Little bit of George Duke/Stanley Clarke

nice thread.
let me add my two cents

-sade
-dru hill(pre-skola)
-new edition
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtdPMoX2iws

to this day I am still angry at Ralph for putting his head in that tub of water.
lol
-En vogue
-Lauryn Hill (where are you old Lauryn? I will trade in Beyonce, Ashanti, Ciara, Keri Hilson, and about 3 more of the current R & B female singers out now for another old school Lauryn album)

-plus sooooooo many more artists it is not even funny

I think I might start to update this thread with a song of the day if no one doesn't mind.

jdeluis:

that was my song. the mom jokes that came from that song were amazing. lol by the way am I the only person who thinks Gerald Levert curses towards the last part of the song.

he says " can you feel me b****"

lol

I love old Motown stuff. I collect the old vinyl whenever I can get my hands on it. Especially anything by The Temptations:

I can't tell you how many times I've watched the movie

I'm luck enough to live so close to Detroit that I can visit the old Motown building anytime I want. If you're ever in Detroit, I suggest you visit it.

One of my favorite albums is Get Happy!! by Elvis Costello. He apes the old R&B and Soul sound like an expert.

anytime i see that movie is on tv im watching it. they went above and beyond on that. thats one thing i have to give props to vh1 for the do good work when ti comes to those things. that def leopard one they did years ago was great too.

I second Baby Charles... that album is great. Also the Menahan Street Band's new 45 "The Wolf" is the heaviest shit I've heard all year.
my two favorite soul albums of the year have been Baby Charles' self titled (my favorite record of the year so far in any genre) and the Diplomats Of Solid Sound Featuring The Diplomettes album

edit: though I do have to say that though I need to give it a few more spins, I'm also digging Soullive's new one as well

edit 2: shit, also forgot about J. Rawls & Middle Child's album for when it comes to R&B. If you dug Fat John's Rebel Clique albums, this is a perfect companion.
