The Orange Box: Team Fortress 2 - Gen. Discussion

What I've gathered from the original post is that Thursday is likely the best day. It's not perfect (no day will be), but more people mentioned Thursday as a possibility. So, I'll start a CAG Gaming Group thread if that's cool with everyone and use it as a place to set up a particular date/time for a CAG get together. Sometimes it's helpful to have one day/time to focus on to get a decent turn out, though I'm still up for playing at any time personally (though I've been distracted significantly by Blue Dragon).
 
I'll play. None of my (7) 360 friends even own the Orange Box so I'd like to get a game with some familar folks.

Not really, I got that one quick. Just hurt yourself and then sneak into their base and call for a medic.

You can call for a medic the same way, and it goes to their medic??? I thought it still showed up as wanting a medic on yoru team

No, if you are disguised it sends it to that team. Read the tips when you die as a spy.

Good game yesterday Doc, I got disconnected from you twice in a row around 1015 EST or so, but getting up at 5am means that was about my bedtime anyway...

Depending on what time my wife goes to bed tonight, I should be up for some TF2 tonight if you want to add me
 
I think I'm gonna post a CAG game group thread to get a TF2 night going. let's see how many CAGs are interested in CAG night.
 
i really wish it wasn't on a thursday night.

i joined a game with rsa and jimmiemac earlier. my team was defending point 3 on dustbowl. my other teammates were two pyro's and a sniper. good god. i left.

I'm not married to thursday, it was a suggestion from before. if people want to move it that ok with me, I can do any day.
 
Finally got my hands on this today. This game rules. My first match was just blundering around with no clue what I was doing, but by the time I hit 2Forts on my third match I was dominating everyone, backstabbing Red's, snatching Intelligence, building sentries, popping caps in bitches heads as a sniper, ubercharging my heavies.

fucking brilliant game, just a blast to play with so much stuff to do and all of it done so well.


Any CAG's up for a shot at the "With friends like these" achievement? PM me, here or on XBL.

What do you need to do? I haven't played this game yet.
 
You need to play with (I think it's seven) people on your friend list in a game, easiest way to get it is to host a game and add everyone who comes in... someone hosting did that and we all ended up adding each other for the achievement.
 
I just got a 360 on saturday, and this was my firstish game, dumb of me to buy a system during thanksgiving break..... because I didn't bring it back to school wth me and my fucking 1 month free trial started.... but i'll be back in two weeks for winter break to play.
 
I'm not a particularly great sniper, but today, I got Grey Matter with 12 headshots in one round, including 7 before dying once.

the lag goes from game to game. some hosts just dont have the connection for a 16 player game but they host anyway... just leave the laggy game and find one that works well. nothing to quit playing the game over.

Honestly, a game like this is far superior on a system with dedicated servers. If your PC can run it (and the reqs are very reasonable) you need to play it there. There's nothing like a 24 or 32 man game. With 16 you can't even have every class represented on your team, never mind have a good balance.
 
The last 2 achievements I have in TF2 are Grey matter (the 25 sniper headshots) and the 1000 total kills. The total kills one will come with time, but I am working on the sniper one, i have 10 now, but dont know what the best map to play as a sniper is... Any advice for the best map to get sniper headshots?

2fort is the easiest, especially if there's another sniper trying to snipe you at the top of the building.
 
I just hate sniping, and not really good at it, but I am at 17/25 now, so a couple more games and I should be good. I found Dustbowl to work pretty well last night, gonna have to keep playing that one I think till I get it
 
Ya, I got mine on 2Fort, where I got the last 12 headshots in one round (as I posted on the last page). It was a 6v6, and for some reason they had 3 guys sniping on top of their base, and I was sniping all 3 of them and occasionally their heavy.

Yeah...I've never thought of myself as much of a sniper, but I guess I was in the zone the other night. I was sniping for the hell of it, and I noticed they suddenly had one...then two...then three, and they were all focusing entirely on me and I was still holding equal with them.

Then I got shanked by a spy.

/good times.
 
Looking for some CAGs to play with. Give me an add if you want to play. I probally won't be on until second week of Janurary.

Couple of questions.

1. Can more than 1 person play on the same console at the same time? Like splitscreen online

2. Is there still lag like the early complaints heard?

3. How large is the community?
 
I miss playing this game. I played a ton for the few weeks I was at a friend's house with broadband..

Send a friend request to CAG Fortress 2. Then look at that gt's friends and you will see your friendly CAG group. Hopefully, we get some more interest in playing. I am on frequently as is a few others. However, we really need to get a game together with more people playing. The "official" CAG TF2 night is Wednesday. Hope to see you there.

Most people are on for COD4 Thursdays.
 
Anyone heard when DLC will be coming for this game? Major Nelson had an interview a while back with someone from Valve and they were talking about new maps.
