The Rock Band Thread - 10/26: Rock Band 3 Out Now With Free The Doors Pack In-Game!
Anyone know if the code to let you rip the RB1 tracks for play in RB2 is sharable? I can save $4 if it is.

Dr. SP (truly cheap)
Yes, it is. I d/led it from a friend today.

'Nother trophy question.

For the "played in every venue" trophy, what defines a venue? Is a venue each major city or is it each place within the city (meaning each city has 3 venues)? I ask because I think I've played in every city (although I might not have them all unlocked), but I definitely haven't played in every place for each city and still no trophy.

I'm looking to share some stuff with anyone that is interested. I'd like to get Dr. Feelgood album, transfer Rock Band 1 songs, some Oasis, NIN, and whatever else. Hit me up if interested in that or if you wanna play.
I just got RB2, will I still be able to get the 20 free songs?
There should be a code in the the manual.

I'm thinking about playing Rock Band 2 on Thursday night, either around 9pm EST or 10pm EST. If anyone is interested in playing, let me know, because I'd like to have a little mini-CAG night. Based on how that goes, I will look into expanding CAG RB2 night.

Team ManaKnight
Guitar 1: ManaKnight (although I MIGHT be willing to do vocals, but I prefer guitar for this)
Guitar 2: Darknyss (maybe)
Drums:
Vocals:

Down the road I can look into making more teams. I know the following CAG PSN Buddies of mine have RB2 (I might be missing some):
creid8
Darknyss
evergoo
I_Am_ProZac
Ipitythefool (I think)
jdizzle84
jonlubbe
mdam0re
MechaSheeva
metaly
norcaljr20
qig
riccaboni
rodeojones (I think)
Rolento
snakelda
StrandedBrit
SweetSweetTrash (I think)
Thelonicon
Thomaticus (I think)
x3x1x

I'd be up for playing (PSN: ChizelMonkee). All I have right now is the guitar but will likely get drums for Xmas so I could do either. I have a mic too.

One thing that has thrown me about multiplayer online is ability levels. It seems I was thrown in with some real shredders. How does one make sur e they can hang with the other players in their band? Is it simply choosing the right difficulty level for your instrument? Is that all you can do or is there some sort of level matchmaking system built in?

You can choose individual difficulty levels. Unless we're all in the business of gold starring the shaq-fu out of songs and rolling 1 million + point runs, it's no big deal to have a couple members rolling on medium/easy/hard. I usually judge what difficulty I choose based on song since I can do expert guitar or hard drums on the lower tier songs. You know whatever makes the game still challenging and keeps me from falling asleep.

I am down for playing some games. I have drums, but since I live in an apartment I try not to do drums after 9PM out of courtesy to my neighbors. :p I am willing to do guit/bass.

Does voice chat actually work, or is it just the vocalist that gets to say stuff during games?

Sounds cool. I haven't gone online in RB or RB2 yet. I am better at guitar but would be willing to play drums if need be.

Those who are already on my buddy list will be on my team (my list is near full anyway, but I'll eventually clear place). I will start watching and group people together sometime tomorrow. Just mention in this thread from what time would you like to play on Thursday, and what instrument do you prefer to play as (if you are willing to play as many, tell me that). I will try to get something together. It may not work right away, but I do plan to eventually make RB2 an official night.

Voice chat works in between songs so band members can communicate. The vocalist singing does not come through to other members of the band, they get to hear the master track.

Interesting, how does this play as an online game? Its super special awesome in a local multiplayer setting, but i guess i never tried to play it online.. strange, but I guess it could be fun. I will have to try it someday, but not this week, as I will be out of town.

Just got the Track Pack Vol. 2 yesterday, sucks it already had 2 tracks i owned already. But hey, i can download the tracks and then sell it like i did with AC/DC Track Pack and get some cheap tracks out of it.

Here is my pairing. I already have a group together, but I dunno if other groups want to form.

Group 1 (9pm EST)
Guitar 1: ManaKnight
Guitar 2: Darknyss (maybe)
Drums: x3x1x
Vocals:

Group 2
ohvermie (drums)
kenpachiexodia (instrument???)
ChizelMonkee (Vocals or Guitar)

Head-to-Head

I have PS3 RB2, ACDC and 20 song track pack codes for sale, I had them for the 360 and someone bought them from me off here, pm me if you are interested. thanks

Sounds good to me. If we start at 9PM EST, I can probably do drums for an hour or so, otherwise I'll be on the guit. :) Will add kenpachiexodia to the list.

Still got two open spots available for a new Rock Band DLC group. Concentration is on future DLC and looking to get nearly everything coming out because at 1/5 the price how can you go wrong? Purchase selection will be based on a 3/5th majority. If interested or would like more info PM me. Thanks.

I'm out for tonight, but I'm in for drums (preferrably) or guitar the next go around. I tried vocals with a bluetooth headset and it was pathetic.. I failed early on a few tracks on easy.
I can't join until 9 Central time. That is for tonight and most nights.
You all, in the 2nd group I put together, I can play whenever if you want. I'm just planning to start my group at 9pm EST.

