The Pro : XBOX Live Moderator Abuses His Power?
The Pro sounds just as lame as the rest of the 12-year-kids on XBL. "I swear to God I'll stop everything right now and make it my mission to ban every console you've been on."

 Wow, real intimidating. I'd be shakin' in my boots if I heard him say that to me. He sounds like a total nerdo on a power trip.

If some kid told me that online, which has happened many times (and from adults too) I'd just laugh it off and mute the guy. I don't go "I SWEAR ON ALL THAT IS HOLY I WILL FIND YOU AND SMASH YOUR SYSTEM SO YOU'LL NEVER GAME EVER AGAIN!"
you do realize if all banned consoles that are linked to your gamertag are banned then you would have to go buy a new 360. either used off craigslist, gamestop or a new 360 arcade for $199 so choose wisely the words you use when playing online and trying to go against a mod. I agree with what the mod did was right even though it was a bit aggressive but he got annoyed & frustrated and after putting up with so much crap he let loose and dropped the ban hammer. It shows people are enforcing the rules and t.o.s. I am glad someone is finally doing something about it like in halo 3 when they started doing this as well. It will keep all these little kids, cheaters/glitchers and all negativity away. He did what he had to do, righftfully so. By the way, words come and go and as you stated you would just mute the person. Hit them where it hurts and just ban them. Let them learn a lesson in life and it'll be a costly one at that.
I checked my XBL status the other day and for some reason I've been flagged for "trash talking." Which is funny to me because I never use my headset when I play online except when i'm in a private party with my real life buds.
same. I've been on Live for a bit over a year and have a rep rating of 30 something percent. the majority of avoids are from "quit early" and "unsupporting conduct". I played Gears 2 mostly which explains the quitting . Not exactly sure the reason I got so many for unsupporting conduct (% is 10 or so less than quitting), maybe because I ignored all those players calling certain weapons or "stealing kills" which were actually mine.
Now the trash talking one appeared after I got MW2 so it had to be for that even though I have my mic off and only plug in in game (so no one can tell I have a mic due to the icon in lobbies)

For first offenses, there should be a 2 week ban if caught cheating/glitching or going beyond trash talking.

Console ban for modding and cheating/glitching that requires hacked/modded console. Account and console ban for gs hacking and wipe spread modding.
This is the EXACT SAME ARGUMENT people can make for cops beating the crap out of criminals, instead of just doing their jobs and arresting folks in a peaceful or respectful manner. Period.

who cares if it is? these are two totally different things. wow. just wow.
Comparing physical violence to Xbox Live seems a bit silly.
Have you ever been stuck in a COD match with four 12 year old boys? It's not that different.
I think if your job was to police cheaters, hackers, etc over Live, you wouldn't be the friendliest mod in the world either after a few months/weeks/hours on the job.
Actually, I'd imagine they are pretty desensitized to it by that point.

"you fucked my mother? yeah, yeah... never heard that one before.... ban." easy as pie.
If his mom beat his smarmy a** with the buckle end of his dad's rodeo belt and washed his mouth out with lye. . . maybe so. ;)
That would be what the kid really deserves, but it is fairly obvious that parents these days don't care what their children do, hear, or say. I mean the little kid had a mature rated game as it is which i doubt he went out and bought with his own money.

To steal a line from thePRO, I swear to god that if I had been using language like that when I was that young, it wouldn't have only been a ban from Xbox Live, I would have had my ass beat for it.

while I see the side of this that all annoying 12 year olds should be banned, there are mute functions for situations like this. I have had people threaten me on PSN, threaten to find me and slit my throat over a game of COD of all things, I just laugh at them and tell them I'd give them a headstart, that I live in the great lakes region. I then mute them and go about my day, you know what usually happens 9/10 times they leave the game cause I'm not giving them the attention they think they deserve.

on the other side, this is an anal attentive little moderator, I've dealt with them in on forums before. You said one bad thing against the TOS I am banning you because it makes my e-penis bigger and I can't be the bigger man and just ignore the fact maybe you're having a bad day and said fuck of all things over LIVE. Even though there are probably 12 other mods that go through games and realize that , hey its a game and people talk shit from time to time in them. thepro should realize that mod doesn't equal god in video game land and MS should make it a point to express that he isn't sheriff of COD land that he has rules and regulatons he needs to follow one of which is being an example of how players should act, not threatening them and abusing power.

tl:dr both the kid and thepro are acting like a couple of little kids in the schoolyard in a pissing match, both need to grow up.

To everyone who asks why the pro doesn't just mute these guys. He can't moderate very well if mutes these people. I'm sure MS tells him specifically he can mute them. Even in the original video he sent The Pro a PM over live with "LOL!". Looking at the context, I'd take that as taunting/harassment and justifies a one day ban. I'm behind him, and agree his tone could use work, but I wasn't there. We are seeing 3-5 minutes (if that) of several matches. That match could have started civil and boiled down to him warning them about ToS violations, then all hell breaking loose. None of us were there, we can't say.

