'm wearing a yellow shirt' and the guy tackles the other guy? I love that commercial.

....

What was the point to all of that?

(Don't you love it when I quote from ancient OTTs as I read through getting caught up?)
Fave Peter Moore quotes:

MS is all about setting extremely low expectations and meeting them this GEN

Moore on BC:
Hey we didnt promise much so why do we need to work hard on BC. Sony promised 100% BC, in my book they are failing that plan. We are beating them because we promised less

Moore on product reliability: Things break. We never said a complex product like this would be reliable.

Moore on Japan: Well our internal plans are that we would fail miserably in Japan getting outsold 36:1 to the Wii, but you know what we have met that plan. Sony on the other hand is thought they were going to sell much better so they fail once again to meet expectations since they get outsold 6:1.
#1 I could see saying, seems reasonable enough. They didn't overpromise unrealistically. Although the exact wording of the first sentence is not very diplomatic. And IIRC they kind of let it seem like there might be 100% BC in the days before the 360 came out. At least I remember a lot of CAGs seeming to think that there would eventually be 100%.

#2 Just seems crazy for anyone to say, ever.

#3 Is a little odd, you'd think he'd say something like - Internally we realistically didn't expect to 'win' Japan, but being competitive was always our goal.

Where did those quotes come from?

Whoa. Don't make me drag up the conversation I had with MarioColbert yesterday where we made fun of Sony's PR quotes from E3 with dire consequence and extreme prejudice. The OTT is not meant to be a place for dallow's little Sony erection to flop around ineptly.

Various interviews. I can only confirm the last two. But I'm sure the first one is true as well.
The third comment was made about two days ago.

Oh, and my RA job, they just moved me to a cushy, quiet, ACed upperclass apartment for all of next year (West Village). I was supposed to go to freshman (ick) again in my 4th and final year.
Well anyone can have nine toes. Just takes enough conviction. :)

I hate power point presentations. We had a company wide meeting today and it was some serious boring shit. I actually fell asleep.

I just started playing it yesterday and it is pretty fun.

Smooth operator. But you need to be careful as you are getting very close to going beyond dallowing with this one. I mean leaving her a gift, that she knows came from you? You're slipping.

What kinda lollipop did you lure her in w/ dallow?

Anyone have any good tips on how to flip a damned pancake? I fuck every single pancake up pretty much. :(
I'm skeptical of those quotes really coming from Moore.

The 2nd one seems to be a bastardization of this interview:

"Well, things do break. And we haven't done a good job because the return rate's been unacceptable."
http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/07/interview-micro.html
Might have been fuzzy on that one.
Here's the third interview.

Also, just saw this:

Peter Moore might be leaving?

Haha, I had to in order to gain trust, and get more info.

Anybody know if this PS3/PS2 controller adapter would work for PC? Also, I doubt it does, but does it support rumble function?

So the actual quote turns out to be much closer to what I figured. As for Moore leaving... uh... big whoop? I could see it happening if EA is willing to pay for him.

Fair enough. I should know better than to question the expert. :robot:

Butter the pan in between every pancake. The most important is lots of well, lube. Then when it stops bubbling around the edges flip it. But make sure you don't just fling it over. Get under it with a spat, then turn you wrist and the pancake upside down. Very quickly. You can also lift the a side sightly to make sure its done. Should be a medium golden brown. But more important then the flip is butter.
Grease the pan in between each pancake.

Man, this "most pulp" orange juice is awesome. It's like a milkshake level of thickness. I can stand a straw up in it and it doesn't even budge.

Missed the pancake question until GS quoted it.

1. Don't make them too big.
2. Use a large enough flipper (and I like to use one that's stiff if that makes sense.)

Also you don't have to really swoop them way up over the pan. Just a quick flip really close to the griddle does the job. I think that's pretty much what GS is saying as well.

Also you need to use a griddle (something with low sides) if you are using a pan flipping is much trickier.

Who are these people that like pulp in their juice? Didn't man invent the process of juicing to remove the pulp from the fruit? I mean REALLY. /Seinfeld
That sounds good.....
It is. There's a half an inch of pulp just floating on the top. It's like they took regular full pulp OJ and then added the pulp skimmed off of the no pulp kind.

Yea but don't flip so much as turn over quickly.

TFN, when you flip it, don't "release" it from the spatula by pulling the spatula up, like you're trying to get away from it as fast as possible. You sort of want to guide it down.

I.e., when you flip it upside down, you'll actually still be pushing it downward, guiding it. Otherwise you're going to "release" too early and end up with those pancake and hit an angles and screw up.

Also, I've never needed butter when I'm flipping pancakes. Seems unnecessary.
hmmm, I love pulp in my juice. What brand is it?
Florida's Natural Most Pulp.

I'm having it in a Midwest mimosa (wikipedia calls it a "manmosa" but that sounds dirty.)
The only good pulp is Pulp Fiction.
Wrong again.

Ah. They've finally shipped my television set.
