Lets just ignore the fact that you backpedaled and attempted to change what you said. No one cares if you don't like a character's name. It was the completely stupid reason you gave that made you look like an idiot. "The game's in English, so it should be completely Americanized!"
You must really hate Assassin's Creed 2...
Yeah, that's a good point - I like Assassin's Creed 2, but that's because it's a fun game.
I don't like the italian names much, because other than leonardo and the main character, i couldn't repeat any of them for you if asked. I would remember associations, but not names. I mean, there's no other real alternative, but it's a combination of those side characters being underdeveloped and also, not real people, that makes them difficult to relate to and difficult to remember. Just like persona.
The thing that also is annoying about AC2 is how they'll drift into italian slang randomly and a lot of it is kinda obscure. Some of it's pretty universal, but a lot isn't. I do like playing that game in italian with the english subtitles though, that's a nice option.
Keep in mind that this is just one of my many problems with JRPGs. Hey, maybe they should give you a choice, if at all possible? Or just original japanese dialog and the option of localized american names in the subtitles. It'd surely increase the appeal of these games at least a little bit.