Sorry that I don't pay for people to threaten me over Xbox Live and enjoy seeing people get banned when they deserve it. I generally will respond to them the same way you did in a "here is where I am at, come on" type of way and probably take it further since I am really not afraid of someone who has to make a threat on the internet, however it is extremely annoying to deal with. I don't like the idea of "mute and it will go away", because then the person gets away with doing clearly not even legal (if you were to make that threat to someone in person, your going to get locked up or your ass beat) and then the person has the option to harass even more people. I usually will file a complaint on in-game voice on these people and if they send messages I do it on them as well before I block communications so they can't spam.

And yes, talking shit to someone is one thing, but if you watch the second video (the un-edited, not as one sided video) it is clear that the kid deserved the ban and more IMO. If you want to let people get away with it on the PSN, be my guest, it is free and as such I don't expect Sony to take care of it as well as I expect MS to take care of LIVE (not bashing the PSN, I just have higher expectations of something I pay for vs. something free).

so does this moderator get payed by microsoft to play mw2 all day and ban the occasional person? how do you land that gig

If playing MW2 and being a dick are requirements to be a Live mod, then Live is filled with overqualified individuals.

I sent XBL a commendation letter for The Pro and cut and paste it into a XBL message to him personally. This dudes my hero, I hope he gets bonuses for banning kids like that.

Honestly, there are so many annoying little kids on Xbox Live that act like they have the right to free speech (which in reality you are not legally granted till you turn 18). This mod is now officially awesome as fuck. The kid deserved to get banned, and then bitched about getting banned. Most kids at like they cannot get banned because their parents pay for it and so when they get caught cheating they bitch and whine.

Has anybody actually looked at this kids profile? It is really obvious that they are a bunch of spoiled modders. It's like the 'Super Sweet 16' gamers of the internet.

Lupo made a threat to Major Nelson about filing a "class action lawsuit" because Nelson stated (although I never saw it) that the video was heavily edited (which it is).

The Live community is better without him.

This is dumb, when I heard about this I thought the moderator really flipped out on the kid. He didn't at all. The little kid deserved it, and I can't believe so many press sites are giving him the spotlight.

I'm on The Pro's side.

Makes me glad I have my settings to where I can't hear anyone on Live unless they're on my friends list.
We need more Pros.

This video reminded me why I'm constantly in a party chat.
This

Live is in a pretty sad state truth be told, I don't even bother plugging in my headset unless its specifically to chat to a friend.

There's a 30 minute video out on youtube but it's not worth watching since we can't actually hear Lupo speak. Something about capture card restrictions.

That was his excuse (see: bullshit). He deserved what he got and it should have been a permaban

anyone know if that kid who asks the Pro a question in the beginning the same kid that goes on an expletive laced tirade (gt something like "hmmmmmmmmm")? also I wonder if that kid somehow knew Lupo.

Pretty sure they all know each other. Also, they made a facebook group to go with this whole "fire the pro" campaign.

iTzLuPo is trying to hide his tracks. The unedited video was removed from megaupload and his Twitter has been deleted. I'm not sure what he's trying to pull with this. I think his last post was something along the lines of threatening Major Nelson with a class action lawsuit for telling everybody his video was highly edited.

Internet drammmmmaaaaaaaaaaa.

I can think of very few jobs worse than being a Live moderator (assistant crack whore being one of the few exceptions). I imagine it'd be like working customer service at a Chuck E Cheese where knife fights break out on a daily basis. I mean, sure, you might get in a round of skeetball between mopping up vomit and kicking out 12 year olds that express a desire to rape all your elderly relatives. Hardly seems worth it to me.

The fact that someone in that position might lose their cool once in a while? Totally understandable.

"Skeetball"? What kind of Chuck E. Cheeses are you going to, and what are they doing with those balls? ;)

I was going to fix my mistake but I think it adds to the depraved picture of Chuck E. Cheese I painted. It stays!
I like how this video backfired. It is obvious how edited and one-sided it is.
Indeed. You can just picture the tool sitting at his computer, laughing into his headset with his friends, figuring that they are really gonna "get" the mod. The nerd rage fit he must have thrown when it all started to backfire must have been glorious.
Wow, you can really tell he fucked up there. I wonder if wrongful banning happens often?
Often? Probably not, outside of small totalitarian places. Bans that shouldn't happen are inevitable the larger something is though and much can't and won't be done about it other than getting unbanned and apologizing. I know when I use to be services administrator of a medium sized IRC network more than half a decade back, I made a few stupid mistakes when banning people. Then again there was that one time I banned all of AOL from the network and they really got pissed...
It's rather obvious that they omitted the threats used to provoke this moderator. Pretty pathetic that they are having to start a campaign under false pretenses just to get the internet on their side.

These tools probably deserved any punishment given out to them.
AHHHHH! Too. Much. Logic.
