I can't decide if it's comical or horrifying.
Unlike most negative campaign ads, which make things up, take actions/statements out of context, and "spin"(as the vernacular goes), Goldwater was a preemptive war supporter (though we were fighting Communists instead of designated segments of brown people).
So, while this ad may have set the standard for negative campaigning, it stretched the truth of Goldwater's highly aggressive military stance, rather than what we see today.
Of course, you're welcome to disagree. I had to go back and check this ad out, since I have not seen a *SINGLE* political ad this election year that wasn't an attack ad.
