Good night.

Alexander.
Burn?
Um.. I'm personally banking on Penryn. Out of the other 2, Q6600.
To wait, or not to wait? =/

If there is one phrase that will always apply to PC technology, it's this:

"If you wait a few months, something 10x better will be out, so don't buy it yet."
I hate that misspelling crap.

I like the Funky 4+1.
Love all the OG New York playas.

That's super low........
fuck, look at Cold Crush Brothers, they only have 7,028 listens. Or if you really want to get pissed off, add up every crew that laid the ground work. Your looking at barely 240,000 listens with Bambaataa taking up 179,000 of that and Whodini taking 45,000.

Well the Core 2 Duo's have lasted a good 18 months. If the new Nehalem cpus last for just as long before being replaced, I think it'd be worth just buying a filler CPU for now.
The other problem is that the Nehalem platform is coming this year too. 8 cores...
Whoa.

Are the nehalems and penryns going to be built from the ground up, or are they going to be just more c2d cores squished together?

If I pick up a Q6600 and OC it, it'd probably last me through both penryn and nehalem.

Decisons, decisons. Ugh.

Penryn is Core tech just with the 45nm.

Nehalem is a new tech of its own. Its like going from Pentium 4 to Core 2 Duo (as in a new way of functioning not necessarily performance increase) though Intel's stats say 1.2 to 2.0 times better than the Penryns.

Holy shit. I just looked on the wiki, and Intel has their shit planned out till at least 2011. Westmere will replace Nehalem and shrinks it to 32nm, then that will be replaced by Sandy Bridge which will then be shrunk to 22nm in 2011.

22 nm? Daaamn.

Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards getting a Q6600 for now, and upgrading midway into Nehalem or at the beginning of Westmere (assuming Intel keeps shitting all over AMD, that is).

Thanks, man.
So on an awsome note. I found out I can have Netflix,go to any movie, and dinner after a movie, anything movie related.

For free.

Since I actually work in TV/Film I can write them off on my taxes as an "educational" seminar.

Nice!
Only if you itemize.
yeah, its pretty sad when the flavor of the month pitchfork special thats released one album can have 10 times as many listens than a whole fucking period of music
That actually puts it in perspective.

Man!

Alright, now I'm really going to bed.
Weeeee! I got my replacement Big Daddy figurine and Bioshock Art Book. :bouncy:
Wiiiiiiissse from your grave....

WHAT?!?! So it is true!!! They are mailing them!!! Did it come UPS? USPS?!?! Details...

Oh, Morning OTT.
Only if you itemize.
Plus writing something off on your taxes != free. If it did people would donate a hell of a lot more to charity. It's basically reduced by whatever tax bracket you are in. So if you are in the 25% bracket, it's like getting 25% off.

But yeah - if you don't own your place, you probably don't itemize anyway.

Prey isn't half bad - and it's pretty short. I'm pretty sure I'm very close to the end and I've probably put in 4-5 hours. I think one play through on Normal will do it for me as it's not interesting enough to play a 2nd time and you only get (I think) 65 GPs for playing it on the higher difficulty that unlocks.

Maybe if those 65 would bring me to 1000 / 1000 (even then I kind of doubt it) but the online cheesemints are now pretty much impossible. And I wouldn't bother grinding on them for hours over playing a game that's more fun on XBL. I'm a cheesemint whore, but I do have my limits.

Crackdown or maybe Oblivion up next. I'm a little hesitant to start on Oblivion as it's such a long game. Or I could go back to trying to muddle my way through COD2 or COD4 on Veteran.
One Shot, One kill is not that hard on veteran. Take your time especially near the part with the buses.I ran past some parts of the level.
The first encounter is a bunch of balls and the ferris wheel part is sure to suck a bunch of dong. Especially if I go for that piece of intel.

I think the only missions I'm dreading more (or the same) would be maybe the end of "Heat", "No fighting in the war room", and (of course) "Mile High Club".

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure Portal stole all of its ideas from Prey. This is based on not having played Portal so I'd consider myself somewhat of an authority on the matter.

This could be so full of win, but having played neither, I'm not in a position to comment.

Morning OTT. Maklersheddinghishair was doing awesome at CoD4 last night. I was calling in air strikes and helicopters left and right. I finished the night with a 22kill/4death and a 13kill/2death game.

On an unrelated note, I have a fun afternoon planned ..
I have to give a presentation to a state agency on how I go about reviewing SSI benefit disbursements and how my methods can be applied to the automization of compensation benefits. Good stuff.

It's so they can replace you with an equally bald and slightly more freakish robot!

I’m not sure. I think it came UPS but I could be wrong about that. The box is sorts largish so it would be my guess. The cool part about the replacement is now I have one Big Daddy to be a collectors item and I have one (which just requires glue for his arm) to sit out. And the art book has cool stuff in it and interesting concept designs. Bioshock would’ve been a whole different game if they included the monsters they had drawn. They look like creatures from Silent Hill.

The best way to beat the first wave of them, by the cars, is to avoid as many of them as possible. Make a beeline for the apartment buildings (going through the brush far to the right).