Well, the bad news is (just to let everyone now), if the ice storm gets really bad and my power goes out, I'll be out for the night (to play RB2). I just wanted to let everyone know ahead of time.
i won't be around tonight, told my gf i'd take her out
Game nights > GF. ;)

I'm just kidding. :p That's all right, if I see Darknyss on, I may play a little with him. Otherwise, I won't worry about it. It's ok if RB2 doesn't work out this week, but I do plan to eventually make it work as a CAG night (I was just hoping to at least get started, because we gotta start sometime at least).

I'll probably be around, been playing a bit just to get warmed up. :) Shoot me an invite whenever you're on.

Will do. Do I do that in game?

I just did a quick test game with ohvermie. I'm not sure if my headset could be heard, because I ran into issues trying to get it to work (that's one reason I did a test game today, making sure I could get it to work, since I wasn't sure how it worked for RB2).

Sorry Mana, my PS3 froze while playing PoP so I decided to let it cool down. I will probably be back on in a little bit (it's 10:30 est now).

Good fun tonight with ohvermie and x31x. I hadn't played bass much before so it was a nice change of pace.

Will have to do it again soon . . .

Yeah, I popped in here when I got back and saw your posts but they were at like 9:30pm, but you guys were both online playing RB2 so I figured I'd see how long you'd been playing for. Lucky for me you two still had a few songs left in ya.

SingStar mic worked just fine for me, just have to hit the side of it and not the top part you speak into when doing the percussion sections.

That definitely worked out pretty well. We should take our show on the road! :)

Like to find out how to make the chat louder so that you can hear it reliably over the song previews and sound effects. It would suck if the only way around that was to crank the microphone input sensitivity on the user end.

Got this for Xmas and have been enjoying the single-player career mode a lot now that I can play through the Band World Tour mode without needing another player/instrument to do that. Downloaded my free 20 songs, though I haven't played around with them much yet.

I tried syncing my PSN account with my Rock Band account on their site and it's giving me errors, so does it just take time before I'm able to sync it and I should just try again tomorrow?

I would definitely be up for joining some CAG Rock Band games. I don't have drums, so I can just play guitar/bass, both on expert. Most all of the DLC I have is metal. PSN username is DeskLaser.

I think it happens right away. At least for me it did. You might want to try tomorrow.

TOo bad it doesn't sync your stats though.

Does anyone here play vocals? When the game came out,it was easy to play with people on vocals since it found them easily but now it doesn't....

I know bornrunnin31 plays vocals. I'd like to give it a shot, but I have a crappy USB headset from Socom on the PS2 that doesn't really pick up pitch that great and I know the Bluetooth I use for voicechat is craptacular for vocals.

Anyone know of a cheap place to pick up a USB microphone? I saw some sort of Disney PS2 karaoke game w/ microphone on clearance at Target for $20, but I have a feeling a mic could be acquired for less.

Indeed I do. Cheapest I can think of would be a used set of SingStar mics at GameStop for $9.99, I'm not sure how much they charge for a used Logitech mic but I'm sure some stores might have them because so many games out there use the exact same type as RB.

I picked up a used, Rock Band-branded mic at Game Stop for $10.

I noticed that Bluetooth headset work with Rock Band, though the Warhawk headset sucks, but I'm wondering if anybody has tried the Sony Official headset that comes with SOCOM Confrontation?

Nevermind the vocals.I don't need a vocalist anymore but does anyone here have the Ion Drum Rocker?I'm really interested in getting it...just want some reviews from people on here with any problems they might have.Thanks.

The blue Singstar mic will work for any USB microphone application. I have been using it for Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band recently. It seems to work fine with Guitar Hero, however, it does not seem to work well for Rock Band. It seems to have lots of difficulty picking up the "tambourine" hits and activating overdrive. I just saw one of the used Rock Band mics at Gamestop, I may have to pick one up.

Also, I just bought a drum set, so I can join in on a CAG game for drums if wanted. I can usually play around hard, except for harder songs. On easier songs, I can play expert. To recap, I can play guitar/bass on expert, PSN username DeskLaser.

Overall, I've had a lot of problems with getting vocals to work properly. I reported earlier that using the SingStar mic did not work for me. Well, today I got it to work somehow. When I was having particular success with the RB branded mic, I decided to try the SingStar mic again. Low and behold it worked.

Then, I lost functionality with both types of mics.

I suspect that I need to do something not so obvious to get these to work. I'm in the habit of booting up the game before plugging in the mics. One time when I tried to plug them in before booting, it worked more reliably.

One way for me to tell if they are working correctly is in the vocals options menu item in the pause menu. If you can hear yourself strongly that is a good sign.

I'm surprised it has taken so much fiddling to get it to work especially compared to the guitars.

Anyone else have any best practices for getting the mics to work reliably?
