XChika, will a 9.4 for your rating work for the moment on your messy room page? I've been stacking the deck for the voting, since they don't drop a cookie on the page to see if you've voted before.

I wonder if they IP log the votes... there's gotta be sometype of logging... site says winner will be based on number of votes and overall score, but if that's the case, anyone could do exactly this, and stack the deck, so to speak.

Check the voting a couple days from now and see how it looks.

Personally, I don't think they're smart enough to do anything with the voting for IP logging. :D
 
Woo hoo, work isn't sucking so bad. I came up with a desk design for our dual-monitor setup that my boss liked. :D

Plus it let me blow an hour on drawing. :whistle2:$
 
Nooooo! The mouse drift is back but it's just creeping to the right now. I really don't know what else to do aside from send it to Dell.

Rebate places are really slow. Probably nothing to get worked up over, yet. Unless the form said it should show up on the site within 2 weeks of course.

You could talk to Dell about the cost of the extended warranty, deal with it in the meantime, and when it's back under warranty, call them to fix it.

http://www.parts-people.com will do Dell laptop repair, and it's a relatively cheap cost for the repair, if you don't want to get it back under warranty.

You could order a palm rest from them, and see if that fixes the issue, also.

I read an article (somewhere... Maybe Wired?) a while back that mentioned studies have shown productivity increases when you use 2 monitors no matter what task you are performing on the computer. (So not just the obvious stuff, like graphics work.)
 
'tude - Can you just turn off the trackball and use a USB mouse? I guess that hurts the portability, but it's better than an unusable laptop.

/MUAHAHA! I uninstalled the driver and the hardware for my mouse and then I disabled the pointer stick thingy and it stopped! That is obviously the problem and hopefully it is fixed for good now. Thanks for putting up with my nonsense and trying to help everyone!/

So, is the problem with the trackpad (in the middle of the palm rest) or the trackpoint (in the middle of the keyboard)?
 
I love how it took me like a 100 pages to figure out who Mr. Wednesday was in American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I was sitting there reading and was like "Wait....One eye...Big beard...Old..." and realized who he was.

Trackpoint. I disabled that and the second I hit disable, the pointer just snapped into place and stopped moving. Now it's working perfectly again.

Could be caused by a defective trackpoint, which is integrated into the keyboard, or the fact that your typing movements are brushing up against it and moving it, ever so slightly.

If you're likely to just use the trackpad or an external mouse, then don't worry about it anymore with it disabled.

Yeah I NEVER use the trackpoint. In fact, the problem probably arose initially when I spilled water all over my laptop on Christmas Eve and it just deteriorated to the point it is at now. I have always used the touch pad so it won't be a problem now that I figured out what was causing it.

Also, my MP3 player has been acting up and I finally fixed that. It's like someone dropped an EMP grenade in my room. Speaking of which, where has Strell been? :lol:

Ahh, you cheated. ;) I just need to know where the necessary parts are so I can make sure I get those. At least the game isn't that long, about 6 hours or so, so a playthrough isn't that much of a waste of time.

I'm now grateful that moviemakers figured out how to make movies with sound because the two silent movies I saw in class today, Nosferatu and Battleship Potemkin, were just slow with awful music.

You know Radiohead - Kid-A(Album) syncs up with Nosferatu? Just set the cd on repeat all and start the song when you start the movie and it works like a charm. Pretty neat, even though I'm not a big Radiohead fan and it makes the movie pretty cool, too.
 
I hate when the opening credits to a show contain spoilers, like when it shows the name of an actor who plays a character who hasn't been in the show for a while, then you know they're going to be in the episode

On an entirely different note, my favorite asshole (and by that, i don't mean JimmieMac) is home. he's so sedated that he plopped down the second he stumbled through the door and hasn't been able to move sence. i feel bad for him, but at the same time it's really fucking funny. it's like he's stumbling, fall-down, holding onto grass so you don't get flung off the earth drunk.

yes and no. i feel bad for him cuz being sick/injured sucks, and having surgery twice in a week sucks even more, but if he wasn't with us, he would be sick and injured without a loving family to take care of him and pay for his surgery/medicine. he's lucky that he's not still at the pound.
