Penryn is Core tech just with the 45nm.
Nehalem is a new tech of its own. Its like going from Pentium 4 to Core 2 Duo (as in a new way of functioning not necessarily performance increase) though Intel's stats say 1.2 to 2.0 times better than the Penryns.
Holy shit. I just looked on the wiki, and Intel has their shit planned out till at least 2011. Westmere will replace Nehalem and shrinks it to 32nm, then that will be replaced by Sandy Bridge which will then be shrunk to 22nm in 2011.
22 nm? Daaamn.
Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards getting a Q6600 for now, and upgrading midway into Nehalem or at the beginning of Westmere (assuming Intel keeps shitting all over AMD, that is).
Thanks, man.
